[11-22][EG04]Centered Ticker Date/Time & more color - Continuum Themes and Apps

This is just something I've been working on for myself, but figured I would put it out here in case someone else wanted it.
WARNING!! This is based on Trailblazer's Mods, the latest is the Grip Sensor Mod found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1997238
If you are not using that mod, I not sure if this will work for you....but it might.
It would be helpful if you are familiar with Trailblazer's Themer to get the most out of this.
This mod will center the Ticker Date/Time. I also made it so if you use Trailblazer's Themer to change the clock color it will change the date color and if you are using the AOSP or 4TAB lockscreen sincluded in Tb's mod it will change the text color on them too.The color is set to red in this package, but you can change it to what ever you want using the themer
It also has new softkeys with some text added...they will NOT change color using the themer, you can change the softkey PNG's using the themer.
It also will change the ticker weather icons. I use the icons from Ciscogee's mod's, so thats what is in this.
This also has a mod for the Ticker Missed Notification Screen. I don't use the stock email or IM apps, so I changed it so if you press the email icon it will open your GMail inbox and the IM Icon will open the stock contacts. It will NOT give you any notifications for Gmail, that is something that I may try later, but don't get your hopes up!! If you don't want the notification mod, you can just open up the zip, pull out the Framework-res.apk. and push it to your phone however you like, or let me know and I can separate them if I need to.
Let me know if you use this and have any problems. I've been running it for a couple days and haven't noticed any issues.

The only problem I had was that it showed the new soft keys layout but had the old soft keys feel, example: menu, home, back, and search.. But that's actually not a problem for me since I know how to fix it. overall I like it. red is a color I haven't tried out in a while if you have others I am willing to test them out with no problem.

Hmm, not sure why that happened... I pulled it right off my phone with the correct ICS key mapping. Sorry about that!
Do you mean different colored softkeys? I think I have white. When I get home I will post the PNG's here. They are easy to change with any editor, I use pixelformer, but ms paint works too. Just change to the color of your choice, put them in the softkey file in TB's Themer and they will show up in the options.
The color for everything else will change to whatever you set the clock color too with the themer.
Did the changes to the ticker notifications work ok?

No no I mean the red Ics layouts were there but when it came to pressing them, for example the back button, the menu popped. Having the original continuum key layou but this was nothing but a quick fix. no real problems with it.
edit: By the way you gave me an idea on the color so I'm gonna theme the phone red. I'll show you an example in a bit.

Yeah, it just did the same thing to me too. Had a little issue last night and basically had to rebuild my phone from scratch... Long night
I'm not sure why it reverts back to the stock key mapping, I KNOW I had the correct mapping when I made it. But it seems like it's done that to me before.
And the red has grown on me too
I had it all a dark blue while I was testing it, but it was to hard to see in the dark. Can't wait to see what your working on!

ok thats what I thought, I did find a few of the icons, I think 4 outta the 6 but I amd still not sure how to make the background black instead of white and change the text to white from black, thanks for the reply!
Changing the background is most likely gonna be a 9.png image and changing the color of the txt is probably gonna be buried away in XML file.

The images are in framework-res.apk in the drawable-hdpi folder. They are menu_background.9.png and menu_background_fill_parent_width.9.png. I too am trying to figure out how to get the white text instead of black, so I can change the background. Once I figure it out, I have the images I want to use.

black menu for AOSP roms
I'm stlill looking for a way to get my menus black on cm 6.1 stable. I don't want a full theme b/c I want to use my own transition animations and other custom feats. I like the stock black theme that comes with cm 6.1 but want black menus! Can anyone point me in the right direction???
I have a metamorph theme that will give you want you want. However you will need to then pull the framework-res.apk because I have noticed the metamorph may cause issues with force closes. But once you have the framework-res.apk jut make it into an update.zip and when they flash it they shouldn't have any problems.
black menu cm 6.1
Really? That's awesome! Where can I find your metamorph theme? I just tried to pull the menu back ground out of cm7 framework-res and placed them in the cm6.1 framework-res.apk and zipped and installed, it kinda worked just no text in the menus!

Thanks for the help but I'm only looking to mod the menu to look like they do in cm 7. I've tried ninjabread but when I go to metamorph my transition animations it sends me into a bootloop then off to restore back up. Is there a theme zip for menu only? What part of the framework is value.XML located?

Values is a folder that will show up once you decompile the apk. It is actually present in almost all apk's res folder.

To be honest I likely wont make this for the theme chooser while I respect all the people who are making themes using the theme chooser I personally can't see myself investing that much time into something with less functionality than what I have now, I like the idea that I wont have to port it when new versions come out but the minor agro I go through with that is nothing compared to the theme chooser so far /rant

those are controlled by the systemUI.apk the status_bar_expanded.xml
you will have to add in the color code you want by adding in
android textcolor="#ff33ff33" <- thats the color code for bright green you might want to find a color code that matches androidian
there are 3 lines that need to be changed (i will post the lines from the .xmls when i get to my PC)
sadly the theme chooser to my knowledge cant make those changes

Would you happen to know the color code for black or dark grey? That's prob the best for what I want. I am nearly positive the theme chooser DOES change the bg for the sprint banner and the power widget banner, but NOT the bg for notifications. If it does, I can change those in the androidian.apk, if not, the systemUI.apk will work. Once you put up the info I will give it a shot sometime this week or next (super busy at work, and my home comp it down for now) and I will let you know what worked/didn't work. If possible can you PM me the files/colors, for easier access later

are you looking for the text color of ongoing, no notifications, notifications or the color of the strip they sit on?
the strip they sit on is controlled by a png i think that can be controlled by the theme chooser, and also the sprint banner and the power widget is all the same png
color code for black is #00000000 btw a dark gray i think is #00151515

I am looking to change the background banner color, which is currently white. I guess I didn't think of it but if I change that to black, I would then need to change the text color too, lol. If you are cool with it, PM the how to on both (and a .png/dropbox link? for the bg if you have it), I will try to fing the GB green color code for text.
i think i can do that
#ffbaff00 is the color I used for the minimal green board that I run with androidian. Matches rather ok, imho.

Sense Theme: "Sense and Sensibility" [v .1]

Sense and Sensibility Alpha
Alright guys, here it is! This is an ALPHA version of a theme called "Sense and Sensibility." This isn't just to look like sense. The graphics were taken directly from stock sense.
TAKE NOTE: Tested on CM7. SHOULD work on most ROMS but who knows. So BACKUP!
Instructions:
1. Boot into CWM
2. BACKUP
3. Flash SenseSensibility.zip
4. Reboot/Rejoice
Any requests for things to be themed (sense-styled of course) can be made and most likely will be implemented considering I've never owned a Sense phone and don't know what is themed where.
I'd love if someone could tell me where I could change the color of the text in the menu button popup.
Downloads:
v .1: Click me
Themed things:
Header of lists (settings, messaging, etc)
Tabs (dialer etc)
Long press homescreen popup
Power off menu popup
Battery
Checkboxes
Menu button
Selection (turns a nice green) (pictured)
Loading animation popup (spinning circle)
Text box/text box highlight
Send button (SMS)
Text selectors
LOTS MORE (If I forgot any, let me know)
Things to look forward to:
Status bar
Fix menubutton background to make text readable
Dialer!
Widgets?
Make it more Sense-like.

Yeah haha. It's in alpha stage and it's mostly minor enhancements (so far). I also themed when you press down to select something. The major things I'd like to incorporate are a sense dock and lockscreen. These are mostly UI tweaks.
****. im learning. I'm basically taking a sense ROM and porting (copy paste ) the GUI. I'm working on it and just wanted to share what I have so far.

I would love some help. You can flash it and see for yourself, but when you hit the menu button the text of the menu popup cant be read because the menu background is too bright. Do you know I can change the font colour of the menu popup? Haha. Either that or i'll have to edit every menu icon in photoshop and add a title below it
You want to look in framework-res/res/values/colors.xml...you will see the colors for various text, whether its bright or dim text, set against bright or dark background. Remember though, unless you made the change to the textApearance values already, then the background color you would consider will be what it still thinks it is. So my guess would be, maybe dim_foreground_dark

Crap. Im not much for decompiling.
Mr Hat,
I tried this theme with TWO different ROMS (Faux AOSP 1.3.1 and Weapon G2X 2.5)
The after flashing the theme in Recovery and rebooting, I got stuck in the bootloader screen-loop in both roms.
Luckily, I read your instruction and made a backup. Anything else I can try? Do you have a ROM that you recommend other that what I'm using.
First of all, Weapon is a rom based on 2.3.3...this theme is not for that rom. I suggest you do some more reading on the different android versions and the impact on choices of roms, kernels, themes, etc.

Hey man, I recommend you browse this a bit. It goes way in depth to theming.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916814
Decompiling is really easy if you use a GUI like APK Manager, and I use EditPad lite for xml files. Good luck with it; I got burnt out on theming quickly.
i like how poeple are quick to flame you and then they read your post then have to edit. keep up your work. look forward to how this develops.

Thank you for the heads up. I guess I didn't do enough homework.
Mind sharing which ROM you're using? Or maybe toss out a couple ideas? It'd be much appreciated.
Of someone can send me a thorough set of screenshots of what Sense looks like in most aspects of the ui, I will make something happen. Pm me when you have something for me, and I'll give an email to send it.

[2/28][Trailblazer101] (Awesome) Ticker Modification Package!

Trailblazer101's Ticker Modification Package!
Hey All, finally decided to release this package of mine
Before I begin, I'd like to share that this should be flashed on a plain EC09/EC07 rom, deodexed and all... I would prefer if you tried it on EC07 clean, and if you try it on Miunia and it doesn't work, that's why It replaces almost all of the Framework files, for compatibility, but I'll guess we'll see
What this Mod Does:
-removed unnecessary "0" in front of times below "10"
-Holding down on the date/time acts as a button, with customizable text taking the place of the date, and the color of the time changing... When released, two different things could happen: If screen is off, then it'll unlock the phone; if its on, then it'll open the Clock Package!
-Now, to open up the WeatherBug program from the Weather Icon, you must hold the icon down until the beautiful overlay appears... Then release, and it'll open! This prevents accidental bumps, which happened to me all the time... [I'm left handed ]
-Long-Pressing the "Missed Notification" icons will open up the given screen, whether you have any notifications or not! Very Handy
-The New Event Ticker Screen, including the New Message, Email, and etc, now behaves like the RSS Ticker Screen--Adding a Nice blue color when touched, to indicate it has been...
-Also my "Blue-Wave" Mod with "New Events" is in there too
-New, easier to look at StandbyView format... I like it lots Matches what the boot animation looks like, which i always loved
-In Ticker Music View, the Song name now scrolls when it is too big! Nice little touch *Will not scroll when the music is paused, and you then skip songs, and after for the first song after minimizing the "MusicPlayer" app... (Because you should've already of seen the full title!)
-Quick Launch Menu! Hold down the "Ticker History Button" from anywhere (*as long as Ticker Music Screen isn't active with Music Playing) to launch the Quick Launch Menu! These icons provide an easy way to get to your favorite, predetermined (Sorry, ) programs.. Pressing the Close button will do just that
-Standby Screen! Have you ever been in your room, dark as could be, with "Screen Filter" on to lower the brightness of the screen, but then you notice that the ticker is not affected, and your eyes begin to water ? Maybe it's not that extreme, but if you hold down the close button revealed after holding down the Ticker History Button, you are greeted with a black screen with some clickable gentle-to-look at text. Clicking the text will bring you back to the normal screen!
- Completely Redone "Return to Call" Mod is included! Now includes four buttons, Return To, Mute, Speaker, and End the Call Buttons are completely working, with notification light indicating that they are on! This took me a longggg timeee to do, a project that has been going on for at least a year, on and off... It took so long, because I had to completely incorporate the speaker and mute buttons into the phone, because what if you push the speaker button from the status bar, and not the ticker? Everything needed to be linked... I edited Phone.apk, framework.jar, framework-res, and services.jar in order to get it to work perfectly, like it does today

up up up up
any chance you can make the clock on the Ticker centered? Always bugged me to see it off-center right above the Samsung logo that is nicely centered, especially when the ticker history button and weather buttons are removed.
Yeah, I could do that probably
Just because you don't have any new messages, missed calls, emails, voicemails, or IMs doesn't mean the icons in the Missed Notification Screen should go to waste Why not make it so tapping them opens up their respective apps anyways, making a quick, convenient shortcut Oh, and the Voicemail icon is remapped to Google Voice

I think I love you <3
Making the ticker better, one step at a time Should have time to upload this finally tonight! It's been done for forever, just never took it out of beta
Edit: The pictures don't represent the final product... I got rid of the blue background, and made it long click... Also, I made the weather icon long click too!

if you use my eco9 deodex and one of my themes and flash this over it. it will work but major theme will be stock cause this mod is written to stock apks
Edit
See below
Don't flash this on EC09! Lol There are subtle differences in the framework and elsewhere, that I can't guarantee compatibility, at least not in the long run
I'll release my ported version tonight maybe xD I am just getting.... Bleh.... From having to support everything

I'm not using twlauncher, so it won't really "fit" with my set up, BUT, that's pretty freaking impressive! Awesome work!

its nice!!!!!
love the options as always and how u have ticker mods in tsm.
OT question?
i manage to make stausbar dissappear when editting the wrong things lol, so i was wondering what all would we be able to mod in the soft key area? like could we use that 142x400 line or what not to show statusbar? and use rss button realistate to call on softkeys in ticker for a slightly bigger screen.
just thought of if at 4am while working on zimage repacking all night
Or maybe set search as expand statusbar.
What do you think buddy?

Well, I have been trying to modify the softkey area for a while now.. What I personally wanted to do was allow rotating of the softkey icons What I saw when trying to do that though was the kernel and services.jar working together to display the softkeys/set their functions...
To answer your question, kinda, I will throw out my thoughts. 1) Because of the "gray screen overlay" overtop of the softkey area, it'll make the statusbar 'dulled' down, which would probably turn everyone off (including me )... 2) If we did manage to move it down there, there would be the ultimate problem of 'expanding' it then, since the softkey/main/ticker screens are all declared as separate screens, and moving in between them in one swoop isn't really possible. 3) The code to display the notification bar is within framework-res, while the code to display the softkeys is within the kernel/services... So being able to swap the functions from the notification down to the softkey area won't be (easily) possible...
But, your last comment might just be do-able... Actually, what would be even more doable would be having a 'button' in the ticker that would 'show/hide' the notification bar... That's because the functions for the softkeys are pre-set at /system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl, and I wouldn't know where to start adding a custom one ...
EDIT: are you looking to hide the notification bar on just the homescreen, or everywhere???
EDIT EDIT: I came up with two adb commands for implementing hiding/showing the statusbar EVERYWHERE... Looking to incorporate it now in java...
i kinda figured kernel issues cause of the 3 screen issue.
well ive been messing with repack kernel and got one repacked with su and busy box and actually turn boot ani off, (for quickboot). looking to add init.d as soon as i revert back to stock to test rooted kernel and get statusbar back.
since i havent had a statusbar for a couple days i was enjoying the bigger screen and thinking of a statusbar button (pulldown), or what not
any and evrything (discussion etc) is appreciated.
Wait, you successfully compiled a kernel for gingerbread? Or you just modded what we had?!
And I managed to make an app that will turn on/off the statusbar everywhere for our phone, and I managed to take the code and get it work inside the ticker... However, what would you like the 'activation' method be? Getting rid of the 'Ticker History Button' function, and instead setting it as the source for enabling/disabling the statusbar? Or a button somewhere in the ticker, (like where the sleep mode usually is), that does it?
Or has this side-tracked into something you aren't interested in, hahah

I can add the triple tap function no problem, but you gotta pick out the icon you want, haha.. You can either have just one image, or two, either works for me!

Awesome. Had to start from stock again.... it sucks when I had a great hacked kernel, then I didn't back it up before I hackeed another zimage in the same folder to replace it
