According to the user guide for the headphones from the Plantronics website, it only supports Windows and Mac. Some people (after I searched a bit) have had success with other mobile platforms but regardless the documentation doesn't indicate it works with Android.

Hi,
I hope somebody can help with this. I've got a new pocket-pc phone with WM6 that says it's got A2DP built in but I cannot use my old bluetooth headsets with it for audio because it greys-out the audio device option.
My headsets (I have three) all work with my Universal using the A2DP patches. The sound is not perfect but acceptable for my purposes.
But nothing works on this new phone (Ubiquio 503g). I've checked all registry keys as well and they all seem to match the Tornado patch instructions.
What else can I try? Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

First, are you speaking of non-A2DP, mono headsets or A2DP, stereo headphones ?
Thanks for your answer. Yes, I am speaking of non-A2DP, mono headsets. Sorry I was not very clear on first post. That's what I mean. I've used these same headsets before with Uni and had sound of sorts from media players coming through it.

Unfortunately, different models require different ghacks to do this as has also been explained in the Wiki (see http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...t using traditional (mono) Bluetooth headsets )
All in all, checkout the Wiki above
Thanks. I'll try the wiki and hope for the best.

If anybody is interested, as my phone has Microsoft’s BT Stack, I’ve tried:
1)- Built in A2DP - option for bt audio greyed out.
2)- Tried with TP.com BTAudio.cab - it installs but sound is muted (or disappears in the ether) when I transfer sound to headset.
3)- Tried with 1Enable_A2DP.cab and 2Enable_A2DP.cab and the system say it cannot install them full stop.
4)- Tried with Tornado’s BTAudioToggle routine and registry changes - behaves the same as in option 2. (Realised after doing option 5 that it is same as BTAudio810)
5)- Read the wiki on http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TUTORIAL%3A%20Everything%20you%20need%20to%20know%20about%20using%20traditional%20%28mono%29%20Bluetooth%20headsets and discovered that I had tried most of the options there already.
6)- Did not try the “Teksoft’s Blue Music” yet, may give it a go later.
7)- and last, tried BTAudioNav with no luck either. (same behaviour as option 2).
I wanna cry!

Hi there.
I wanted to try connecting my Razer Kraken 7.1 headset to my shield via USB OTG, and to my surprise, it worked. When changing volume though, it only seems to have 2 modes: no sound at all, or louder than my desktop speakers can possibly go. I was wondering whether it would be possible for me to change my volume somehow, so that i can actually wear my headset while playing music through it. Is there some kind of solution for this?
Thanks a lot!

Short answer, you probably can't right now.. Seems like a Android limitation.
So I've been looking around and I found a thread here for the Nexus 7 (2012) trying to sort out this exact issue. Nexus 7 USB Audio Support
(and a little more)
Basically jacknorris created some custom kernels that support USB audio out for the Nexus 7, and a mod that allows for volume control.
He also made a Flashable Zip that adds just the feature you're looking for, but it's of course for the Nexus 7. Flashing it would probably mess things up, like no audio.
You could try messaging him and asking nicely if he would help you compile a fix for the Shield, he seems to have an idea of what to do with the N7, and the Shield is pretty darn stock. It's a possibility you could supply him with the files he needs to mod and then you could test them for him.
jacknorris
It looks like that thread is still active though, so you could try asking there first.
It's either this, or go and file a bug report from the shield.
Even though it's really something that Google should fix.
Settings > About Shield > Send Feedback to NVIDIA
I just sent feedback under Software Enhancement for this bug. :good:

Hi, does someone know a way to use a headset on Andyroid android emulator*? Viper4windows doesn't work on my laptop (windows 8.1), so I tried to use viper4android through that emulator… that works but the emulator doesn't know that I have a headset, so I can only use speaker settings. A way to use headset settings*? Thank you in advance*!
Edit*: no thats okay, I just use "lock effect mode" for the headset, that works now, resolved x)

I have a Blue Snowball mic and JBL Pebble speakers connected to my PC (actually Macbook Air running Win 7) via a USB hub. I use this combination for Skype calls. I also have an Xperia Z4 and would love to be able to use the mic/speaker combo with that as well, for phone calls. Is there any way at all to make this work?

If you want to use something externally for calling, your options are Bluetooth or devices that connect to your headphone jack. USB on android is for charging and data transfer. I don't think audio works over USB on android.
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PM, KEEP IT IN THE THREADS FOR EVERYONE TO SHARE
For posterity, in case anyone else needs this information. I found a solution slightly different from what I first wanted but which may be even better. Details below. But first a word on the original solution I was attempting. Android does not support this. Nevertheless, some Bluetooth stacks on Windows implement this, somehow fooling Android into believing that the connection is to a bluetooth headset, not to a PC. The stack that was mentioned here and there is the one from Widcomm. I tried installing this on my PC but failed.
And here is the solution I settled on eventually. Instead of messing around in Windows, I bought a bluetooth hands-free device designed to be used in cars. Only that I also use it on my desk. And even in the kitchen when I'm busy there. The model I bought is the Jabra Freeway but there are others. Works like a charm. Why it's better than what I wanted: because I can use it everywhere, including in my car where I also listen to podcasts and YouTube talks on the thing. And also because it allows me to conference parties on Skype (on my existing PC setup) with parties that call me on my phone, the traditional way.
I've combined this with a software called Just Remote Phone to control my phone from Windows. Perfect! (www.justremotephone.com)
Hi all,
I really tried to find a thread relating to this but couldn't. I have a Sharp Aquos Crystal GSM version with Android 4.4.2. I want to connect my phone to laptop using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and then make calls via laptop using my laptop's speaker and mic. I know there is an app called Airdroid but it doesn't use PC's speaker and mic which makes me wonder why does it even exist.
An old Nokia with Symbian S60V3 was able to do it using Nokia's PC Client.
I am kinda bummed that it is not possible in Android (I tried to search on google as well.)
Sorry if I am posting on wrong forum.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks!
I can't believe there's no response! Someone oughtta know!
