Hi all !
I'm looking for a battery saving ROM that works on Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G , Cyanogenmod 9 is not working as fabulously as everyone is saying , it suck up about 1% for every 3 minutes on a average apps like Wordweb , Oxford dictionairy or Longman Dictionairy while on 300 Ghz min and 800 Ghz max and on powersave stratégie , that's even worse than the Official ICS and that's very disappoiting , i flashed CM9 like 3 times ! when i just do it , the apps sucks like 1% for every 10 minutes and that's at a low battery level (15% or 20%) but when i shut the phone and i fully charge it , the apps suck up 1% for every 3 minutes .... i don't know what's the problem !
So do you know any other Custom Roms that could get my life Battery extended ( i m wishing to get this up to 1% for Every 9-10 minutes ) ?
Because of the controversy and arguments they inevitably generate, "best ROM" threads are prohibited on XDA. Thread closed.

Cycled 3 times now and the first day with moderate use I went about 8-9 hours. It was awesome. Now that I'm using it a little heavier and will actually be using it quite heavily with data, gps, browsing, phone calls etc. I am noticing maybe that really isn't enough... I need like 12 hours or more like I hear some people are getting...
So I ask you XDA, what is THE BEST way for me to achieve super long battery life with heavy use. I'm already using SetCPU (settings below)
2100 maH battery? (Will this even be a huge difference from our current battery? I don't know what our stock battery maH is..)
3800 maH battery? (If this ends up being the best solution...I need a good case to support it and these usually don't have those...)
A way to turn off LTE?
...any other way to get 12+ hours out of my phone with heavy usage? I'm never in the car long enough or at a desk long enough some days to be able to plug my phone in and charge...
Also, I've searched and searched and can't find anything other than "The LTE is still on even if you use X ROM, or turn X settings off, or install X kernel/radio." Is there any new update on how to turn off LTE on the Skyrocket when rooted?
My SetCPU settings:

Please help. I NEED to find a way to do this. I'm a network technician and having no access to phone calls and emails is tough. Also my family and loved ones after the work day and I'm still out doing errands for another 4 or so hours and my phone is 0% dead isn't a good thing.
*Note: If the 2100maH battery takes the stock back plate and it can give me what I'm asking for I would PREFER it. I have an Otterbox case I dropped $50 + SH on and I'd like to keep using it....

I found a 2250maH Battery on ebay.. MFG is Andida. $13 shipped. Fits in the stock battery location with the stock cover. I have an OtterBox case. All is well! Worth the 7 day wait!

Thank you Hemi! Is Andida a good brand or something? Or are you just letting me know so I can find it? Just curious. How has the life been? I had an Atrix before the SkyRocket and I know a MAJOR issue with that phone was anything above stock that was breaking the 2000maH mark WOULD NOT register in the battery's true %. No matter what cycling, "fixes", battery stat resets etc. that you did. Does the battery on here show you the actual stats? Would this battery last long enough to meet my needs? 12 hour day with heavy usage?
Sorry for the question bombardment...but if this will really answer my needs which I really need answered ASAP, I will drop the $ for this immediately.

How do you UV?
Also, what do you guys who've under clocked found as a good clock to keep it at? 1.5ghz is REALLY high IMO and I normally have it cap around 1.2ghz...anyone found a good clock to run around and it still be snappy and smooth?
Also..how do the guys with stock batteries get those 12 hour times? Is it just moderate usage? Will the 2100mah or 2200mah batteries give me what I want? 12 hours high usage? Or do I need to go with the 3800mah seidos I've been hearing a lot of good reviews on...?

Can't help with the battery, but I run 1080 max 192 min, battery is more or less same as 1500 max for me. I get 4hrs screen on time, maybe 3.5 if there's above average voice use. This is with data on the whole time. I've found my battery is just about completely dependent on screen time, minus some expected drain over the course of hours but that's very minimal.

In my experience the Extended Samsung Nexus battery is a better solution than the Andida.

The battery and mfg is the only one I found that was a 2500maH. It was the largest I found that kept everything I wanted (stock battery, cover, etc). There might be another CO that makes one, but this is what I've found. Two weeks and running. It charges the first 65% like a banshee, then slows down for the remainder.
It's worked well for me, extending my day and making life easier. It really doesn't take any longer to fully charge than the stock one did, just longer life throughout the day.
Hope this helps.
You thought about getting external mobile charger or just spare batteries? you charge everything when you got the time and then just swap around when needed.
have i got a solution for you my friend...
I'm testing a set of tweaks i made for my old phone which is working well. These tweaks provide excellent battery life and incredible performance gains.
Just to give you a quick snapshot, I'm at 22+ hours uptime @ 28% under moderate use. I'm not oc/uv either, and i am on official aokp Rom.
I plan to have it finalized by Sunday as long as my normal life duties don't interfere...

I am the exact same way with my skyrocket, heavy use for work and need at least 12hrs+ battery. So after much research, Looking at extra batteries to carry around or the tweak/root/rom method, which is way more convenient then carrying around batteries all the time.
I rooted my device, put SKYICS on it, and tweaked the CPU and UV, and now I'm using my phone heavy and at hour 12 i'm at 39%, so happy now with this phone now. It does me. Give it a try, believe me you wont be disappointed.

Im on JB CNA 3.6.6 and i wonder why CpuSpy is showing me unbelievable results. Before that i was fully charged 12:30 pm. Its 7 pm now and its only 56% In cpu spy i got 1000 ghz almost all the time (maybe 43% for 1000 ghz and 30% for Deep sleep and the rest for other freq. like 800 ghz below). I use Revolution kernel. I think this will fix it but i no. Its incredibly annoying compared to GB whole day just 30% drained with music/wifi/sms. But on this only sms? half day took half of my battery..
you post in wrong place dude but i think your battery problem is issue in codename android 3.6.6
Move to RemICS1.7 ... it's battery friendly

1. Make full wipe
2. Use battery calibration for re-calibrated your battery
3. Try to set CPU Governor and I/O Scheduler

Is this a battery saving measure?
If so does it work?
Performance?
atrix2 running majicmod
galaxy tab 2 3113 running cm10.1 nightlys
iPhone 4 traded for some computer work... just sits there...
cant say about battery (not much diff.) .... but performance has been affected lil bit
I tried that app for a few days. It seemed like it would prevent the phone from waking back up, because the screen wouldn't come back on. Evey time I would have to pull the battery and reboot. I finally uninstalled it and haven't had that problem since.
Isn't hotplug governor have that feature? so you dont affect performance and stability

i tried several governor & felt a lil decreased performance with single core being OFF
but anyway we can oc it n have our performance back ( in my opinion )
because i havent oc'd yet

I used to own a rarz i xt890 (2 ghz single core) and i can tell you that an OC'd core will never be as good as two cores working together , i run mine at min 300 mhz max 800 and never noticed any lag at all, phone lasts almost 12 hours ,on heavy usage (mp3 about 7 hours, like 3 or 4 hours of 3g browsing and like four or five 15 min calls) ,at night my batt drops 3% or 4 % (6 hours sleep) with wifi on, i think hotplug governor does a damn good job at saving batt and keeping your phone smooth as it could be with an locked bootloader

Hi all I've come to a decision that buying the Nexus 5 is worth it, a perfect collection to my devices
The Snapdragon 800 Quad 2.3 got my attention and its pretty cheap
I would like to ask about the battery life and if there are any custom roms that improve it
Thanks alot
Hi,
For the battery life it will vary from each users, it depends on your usage and settings (screen brightness, synchro, GPS, etc...), for more details you can take a look here for example: Nexus 5 Battery Results. Some users have 7 hrs screen on time, others 3 hrs (plus the idle time to take in consideration) for example, like I said it depends of your use. If you are a gamer the battery life will not be the same as the user who use its phone only for SMS.
Again you will have different opinions (and people that claims that x rom or x kernel is the best for battery life, you'll have the same number of opinions as there are different roms / kernels and it will not help you more...), for some the battery life is great and for others it's terrible, etc..., I would say the average is a day for about 4 Hrs screen on time with "normal" (or "light" use, I mean not 1 hour of Dead Trigger) use. It will depend of what you will do with your phone?
The battery life is mainly on the user side, it's not x rom or y rom that will give you better or worse battery life (unless a big issue in the rom, but... or sometimes it's the Gapps that drain more than usual it's right). If you have a bad signal or a rogue app that give you a ton of wackelocks so higher battery drain, whatever the rom or the kernel you will use it will be always the same thing.
If you want improve your battery life, know what apps you have, how and what they do in background for example (to avoid wackeloks), you can underclock, etc...
Take a look here also about battery life and kernel: Nexus 5 Battery benchmarks.
And there is already a bunch of threads (and review) about battery life in the Q&A forum...

To add to what they said though, certain Kernels with certain Roms can HELP with battery life but it all boils down to how the user uses it. I can tell you that with my same usage on KitKat and Cyanogenmod 11 (CM11), I get better battery life out of CM11. I recorded about a 4 hour longer battery life on CM11 as opposed to default KitKat that comes on the device.
You should look into CM11, it's a cleaner, more effecient, more customizable version of KitKat.
Hope this helps!
Great job to Viking on explaining battery life/Roms
@viking37, I Saw on some reviews on the internet that it comes pre-throttled ( pre underclocked ) is this true

Underclocked, for the Nexus 5 , I never saw this, have you a link?
All Nexus 5 are clocked at max 2,26 Ghz, nothing less... It seems that there is different variants of the S800 (clocked at 2,4/2,5 Ghz) but the S800 in the Nexus 5 it's 2,26 Ghz (MSM8974AA).
Maybe you mean this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(system_on_chip)#Snapdragon_800?
I have no issues with battery life ... I consistently get 14-20 hours of use with 3-5 hours of screen time or 2-3 hours of screen with 1-2 hours of voice.
Auto brightness, GPS on, nothing special.

battery life is terrible but after some modification, it better a lot.
