Hey XDA -
Just picked up a Galaxy S3 on Verizon and the phone doesn't seem to want to activate. In theory it should have been capable of automatic activation upon initial power up. At any rate, once the S3 is turned on, it just sits at the "Activating" screen forever and doesn't seem to actually activate with the network. I've already tried rebooting and re-setting the SIM in the slot. Do you all have any advice? At the moment I'm on hold with VZW customer support to see if that helps, but if you have any insight, do share!
Cheers!
Sparky
Go to the vzw website and activate there also. That will fix it

Every since I flashed jellybean leak #2. Every time I lose signal it will not stop begging about global mode. Does anyone know how to disable this pop-up?
Devices:
Samsung Galaxy S3 - stock JB leak
HTC Incredible - JB Inc RC3
Sorry I can't help but I experienced the same this weekend when i was out in the country. As you stated it is pretty persistent. I ended up just saying yes then once I got back to having a signal I had to reboot my phone to get rid of the roaming data warning.
I hereby demand VZ to improve their coverage on the outskirts of River Falls, WI. Do you have any idea how emasculating it is to have to tether to an AT&T iPhone to update NFL scores?
Have you tried changing the mobile network settings on your phone to LTE/CDMA.

Here’s a question, has anyone noticed that the Samsung S3 will not allow the user to use the camera while the user is on a call?
Recently I had a customer point out to me a new security feature that Samsung seemed to put into play on the S3, he was working in the backyard of one of his properties and he had a client wanted to see some photos of the property because he was looking to rent or sale the location but to his suprise the camera would not open....
All it showed was a notice saying "Warning : Unable to start camera during call" and to my suprise I tested this on my device and learned that this seems to be by design.
*Has anyone else noticed this and do anyone know a way to disable this option if possible?
Any feedback would be appreciated….
Just tested it on Synergy JB r118, no warning, and took the picture fine.

Yea. Its just the stock camera. I tried with instagram, power can, and color. Those all worked just fine.... sounds like a dev project to remove that check to me

There's a post in one of the sub forums somewhere that says what you have to edit to enable the camera during calls. It's just one line that you change from flat to true. I forget what file it is.

Well, for one, this is the wrong section bud. This is for the Verizon version, nothing else. Secondly, you can't use 3g and talk at the same time.

So to begin my problem, I have a SIII which is a wonderful device but since i don't root my phone anymore, its causing me a pain as to fully using the phone globally and not being able to use the Internet, , and i was wondering if there are anyone in the same situation as me. and was hoping we could get a long chain of complaints to the BBB so that verizon may unlock the feature which should have been present from the future! Maybe i am asking for too much, but if there are people with similar problem, then maybe we could see some action taken by verizon and actually be able to the phone in the US and abroad too!

From my experience you need root to change the APNs for data. why don't you just root? shouldn't be to hard

I'm not sure that it was Verizon's decision. In any case, since it may be a while, you may just want to root. I'm overseas now and it wasn't hard for me to change apn's using apn manager pro. I set it as a system app first in titanium backup.

I think only the Verizon S3 and Verizon Note II has these issues, all other phone APN's can be changed without root!

My brother recently purchased an S3 off ebay to replace his Droid Razr. The reason for replacing the Razr was that he couldn't get any 4g on it. I gave him my gnex to use while his S3 arrived and he had perfect 4g on it. Now that his s3 arrived he has no 4g yet again but is able to recieve 3g signal. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
also, if this thread is in the wrong place then mods feel free to move it.
Probably should go in q&a since it's a specific question but at least it's not in development
My guess would be it's a bad sim or defective phone. Have you tried to reprovisioning? There should probably be a guide in the sticky by droidstyle or just use the search.

I would try the new sim. I had that once before too. It is weird but I had it work for me.

If you are rooted try different modem/rpm and if that doesnt work see about the sim card. Just make sure you go back to stock before you go to verizon
Maybe start really simple with - is the phone's Verizon account setup for 4G?
If it is a stock S3 you should be ale to make it Verizon's responsibility to make it work.
