i have this phone and im trying to get it in download mode but nothing is working. i built a usb dongle, it wont work. i tried the button combos and that dont work. i can get in recovery mode by holding vol up and power. holding vol down and power i get a loop of the boot screen.
"galaxy s 4g" exclusively from t mobile
holding both vol up/down still puts me into recovery or the loop. when booting with the dongle in it boots to a screen showing the time, date, option for alarm, music, gallery, web in landscape view with an exit button in top left. i need some help please.

Try these recommendations first.
only the adb method worked. but only after sorting out usb connection errors.
Stuck power button
I had my power button stick and it was always in a boot loop cycle until I pulled the battery out.
As soon as I put the battery back in it would start the boot looping again. No recovery and no download mode.
I finally got the power button unstuck and got the phone to fully boot.
Just a guess.

Hello,
Hopefully I'm in the right place for posting something that seems to be this simple. The start of my problem is that the tablet will not stay off. When I try to shut it down, it shuts down normally, but then it starts to display the battery icons like it is plugged in and charging, but it is not connected to power. I can leave it in sleep mode and the charging thing will not happen, but turning it off displays the power charging screen and it further drains the battery. I figured something is screwy with the system so I would try to reset it to factory defaults. Now I have the other problem...
So I am trying to restore to factory defaults and I know to do this I have to start from off and hold down the up volume and the power button for a few seconds and as soon as the tablet starts to turn on release the power button but not the volume up button, and it should get me into the recovery/download screen. Unfortunately that is not working. I hold down the Volume up button and briefly hold the power button (3 or 4 sec or so) and I see the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 startup screen and let go of the power button (still holding the Volume up button). Next I see the spinning blue circle around the Samsung logo and the tablet reboots. I can release the volume up button at any time after that and the results are the same, it just reboots. It's like it isn't seeing the volume button.
I have tried using the volume Down button instead of the volume up button but that too is just like I am not pushing any volume button at all. Once the tablet is on, the volume buttons function normally, so the switches are good.
Since I got this tablet used could someone have loaded something onto it preventing it from being rebooted into recovery/download mode? Maybe some custom firmware or something. I'm at a loss as to where to go next. Since I can't boot into recovery/download mode I can't get into Odin.
Any help is appreciated.
Rick
Hi. The tablet isn't rooted, is it? Can you try to boot it into download or recovery with the "quick boot" app from google play?
I don't think it is rooted, but I can't tell for sure since I can't connect to the Google play store. I tried downloading using the web browser, but my battery dies before if finished. I'll try swapping batteries and see what I can figure out. Thanks for the idea.
Rick
No, the device is not rooted. it also is not charging and I had a heck of a time getting it to connect to the play store. I think I need to try and reload the OS, but without being able to get into ODIN, or reboot into recovery, I'm not sure how to proceed. any suggestions?
When the battery thing appears do the power- volume up thing and hold it until the gtab logo appears.
I've tried that, and it just boots up as if I wasn't holding the volume button at all. Once the tab is booted, the volume buttons work as normal. I've even tried putting a different power/Volume/IR unit in (from a working tab with a broken screen) and that didn't make a difference.
I left the tablet all weekend and it just keeps showing that it is charging when not plugged in. By Monday the battery was 100% dead. It won't even charge. If I replace the battery with a battery from a working unit I'b back in the same place where I can't get it to boot to Recovery/download.
It's boots to surface logo but no spinning wheel, I've tried a USB recovery from a few images I've downloaded and it want boot from the USB (hold vol down while holdin power)
So I've failed in that does anyone know of what I can do?
Also tried powering it on and off constantly
And vol up and power button
Still nothing!!
Bump. Anyone?
Power it off. Turn it on, when the Surface splash screen appears, turn it off.
Do that 3 times, on the 4th time let it boot, it might boot into recovery.
Hi I need help urgently. I wanted to boot my phone into recovery mode so i after i switched the phone off, i pressed the power button + volume up. My phone was connected to pc all along. problem is, i removed both my fingers off the power and volume up the moment i saw the "OPPO" boot logo, and realizing that the screen is blank, i removed the power cable connecting my phone to the pc. Now, my r7f refuses to boot.
Weird thing is when i connect my phone to the pc, sometimes the pc recognizes an unknown device thats "malfunctioned". This is called 'bricked'? How do i solve this?
I cant even switch on my phone or remove the battery due to its built-in battery. had 70+% battery at the point of occurence.
My R7f goes into the fastboot mode when i hold the power and volume+ . I usually enter to the recovery mode by holding the power and volume -
You have to hold the buttons for more than 2-3 seconds even the boot logo is shown keep holding them.
Please help me! I own a galaxy s6 (international model, official, not rooted) which is stuck in a boot loop from hell. The led is white (not the usual "boot-up blue") and won't change colour or even turn off. It was the last straw a few hours ago when it randomly restarted, got stuck halfway through the Samsung logo and started making the loudest noise I've ever heard it produce. It was NOT a vibration. Ever since then, it has just been stuck and keeps restarting. When it does get past the "Samsung Galaxy S6" screen it just says 'no command' with the android lying on its back. I'm at a complete and utter loss. It's actually done this a few times this week, but I've always been able to at least boot it into safe mode and uninstall snapchat - which I think is the cause of all this. I can't power off the device, and even when the battery drains completely, the same 'no command' screen appears as soon as it's plugged in. I can't boot it in recovery mode as I can't get it to switch off. I think it may be battery related or even motherboard related. I can't even seem to bypass the 'no command screen. It's just sitting on my floor, charging, overheating and looking all smug. Frankly, I'm pretty damn close to hurling it out of my window.
Also, does anyone know WHY the led is sometimes white or yellow during a boot loop on newer Samsung Phones?
Put the phone in download mode by holding Power + Home + Volume Down buttons. Plug in to Odin and Flash Official Firmware or use SmartSwitch

Thanks but I've tried this several times. The device seems to be completely unresponsive to all commands except a force restart (power key and volume down). I can't put it in download mode or even power it off
have u tried using smart switch emergency firmware recovery? power key and volume down should force it to power down, than enter download mode vol down + home + power key.

Whenever I use this combination of keys it just restarts and it doesn't even show up on Smart Switch when connected to my mac
if you are not be able to take your phone to download mode then repair center is the only solution.

Yeah. It looks like I have no other choice
Greetings!
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm having a hard time with this. I was carrying my galaxy S6 on my pocket, and when I got it out I saw that it was stuck on this screen: https:// i.imgur.com/DnddzrR.png
The phone won't turn off. I've tried to hold the power button for a long time, but nothing happens. The only two combinations that work are vol- & power (which reboots the phone, but that's it) and vol- & power & home, which puts it into download mode.
I can't get into the recovery, no matter how I try. Since the only thing I can do is go into download mode, I've tried downloading the stock firmware in sammobile and flashing it with odin, and while the flashing went well and there wasn't any error, the phone is still stuck in the same screen.
I'm not sure what to do or what happened. Please ask me for any info that might be relevant or help.
Press vol up down and lock button and hold all 3 together wait for turn off then try to boot in recovery if it restarts it self then do it again but then after its turn off just hold vol up
I've tried that a lot of times, but no matter for how long do I press the buttons or with buttons do I press, it's still stuck in that screen. Seriously, the only two things that work are download mode and soft reboot.
