Lock Screen with Passcode and Apps - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I have been looking everywhere for an app that allows you to use the camera without typing in your passcode. There are many variations on this feature except all those apps aren't that secure and when I do put a passcode lock the quick access to the camera is blocked by the passcode. If you don't understand what I am trying to say then refer to the lock screen on the apple iphone 5. I am an andriod person and i'm just trying to come up with such an app or find one. Please let me know if anyone finds it/creates such an app for driod users.

Security, screen locking

First I'd better cover myself - yes I have searched first and not got the answers!
I'd like to be able to lock my phone so that someone who comes along to try and use it is prompted with a password. Sounds simple, doesn't it?
However, I don't want to be prompted to enter a password every time I turn it on. This means I need to be able to choose to lock it or not when I feel like it. Having to set a password and unset it each time is a real pain.
The old solutions to make this easier - Picture Password, Kai's lock tool etc don't work at all on WM6.
The new, great slidy tool that looks like iPhone doesn't do it either.
Does anyone else have this feature or a workaround? It sounds so simple and it's what I do with my PC all the time. Thanks.
some older pda's had fingerprint readers for that purpos

replace swipe unlock with unlock pattern?

hey guys,
any of you found an app to replace the swipe unlock for the unlock pattern, rather than having both?
not urgent as this is the best phone I've ever had, but would be a nice touch.

You're right... but it's such a shame don't you think... really no need for the swipe, if you have the pattern....
I thought that was the case...
May look into how hard it will be to create an app to do it
The swipe unlock can be replaced with iphone/hero/donut/eclair style unlocking using the lockbot app. So I think an app should be able to solve this (However I'm not capable of making suck apps).
there is a free app called "No Lock" which simply disables the lock screen apparently. If you have the pattern lock underneath this then i guess you would just get that.
i haven't tried this, but just came across it by accident and it reminded me of this thread
Thanks for that, but no luck
It disables both the lock and the unlock screens (if that makes sense)
It is quite handy if you are at home and have the phone on a table and having a text conversation where you keep turning the screen on and off, but not quite what I wanted
I wonder if this is something that could be built on top of to give us what we want, I will email the Dev of this app and see what they say about it.
I will update when I know more
Right then guys, I have had a response from BoD
I sent them this:
Good afternoon,
I have downloaded the no lock app for android. It is great app, however, there are quite a few users of android who would like to see an app that would remove the lock screen but keep the pattern unlock screen or pin screen etc. Im hoping you are open to suggestions, and as you have created the app to remove the lock screens completely (which is pretty much halfway there), I was wondering if you were thinking of creating an app capable of this?
If you are and would like beta testers, I'm sure i could get a few volenteers together to do so.
Thanks,
To which they responded (very quickly too):
Hi!
Unfortunately there is no way (that I know of) to do that currently.
I hope you'll enjoy the app anyway.
Have a nice day,
So.... It looks like they are not aware of how this can be done, IF it can be done, which is a shame.
Thanks sungrad for pointing the app out though
no probs sorry it wasn't much use
it exists in the security settings in the phone (pattern lock ) just enable it

I have the pattern unlock enabled.
The problem is that to unlock my phone now I have the swipe (with the triangle and the curve) and the pattern unlock. I want the pattern unlock to replace the swipe unlock, rather than be requested as well as the swipe unlock.
It's only a minor issue I have, but it does get annoying when you are using it a lot (text conversation etc)

it is really annoying but i have an idea the application mananger if we could know its name we could deactivate it like what they do with htc devices they deactivated htc sense
nobody has a solution for that?
Not exactly what you're after but there are widgets that toggle the unlock pattern off/on. You could toggle the unlock pattern off when texting so you only have to do the swipe. SwitchPro Widget has this feature but I haven't tested it with X10.
EDIT: Found this. It may be what you're after http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.brandongoodman.smartlock
Bump? I just wonder if anyone found a solution to this? I would really want what the OP states
just wanted to add... be careful with the "pattern lock" ... it literally disables your phone after 5 wrong pattern tries. I nearly did a system wipe just to unlock it.. Luckily for me it accepted my email account with "null" for password to re-enable it
I had that no lock app and it looked nice and handy but it messed with the pattern and slide default unlock when I went to uninstall, all I wanted was the pattern but no matter what way I set it,the swipe unlock would always be there, after loads of reboots and setting/unsetting a lock pattern it still did`nt work, this is after I uninstalled, after I dont know how many reboots even when I had the pattern enabled the swipe would come up first then the pattern, sometime only the swipe, it worked itself out, so be cautious of it....

[Q] App Lock

I'm trying to create a lock app that would allow the user to lock an application so that in order to launch the locked app, the user would have to enter a password. Does anyone know of any way to do this? Something similar to Smart App Protector, but I'm wanting to take it a different route. Maybe recognize when a package gets launched or intercept such intents. Does anyone know where I could get started?

[Q] Lock Screen Security

Hi, I am trying improve the security on my phone, There has been a recent report about a guy who was forced to enter his unlock screen password to border officials at the airport (although he didn't comply). This is a HUGE abuse of power and an even bigger violation of privacy.
I hope never to be in that situation, but if i am i want an easy way out so i am looking for the following solutions:
Entering a secret code / Pattern on the lockscreen that would trigger a factory reset
And / Or
A secret code / Pattern on the lockscreen that would load a "dummy" home Lanucher
as far as i can tell neither exist. Any help/Advice would be great, thanks
Just enter into the guest mode?
HOW??

How? I mean suppose that official is infront of you , how will you switch to gusest mode wihout letting him know .... i mean in power off option ?? or any other way?
What you are describing is similar to the plausible deniability mode of Truecrypt. However Android doesn't have this function natively, and I don't see how you can implement it without doing some major modification to the system.
What about bringing a secondary phone as a distraction instead?
There is already one major bug in Google Play services 7.0.97 reported by Android Police which alllows attackers to unlock the phone without any password since it takes around 15 ~ 20 seconds to re-apply the lock. Another hole seems that attackers could steal your phone if your phone just gets into the standby mode with disabled sceen. There are general known attacks with such smart-lock enabled function which allows to bypass the pin.
not sure if this is relevant , but on any phone i've owned with a 'swipe-down-status-bar' when phone is showing lock screen all i have to do is swipe the status bar down and can click on any icon to bypass lockscreen then back out of that setting , i.e. settings , apps , wifi , etc. and will be on home screen.

That only works if you didn't set any password lock.
I have es file manager, and i zip and password protect files or folders wich i need but dont want people finding if my phone ever gets stolen. you can check that out.
Maybe there's gonna be something I oversee, but you could (easily) do this with Tasker.
You could use tasker to make an 'app' to login with a different profile on your android. By opening that app, you go into a self-defined stealth-mode, where you disable everything you want to hide and where you open a minimal homescreen.
Tasker + Secure Settings should have all the tools you need to set it up without destroying your real security.
Maybe dual booting to an empty ROM with sdcard access removed and only a small amount of fake information down on the device?
Would not help if they decided to copy your entire devices info for a close exam but should fool most guards into thinking you don't use your phone much.
Just reboot into that ROM at any time you think anyone would ever check.

A lock screen app with multiple pins?

I just had an idea and I though I would share it... imagine you had a lock screen app. You can add one code 1234, it opens your phone. Another one 1345, that opens WhatsApp. All unlock the phone, but they do different actions. Maybe someone could make an app like this...
Or use different fingers on the fingerprint reader to launch different apps
I'm not sure if either is even possible tho... I like to think that unlock codes, patterns and fingerprints etc. are hardware based these days, in which case the phone will not accept different inputs for different things, just like there's just one truecrypt password. Unless the functionality already exists deep within the system.
I may be wrong tho, hope someone will chime in.
you can use the default lockscreen plus an app lock
