How to theme menu popup - Droid Incredible Themes and Apps

Can anyone help direct me how to theme this. when on the homescreen, and press the menu button you have a list of options that popup including: all apps, scenes, add to home, wallapaper, notifications, settings
I would like to make it black background and the pictures and text white, so basically revert it. any help as to were these icons can be found and how to change to text color. please and thank you for any help!

That would be Rosie. Are familiar with rosie?

ok thats what I thought, I did find a few of the icons, I think 4 outta the 6 but I amd still not sure how to make the background black instead of white and change the text to white from black, thanks for the reply!

Changing the background is most likely gonna be a 9.png image and changing the color of the txt is probably gonna be buried away in XML file.

basically this is what im looking to get

It's not rosie. The pngs for the background are in framework-res and the text color is in com.htc.resources. the icons are in both and in the apps themselves.

The images are in framework-res.apk in the drawable-hdpi folder. They are menu_background.9.png and menu_background_fill_parent_width.9.png. I too am trying to figure out how to get the white text instead of black, so I can change the background. Once I figure it out, I have the images I want to use.

black menu for AOSP roms
I'm stlill looking for a way to get my menus black on cm 6.1 stable. I don't want a full theme b/c I want to use my own transition animations and other custom feats. I like the stock black theme that comes with cm 6.1 but want black menus! Can anyone point me in the right direction???

I have a metamorph theme that will give you want you want. However you will need to then pull the framework-res.apk because I have noticed the metamorph may cause issues with force closes. But once you have the framework-res.apk jut make it into an update.zip and when they flash it they shouldn't have any problems.

black menu cm 6.1
Really? That's awesome! Where can I find your metamorph theme? I just tried to pull the menu back ground out of cm7 framework-res and placed them in the cm6.1 framework-res.apk and zipped and installed, it kinda worked just no text in the menus!

The text is in values.xml once you de compile the frame work if you want I help make a gingerbread theme for cm6 this is what my menu looks like. If you want it just look for ninjabread in the theme section
The op of the topic broke his pc so I took it over. So the newer one is close to the last post and not the op.

Thanks for the help but I'm only looking to mod the menu to look like they do in cm 7. I've tried ninjabread but when I go to metamorph my transition animations it sends me into a bootloop then off to restore back up. Is there a theme zip for menu only? What part of the framework is value.XML located?

Values is a folder that will show up once you decompile the apk. It is actually present in almost all apk's res folder.

I really hate to be a pain, but... THERE ARE A LOT of values folders once I decompiled the framework-res.apk. which values folder would I find the text for my menu's? If anyone has the time or patients and are willing to help me out, hit me up on gtalk... [email protected]

wish I could help you, I only got as far as the OP thanks to the theme I took all the hacks from. running an evo rom such as myns, already has a GB theme, it's very time consuming to do this when you know what you're doing, and near impossible when you don't

[MetaMorph] Taskbars & Lockscreens (Updated 2-26-2010)

SPRINT BASED, UN-ODEXED, 2.1 ROMS ONLY!
These are all MetaMorph files! Do not try to flash them as an update.zip! You have been warned!
By downloading any of the below links you agree that I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone.
Misc Stuff:
You can use any combination of the 4 lockscreen Morphs, so you can do a slide lockscreen with no text and a clear background, or a rotary lockscreen with text and a custom background. Mix and match till you're happy
The reboot after any of these Morphs (with the exception of the two background Morphs) will take a very long time, since they all edit a framework file and have to re-write the dalvik-cache.
If you encounter any problems (random reboots, FCs, etc.), try rebooting, then wiping dalvik-cache, then fixing apk UID mismatches.
Taskbars:
AOSP Taskbar:

Same result here... I'm going to try to push a different framework-res to see if it corrects it.
EDIT: That seems to have fixed it. Push the framework-res from Sushi or Ic3Rom. I've attached the Ic3ROM file. This looks the best IMO.
Code:
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
adb reboot
This + cyanogen launcher.apk = win

I structured the folder framework in the framework-res theme wrong, it is fixed now.
Before you try it though, adb pull your current framework-res.apk, open it up and delete the drawable-mdpi and layout folders that are in the root directory of the app (NOT THE ONES THAT ARE IN THE /res FOLDER)
New version also contains JsChiSurfs black carrier text and white clear button!
Just updated again, the AOSP taskbar had one wrong icon with 1x dormant... it is fixed now.
Tried the rotary lock screen and vanilla lock screen and neither worked. download > applied through metamorph > reboot > delete htclockscreen.apk in system\app
Am I doing anything wrong?

Just pulled my framework-res.apk file and there isn't a drawable-mdpi or layout folder in the root, so I assume the fix I did earlier (Using the Ic3ROM framework-res.apk as illogic6 suggested) cleared this up? Am I safe to try it out?
(I am anyway as soon as I nandroid, but.... you know...)
EDIT: Nope, didn't work.
Sense crashed before it was applying the framework-res.apk, something else crashed a little later, then when it got to the framework-res.apk, the phone locked. I gave it about three minutes before I decided it was time to pull the battery. What files do I actually need to apply to get the updated notification window? mms.apk and phone.apk kind of seem useless at this point?
EDIT 2: Got it working. I just used the com.htc.resources.apk and the framework-res.apk instead of the whole update and got it going great. It still froze, but I sort of didn't care... I pulled the battery and just let it boot and it worked fine. I honestly think that it's a problem with my installation of Metamorph.....

This morph is more susceptible to failure just because if how big framework res and com.HTC.resources are. If metamorph runs out of space to use then it wont apply the theme. So ya, if it doesn't apply the theme try rebooting and reapplying... that USUALLY helps...

Pretty sure its because you've changed the system font color to white.
Also, this happens in other applications as well. And it sorta kills any app that uses white backgrounds.

I've fixed the facebook text by making the xml's look for a different line that was already white instead of editing other lines to be white. It will be in the next release along with the facebook app being themed.
Can you give me specific examples of text not being visible in other apps because I haven't edited any other apps besides Calendar.apk in a way similar to how I messed up Facebook.apk, and I haven't noticed any text errors anywhere.

CM 7 - Changing notification bar to white

I am running CM7 the latest stable release, April 11th or so. I want to have a white notification/status bar with the time, clock, battery, alarm, gps, and 3g text in black. Also I want the drop down notification menu to also be white. Basically, black/dark gray and white/light gray completely inverted of what it looks like now. There are a couple ADW themes, such as "ADW.theme.one", whose screenshots show this type of color scheme, but for some reason do not have this effect on my phone.
Yes, I know there is a kitchen for doing this, but it doesnt change the color of the text. I know that this is possible by editing framework-res.apk. I just need a little help finding this file, knowing what values to change, and then how to apply/flash it back to the phone to make the changes. Please help?

I went through this same thing a while ago. Download NinjaMorph, and that will extract your framework. Most of the files you'll play with will be in drawable-hdpi. When you extract the framework-res.apk, it'll show you all the PNG files. I'd just transfer everything to your computer, change what you want in drawable-hdpi (I know the notification icons are there, I'm not sure about the bar itself - I've never messed with it), and then put it back on the SD card. Ninja Morph will recompile the framework-res and replace the one in your system folder.

You can try to figure out how to edit the framework file, but you might be better off figuring out how to create themes for CM7.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948109
That link is a good overview of the theme engine. The fourth link on that page has a good how-to on creating themes. While it might be simpler to modify your framework file to change your notification bar now, that framework file changes with new releases of CM7. The theme engine is made so that it works across all versions.

I just need a little help finding this file, knowing what values to change, and then how to apply/flash it back to the phone to make the changes. Please help?

I just remember having it with CM 6.0 and I loved it, and then it was gone! lol
I downloaded the JamT theme, and that makes it look alright, I just recently switched to a honeycomb theme, but now I'm back to regular cyanbread

[Theme/Mod]White Transparency[Synergy]_Updated 7-31 Trans App Drawer + Godmode

So I have started to work on my draft theme lol if you can call it that (mostly just a few icons themed mostly Miui based). Being a noob to this big world of themeing, this is actually taking me some time. I'm a sucker for Transparency so I started by doing some icons to give my Lockscreen matching icons and it just kept going. This has a Transparent Notification bar with themed quick settings icons, other than that its pretty much stock minus few icons here n there. So if anyone wants to try it out, give suggestions, tips I'd appreciate it.
Just flash in recovery (as always make sure you have a nand backup and wipe caches).

My only beef is some installed apps (google music/pandora) dont play nice with the transparent background, I think it is in the apps code so I might just make the background a little more white greyish.

*Thanks to Burst for his awesome theme that got me to work on this, plus all the help answering my countless questions thrown at him.
and Thanks to dbilliter for his theme that inspired most of the look.
*Bugs: Not sure if its a bug to my themeing but If background data is turned off, going into calendar day view will crash the Launcher with a "The Application HTC Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly" and restarts itself. It doesnt restart the phone just restarts launcher.
Turning on background data and Syncing weather will fix.
Alternatively... Settings -> Applications -> Manage application -> under ALL tab, clear data for HTC weather sync provider and Weather Provider.
A special thanks to all of Synergy Mynions for all the help and wisdom they share in the Synergy Thread

Again nice theme. I just flashed it and I even changed up my homescreen icons to match it better.
I really really like the look of those icons we talked about. So good, I might do something like that for the kanye theme.

Ya im trying to find a white google music icon, My other google icons are laughing at it lol. Stupid work pc no photoshop!
If you need any help with some graphics let me know. I am no photoshop master, but I do ok. And I have some nice 3D modeling programs too.
So how do ppl feel about themed icon apps? I started swapping out icons to get my app drawer and recent apps icons switched out. I just tried my hands on google music since I count find any. I guess I should look up rules for app icons.

It is fine to change the app icon. The only problem you run into is when there is an update to an app, you have to manually change the icon again. Also, you would only be able to do this for free apps (if you were posting the apps with custom icons). For paid apps, you will have to post the icon and let tell people how to change them on their own. You could dedicate a post for showcasing icons though, with a set of instructions.
Example:
1. Right click on the appropriate icon and save the image to your computer.
:icon: :icon: :icon: :icon: :icon:
2. Transfer the .apk to your computer.
3. Open (DO NOT EXTRACT) apk with any archiving program (winzip, winRAR, 7zip, etc.)
4. Open res/drawable folder
5. Replace 'icon.png' with your icon named 'icon.png' (72x72 or 96x96)
6. Close the archive program
7. (You may need to resign the app) Auto-sign is a simple way to do this.
8. Transfer the .apk back to your phone and re-install.
That is one way, there are several. I like to do it on my computer. Also, APK Edit will easily allow you to change the icon, when the program opens, just click the icon and browse to the file you want to use to replace it. It will name it appropriately and resign the app in one step.
I really like the look of those icons, but I have a theme right now on Synergy that I really like. Could you perhaps just give me the icons, please? Thanking you anyway.

Sense Theme: "Sense and Sensibility" [v .1]

Sense and Sensibility Alpha
Alright guys, here it is! This is an ALPHA version of a theme called "Sense and Sensibility." This isn't just to look like sense. The graphics were taken directly from stock sense.
TAKE NOTE: Tested on CM7. SHOULD work on most ROMS but who knows. So BACKUP!
Instructions:
1. Boot into CWM
2. BACKUP
3. Flash SenseSensibility.zip
4. Reboot/Rejoice
Any requests for things to be themed (sense-styled of course) can be made and most likely will be implemented considering I've never owned a Sense phone and don't know what is themed where.
I'd love if someone could tell me where I could change the color of the text in the menu button popup.
Downloads:
v .1: Click me
Themed things:
Header of lists (settings, messaging, etc)
Tabs (dialer etc)
Long press homescreen popup
Power off menu popup
Battery
Checkboxes
Menu button
Selection (turns a nice green) (pictured)
Loading animation popup (spinning circle)
Text box/text box highlight
Send button (SMS)
Text selectors
LOTS MORE (If I forgot any, let me know)
Things to look forward to:
Status bar
Fix menubutton background to make text readable
Dialer!
Widgets?
Make it more Sense-like.

Yeah haha. It's in alpha stage and it's mostly minor enhancements (so far). I also themed when you press down to select something. The major things I'd like to incorporate are a sense dock and lockscreen. These are mostly UI tweaks.
****. im learning. I'm basically taking a sense ROM and porting (copy paste ) the GUI. I'm working on it and just wanted to share what I have so far.
keep at it bro you'll get it...
I see what you did there... "add sensibility to dictionary?" made me lol. But anyways nice theme I like the ginger-sense mix especially all the dark gingerbread with the light greys of sense

I would love some help. You can flash it and see for yourself, but when you hit the menu button the text of the menu popup cant be read because the menu background is too bright. Do you know I can change the font colour of the menu popup? Haha. Either that or i'll have to edit every menu icon in photoshop and add a title below it
You want to look in framework-res/res/values/colors.xml...you will see the colors for various text, whether its bright or dim text, set against bright or dark background. Remember though, unless you made the change to the textApearance values already, then the background color you would consider will be what it still thinks it is. So my guess would be, maybe dim_foreground_dark

Do I have to decompile the apk to edit the xml files? if not how do I edit them. Notepad's a no go ):

Crap. Im not much for decompiling.
Mr Hat,
I tried this theme with TWO different ROMS (Faux AOSP 1.3.1 and Weapon G2X 2.5)
The after flashing the theme in Recovery and rebooting, I got stuck in the bootloader screen-loop in both roms.
Luckily, I read your instruction and made a backup. Anything else I can try? Do you have a ROM that you recommend other that what I'm using.
First of all, Weapon is a rom based on 2.3.3...this theme is not for that rom. I suggest you do some more reading on the different android versions and the impact on choices of roms, kernels, themes, etc.

Hey man, I recommend you browse this a bit. It goes way in depth to theming.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916814
Decompiling is really easy if you use a GUI like APK Manager, and I use EditPad lite for xml files. Good luck with it; I got burnt out on theming quickly.
i like how poeple are quick to flame you and then they read your post then have to edit. keep up your work. look forward to how this develops.

Thank you for the heads up. I guess I didn't do enough homework.
Mind sharing which ROM you're using? Or maybe toss out a couple ideas? It'd be much appreciated.
Of someone can send me a thorough set of screenshots of what Sense looks like in most aspects of the ui, I will make something happen. Pm me when you have something for me, and I'll give an email to send it.

Blegh, development is probably gonna be slow/might not come. I need to focus on my academics.
