I'm trying to figure out what I did wrong when upgrading my TF300T, and how to possibly fix it.
I installed an unofficial nightly build of CM10 back in early August (before the official builds of CM10 for the TF300T were out), with CWM recovery. That ran mostly fine - the occasional lock-up and reboot, but not too bad. Recently, though I wanted to upgrade to the most up-to-date stock firmware (10.4.2.17, US version). I downloaded the firmware from ASUS's site directly to the tablet, and after some aborted installs (due to an un-extracted .zip file... derp) I got the new firmware to install.
Now, however, the device only boots to the brushed-metallic ASUS logo and puts up a spinny dot-thing ("working..." indicator) and gets stuck. I even left it plugged in overnight and it didn't budge from that screen. Also, when I do the key combo that used to take me into recovery, it now gives me the boot option menu - RCK, Android, USB device, and wipe data. Trying to boot RCK gives me the clockwork mod android on his back with an error sign above, so obviously that's screwed up. However, the bootloader seems intact. Any pointers on how to fix this?
EDIT: OK, fixed. I just had to wipe data and it booted properly on the next reboot.

Yeah, i finally made it. I bought a TMO-DE One S (With S4 Processor) 5 Days ago, unlocked the Bootloader (HBoot 1.09), rooted and SuperCID´d it, installed CWM Touch and installed TrickDriod V8.0 incl. its Tweak Package. After that i installed another Radio and everything was fine. It could have been SO easy, but i just HAD to do more, and now its soft-bricked.
At all TrickDroid is a really good ROM, but i hated the thingy that it shows G symbol instead of H when getting HSPA speeds. So i decided to dump it and go for a 4.0.4 / Sense 4.1 Stock Rom without branding instead until a JB / Sense Rom comes out. And thats were the trouble started. i flashed the stock rom with CWM, installed the boot.img that came shipped with it and booted it up. I did a full wipe before flashing. It booted up, Sense Stock Background Image came on and it showed "Unfortunately Wiper App is closed" at the "Preparing phone storage" stage. After OK´ing that another Screen came up about some system service wouldnt respond (dont know the exact Text anymore) wich i could close or wait for it. No matter what i do, or if i do nothing, after ~20 seconds the phone crashes and restarts. After the first restart the phone only boots into a black screen but with the Android bar at the top is working with time, battery-charging and a warning smybol. But the Phone wont react to anything i do except for lockscreen button. When its "online" i can push files via adb to the internal SDCard so i thought it wouldnt be a big problem. i pushed ONE MaximuS V2.5 ROM to the SD Card, booted into CWM and installed it. then flashed the boot.img of it via fastboot and booted it up. but nothing happens. still black screen with bar on top and not reacting phone that reboots every 20 seconds. i allready tried full wipe, cache wipe, dalvik cache wipe and i dont really know what to do now.
A broken SD Partion cant be since i can push files via ADB to it and install them with CWM. But whatever i try to install every ROM boots only in this blackscreen. its clearly not hanging in bootloader, but in android itself. I dont really know what to do, and returning to my dealer is no option since Rooting, SuperCID´ing and flashing another ROM. You maybe have a Idea what to do now?
Peace
TK
PS: Sorry for my bad english, hope you can understand it
Edit: Okey, i got something. i formatted everything i could in CWM, and now (as its now supposed) it hangs in bootloader since no system is there for booting. The good thing is in CWM i get ADB Connection so i can still push files to the SDCard. Im now trying installing a ROM again. So at least i have a starting Point if it fails again
Edit 2: Okey, found it. The "Stock" ROM is broken, not my Phones Fault. and MaximuS just doesnt install right so nothing was changed. Installed TrickDroid again for testing and everything is fine again. Close this one...
I have the shield tablet LTE version and after connecting to WIFI it immediately installed all OTAs upto the hotfix also. So here I am sitting with lollipop in my tablet and I decide to go for rooting and CWM installation.. After rooting using adb/fastboot and installing CWM image, I decide to disable ATTall access because I read that it stops the portable hotspot from working. So, did that and then process after process started crashing. First it started with background data not being enabled (playstore wouldn't open) , NVidia hub crashing, google text to speech crashing, etc.
So, I went to cwm and did factory reset. At the initial stages itself where it asks for language setup, the google text to speexh crashes and I cannot click next or proceed forward.
I flash the Lollipop OTA once again thinking it would overwrite the system but it didn't.. and the same issue keeps happening..
Now what do I do?
Regards
Alden
An update to the mess i was in...
I tried recovery mode at the fastloader boot menu and I got the robot lying down with a red exclamation mark sign. I pressed vol + key and it opened the original recovery I think. I wiped user data from this menu and rebooted. and now it has come to the original screen setup and so far no process crashes...
What could have caused this entire mess?
I am not sure what would cause your issues but i believe your best bet is to download the full rom image for your tablet and flash it via fastboot. That should get you back up and running. (Be warned doing this will erase everything on your tablet!! SD card will be untouched)
By fullmrom u mean the one from the nvidia developer website right?
Yes that is the one! I am currently at work so I cant post a link to it but if you need it ill try to post it once im off, in about 30-ish minutes. Good luck! (p.s. last resort is RMA)
Is your shield up and running once again? Just wanted to get an update. =]
Thanks javydawg, I didnt use the one on nvidias developer website as i simply did not have enough data left in my Internet plan .. its 2.3 gb in size... after recoVery i was left with lollipop so i flashed a 750 mb file tht i gt from these forums and updated it to the latest version.. i still haven't pinpointed the reason for my earlier trouble but will shout out if it happens again... have to be careful cos not sure if RMA is possible for me in India...
Hi All.
So I'm not new to rooting / ROMs (nor am I an expert, as you'll see), but somehow have totally screwed up my tab. I've now honestly done so many things to try to recover, that I couldn't begin to summarize how I got into this mess, but I'll try.
Model is GT-P5113. Most recent working ROM was SlimLP 5.1
I went to flash CM12.1 (using CWM) and God only knows what happened. After it flashed, I tried to reboot and it would only go to CWM recovery. If I chose to reboot device, it would only shutdown, not reboot (This was actually one of the issues I was having with SlimLP as well, so I don't think the flashing had anything to do with that???)
After many attempts at reinstalling CM and SlimLP (I used the same Zip that had worked previously with SlimLP, and the flashing would say installed) it would still only boot to recovery. I finally said, screw it, I'll just start completely over
So attempted to go back to stock 4.2.2 using Odin3.09. Got the stock ROM off SamMobile site. ODIN seemed to flash, but again when it would go to reboot, it would just power down and a charging battery would show up. So I would unplug from the computer, push power button. When it powered up, it would say Installing system update, then after the status bar moved a bit, it would say Error and shut down. When I restart, it very briefly says installing system update, then show the dead android with a red triangle and No Command, and it would boot to the stock android system recovery (I assume CWM was taken off in the process). In yellow, under the stock recovery it says
# MANUAL MODE #

Applied the CSC-code : XAR
Successfully applied multi-CSC.
I've tried installing the other ROMs again, this time with TWRP, but only for it to boot to recovery after the Samsung Tab 10. 1 logo.
I have no clue where to go from here. No clue if I'm still rooted (doubt it). At this point I don't care. I just want a functioning tab. I've spent hours searching, but nothing works. I'm open to any / all ideas.
Thanks
Aw, show me a little love, bros. Someone' gotta know something. I'm not above begging / pleading.
I can give more info, less info, post somewere else. Just let me know, and help me resuscitate my tab.
thanks again!
I was running KatKiss 4.4.4 on TWRP v2.6.3.0.
Lately it was getting extremely slow. Yesterday I removed some apps I didn't use anyway. I think I removed too much perhaps because today suddenly gapps and many other things started crashing.
I thought I'd just reinstall it, and discovered there's now a KatKiss 6.0.029:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/eee-pad-transformer/development/rom-t3318496
so I downloaded it, and all the other files, rebooted into TWRP and wiped, and tried the install - it just left me with a boot loop. Ugh.
Got back into TWRP and happened to format everything. Then I installed Universal Naked Driver 0.72 in Win10.
Current behaviour:
Regular reset: boot loop.
Power+up: APX mode.
Power+down: tiny menu, then boot loop after cold boot.
Power+down+up: TWRP.
EasyFlasher asks me to go into APX, then I select one of TWRP 2.2.1 and RogueXM and Roach CWM and even the WW_epaduser9_2_1_24UpdateLauncher.zip file, but in all cases it's just the same. There's some text output, then suddenly a 0.001ms black popup disappearing before I can read it, then the regular window says OK. BUT... there is no change at all.
Any idea what I can try? I searched a lot before deciding to ask here.
The KatKiss link above assumes that the files are already inside the TF101.
How do I put the files into the TF101? What is the next step?
After mannnnnnny hours, I actually managed to install and run the Asus ROM.
I went on to TWRP 2.8.1.1, KatKiss 6.0.029 and the belonging files. Now it's booting up Android, but... not very far.
It keeps complaining with many popups "Google Play services stopped". Is that normal for a fresh ROM?
I add Wifi - then it gets stuck on Checking Connection "it can take a while". It's now more than half an hour. How long is a "while" normally?
I gave up on KitKat 6 and went back to 4.4.4 which then starts.
Still the weird frequent popups "Google Play services stopped".
Reinstalled three times now (KitKat and gapps) and still the same problem.
Could this be a hardware problem?
Well, for all you who read all the above (no one? lol), it is not a hardware problem. It's google messing up: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ee...google-play-services-update-breaking-t3555444
When I got my replacement tablet for the recall, I followed the instructions to kill the kill switch on my old tablet (a 16gb Wifi only version). I deleted the TegraOTA folder, and used the zip file as well. I then installed BlissPop and have left it that way since.
A few days ago, I decided to switch from the now-defunct BlissPop over to LineageOS. For some reason, I couldn't get the tablet to boot into recovery (I installed the TWRP app, wouldn't boot into TWRP; I flashed TWRP using fastboot, wouldn't boot into TWRP; I flashed Nvidia's stock recovery, still wouldn't boot into recovery).
So I decided to flash stock, but new everything (I think the 5.2 or 5.3 version). Booted into OS setup (without connecting to network) so I could enable debugging/connect with ADB. This worked, so I rebooted into bootloader and finally got into TWRP. But, because of shared storage, I couldn't get into system folder to see if TegraOTA was back. So I decided to go back to original stock so I could access internal storage. Performed a factory reset, flashed the very original stock system/recovery/boot from these forums.
Restarted tablet and... nothing. Black screen. When its plugged in, the light shows it has charging, but no amount of time or effort pressing the power button will get it to do anything.
Did I brick it somehow? I've flashed various upgrades, OTAs, custom ROMs on both Shield Tablets I've had and am 99.99% sure that I didn't do anything wrong this time. Did I unknowingly flash something that would allow the kill switch to be thrown even if the tablet was never connected to my network? Is there any way to test? Basically I want to be certain its 100% done for before I toss it and buy a new tablet (I sold my replacement earlier this week, which is why I decided to upgrade the old one in the first place). Thanks in advance for any help!
If you installed latest stock and system detected tablet with bad battery it probably killed itself even if you did not connected it to internet
