Hi Guys!
I'm here to share with you an excellent discovery.
I was a little bit sad about that my new RAZR i doesn't have the FM Radio and there's no FM radio app in the menu.
I had a Motorola Defy and had some problems with the native FM radio app, so I searched a new one and took an app from the Motorola DROID 2.
It worked really fine for my Defy and for my surprise It's working to RAZR i too.
The original post where I got this apk was:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903103 (FMRadio_fixed.apk)
I'm also attaching the file here.
Some information about my device:
No Root, fully stock.
System Version: 871.110.12012.XT890.Brasil.en.BR
Android Version: 4.0.4
Flex Version: GAS_LA_SCPNMINIIRETBRLA_P024 // GAS_LA_SCPNMINIIRETBRLA_A031

Now i can listen to the FM Radio with RDS in my RAZR i
I hope you enjoy!

There are some other apps linked on this thread you can try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942120 .
There all stock Motorola apps, or mods of them, other than my own FM app (see sig.)
Gosh, this worked! It's small, fast and easy!
I'm glad to see XDA still rockin', i was away since I stopped using my old blackstone.
Thank you thank you
This one of the very few things the razr i was missing for me. Think i have the notification interuption problem. Will try the other apps referred to. Hurray. Whoever you is, you is the man.
Thank you very much!
Good news!
very weird...so, after all, xt890 has a fm receiver chip

Hi. Amazing. Thank you very much for this....but after installing it I realized that the radio is already in play store...But without you I would never install it and knew that it is stock motorola radio...Thanks mate...

This version works only with the 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich Rom. The 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update unable any radio application such as this one or Spirit FM. This version in the OP as a bootloop during the "Launching the FM radio". So if you want to still enjoy the radio remember that it will only works for ICS. If someone finds that I'm wrong and there is an application which allows us to listen to radio, fell free to correct me.
My current version is 91.2.260001.XT890.Retail.en.EU

It wouldn't be a problem, is just take the radio app, decompile, make changes in manifiest.xml to assure to can work on jb ... in fact, you can try the radio apk that is located on defy forums or extract from quarx cm10 Rom (again, in defy forum) and give it a try. I was searching for what fm radio chip razr I has, but I was unable to find any information about it, this information is critical to develop new, exclusive razr I radio fm app

You think it's easy, then tell us you don't even know the FM chip ?
I can tell you the FM chip & I even have threads with excruciatingly detailed descriptions of registers on that chip.
The underlying framework / Motorola Proprietary FM API stuff is gone in that JB update. Removed. Spirit and stock app still loads; just doesn't work.
AFAICT it won't be possible without root, unless there's a JB released that works like ICS does.

Don't update.
It will be IMO a long time, if ever, before a solution is found.
Root or a custom ROM, along with a bunch of support for FM, may be needed. And I can't provide that support. So, maybe never.
Works!!!

which app?
Don't get too excited. Anyone reporting it works (either/any app) is likely running ICS.
Droid 4 JB update is released. I'll be interested to see if it also removes FM. Moto seems to have backed away from FM and I wonder if the FM hate that Google has is behind it. Bionic will be next I guess.
On Razr I it appears that FM "works" on a rooted stock JB ROM, using Spirit's low level support for /dev/tifm. But no audio, and note that most of my work these days is for audio; It's a major pain.
I can't see the ALSA controls to see what might work though. And that is likely because my ALSA control utility "ssd" isn't built for Intel architecture, or at least on this phone.
If anyone is able to get utilities like amixer or alsamixer running on the phone, there may be options for rooted JB devices. Are there custom ROMs for Razr I with these utilities ?

Put the file on your SD Card and do it the same way how do you installed 7.0.2. Use CWM and select your file (Install .zip from SD-Card). Just install it without wiping or deleting anything. But do a nandroid before (CWM Backup)!
Hi, since there seem´s to be some issue´s with 7.0.3 (read on CyanogenMod.com/blog) can´t you release an update patch for only the security fix and the bug fix for the update notification system??
I´m on 7.0.0 and I´ve tried 7.0.2 & and it´s not working any good for me, so updating to 7.0.3 seem´s like a shot in the foot
Thanxs for any input..
Well i wonder where you guys get your RIL's from, i just can find RIL's that are only for Sense Roms based on Gingerbread.
@peste
Would you mind sharing your RIL you are actually using, cause im also from Germany and i would like to give your Radio a try.

I thing you missunderstand it ... 7.0.3 is without this notification bugs. Read the blog again.
An Another Question ...
At the moment i use 7.0.2 and this Radio: 12.54.60.25P_26.09.04.11_M2
I dont flash a RIL ... when i update to 7.0.3, can i flash a ril that is compatible with my Radio 12.54.60.25P_26.09.04.11_M2? Or just flash 7.0.3 without a ril?
After the 7.0.2 release there was a Patch "use 2.2 htc ril" ... is this includet in 7.0.3? Or is it just in the nightlys that based on 2.3.4?
Regards

RIL's are not compulsory but are helpful to get the best results by matching the Radio. You can therefore flash CM7.0.3 but since CM7 will change the RIL to match the recommended radio you should then flash the correct RIL to match the Radio you are looking for which for 26.09.04.11 on CM7 ROM is 2.2.1003G.
There is a link to this RIL in my sig.

back to topic:
I have no problems with CM 7.0.3 so far, had a few issues like connecting my Device via USB with my computer made it reboot several times but after unchecking and checking USB Debugging again it is gone. Im also using Lord Clockan's Kernel v.3.1 to avoid the the Wifi-Error Bug. It feels not that snappy like it did with the newer Kernel on 7.0.0, but i will give it some time. SetCPU is installed, running onDemand min.230 max. 1228 and Screenoff Profile using Smartass with min. 122 and max 537. I also have no Issues with Video Playback like some people stated on the blog.
Let's see how it will be doing withing the next days

MarketPlace installed by default.
If you have a google account and you have previously synced your contacts, settings, etc. Everything will be imported back from the google server.

Hi meinfreund,
What are the problems you are having with your navigation? I've been on VoidU and now MIUI and got my navigation running pretty well. Actually MIUI seems to be incredible with it's assisted GPS implemented settings.

I also had gps problems on certain 2.3.5 roms. Couldn't get the gps icon to even appear in the notification bar. No error messages when turning gps on though. Sound like your problems?
No need to go back to stock. Try Coredroid or CM7. I can confirm both work with gps. Also perhaps try LeeDrOid. Very close to stock look and feel but with some nice tweaks. Gps also working there too.

the icon appears and i got gps far outside the city, but when i grabbed it the signal was lost. Had to put it in front of the car to get the signal, very sensitive. I resetted gps data many times but that didn't change anything.
Before i started flashing ROMs, it worked pretty fine, in the cities too.
Actually I think that all the ROMs that I tried are not faster or better than the Stock I had before. So i'm a bit confused about what doing next?!
LeedrOid and Coredroid are from August. Aren't they a bit outdated?
Does an update of the Base and Kernel might has positive effects to the gps?

Reverting back to stock is something unusual after rooting. There are lot of candidates , Just pick one and hit the base..Keep Hitting

Hey,
I now flashed the Cyanogenmod 7.1 and have big trouble with that.
GPS does not work as well as with the other ROMS (GPS fix can't even "fix")
But there are some more difficulties.. i cant call or get called by someone, the Homebutton does not work (after flash, it worked.. but after shutdown it doesn't anymore)
Apart from these problems, this ROM is very fast and nice looking!
Does one of you have an idea how long it takes until a shipped ROM of ICS is available when its released?
Hi I have also cm7.1 since stable release and not having your problems. Just csipsimple has some isues. Did you do wipe cache and data? Did you restore via titanium? I restored BT pairings and had to begin since clean system, cause BT didn't work correctly. I would give a try to flash radio.

Dun let other ppl's bug ruin the possibility of a good rom for your phone, i am on ice ds, bouncing between roms.
And the bugs a very mild, it is ok for my daily usage, no issues unless i undervolt it too much.
Am able to watsapp, sms, call, zelo, line, browse the web/forum/mangga, take pictures and so on.
As long as the bugs are NOT unable to call/sms or reboots every 1 hour, if not dun worry yourself about other ppl's bug/phone related problem.

most bugs in ICE DS thread are from older versions. it used to base on tweaked incredible firmware, so some bugs were expected. only with v5 it is made of the official DS ICS firmware.

ICS on mine has been stable so far (GB would reboot weekly)
Apps auto reinstalled from Play Store,
re-imported texts and contacts from exported to SD just before update.
Plenty of apps have re-updated and everything is back as it should be.
Interface is better and more usable.
Battery life is similar to GB, maybe a few % worse, 3.5 days compared to nearer 4 days.
I'm happy
For web browsing I think gb is smoother
Indeed web is slower with movies lot slower

If you have ICS, you can use Chrome! It's so much better than the stock browser or the other 3rd party browsers.

are there ROMs that are clearly better? I found ICE DS 5.0 and, even if the name of the thread say "Stable" seems to have more than one bug..

Can you use the 'Search' tool, or read all the posts in other threads? There is no difference - same file, same checksum, same everything.

Chrome for Android is better than Opera? I always asked to me why Chrome for Android doesn't appear on my play store search....that's the answer!
Might be restricted to the locale and/or country ip address that you are currently on.

NOTE: Make absolutely sure that call recording is legal in your country or state!
I finally found a way to capture the the direct line of other party. It has not been documented elsewhere and was discovered mostly on a whim. Tested on SCv7 and should work on any ATT ICS based rom. Here we go:
Download the MIUI port from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914096
Extract the system files mentioned here(the first code box):http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28914725&postcount=16 copy them to your system/lib folder with Root explorer. Backup any replaced files just in case and set the permissions rw-r--r--
Download and install Callrecorder app by Skvalex. Free trial can be found here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441643
In Callrecorder preferences set 'Record calls from' to 'Standard Android API' and 'Standard Android API preferences'>'Audio source' to 'Voice call uplink + downlink'
Recorded calls will have the other party loud and clear, no comparison to the old way of capturing with the mic and the speakerphone cranked
Thanks go out to timmytim and Team Shogun for the MIUI port where I grabbed the libs from, whirleyes for the idea of grabbing libs from a Chinese rom
and skvalex for Callrecorder
UPDATE:
I discovered that with 'Audio source' in Callrecorder settings set to 'Voice communication' you only need to copy two files files. I have uploaded these two files for your conveniance: https://www.box.com/s/r2ygsemgr2tjn2fu3jnl
Copy libaudioril.so to system/lib and replace audio_policy.omap4.so in system/lib/hw. Set permissions to rw-rw-w-- for both. This should make the first two steps a bit easier.
Nice score will give it a go in a few.....
That's great. Does it work on SCV6

Assuming it's Gingerbread based I'd say no.

You dont have to install the rom itself, though...
anyone know if the dialer from the miui rom is the stock one or not?
Wow its working
Tried your Updated method first and it did't work
Then followed the first method by extracting files through MIUI ROM and it worked great on my Atrix 2 MB 865 (official) ICS 4.0.4 Asia Retail Indian ROM
Now this phone really rocks...it feels complete coming from Nokia N8...Plays almost all HD games and Galaxy on Fire THD rocks as it did on my N8:laugh:
and works on Retail Hong Kong / Taiwan fastboot-p3_edison-edison-user-4.0.4-6.7.2_GC-220-EDS-3-65-release-keys-Retail-05_hktwn.tar.gz rom as a built in feature in dialer app.
Do you think it will work on an Atrix 4g?!
It will not work with atrix mb860. Worth a try with xt910.
Thanks

Will this work on Paranoid Android? I assume not..since it's Jelly bean...
Note that getting call recording working requires audio library files sourced from an existing Asian ROM for the same hardware and Android version. My instructions are valid for ICS only. For Gingerbread different files are copied. For Jelly Bean there's a slim chance that you can copy files from asian Bionic or Razr JB ROMs once they get released but don't count on it.

My rooted phone is MOTO RAZR MAXX XT910 europe, running on ICS 4.0.4, System version: 673.94.624.XT910.MERetail.en.06. Is worth to try to enable call recording on my phone, or, if those files are not compatible with this device I risk to brick my phone? Thanks
All chinese firmwares have abilities to record calls. Even jb leak.

Hmmmm. I followed everything to a "T" except I purchased the PAID version and was stopped at the instruction above. It doesn't appear in 1.3.9 Full.
Am I missing another "settings" function somewhere?
Try hitting the text just to the right of the recording toggle.
Hi guys, I'm in need of some help here.
It has been more than 8 months since I rooted my I9300 and installed CyanogenMod. Currently I'm using CM 10.2 nightly build and so far it has been great. Just awesome.
The only problem(ish) with it is the absence of the FM radio. It looks like CM does not have an app pre-installed for this. Now, I have been searching for some apps that would allow me to listen to my local radio when I don't have internet connection, but I just can't find any. Every app that I find has only the internet radio option.
If I remember correctly, when I was using TouchWiz, I could use the radio...
I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I thought I would give it a try.
Thanks anyways

I have installed a cracked copy of the program in the phone. It installed without a problem and I'm now trying to get it to work properly, hopefully within this year

You should be able to get it running properly. As far as I know, US Samsung phones do not support FM.
