When I press the volume up or down, it presses them together.
Just like in this video:
youtube.com/watch?v=NMM8aa4UaDM
Couldn't find how to fix this, solution anyone ?
To be honest, that sounds like a hardware problem.
But you could try removing the back cover and *GENTLY* press each of the buttons on the phone itself.
If that works you cover buttons got messed up.
Otherwise it's probably (but not 100%) a hardware problem.

probably hardware problem. annoying one.
Sorry to hear that.
It is an annoyance as you said, but these buttons are not a must, different apps, roms and mods can change the volume for you.

Hi all,
If you need to reset your sensation just hold vol+, vol- and power together and keep them held until the phone reboots - usually a couple of seconds.
Much easier than pulling the back off and removing the battery.
Mod - please add to the stickies.

Indeed working fine, tested and restarted the phone about 5s after i pressed the buttons.
This doesnt always work, but will most of the time. Last night I had to pull the battery since this method wasnt working. Its worth a try before doing a battery pull though.

Another method is to just use ADB commands to reboot or reboot into recovery. IE: adb reboot or adb reboot recovery.
I had to do this when recovery stops responding.
Ummm... By the time you have counted to 5 and hoping the phone resets, you could have clicked back off, pulled batt and clicked cover back on.
If you are quick
Just tried it - works pretty well. Thanks for the tip.
If you look in this section, there are people losing their volume rockers or disturbing the connections between battery cover and body by repeatedly removing and refitting the battery cover.
This way, there's no risk to the phone.
Plus, you can reset the phone easily if it's inside a case.
You're welcome to keep pulling the back off though if it makes you happy.

Do you have a Sensation? Did you see how the cover looks? Don't you think that removing it frequently will cause damage?
Oh yeah, and removing it is really "fast" and "convenient" if you use a gel case.

Wow take a chill pill mate! Only having a joke!
Yes I do have a Sensation. It has a lovely screen protector on it, it is rooted / running ARHD and it has one of them clicky leather pouches that you get for £2.50 off Donington Market. More to the point, I have been repairing Steve Jobs equipment for erm... Years now!
Low post count doesn`t imply that the person is a muppet! Indeed, you could learn a thing or two my friend in Bucharest...
Some phones are not designed to be hard resetted in the way the OP describes, but yes it is an excellent tip.
My post doesn't mention any other phones and is only posted in this section, so I'm only talking about the Sensation. I haven't tried this on any other device so I can't say if it works on any other phone.
All I said is it's an easier way of performing a hard reset on a HTC Sensation or HTC Sensation XE without removing any parts.
I'm no expert, I'm just sharing a tip I found. Use it, don't use it, it's absolutely fine by me whatever anyone chooses to do.
Chill, people.

Thanks, almost saves lifes heheh. Pulling the back cover can be a pain sometimes.
Hey Guys, I finally got my Sensation back from repair, of course its completely stock now. I sent it to repair because Vibration didn't worked anymore. I thought it could be possibly got cracked by myself applying s-off with junoptobear (i don't have any idea if its correctly written). Do you have any experience with that?

Edit: My Sensation is a Vodafone Germany branded Device with ICS (4.0.3)
different roms have different settings for the vibration feedback, but if your on stock then maybe your phone is still broken? or it works fine now? also make sure haptic / vibrate feedback in settings is checked.
I think you got me wrong, it got repaired and its working now but I don't know how it broke. There are 2 reasons I could think of why vibration broke, the first one is that datrepair (german HTC repair partner) ****ed up the vibration while repairing the cracked screen on my device before it was rooted or myself applying s-off. I don't know if it worked before because I didn't really used the phone before.

I suspect it was the screen repair that caused the issue. I recently went through juopunutbear to S-OFF my replacement/replacement phone. I can't see how that process would have screwed it up.
No. S-off did not break your vibration.

Vibration and haptic feedback is coded in kernel afaik.. And soff process don't touch that.. In fact soff only modifies bootloader and some flags to get permanent soff

I thought it could've broken the hardware (the wire-trick). I did it like described on one of the pins and the sd casing (I'd say I did nothing wrong because it was s-off after that). So my exact question should be: Could the wire trick possibly damage the vibration motor? I'm sorry that I was not that precise.

the wire trick technically does grounding on that pin ..which takes the phone to download mode for some time after first tap and then back to normal with the next tap..thats all ..i dont see any way that can dmage the vibration motor ...and afaik i havent seen any facing this issue after SOFF
Thats what I wanted to know, thank you, I'll s-off my device again with no fear.

I can confirm 100% that after screen change motor stop work in HTC Sensation. Maybe different part revision, wich i doubt is the case cuz replacement part is working fine and picture is perfect.
What is funny, i try fix this vibration problem after screen change for a few days now, replaced with new on PCB at the end just to see that it isnt workin again
By accident, when i got call i drop phone on table, maby 5cm height drop, and vibration start working for few sec then stop again, and it always go on if i hit phone at time when it should be working.
Still havent found solution to this.
My power button doesn't stick out very much at all. It used to be a nice clicky button but now the slightest touch will turn the screen on and sometimes causes the phone to reboot from it holding itself down.
Anyone have the same issue who fixed it and is willing to shed some light?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Only way to fix it is to exchange it for another one. I'm on my 5th phone. Its annoying as hell.
I'm rooted. Will HTC still exchange it?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I have the same issue. I'd prefer not to deal with exchanging it so I'm hoping that when Sweep2wake comes to the latest rohan kernel I can substitute that for the power button.
The buttons all light up but don't work at all. I have the phone all disassembled but dont know which connector it is? Can someone please help me so I can see if its connected right.
OR How about mapping the BACK function to the camera button? I can deal with that lol i'm running cyanogen mod 9
Maybe like, have it be half press on camera is home, hard press is back? And hold is menu?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium
If you have it torn apart the cable connecting those buttons should be obvious
But if you don't want to replace it and are willing to remap then there are apps in the play store that can add soft buttons to homescreens

Yup I figured it out and almost did it exactly like that before reading this lol.. used the volume down button as back though since its easier to reach. Thanks
For the last year or so my lock button has gotten harder to press and doesn't have that "click" feel to it. Does anybody know why this is or how to fix it?
EDIT: my power button stopped working all together. If anybody knows how to fix this or turn my phone on without adb(to switch batteries), it would be greatly appreciated.

take off you back cover and see if the plastic button got somehow trim
try also to press the power button with a toothpick or with your finger
to check if you have the same hard pressing
I have 2 back covers and both of them seem fine. How can you tell if they got trim? I used my finger and a sharp object, they both turn it on but it feels the same

hmm, i don't know what else to suggest
did the device ever fell from your hands and hit in that spot?
if yes maybe it can cause that issue
well i tried to clean out the dust with a can of air and it blew out this little film thing and now it doesnt work at all hahaha but i got the device set up to use the vol up button as a power button but it is only recognized when it is powered on. does anybody know how to boot the device without adb? im currently using adb to start but its a pain to have a computer around to start the phone. i switch batteries a lot so its really inconvenient. btw i noticed that the phone doesnt turn off if you remove the battery in bootloader if it has a usb cable plugged in but i cant select any of the options without a power button
Bump
