Hello all, first of all yes I am a NOOB , second , I searched and i have not found any information. basically I have 2 HTC EVO 4G phones and both are locked onto the Sprint network , I have seen tutorials on YT that show how to "unlock" these CDMA phones , I was always under the impression only GSM phones had the ability to be carrier / sim unlocked , am i wrong ? also these videos mentioned that this is NAND Unlock , is this different than carrier / sim unlock ? could some one give me a simple explanation of this nand vs sim unlock difference ? what would be the benefits of unlocking these EVO 4G's if any ? and what would be the best method to go about doing so ? Ive used unRevoke as well as Visionary root methods and i have basic knowledge of how to use the SDK ADB program as well. Can anyone help me clarify all this info please ? thank you so much for your help

No benefit. Because they're CDMA you can't put a different SIM into it. All you could do is switch to a different CDMA network. You'd need to do that through Sprint as far as I'm aware and I don't think they'd be too happy about it =[

Hi there,...
i thinking of buying a HTC one s for my girlfriend,... I have some questions and I hope you guys can give some information
I saw that the HTC One S (T-Mobile branded) is beeing selled for about 399€. Non-Branded device is about 450 € +-
My first question,... is it possible to remove the t-mobile branding by installing a original HTC Firmware to this device? Normally this shouldn´t be a problem, right?
Second question: I saw that there are some devices with a new chipset?? Are there any problems with the first chipset or what is the reason for this "second chipset (C2)" ??
I´m little bit afraid of buying a device with the first chipset because 2 month ago I´ve bought myself a HTC One X and it was affected of this WLAN issue,... so I was forced to send it back to Amazon,... Don´t want to experience the same trouble with the One S.
Thanks in advance!!
with best regards

ok, thanks for the answer so far.
Are you sure that t-mobile is just selling devices with a S4 processor?

Does anyone know this t-mo phone will work well with other gsm carriers? Or one'll have to unlock the bootloader first?

TMOUS phone works great on other GSM network, but it depends on your network.. I'm on AT&T with One S and still get HSPA:11
You can just buy an unlock code online or request one from TMOUS if you can, otherwise you need to unlock the bootloader -> root -> follow the sim unlock process on the dev section.

I was wondering if you had any luck getting this on a gsm network..I know cricket is CDMA but I have read a few different websites listing the specs for this phone and some say it is GSM capable while others say it is not. Currently I am messing with it to see if I can get it on AT&T. Is this even possible. Thanks in advance.

No I couldn't get this to work
Apparently my searching skills are rusty. This simply has to be a thread somewhere.
I just picked up an HTC Inspire 4g as a backup phone. I'm on Solavei, so I need to SIM unlock it. I have read through a few guides, but keep running into discontinued tools for rooting.
I don't need to do anything but unlock the SIM. How do I do that?
Enoch
Your device has to be gsm unlocked. Or u have to get a contract
