Missed calls and message notifications - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Can anyone tell me which Touchwiz ROM has the missed calls and message notifications on the lockscreen just like on the stock rom? I tried a few but they don't have it

While I'm not sure which ones do, I thought all TW ICS had it, none of the JB TW builds if based on VRLJ1 or VRLK1 should have it. I want to say none of the JB TW roms have it at all.

If you are talking about the notification bubbles that show missed calls and messages on the lockscreen, I have had them working on the stock rooted J1 and K1 JB TW leaks. They don't work at first. You have to go into the system/csc folder with root explorer or something similar and rename customer.xml to something else or delete it and reboot. Some people delete the CSC folder entirely but it can cause some other issues from what I have read.

I cannot find the CSC folder in the System folder

Ok you might not have it then. I think some roms have it and some don't. In that case I don't know how to get the notification bubbles to show up. I used the stock rooted k1 leak installed using mrRobinson's method in his thread in the development section. I think the instructions I gave may also work with cleanROM and Synergy.

[Q] My dx won't recieve picture messages

Hello everyone,
As you can see my dx won't recieve picture messages. I am a rooted user and have done lots of research and it mainly leads to the fact that I deleted stock messaging. Supposedly the stock messaging controls the mms receiving. My friends wil send pictures and I won't eveb know until the next day when they ask if I got them. So my question is does anybody know why? And if it is from the fact yhat I deleted stock text, can someone please post it on here so I can dl it and recieve mms again.i
for some reason they take a lil while to come in . but they eventually do. Did you press down on the message and select download ?
Check if you can send the mms's if not you gotta sbf...same thing happened to me
I am pretty sure the blur sms/mms is needed for pics....unless using aosp sms/mms. Though I could be mistaken.

I'm thinking since I deleted the stock messaging apk that is why I can't recieve them. I don't even have the option to long click and stuff. They never come to my phone. As tho it had never been sent but my friends have showed me where they sent them and it never showed up on phone. I am currently looking for updated stock messaging apk file so i can try and dl it and figure out if that was my prob
somtime sthe rooted rom has problems with mms, try using a differnt texting app like Handcent sms which allows you to customize and activate your mms. or it could be your baseband.
I've tried both chomp and handcent and no luck. Now ive found the deodexed messaging apk for my version and when I go to install thru root explorer it says "application not installed". I've copied to system/app folder. Mounted. Changed permissions annd still no luck. Anyone know wutttt else I have to do to reinstall this apk? Please help

After you put it in system/app/ and change permissions you gotta reboot (not try to "install" it).

Ok I jus put in...changed to rw r r and I rebooted. Now wut? I still cannot send or recieve the pictures? Do i need to apply a deodexed Messaging.apk intot the system/app folder? And after dropping it in there all I do is unmount and reboot...right? That is what u are saying isn't it?

Recent logs question

Is there any way to get the logs tab to show just phone calls? I know I can filter with incoming, outgoing and missed but can I have all 3 at the same time. I have no idea why they thought putting messages in the logs section was a good idea....thats what I have my messages icon for....
nothin, no one??
Remove SMS and MMS from call log.
Seriously, is there a fix to remove sms and mms from the call log?
I know the custom roms have found a way to remove it,
but Im not ready to take the plunge on one of the custom ROMS's on this phone just yet.
My Samsung Epic did the same thing, and there was a fix for it posted on XDA... Thanks k0nane.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1011678.html
Ill dig into that fix tonight, and see if I can find a way to fix the infuse...
Why cant Sammy just roll it out working...
While on the "Logs" screen, touch the menu button on the bottom left, and choose "View by". The default is "All logs", but if you choose Missed Calls, Dialed Calls, etc, it will only show the calls, and not your text messages. (I apologize if this is what you were already talking about when you mentioned filtering via incoming, outgoing and missed).
I'm running on the Infused ROM, so I'm not sure if this is just a feature for the ROM itself.
SOLUTION - Will Confirm after I try tonight... Thanks h8rift and gtg465x

Your thoughts were correct. Move the Refuse LogsProvider.apk to a stock ROM and it will work.
Hello,
I am running the stock rom on my girlfriends Infuse 4G. (she is not quite ready for a custom ROM yet, this is her first Android phone.) I want to fix the sms and mms logs in the call log, and had the same problem on my Epic 4G. To fix, we modified the Logprovider.apk in the system file.
I am downloading the Refuse rom now, and was wondering if I extract that file, and root explorer to the correct location in the stock rom, and overwrite the stock logs provider.apk, if you think that would work.
I have her rooted, modified 3e recovery, and clockwork installed...
I know others in the forum were looking to fix this on the stock ROM.
Please let me know if you think this could work, if not, could you modify the stock logprovider.apk to not include the sms and mms in call log.
I really appreciate your help... If you can help! I wont hesitate to give you credit for the fix in our forum posts.
Thanks Again!

SOLVED - Call Log - MMS/SMS Deleted on STOCK ROM Thanks h8rift
Ok, I got the SMS and MMS to not show up in the Call log... Running UCKE3 Stock Froyo ROM.
Its pretty simple, even a noob can do it... Thanks for the file h8rift
*Must be rooted, with root explorer or other file explorer that allows system access installed. ALWAYS BACKUP BEFORE CHANGING SYSTEM FILES, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKED PHONES, OR LOST DATA.
Download attached Logsprovider.apk (taken from the Refuse v1.6 ROM)
copy file, and place on the root of your SD Card.
place sd back in phone, and boot phone.
when fully booted go to root explorer, navigate to the External SD Card and copy the Logsprovider.apk file that you just copied to there.
mount system as r/w so you have read and write access.
press back, back, go to system then app and paste the Logsprovider.apk file
yes to overwrite the logsprovider.apk already on phone,
VERY Important, also delete Logsprovider.odex while in the same folder.
reboot the phone, and enjoy NO SMS or MMS in your call log.

phone apk question for GB

I would like to know what process is entailed in changing out a phone.apk
I am running a gingerbread 2.3.4 rom deodexed, but with a stock dialer and I hate it.
I have seen some roms using an ics style dialer thats much cleaner, but I cant figure out how to make the switch.
I tried asking for and installing a copy of the ics style phone.apk ( renamed old one, copied new one in, set permissisons, rebooted to recovery, wiped dalvik, rebooted, and fail - the lock screen came up but when unlocked the phone was just black and I was forced to cwm reinstall rom).
Pointers?
i belive you installed a wrongrom or something in the system that went wrong like it being odexed or deodexed

Also try a different APK, they don't all work with all ROMs
Also, you can flash a theme with a better dialer or use a theme manager engine if you are on CM7 base too.
ok, so basically switching out the contacts.apk and phone.apk should have worked with proper permissions set up, I just used a wrong type of apk?
I hadnt thought about just theming it - havent gotten into that yet, but thanks for the suggestion, as I may look into that then.

It could work with another APK, depends where you got it from. A Sense APK would never work in an AOSP ROM for instance.
Theming might be more fun.

[Q] Jelly Bean Lockscreen Circle Notifications?

I've been doing some searching around the web and haven't been able to find a fix for this yet. I flashed the latest Jelly Bean leak last night and noticed that the circle notifications on the lockscreen are gone (the ones for missed calls/new messages). I saw a fix for the Galaxy Note II that involved changing a file name and that would bring those back. Is there any way to bring them back on the S3?

Simple fix. You need a File Explorer app that has Root permissions, access to Root directory, and can mount System files as writable (I recommend ES File Explorer).
In you file explorer, navigate to "/system/csc/" and rename "customer xml" to "customer xml.bak".
Restart your phone. The Lock icon and "verizon wireless" text will be gone from your lockscreen, and the bubble notifications will be back.
I've tried that using CleanRom5 and it didn't work for me :-/

Did you restart your device afterwards? It is working just fine for me right now on CleanRom5.
I'm having the problem too. I tried the fix posted above with no luck after restart.

I'm not sure what you guys are doing, but this solution definitely works and has been done by hundreds of people successfully.
My guess is that you don't have the proper root permissions to change the file name (it's a system file). Do it using ES File Explorer. Go into the ES File Explorer settings, go into the Root Settings, and check all of the boxes. Then rename the file. It works on CleanRom 5, I am 100% positive of that.
I have no yet flashed CleanRom5.5, but I am 99% positive this same solution will work on that as well.

I've used root explorer in ROM toolbox and ES both. I've followed the steps outlined above, doublechecked that the rename took and rebooted several times. And this is the results.

Your using aosp msg app. Or gosms. I'm unsure but the looks of your screen shot that's the problem. You have to be using the tw mms app. Hope that helps

Ahh... I thought since I replaced the SecMms apk that it would still work.
I was able to do that fix, but every time I unlock the phone, it shows the hint "swipe this notification to see new messages" or whatever. I changed it back because that was annoying me, but it just kept coming back. If anyone knows a fix, let me know. I miss my bubble notifications.

I'm glad you mentioned this, because it was happening to me too. Go into Application Manager>All Apps and find the app called "Help". Click "Disable". You will only have to to do this once. Only downside is that you will lose all of these little How-To dialogues, not just the one for the bubble notifications, so make sure you know how to use all your apps before you disable this (you can always turn it back on if you need it later). Note: the "How to use motions" guides are separate and will still function even with Help disabled.
Thanks for the tip. it worked for me. Running Clean Rom 5.5.1
If people are still having trouble getting this to work, just add .bak to the end, leave the.xml there.

It is light themed. You can set the quick reply to be dark themed.
I thought you could change the entire apps theme but I guess I was wrong
Will the mms still allow moto connect to work?
No matter what I do, I can't load up the CM MMS app. I followed the instructions to a tee but when my phone loads, it goes back to the stock MMS app. I tried deleting it through Titanium Backup and had the same issue. I made sure to fix the permissions for the CM app to rw-r--r-- but it still keeps reverting to the stock messaging app. Anyone else having the same issue?

Did you try to just rename it MMS.apk.bak? Also there's an MMS .odex file which needs to be renamed. You need r/ w permissions as I guess you already know but I would say its not sticking possibly. Try this MMS apk, its inverted http://db.tt/lVifHTJc
The MMS apk can be themed dark or light

The stock app and odex file too, saved me many a times doing that instead of deleting it completely and either you have to restore a nandroid or look for the apk. This way if things don't work out just use any root explorer and remove the .bak and reboot
