You can delete bloat apps (like AT&T's) if you root, and you will be sim-unlocked. Google for "attn1 aahk."

All what bananagranola said, and find all the information you need in the guide in my signature. S-OFF gives you total control of your device from removing bloatware to changing the rom, besides changing radios, bootanimations and so on...
The Hack Kit link is in the guide...

Hello all, first of all yes I am a NOOB , second , I searched and i have not found any information. basically I have 2 HTC EVO 4G phones and both are locked onto the Sprint network , I have seen tutorials on YT that show how to "unlock" these CDMA phones , I was always under the impression only GSM phones had the ability to be carrier / sim unlocked , am i wrong ? also these videos mentioned that this is NAND Unlock , is this different than carrier / sim unlock ? could some one give me a simple explanation of this nand vs sim unlock difference ? what would be the benefits of unlocking these EVO 4G's if any ? and what would be the best method to go about doing so ? Ive used unRevoke as well as Visionary root methods and i have basic knowledge of how to use the SDK ADB program as well. Can anyone help me clarify all this info please ? thank you so much for your help

No benefit. Because they're CDMA you can't put a different SIM into it. All you could do is switch to a different CDMA network. You'd need to do that through Sprint as far as I'm aware and I don't think they'd be too happy about it =[

If it's an unlocked GSM phone, it will work with any GSM carrier. I don't know if your phone is carrier locked or not, though. Also, custom roms don't control which carrier you can use.

You don't need root or ANYTHING to unlock your phone.
1) get SIM that is not the network the phone was originally on
2) buy unlock code from local dealer or trusted ebay seller. You have to give them your IMEI I believe
3) put that SIM in and when prompted, enter unlock code. Phone is now unlocked for any SIM card for eternity

This is my first thread and I'm new to rooting so I have an htc one s which has Rogers ca applications but it does not have a sim because I got the phone from a friend which I can't contact so my question is, if I root it, will it require the sim code and I am not sure if my phone is unlocked ??

No, it won't require sim code after rooting.
Safe to root it.

Does anybody found a way to do it? i cant buy it online....
SIM Unlock
If you have your phone paid off and/or have had service for a few months, you should be able to get the unlock code and instructions from TMo. They provided me with the aforementioned info without any pushback. Just call their support number or hop on chat and they will help you out. Also it's free
