Wireless Charging - Windows Phone 8x by HTC

I thought that I would report that I obtained 2 of the LG wireless charging pads. They work great and of course are compatible with many devices. I recommend it highly. I'm hoping to find something that will work well in my car.

I assume you have the verizon version? And all qi wireless chargers should be compatible.

Do all 8X's have wireless charging or is it only available on the Verizon version?

Yeah, but I have read reports that the Nokia pad and the 8x have had issues for people despite both being qi.

You are correct in that it is exclusive, However if you are able to afford an 8x out of pocket (600 ish bucks) VZW 8xs are unlocked to T-Mobile and AT&T HSDPA and GSM Networks! Just thought id share!

And they can take a SIM card? I assume so since you say GSM...

They can take a sim. Just remember that you will not get LTE to work if you try it on AT&T.

Which part?

I'm using the LG charging pad with my Verizon 8x as well. Works well, with one exception.
When you start the phone charging, it'll make a notification sound. After several hours of charging, the phone will periodically act like it's "starting to charge again" by making the notification sound again. I suspect that once fully charged, it stops charging, then after some nominal amount of discharge, it starts up again. Sort of annoying when that point happens to be 3-4am, and my charging plate is on my nightstand..
Have you run into this? If so, is the only solution to turn off the "Play a sound for all other notifications" option under settings/ringtones+sounds? Haven't tried that yet, but if my theory is correct as to what's happening - might be the only resolution.

I have heard people say this but have not been woken up by it. I read online that for the charge pads notification you can unattach the speaker. I'm not sure on the phone other than turning the volume down.

I have the same problem, but nothing I do stops the phone making the sound of the charge starting except turning off the sound. It seems to happen every 15 minutes or so after it is fully charged. I assume the unit discharges enough to reconnect to the charger and start the charging process again. Have you had any luck with the problem?

Nokia DT-901 Fatboy Pillow wirless charger?
I just ordered the Fat Boy Pillow wireless charger. Anyone had any problems with the Verizon 8X?

Update: The Nokia DT-901 Fatboy Pillow wireless charger works great with the Verizon 8X. I didn't do anything but lay it on the pillow and it charged it immediately. No issues!

is there any way I can have mounted wireless charging to my 8X when I don't have one now? Or I have to buy phone from different store that already works like this?

I honestly was expecting to see this. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dreamitwecodeit.wificharger

I found a wireless charging back cover, and ordered it.

Just to be clear: You have a non-Verizon Htc 8x and you were able to add wireless charging to the phone just by replacing your original back cover with the spare part 74H02317/71H04310-08M? (would be really great!!!)

Nokia wireless charger works

I read many reports that the Nokia wireless chargers don't work with the Nexus 4.
I'm here to report that it does work with my stand-up Nokia charger. It successfully charged when I left it on.
It does NOT work on my Fatboy, nor the Nokia plate.

I tried it in the Nokia store, and the standing charger works for me too. There was a bit of connect and disconnect in the beginning, but after that it's continuous charging. No need to position the phone upside down either.

Yeah, I'm seeing a little of that. It will occasionally disconnect and reconnect, but it always keeps charging. I left it charging overnight and woke up with a full battery, so it clearly works.
I wish my Fatboy pillow also worked, but I'm just glad that I don't have to buy ANOTHER new wireless charger for the Nexus.
Anymore input on this? I like the stand idea, and it has nfc built in, so u can have it auto start an app correct...

Can't answer a call when charging with qi

Hello,
i have the following problem with my Nexus 5:
I am charging my phone with a china qi charger at work. Charging works well.
When I get a phone call, it is not possible to answer this call. I slide from the middle to the right, it vibrates once and the circle goes back to the middle. The phone is still ringing. I have to push the power button twice to be able to answer the call.
No problems like this while charging with a cable or while not charging.
Anyone with the same issue or a suggestion?
Generally speaking you're not supposed to accept or make phone calls while a phone is charging. For me personally that would be one of the conveniences of Qi, to be able to pick up the phone and set it back down to charge when the call is done.

It's more than likely your charger. I literally just asked my girlfriend to call me so I can test it and it works. I'm using the Nokia DT-910. I don't know how your finances look but if I were you I'd at least get a used Nokia DT-900, Nokia DT-910, etc. from Craigslist.
I know the off brand chargers are cheap but they are pretty dangerous they can either damage your phone or cause a fire while you're sleeping. Never buy off brand electronics.
I bought 2 Nokia DT-910's for $20 total! There are always deals on Craigslist.

Best wireless charger for galaxy s6

Hi XDA members
in your opinion what is the best wireless charger for galaxy s6
hope everyone give us the price and the link for the product
Well it really depends on your budget. In my case, I am on a tight budget so I'll probably settle on TechMatte Wireless Charger that is priced not more than $25. However, I would really like the official Samsung wireless charger that is priced at $45 on Amazon. It is good-looking, sleeker and has functional LED light indicator.
Here is a good article about S6 wireless charger:
http://www.androidauthority.com/best-wireless-chargers-samsung-galaxy-s6-600922/
Honestly anything that has 3 coils will do well for you. I recently purchased this charger from Amazon, and it's amazing. You don't have to play with alignment as there is more than one coil.

Yep.. ^^^^ what eep02b said.. I have the same exact one and it charges ridiculously good. No issues whatsoever. I've used a variety cases and it charges them with no issues. The thickest case I have is the Caseology and the Supcase.
I don't have the S6, but I do have the official Samsung charger.
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Wireless-Charging-Pad-Packaging/dp/B00UCZGS6S
I'm using it for my S3, that has a wireless receiver inside since my charging port is rather finicky these days. It works fine for that and it's nice that it's low profile, which is what I wanted.
The downside is that since it's flat, not very useful if you wanna watch movies and such, but that doesn't bother me since I only use it before I go to bed. I generally don't run into alignment issues with it, but always a possibility with the single coil setup.
The official Samsung one works with any Qi enabled device, though if you are using it for any other device, besides the S6, like I'm currently doing with my S3, the LED indicator will not tell you when it's fully charged. It'll just tell you when it's on the pad.
I don't mind since I just use my phone's LED indicator light to let me know when it's fully charged. But, keep that in mind, if you want to use it for phones other than the S6.
The 3 coil setup is better in that you won't run into any alignment issues like you can run into with single coil set ups. If you get something like this TYLT charger, you can definitely watch movies and such since it's propped up.
http://www.amazon.com/TYLT-Wireless-Charger-all-Phones/dp/B00DG8NUC8
One other thing you wanna keep in mind with wireless charging in general. It will NOT charge your phone as fast as using the AC adapter (especially since it has fast charging capabilities) the phone came with. If you wanna charge your phone fast, wireless charging isn't the way to go. It's more of a convenience thing. Figured you knew that, but a friendly reminder never hurts.

Yeah I got this one aswell for bedroom, and I have the round original Samsung one for desktop. Samsungs has too bright blue leds to use in bedroom so its more suitable for desk.
Both works great, no issues at all. Might get the QiStone+ later on so that I can have a portable battery with wireless charging capabilities.

Do you have this issue with yours?
No, the only problem that I have with it is when my phone is fully charger and then the screen of my s6 lights up and the sound of the wireless charging plays, and its keep on doing it ever minute or so... I don't know if its the charger fault or the device itself
I have 3 of these around the house, work just fine for me, and they come in different colors and shapes;

I have the same issue, the wireless charger charges my phone just fine. I have 3 separate ones and they all do it, once it gets to 100% it keeps making the charging noise on and off as it looses a bit of power and starts charging again, kind of annoying when it's by your bedside lol. Anyone know how to fix that?
I have the official Samsung charging pad, works like every other wireless charger. Not sure if it was worth the $40 I got it for but the charging LED is handy and it isn't too bright to sleep with (my opinion). It doesn't have any starting/stopping charging issues at 100%.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JA7HNZO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Just bought this a few days ago, absolutely love it. I've set it down maybe 50 times, never missed a charge or needed to re-position it. For $25, you can't go wrong. Only minor down side is the surface is pretty smooth, so people without a case, I could see this sliding off. I use a clear Spidgen case, and have no issues at all charging with the case on.

I found a post that people are saying it's related to the lock screen, when they enable day dream mode it worked for some people. I tried it the phone stayed on for awhile, when I came back a hour later it was flashing blue again so I'm not to sure what the issue is.

Yeah, I can always buy that Samsung Wireless Fast Charger , its just $69 and if you register your new flagship, they are throwing 30% off coupon codes too. However, my point is, if the they have decided to give away these old generation fast chargers, the least it should do is charge. I have tried using a different fast charge adapter and a Nexus 4. Still blinking!
Anyway, I've written back to Samsung about this one, lets hope they get back. If not, I'll have to take it back to BestBuy and pickup another one!

You're right, never saw that piece. Sammy is desperate to sell off its official accessories. S6 Edge accessories were very inferior, so I didn't even look at the Samsung section this time, straight to SpiGen.

Same here. 20 minutes of charging then it quits. I'm going to return it to Best Buy. Maybe they'll give me credit towards a better charger. More likely they'll just exchange it for another.
I have same problem with s6 edge plus. I will try to exchange the phone.

USB Type C cables reviewed by Google engineer

Google product engineer +BensonLeung has tested several cables, and the vast majority of them fail to meet the Type C specification, some even dangerously drawing too much power.
Interesting to note that the hugely popular Orzly cables fail his tests.
can't even trust the word "certified by **** company" on the products anymore. that's why you just can't ignore product reviewers.
Haha, I was just coming to post this myself. Its good we have people looking out for this sort of thing. Stuff like this always pops up in the early phases of new tech or standard roll outs. Remember all the faulty knock off lightning cables for apple stuff when that first launched?
Potentially bad news for those of us with the One+ cables though;
+Rajesh Handa , +Guille Laca, +Jared Valles, +Steven Lefkoff, unfortunately I have bad news about the One+ cables. The One+ cables, despite ostensibly being from a 1st party phone maker, are out of spec. They use an incorrect 3A configuration as well.
I haven't reviewed them on Amazon because they aren't for sale there directly from One+

It sucks he has not recommended any chargers or USB-C to USB-C cables. The only cables he has reviewed are USB A to USB-C and it is my understanding that these will not quick charge the device anyhow.
I have started a Google Sheet to track USB Type C cables and accessories. I have also enhanced to include N5X and N6P products. Check it out!

Remember that the M8 has a 2,600 mAh battery and the 6P has a 3,450 mAh battery. The 6P battery is almost 35% larger than the M8, and will require more time to charge. How much charge did the 6P have when the M8 finished charging?

Ditto. I bought 3 and I might keep them for slow charging, like overnight. The price wasn't bad.
That's is a very fair point and good question. If I'm not mistaken between 65-75%. Nothing crazy, but one thing I will say, I play a game that drains the battery very badly, even after I close and even force close the app (love it so much I am willing to live with it) but I drained it all the way back down this morning playing the game and instead of turning it back on and starting the charge from 1% and leaving it on so I can track its progress (after a restart, the game normally doesn't cause any battery drain until I open it again), I left it off to charge, and I came back less than 40 minutes later and the thing was full.. I couldn't believe it so I turned it on and unplugged it and sure enough, 98%. It could be that the game was causing such drain (which is scary because the it never eats battery after a reboot) that it slowed the charging process, but I guess I'll never know for sure.

I emailed them as well to cancel my order and refund me in full. Waiting on a response.
should we still have to worry about even if we use a basic charger (5v - 2a) to charge our 6P with those generic cables? seems like the google engineer only tested and raised concerned with rapid charging. this might get too far once wireless charging stickers/cases are introduced.

Based on the text in his reviews, it sounds like the risk of damage is to your charger, not your phone. The phone can (obviously) handle a 3A charging speed but a USB A charger most likely cannot.

Ditto. I bought 3 and I might keep them for slow charging, like overnight. The price wasn't bad.

I was thinking the same thing. I bought 2 sets, just keep them around for data transfer and such as most of my stuff will be attached to google official chargers Type C to Type C. May as well, they are beautiful.

That's all I want to know: can I use these "sketchy" cables with an old Motorola charger that's 5V/1A. I have a bunch of these chargers in various places, and I would just like to have the option to top off. Not to mention my car charger.

Eh I personally wont run the risk of ruining my $500 smartphone by skimping out on $10 for a nicer cable.
Any adapter advice?

Google product engineer +BensonLeung has tested several cables, and the vast majority of them fail to meet the Type C specification, some even dangerously drawing too much power.
Interesting to note that the hugely popular Orzly cables fail his tests.

Hey everyone! As you all know im always doing reviews on loads of products and have reviewed these cables with the OnePlus 2! Obviously they work perfectly for that as they were built for the OnePlus 2 originally. I did contact them though and they did let me know that as soon as it was brought to there attention they corrected the issue and i actually received the new version of the cable today and i will review it and have the video up tomorrow! For everyone using a OnePlus 2 its nothing to worry about though. The only items that it could affect are things that power at 3A so just keep that in mind before you go throwing out your cables!
