Hi,
Please help me.
I tried to install CWM in my galaxy ace using "Odin".
I followed correct steps and odin showed "pass" at last.
but now my phone is not booting.
It will load upto "GALAXY Ace GT-S5830....." scree and nothing is happening after that.
I am not able to boot into recovery also now.
How I can recover my phone back?
Please help me.
Flash everything back to stock with Odin. You should make sure repartition is checked before flashing. When you try to flash cwm through Odin, redownload the files and try again.

Thanks for replying, but sorry to ask you one more doubt (may be too n00b qn.)
what do you mean by "flash everything"?
where I can get all those files for Ace?
Sorry took soo long to reply, was at work. Can you post a link to the method you used to flash cwm? Just want to make sure I point you to the correct firmware.
I have used the method at
acetips.wordpress.com/2011/10/01/install-cwm-ace-froyo
As it didn't worked, I used some other "ops" file, which brick my phone.
Can I use any samsung upgrade method ( as I have done earlier in my sonyericsson w8 using SEUS) ?
Or how can I fully flash and make it alive?
Try this...!
Hey no phone dies so easily, so, follow the process mentioned in the given link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
You know how to use odin get you ops file and further download the stock rom on
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
thanks friends.
But now I am not able to get into the recovery mode. will it get fixed after flashing the latest firmware?
What is the really working method to get CWM recovery for ACE?
It should work again if u flashed the stock because the stock recovery is included in the stock rom =)
please help me.
my phone is still not turning on, even after flashing stock firmware using odin.
How can i get it back?
my ace is now alive
Thank god!!! at last, my phone is alive.
Now dear friends, do u know any guaranteed to work -cwm flashing methods for ace?
Since you have flashed stock, are you able to get into stock recovery?

Before you flash CWM Recovery, you need to ROOT ur phone, download upd_1.zip file from the link that I provided in the previous post and flash it from Stock recovery.

I agree. Though not totally necessary, it does help. Also enable adb.

Hi.
I rooted my Note 8010 using Zedomax' method. All has been fine. My note has now downaloded the JB OTA update, but it fails to install.
I assume I need to restore 'stock' recovery to install the OTA update? But where can I get this from.
Also will installing the OTA remove root? And will Zedomax' method still work to re-root after applying the update.
Regards
Installing the OTA should not remove root but if it does just use the exynos abuse patch app to root that is the simplest and safest method.
Thanks Samir_a
Do I actually need to restore stock recovery? If so, where can I get that?

Cf root method restores stock recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33298782 and yes to do ota udate you need stock recovery

Ok I ran the CF auto root to restore stock recovery.
But now I have downloaded the ota update 3 times, and on clicking install it fails immediately.
Previously it rebooted into CWM recovery.
Any ideas what's wrong now? I'm guessing I can download a full update and flash it another away, but I assume that will erase all settings.
Try to flash via odin or if u r rooted use mobile odin . Im now on jb 4.1.2 i flashed my note via mobile odin in 5 min
Thanks mexman_2010.
However if I use odin that will trash my settings won't it?
Is there no way of getting the ota update to work?
You dont need to retore stock recovery or fiddle with odin. Just use kies on your computer and it installs the update for you. All your data should still be intact after the process but it is recommended to backup first
Keep in mind that updating using kies removes root
The ota's are using the patch method;
effectively what they do is work out the difference between the new binaries and old binaries and just send a patch that changes the old into the new.. this is done to keep the ota as small as possible I presume.
so if the binary isn't identical to what was shipped with the rom its trying to update then it will have to fail, otherwise you'd end up with an almighty great mess of non booting or corrupted devices.
if they used the file method (complete apks etc like an cwm style zip) then it shouldn't matter, but as it is, the only way to ensure a patch will work is to make sure the files are identical to what the patch was generated against, root allows you to change system files, so root is the primary way of checking if the system has been altered.
ergo if you want otas then you're most likely going to have to run them from a stock rom.
Thanks for all the info guys.
Bizarrely though, having left the Note overnight. It downloaded the OTA update itself and this time when I clicked install it worked perfectly, so
all is well again.
Thanks for the help everyone.
Please every one. I need help with my n8000. Currently i am on stock ics rooted with zedomax cwm installed. Is it safe for me to install OTA update or can i just switch back to my stock recovery by flashing it through odin? I have downloaded the stock recovery so im waiting for your replies

Why don't you just install the latest version from sammobile with Odin or Mobile Odin instead of using the complicate way?
Can i revert to stock recovery by flashing through odin and still keep root?

I think partitions are different now or got changed some how. I have flash 4.1.1 stock image and got stock recovery back but Twrp or CMW will not work. First time I ever had this issue.

If he's still on the stock rom, he'll receive an OTA notification on his phone. So long as he hasn't removed any system apps or installed any systemUI mods then it will update just fine even with a custom recovery installed.
He removed a couple of system apps but is on the stock ROM with no UI changes.
he has time to worry about it later. nothing is going to happen on friday.
does he have a nand of the stock system? if so tell him to restore it before updating to be safe
Yeah that's what I thought but better safe than sorry. No NAND of stock as far as I know.
OK there is thread out there just has rooted stock ROMs you can flash in recovery without a data wipe. I can't seem to find the thread for some reason but I have the file. OK. Because you do NOT want to get that term mixed up and you do not want to flash a flushable zip using odim. Very bad idea. Odin uses tar files which sometimes comes zipped up (not flashable via recovery)

You guys need the stock recovery in order to install the OTA. It won't work with a custom recovery, it'll just boot to the custom recovery and not do anything. You can install the OTA with s off and root but you still need the stock recovery. You install the stock recovery the same way as you did the custom. You can install the update, and when you have the chance you can s-off using the weaksauce/supersu/firewater method. I picked up a new M8 a couple nights ago and took the update, and afterwards did the temproot/firewater method and it worked just fine. Hope this helps.
I flashed stock recovery and tried the OTA and it failed twice. I can't seem to get it on my phone through any of the methods for some reason.
In order to install update, you need to have STOCK recovery and STOCK Rom....NOT debloated or with mods....STOCK.
Again, you need STOCK recovery using a STOCK Rom.
If you have modified the system in anyway, it WONT work until you put it back to STOCK.

No need to take ota. Ota us our enemy. Lol. The ota has been pulled an you can simply flash the firmware an that's half of the ota an then flash a stock Rom based off 1.55 or install the backup that was posted of a pure stock 1.55 Rom. After those 2 things you will have the full ota. New radios everything.. flashing a stock recovery taking ota flashing back is not needed.

Thanks guys it was annoying having that update keep popping up and no real computer to lookup info or soff. As for getting updates after roming the phone usually just wait for authors to incorporate the updates.
