Hey, I don't see anywhere in the internet world where someone goes in depth about the new facebook and new twitter widgets. I see there is a new facebook widget where it has comments and likes...can u see the update and like it without going in the app or click comment and it takes u straight to the post or is that just external visuals? Or like the lock screen has the Facebook updates flying by... can u interact with those besides sliding them and going to the next one? And how about the twitter widgets? Any new updates in it? I would appreciate if someone would make a video about this or elaborate for me. I'm anxious to get this phone. Would be nice to know that newer features are integrated in heavily used apps like that

I've added and "Edit" section under 'Sense' for the FriendStream widgets.

.................... anyone?
Is there any widget that shows what would be in your notification bar?? Particularly one that is customizable. I want to put it on the lock screen, like the new IOS 5 lockscreen.
Never live in the past but always learn from it.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think standard (non-root) apps are allowed to read/see all your notifications.
Well I am rooted.

i'd like this too, also rooted, something minimalist would do nicely

Thats what i'm using now
It works well and its fairly customisable but it only shows notifications for calls, texts and emails.
I think Tennis11 and me are both looking for a widget that shows all notifications e.g. facebook, calendar, app updates, IM etc
So Im loving this phone just like everyone else but im curiouse if it is possible to have the number of missed text and stuff on my lockscreen while i have security on such as the pattern feature? Or does it have to be on swipe in order for me to see any of this?
bump
Use goSMS pro. You can customize it to act like an iPhone whenever someone texts you, it will show up in your screen without unlocking.

Really now? is it possible to get a screen shot of an example of this? haha just because im kind of married right now to the stock messaging app but that little detail you just mentioned might make me switch
Android 4.0 allows you to access the drop-down notification bar from the lockscreen. I'm not sure if it works when there's a password, though.
I don't have access to my phone for the next week, so I can't exactly test it for you, either.
EDIT:
So I looked up the issue a bit more, and found this old thread from last year talking about the GoSMS Pro lockscreen pop-up notifications:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231142
For some people it worked, but for others, it didn't. I suggest you give it a quick read.
Try DashClock of you are on 4.2 - looks great and does exactly what I need!
Search it up on Google Play, I cant post links yet
the drop-down notification bar from the lockscreen.
Now that Chameleon Launcher has hit the Google Play market for real, I thought it'd be a good time to start a thread on xda for widgets made for this very promising Android launcher.
NOTE: The URL to the Chameleon Launcher 'make a widget' page that contains all the information required to make a widget, including a template, is HERE
Please, post your creations below...
Cool! And I subscribed to this thread.
I want to dive into developing widgets because of the lack of them. Chameleon says we can use the source of their widgets.
So I wanted to make a EU style datetime widget but i cannot find the source of any widget except for an empty template.
There are links to the widgets landing pages but that only gives me the source of index.html. And I think I need more than just that.
Anyone knows more about it?
I published my question and then i thought that maybe i am posting in the wrong forum. If so, please Mod, teleport it to the right one.

Almost all the neccessary files are linked in the index.html; you can find all the stylesheets and javascript files there. Also, you know there is a manifest.xml-file in the template-folder, so maybe you can find that by adding /manifest.xml to the url. (don't know if it works!)

Chameleon it's an overhyped %&^$ !
I regret paying my hard earned money to backup this &^*%&
Thank God Google didn't bought it to use as the future interface of Android ), it wouldve mean total surrender to Apple and it's ios.
@hobolooter - It's ure right to disagree, as it's my right to say it's and overhyped crap.
The idea behind it seems good but the result...
Maybe with the help of the community it would become useful indeed - good, practical widgets needed ! , not just stupid widgets for the teenagers, which are cool for the first 10 minutes and after that....

Theres a lot to be improved.
Good luck with your work!
I disagree and think it was in poor taste to post that in this thread. The fact that they opened up HTML5 widget development that actually works well is awesome. I'm working on a few widgets myself and a starter kit that doesn't suck (the one they provide is nauseating to a js dev).

Regardless of what your rights are, this is a place for adults to discuss things..so please act and type accordingly. Thank you.
I personally wouldn't buy Chameleon until they lower the price but hopefully a thread like this will inspire development to spice it up. :good:

Yeah, good idea. I like that one...
Needs a decent calendar widget (needs similar functionality to GO Calendar, I haven't found better yet) and a News Republic widget before I'd consider purchase.
Also I hear custom wallpapers aren't supported?

You can use any wallpaper you like - just send it to Chameleon Launcher from the Gallery. No live wallpapers though.
Cool. Will a wallpaper changer app work too?

I'm gonna say no because I couldn't get one to work... probably because they're all essentially live wallpapers

Interesting... You tried the one by j4velin just called 'WallpaperChanger' on Google Play, as I don't believe his is programmed in such a way as to make it a 'live wallpaper' ?
Can your Chameleon homescreens slide/rotate like other launchers?
Sorry for hi-jacking, but I've been following Chameleon's progress and couldn't find these answers elsewhere.

Yeah you can swipe from one screen to the next
Still won't work because you have to "share" pics one by one with Chameleon for it to be available

Custom wallpapers are supported. Just share any image to Chameleon App.
I've been playing around with a Chameleon widget that displays unread emails from an IMAP account. It uses PHP (with the IMAP extension) to fetch and process the email headers on the server, which works nicely but is less than secure unless using SSL (which I am), since the email account credentials have to be sent to the PHP script in plain text.
I'll admit that I've had very little experience writing for Android--most of my recent work has been with Javascript and PHP. I seem to recall being told at some point that it would be either difficult or impossible to fetch email data from the native Android email app to use in an HTML5 widget platform like Chameleon. Is that the case? I'd prefer to get the data from the local device, particularly because I need to support Exchange.
If you've got more experience with Android's bowels than I do, can you confirm (or unconfirm) the information I'd been told? Is there a practical way to access the email files with Javascript?
Thanks!
D.
I tried it for 10mins and I think it sucked a lot on my Nexus 7, I think all the free ones are better I can see why it is paid but 10$ is kill.
Also I am surpsised we are allowing a PAID app to be supported on XDA we should delete this thread
Is there a way that you can get the Quick Action feature from the iPhone 6 on Android? I'd like to be able to hold down the Twitter icon and Tweet from there. Not sure if this is possible but it sure would be cool.

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
If anything, that would be a custom launcher feature, using apps that support it. The site has launcher threads abound, just need to find your favourite, and then ask for this feature, assuming it is possible.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
