Hello everyone:
I have a few pictures that are showing up in my photo gallery on my android device that i would like to delete. They are labled as "Picasa" photos. When i select the photos i do not get an option to delete them, only to share them. I tried to download Picasa to see if maybe I could delete them from there, but all i see on picasa are photos from my computer and not these photos that are some how in the cloud.
Any ideas on how to go about deleting these?
Thanks for the help!
You need to go into Accounts and Sync, and uncheck "Sync Picasa Web Albums." That should delete them. If not you'll need to clear the cache for the gallery.

I wanted to share a little trick I figured out today for creating a shared picasa photo album in your android gallery.
Many of you may already know that you can view your albums saved in Picasa Web Albums in the Android Gallery app. I believe this was added in 2.0 or 2.1.
My friend and I wanted to try having a spot where we both can upload wallpapers we find and have it show in the Gallery in Android. Picasa does have the ability to share your albums with friends and even gives them the ability to edit, add and remove. The problem is that this new feature in Picasa does not seem to have made its way into the Gallery App in Android.
I tried a couple apps in the market and they DO allow you to view your favorite albums in Picasa, but they have some drawbacks. Namely they auto resize the images (poorly) and they download the images to your phone. The downloading defeats the purpose of this as we wanted something "cloud" based.
I thought about using my secondary google account that I have registered in the phone. No go, as there is no option to sync Picasa as my primary does.
HOW TO MAKE IT WORK!
It turns out that Google account and Gmail based Google accounts ARE different.
1- create new Gmail account. (REMEMBER GOOGLE ACCOUNTS DO NOT WORK)
2- Sign into picasa with your new Gmail account
3- Add some photos to it.
4- on your android phone go to settings>accounts and sync> add account.
5- choose Google and add your new gmail account.
6- make sure that Picasa is the only radio box checked to sync.
Thats it your done. Go check your Gallery apps and you should see your new Picasa album. Go ahead and give this account to a friend that you want to share wallpaper with and enjoy.
hi was trying to achieve the above but cudn't. Does this still stand true as of now... I am on 2.2.2. Wanted to simply upload my camera photos to another picasa album which is shared with me with upload rights.
Hi at all!

If you disable the Google Photo sync to remove Picasa albums, you loose Google+ upload photos function.
I have the same problem. I tried deleting some of the pictures straight from Picasa and now , where I deleted the photos I get blank spots in my phone's gallery . Also, as you stated disabling the sync seem not to work.
If somebody has found a solution we're waiting for an answer.

Use this one instead the original. First make backup of the original app, then push it with the ADB.
Can you please let us know what edits were made to this apk?

As long as you stopped Google photo sync, try clear cache in Google+ in setting will have picasa albums cleared.
I had this problem as well, after a bit of googling here's what I did and it worked for me (I was offline during this process!):
1. stop google photo sync in accounts & sync settings
2. go into the app drawer and drag the google+ app to the top where it says view app info
3. force stop it and clear data
4. do the same for the gallery app
after that I restarted the google+ app and restored my settings (keeping photo sync off when it asks you on startup of course) and the picassa albums were gone!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I unselected the photosync from account and mounted as USB. Then when to android folder and then to Gallery 3D. Then I went to cache and deleted the files that had picasa in it and unmounted the phone. Then went to gallery from manage apps and deleted data and cache and voila ! =)
1. Make sure your "Google photos" option in "Accounts and Sync" is unchecked.
2. Go to Settings > apps > All Apps > Gallery. Now hit the "Clear data" button
3. Go to Settings > apps > All Apps > Google+. Now hit the "Clear data" button
4. Go to the Gallery app and hit the menu key and refresh.
5. Your albums won't go away immediately. Patience.
I got same problem, here my solution,
Remove that account (after sync all contents you want).
Disable Sync.
Add your account back.
Enable Sync and then fast disable Google-Photo sync in that account.

Cheers, worked a treat!
Or
simply observe Sync 'on', delete album from g+, re-sync, turn off sync.
Any solution which doesn't include turning off Google Photo synch?
For normal galleries, adding a .nomedia file in the directory would normaly do the trick.
Does someone know where the picasa pics are stored in the phone? (they're accessible offline too, right?)
Yea, so I use G+ a lot, and I post bunches of pics, so my Picasa has hundreds of folders that are all labeled by date. On my Galaxy Tab 10.1 I could choose in my accounts to sync Picasa, and then they all flooded is. If I unselected syncing Picasa, they all went away. Great!
Well, on my Galaxy Tab 7 Plus (4G), all of those folders are there regardless of the option. I have checked and unchecked multiple times, nothing. They all stay. I want them gone.
Any idea why these are there, why they won't leave, and/or how to force them out?
Thanks...
Add a file called .nomedia in the folder where the album arts are stored and the gallery will not show that folder's images.

Does the .nomedia file simply hide the unwanted files or does it keep the files from being written to the folder ?
The .nomedia will hide them. If you want to not sync them at all go to settings > accounts and sync > your gmail account >and remove the check mark from picasa web albums.
There is nothing to check ore uncheck from picasa web albums. The only 2 things (in settings > accounts and sync) that can be check. They are backrounddata and auto synchronisation. I had unchecked auto synchronisation but all picasa files was in galarie folder. Background data I need for other apps. But here -> settings > accounts and sync > your gmail account is no place for make check mark or uncheck.
That the reason I dont understand why my picasa web alben where automatically syncht.

You have to open the account to see the next level of menus. See attached.

It looks like your screen is being cut off.
Did you change your pixel density? I have mine set to 140.
Check auto sync in the previous screen and then try

No I dont change the density. I have an Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus P6200. Do you have an Galaxy Tab 7.7 with higher resolution?
The autosync in previus screen is unchecked. Only bachground data is checked.
Edit:
I see another difference. Under the Points Gmail sync, Calender sync, Picasa sync and so on is a line that say: Now type in order to synchronize (tippen um jetzt zu synchronisieren). But i never touched this for picasa before. I only touch it yeaterday long pressed to see if I can choose not synchronize but no long press do nothing only start to synchronize again.
Edit 2:
OK, I found it. On first side autosync must be checked and after this on the second side the check boxes appear.
Hi guys,
I put .nomedia file into the folder that I want to hide, but gallery still show picture & video. Do you have any ideas?
Clear cache and all other and stop the app in application menu. After that alle files are gone.
I want to advice this 2 problem, with my mi note 10, already rised into this threads:

Google photo recognize as 0.7megapixel (960x480) photo taken with main camera, and it will backup photos with such this low resolution.
Amazon photos isn't simply able to complete a backup.
Really bad situation here....
I've already triggered mi support, what we can do?
No problem with Google Photos from my Note 10.
Smae identical problem about Google photo
No problem for me, Google Photos backup 27MP and 108MP photos without any issues

Yeah, no problem here either. All photos backed up in full size.
Some of my photos are backed up but others are flagged as 0.7 Mpixels. It's not related to our phone because I found the issue on Mi9T/9T Pro forums. It seems that moving the photos from one folder and back again to the original fixes the issue.
Same problem
Some photos back up fine, but some show erroneously as 0.7Mpix and don’t back up to Google photos. Those ones also erroneously show no GPS location.
Same problem. To correct it I have to clear all the data of Google Photos app and delete low res duplicates. It is really annoying
There is a workaround it (better than clearing the google photos)
the methods are:
1. Open the built-in Photo App. Create an album(ex. G-Backup Album) inside the built-in photo App. This will create a folder with the same name as the album.
2. Select all you photos and click "Add to" button below. Then select the "G-Backup Album" album and click on "Move" option. After this, all photos will be moved to "G-Backup Album" Album.
3. Open Google Photo App, add "G-Backup Album" folder to the list of backup folders in the Setting. Then you will see that all photos are being uploaded normally and the size are shown correctly.
Makesure u dont open the Google Photo apps.. before you do this methods
Hi Wing_Zero85 in my case something similar happens to my "mi note 10".
Neither the amazon photos app nor google photos automatically upload the photos to the cloud.
I have activated all the permissions, I have tried many things and nothing, they do not automatically upload photos to the cloud.
With google photos it doesn't bother me too much, but with amazon photos it does bother me.
For amazon photos to upload photos to the cloud, I have to manually open the app, because it doesn't automatically.
For the other apps, there are no problems, whatsapp, telegram ... they work well in the background, notifications arrive well .....
But what happens with the amazon photos app is very annoying and frustrating.
When I take a photo it is synced from gallery to google photos
When I take a screenshot it is not always synced, and sometimes I have to go into the screenshots folder and manually sync.
Is there a setting to sync all photos taken? [SOLVED] hat tip to

In Google photos, settings/backup & sync/backup device folders. Enable screenshot and/or any other folders you want backed up
