I'm so lost, I can't find any reviews online. I have till Thursday to make up my mind.

Go for a Lenovo Ideapad Y580. That's my lappy.
15 inch screen. i7-3610QM. 660M graphics. 6 gigs RAM. Backlit keyboard. You can get the 1366x768 version for $900. 1080p version for $1000. It's a beast.

You're seriously going to drop $1200+ on a laptop with a class 3 card??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Sorry, I don't mean to sound like an ass, but that's hilarious!
Definitely not worth it. PM me if you would like some help. There's A TON of better deals out there
Such as this one, so long as you don't need the 17 inch screen. If you do, let me know. I can help
Similar to what the guy above me posted about, but a little more kickass for a little less money
http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/...22D1AC7A&AID=11222560&PID=227502#.UK2z7_jAebw

You can buy an Alienware with better specs for that much money.

Of course, if you like a Lenovo (I do too) then you can take a look at This One for $629. A little lighter on the specs but it IS a Lenovo.

You should check out the Dell Inspiron 17r 7720 Special Edition. Should cost about $1200 and it has way better specs than that.

8GB ram
32GB SSD+ 1TB hdd
Gt650m 2GB ddr5

Skullcandy 2.1 surround etc etc.
And with a little more you can get the 3D screen option. It's quite the beast for the price

It's also lacking the ips screen, the main reason i want the transformer over the G-tablet. I'm not sure how often i would use GPS on a tablet because it is free on my phone.

[Q] Can someone create a TrimSlice category?

This new device is incredible. They are advertising it as a desktop ARM-based PC. I want to spark interest by devs and consumers alike - the platform was created with open-source communities in mind...and now have a 45% discount on their dev pro kit just for open source devs (which comes to near $175!!).
CPU and Memory:
Trim-Slice is based on NVIDIA Tegra 2 – a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 @ 1 GHz with ultra-low-power GeForce GPU with 1 GB DDR2 RAM soldered on-board.
Storage:
Trim-Slice incorporates a either a built-in 32 GB Sata SSD/250GB SATA HDD/or add your own, an SD slot on the front and additional micro-SD slot behind a secured door on the side. Both SD ports support SDHC up to 32 GB.
Video and Audio:
Trim-Slice supports HDMI 1.3a 1080p and a 2nd DVI-D port supporting resolution up to 1680 x 1050. 5.1 channels audio is available through HDMI and through S/PDIF. In addition there are standard 3.5mm jacks for stereo line-out and line-in. Analog video input port will be made available in the future when SW support for the feature becomes available.
Networking and I/O:
Trim-Slice has a Gigabit Ethernet port implemented through one of the Tegra 2 PCIe ports and a built-in 802.11n WiFi. Bluetooth is provided as a USB dongle. Trim-Slice incorporates 4 USB 2 ports two on the back and two on the front. On the front panel there is a micro-USB connector for USB device, and a mini connector for RS232.
Build and Power:
Trim-Slice is built into an all metal case of 5.1 x 3.7 x 0.6 (130mm x 95mm x 15mm). Trim-Slice power supply is 12V DC (8V-16V tolerant) Power consumption is 2-6W depending on devices in use, operating system and CPU/graphics load required by the application.

Yea please there needs to be development on this... IT would be the perfect carputer if we could get a port of honeycomb on it
ICS demo on trimslice
There is a demo build of ICS on the trimslice now and access to the kernel code for the device. Anyone planning to do work on this?
+bump for the TrimSlice being awesome
I have booted ICS from an SD card. Pretty cool setup, but still lacking a few things.

[Q] 9.7" HD IPS, Android 4 (ICS), 1GB ddr3, 16gb, $299.00?

I found a seller on Amazon that has this tablet for $299 (with free shipping from Amazon, plus their A-Z Guarantee if it sucks). Is this a good deal? I've copied the specs below (apparently it does support USB OTG and comes pre-rooted too). I got a 7" tablet from this seller for $120 and I love it (see this thread), so I know they sell good stuff. Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

[Q] Q: Chromebooks: HP Chromebook 14 vs. new Samsung Chromebook 2??

Hello! My Dell laptop is broken and have decided to get a Chromebook after realizing I don't do much on my previous laptop except web surfing. I do have a Note 3 and Nook HD+ 9in rooted with CM10 installed but sometimes I just have to browse on a bigger screen with a dedicated keyboard for typing. Having full blown Chrome browser instead of the mobile version is great too. So, I need a bit of help trying to decide between the two Chromebooks I've narrowed down to.
Here are the specs for the HP Chromebook 14 (from walmart):
Key Features and Benefits:
Intel Celeron 2955U processor
1.40GHz, 2MB L3 Cache
4GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory
16GB solid state drive
Store 10,000 photos, 4,500 songs or 8 hours of HD video and more
802.11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN
Wirelessly connect to a WiFi signal or hotspot with the 802.11a/b/g/n connection built into your PC
Intel HD Graphics
With HDMI capabilities
Bluetooth
HP TrueVision HD webcam
SD memory card reader
1 x USB 2.0 port, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, 1 x HDMI port, 1 x headphone/microphone jack
4-cell lithium-ion battery
4.07 lbs, 0.81" x 13.56" x 9.44"
Price: $349
Samsung Chromebook 2 (from samsung; will be release in April):
Size: 13.3"
Resolution: Full HD LED Display (1920x1080)
Processor: Exynos 5 Octa (2.1GHz, 2mb L2 cache)
Memory: 4GB DDR3L system memory at 1600MHz
Storage: 16gb e.MMC iNAND embedded flash drive
Camera: 720p HD web camera
Battery life: up to 8.5 hours
Dimensions: 12.72" x 8.8" x x.65"
Weight: 3.09 lbs
Ports: 1 HDMI, 1 USB3.0, 1 USB2.0, MicroSD multi-media card reader, Headphone out/Mic-in combo, DC in
Price: $399.99
Does it look like it will be worth it to spend an extra $50 for the Samsung to get HD resolution and a better processor? I do like the HP's bigger size but at least the Samsung isn't as small as the other Chromebooks (11 inches).
Thanks all!
Hi, hope my reply is not too late.
I purchased the HP 14 two months ago and I havent looked back. I am not a big games player but I do use a laptop a lot as I am a teacher and use presentations very often. It took a bit of getting used to working in a different way but I havent used Powerpoint on my laptop for over a month now.
I am more than happy with the HP with long battery life at 7hrs plus, good graphics (although some moan abaout the screen), easy use keyboard and a responsive touchpad.
So, I cant say anything about the samsung but the HP is a nice piece of kit with the 3g built in.
