I have been trying to install Videos (by Google) from the market and every time I hit download it acts like it is going to start and then decides to stop trying to download.
Can anyone install from the market?

Having the same problem, though I don't know why you need Videos. The screenshots are of Honeycomb, and one of the reviews says rooted devices aren't supported.

I was interested in trying to rent a movie from the market and my previous understanding was that the Videos app was required. If the Videos app does not work, it is not worth renting a movie. I would also want HDMI out to work i.e. not be blocked like Samsung Media Hub.

I was able to download the app no problem. Haven't tried renting anything yet because its kind of a rip off.

If you connect it as a media player, the xbox will detect it...but you have to manually pick the song you want to play and when its over it will just keep repeating that song till you manually pick a new one...i know its pretty lame

It works on mine with just plugged in as mass storage. No app needed.
Yeah for some reason my box won't pick up my phone when its in mass storage mode. Kinda sucks :/

JottaCloud recently released their app for their Google Play Store and it is basically like a cloud storage back up for Android. You can set it up so it automatically backs up your photos, MMS, SMS, and songs to the cloud. It is like DropBox but even better.... and more storage.
You have to keep in mind though...
They are offering you only 5 GB initially...but if you sign up and download the android app ..you get an addition 10 GB...
Do the MATH..
5 GB + 10 GB = 15 GB...WOW!!!!
Learn more about the app here:

Running eclipse rom on galaxy s3, jottacloud sync will literally not stop. It syncs, finishes sync, starts to sync again. I had to turn off auto sync to get it to stop. Anyone else experience anything like that?

And by "so YOU can get the extra 5GB", y'all mean "so I can get 5GB more", right? Haha!
Not sure what the point of this is. I signed up kind of on impulse (and got the 10GB extra) but I don't know what I'd really use it for. I may just uninstall.
Contacts... Google backs that up anyway. I suppose if you're running CyanogenMod sans Gapps, this would be good. Otherwise... Why?
SMS/MMS... I don't know about y'all but once the message is received and responded to (or not) I'm done with it. Not sure why you'd want to keep them around.
Pictures... Dropbox automatically uploads my pictures, so I already have a solution for that. This offers more space, though, so there's that.
Music and video... For one, I have videos I don't wanna sync. Two, it would take longer to download them from the Internet than it would take for me to just copy them back from my computer. So why would I want to waste time uploading all that multimedia? Even if I do it while I sleep, if I need it back, downloading would take more time than transferring it via USB/WiFi.
It's a nice app. Would be nicer with an inverted/black theme, but that's a minor gripe. And it will probably show up in a later version. A Google Play commenter mentioned 4G/LTE sync. LTE would be faster than my home WiFi/DSL, but I haven't got it. For those of you who do (and have unlimited data) this feature is definitely a noticeable omission.
I really use cloud storage quite often. Jottacloud has very good integration with all OS and offers great pricing. Free users get a lot of storage no charge. Can't see a downside.

This isn't like dropbox. It automatically gets your SMS/pictures etc from your phone and uploads them. No files or anything for you to choose and upload.
Works perfectly. Already clicked on someone's referral, so got extra 5 GB. Only downside is that there is no option to select manually what you want in the cloud.
Here is my refferal if anyone needs it.

They go into the DCIM folder and depending on the settings of the camera at the time of the photo, one of the subfolders of DCIM. They aren't stored in other locations unless specified by a third party camera app.

Like rorty said they should all be in DCIM or in sub folders inside DCIM. I know you can hide things on your sdcard from the gallery by adding a . In front of the name. So if I want to hide LinuxImages from gallery I would name it .LinuxImages. so see if he has hidden folders with the pictures.

What app are you using? Stock gallery app - if so what android version? (gingerbread, ics...later? (might be helpful since we don't have that device...)
Something to consider - and may be what is the case - they could be pictures no longer there.
A thumbnail of each picture is saved into a thumbnails database - once there it kinda becomes independent of the picture. The gallery is actually displaying whatever is in the thumbnails database, and could be showing pictures long gone. It does happen at times.
I like to use QuickPic as my gallery app (it's awesome!) and it stores the thumbnail database in /sdcard/Android/data/com.alensw.PicFolder
See if you can track down the thumbnail database for your gallery app and (back it up first!!!!!!!!!) delete it.
Next time you open the gallery app it should generate a new, current thumbnail database showing you more accurately what is on the device.
After that, long press on a specific picture in the gallery might get you a pop up menu you can select a details or properties option from? That should tell you (one at a time...) where to find each picture.
Note: thumbnails are tiny, low resolution copies of the picture and not what you want to end up with, just one clue on the path of finding what you are looking for.
Hope this helps some.
Hey
Firstly, sorry if this is in the wrong place!
I'm seriously looking at the LG G2 as my next phone but keep coming back to the fact I'd be getting the 16gb version and the lack of SD support.
Just wanna get opinions on how easy or impractical things like cloud storage would be.
I'll have access to 4g network when I am out at work, WiFi at home and then whatever is available when out and about.
Got the standard 15gb allowance on Google drive and something like 28gb on drop box, neither of which are currently touched an awful lot.
Data plan will for either 10 or 20gb depending which I go for
First up, how I KNOW I currently use phone (nexus 4 got destroyed so currently sans-mobile)
.snap happy with the photos
.bit of music but not masses of it
.usual assortment of daily apps
.few games often small flash type thing, but sometimes big files
.various kindle books/PDFs etc
How I plan to use it going forward
.streaming music
.putting more music on the device than I would now
.using that camera more
.downloading movies over 4g (faster than my home BB)for viewing on big screen later
.using camcorder more (not some thing I do a lot historically)
.access to movies/TV shows when its quiet at work
Now, the 16gb nexus 4 did me alright but I'm thinking, higher res camera and shooting 1080p/60frames video, downloaded movies etc might shift the landscape a bit
Keeps making me think I'll just get a galaxy S4 for the micro SD but I do think the camera on the g2 is great and I like flashy new processors a lot.
So do you guys think the 16gb internal mixed with cloud services would be alright and effortless enough or just take the hit in CPU/GPU stats and camera and go with the galaxy s4 and a 64gb micro sd
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I'm probably not going to be any help but I currently do all that with my Note 2 and everything works great. I don't know what the stats of the G2 are but I stream all my music and movies from Dropbox. (I have 54gb) I use box for all my pictures and I use drive for all my ebooks/pdfs. Never had any issues with cpu/gpu. Movies get blurry once in a while but that's an issue with my wifi or LTE.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Its just the internal storage I'm questioning.
I've only even used dropbox and the like for very light things, bit never used them day to day or to compensate for a small capacity device so I don't know how well that system works in real world terms.
Like I say, 16gb was fine on the nexus 4, but then with that device I wasn't using 4g to download full movies and such, nor was its video footage as rich.
If its a chore I'll just get the s4 and big micro SD and forget about the beefed up specs on the g2, but if the common opinion is that the cloud system thing works real well I'll stop worrying about the limited internal memory and go order one (the g2)

If you rely heavily on the cloud to store most of your content then 16gbs is really a nice amount of space for stuff. I have around 50 apps (that includes a few games) and still have roughly 5gbs left.

And you don't find it a pain in the ass shuffling things on and off of cloud storage?

Hi there, hold tight, i have a solution for you. I've got myself an LG G2 as well, and was first quite sad about the lack of micro sd slot. The mobile connectivity around here is not as good, so cloud storage is not a good idea.
Till i found this: http://www.meenova.com/st/p/m3r.html
It's a tiny micro sd reader, which allow you to expand your phone with any micro sd or micro sdxc up to 64 gb.
There's a short YouTube video showing how it works on G2. Basically it's recognized instantly as an external storage. You can plug it in whenever you need the app or music or whatever else stored in it.
