CM 7 - Changing notification bar to white - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

I am running CM7 the latest stable release, April 11th or so. I want to have a white notification/status bar with the time, clock, battery, alarm, gps, and 3g text in black. Also I want the drop down notification menu to also be white. Basically, black/dark gray and white/light gray completely inverted of what it looks like now. There are a couple ADW themes, such as "ADW.theme.one", whose screenshots show this type of color scheme, but for some reason do not have this effect on my phone.
Yes, I know there is a kitchen for doing this, but it doesnt change the color of the text. I know that this is possible by editing framework-res.apk. I just need a little help finding this file, knowing what values to change, and then how to apply/flash it back to the phone to make the changes. Please help?

Check out the JAMT theme on the android themes board. Its a white theme.

Thanks, and I appreciate the reply. But not what I asked. I really want to learn how to edit the framework file so I can do it myself.
But this will do for now. I just need to find a nicer wallpaper to go with it!

older versions of CM allowed you to adjust the settings. i have no idea why they took it out

I went through this same thing a while ago. Download NinjaMorph, and that will extract your framework. Most of the files you'll play with will be in drawable-hdpi. When you extract the framework-res.apk, it'll show you all the PNG files. I'd just transfer everything to your computer, change what you want in drawable-hdpi (I know the notification icons are there, I'm not sure about the bar itself - I've never messed with it), and then put it back on the SD card. Ninja Morph will recompile the framework-res and replace the one in your system folder.

i see theme chooser, not manager. theme chooser doesn't let you do anything other than pick an overall blue, green, or default theme, sadly

You can try to figure out how to edit the framework file, but you might be better off figuring out how to create themes for CM7.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948109
That link is a good overview of the theme engine. The fourth link on that page has a good how-to on creating themes. While it might be simpler to modify your framework file to change your notification bar now, that framework file changes with new releases of CM7. The theme engine is made so that it works across all versions.

Im curious about this too. Is there a such thing as theme manager or was that just a mistake?
I really liked the ability to alter the colors in the previous build...

[THEME] [Stock 2.1] Detox Desire for Incredible

UPDATE 2.1:
Fixes PowerWidget
UPDATE:
updated the theme to match Cubanaso's new 1.3 update.
Modified sense apps to match theme. (I applied the same changes in Cubanaso's Detox Desire v1.3 apps to the stock DInc apps)
Fixed some graphics I forgot to change in the first one. For example the notification tray is now properly themed.
Fonts taken from Detox Desire v1.3 (included in new zip) (If you don't like them from the look of the screenshots, just delete /system/fonts/ from the zip)
Does not include Services.jar from 1.3 update. (When time permits... gotta learn how.. Busy... If anyone else wants to give it a shot, go for it)
I still can't change that USB icon or the VZW backup icon.
All credit goes to Cubanaso for the images used and the original design.

Good stuff, nice to see it made its way here. Your more than welcome to use it. Keep on eye on the nexus thread iam always trying to put out new themes for sense.
Thanks Cubanoso. Yeah I'll have to check out some nexus themes. Should be relatively the same process as converting Desire to DInc I assume. My thought process is why make a new theme when there are so many incredible themes out there already?
The problem with converting themes is that its difficult to tell if everything is working considering I don't have the other phones to view the themes on
intenselyinsane: I appreciate the help, but I was able to change the icons you mentioned. The problem icon is the one that appears in the top left of your phone when you plug it into your computer. If you know where to find that one, please let me know.
how would one modify parts of the theme? namely the power control widget - one of the few blemishes I've found in this fantastic theme. thanks for sharing
Updated first post with a new version of the theme.
This is directed mainly at cubanaso, but does anyone know how services.jar works, or even what it does . I'd like to include whatever this file modification changes but I don't know how or where to start.
Parkson: The power control widget doesn't work right, I know, but I think maybe the changes cubanaso made to 1.3 fixes this.
EDIT: nevermind. You'd have to ask cubanaso. If you fix it please let me know.
any way to make the lockscreen bar white with black letters instead of black with white letters and match the white on the clock to the rest of the theme?i love this theme by the way, thxs for porting it!!!
So far loving this. Thanks for the hard work both of you guys have put in to this. My only suggestions, the white font is kinda hard to read on the gray background. Maybe change the color to a dark gray. Also the transparent notification tray, Can the bottom of the tray be a little bigger to cover up the launcher underneath?
Thanks again for your hard work guys
Edit:
Just noticed that the android Power Control widget skin shows as a white box now

Services.jar controls the text color for time on the notification bar. To edit it, you'll need to deodex services.jar and possibly everything else in /system/framework. You'll also need smali and baksmali. Quick search on xda should point you in the right direction. I'll try to find a link when I can get to my computer.

I hope this is what you are looking for, if not I apologize but I dug through the original theme posted by Cubanaso and the usb icon (attached) is in the zip file at:
\system\framework\framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\ic_dialog_usb.png
Hope this helps
If you already flashed the custom fonts and want default fonts, just remove the fonts from the fonts directory that gets pushed to system. If anyone wants to do this, let me know and I'll write a list of commands usable from within Clockwork. Cheers!
The services.jar as far as i know is particular to each rom, dont quote me on that because iam not sure. Were you ever able to use it? As far as the power widget goes, I did fix that in the latest update. That widget is directly connected to the app png file found in the htc resources ( its the small white square in the first row of images) and the settings.apk. Iam back and forth between a few themes iam working on so just check my thread from time to time or pm me and ill try and help you.
- Also cant believe you guys havent jumped on the black and red theme i have, lol...only seems logical cause you guys are rocking the incredible, lol
I really like this theme a lot; thanks to all of you!
I've searched for quite a while now.. Does anybody know where to get the wallpaper show in the screenshots in the first post to this thread? The white metal with the little dots.
Am I missing something obvious?
CaptChuck: Thanks, I appreciate it. Unfortunately that icon has already been changed, but it does not change what appears when you plug in your DInc.
MichaelGraham: I'd like to know were that wallpaper is also.
JonnyBueno: Thanks! Sounds like a lot of work.
Cubanaso: Thanks. could you be a little mor specific about where the square is? I'm having trouble finding a white square in your settings that different from within the stock DInc one. I'm not sure if i have the time to get to services.jar however. I would love to port your black and red theme, but i think jonnybueno for the most part already ported it?
Kingnerd: Did you drop the entire droidx framework in the the theme? What are the visible changes from the regular stock and detox framework apk? I don't like that it changes the top bar back to black, thinking I might have to take the tray bar from that and put it in this theme... Like it better. Thanks for posting it.

Yep, it's the entire framework... I much prefer the black taskbar, etc. from the Droid X theme and I was actually using it prior as well. I like the browser, lockscreen, and other application tweaks from Detox though, so I figured I'd combine the two.

[THEME/ROM] (V0.2) - No not my gumdrop buttons for 6.1.1! UPDATED 12-16-10

Here is Gingerbread. I will be updating this as time goes on! Credit to Cyanogen for CM6.1.1 and jblazea50 for the original port. In no way do I take credit for anything ROM wise. This ROM is totally Cyanogen besides graphic wise. I am making a new thread so I can update the OP.
NOTE: This isn't just a theme but a themed rom. This is CM6.1.1 Final with the theme in it.
NOTE: I am not responsible for any broken/bricked/jizzed on phones...
Installation instructions:
Download both files and place on root of your sdcard.
Reboot into recovery.
Full wipe RECOMMENDED (although some have done it without).
Flash themed rom.
Flash themed gapps.
Reboot.
DO NOT PLAY WITH NOTIFICATION BAR COLORS OR XML! Only change clock colors and notification colors or it will screw the notification bar up!
Changelog:
V0.2 - Updated to 6.1.1 and based of Nexus S system dump.
V0.1 - Basic gingerbread elements.

black menu for AOSP roms
I'm stlill looking for a way to get my menus black on cm 6.1 stable. I don't want a full theme b/c I want to use my own transition animations and other custom feats. I like the stock black theme that comes with cm 6.1 but want black menus! Can anyone point me in the right direction???
I have a metamorph theme that will give you want you want. However you will need to then pull the framework-res.apk because I have noticed the metamorph may cause issues with force closes. But once you have the framework-res.apk jut make it into an update.zip and when they flash it they shouldn't have any problems.
black menu cm 6.1
Really? That's awesome! Where can I find your metamorph theme? I just tried to pull the menu back ground out of cm7 framework-res and placed them in the cm6.1 framework-res.apk and zipped and installed, it kinda worked just no text in the menus!

Values is a folder that will show up once you decompile the apk. It is actually present in almost all apk's res folder.

this is a theme i have been working on lately i thought it looked kind of cool

This theme is really nice. I like the whole green thing too. Are you planning on making one for cyanogenmod-7 RC3? Just wondering.

You thinking about making this into an apk for the cm7 theme manager? Because that would be lovely! This is pretty much exactly what I wanted to do to GB since before it even came out. Way to go man, and if you need any help or testing, let me know, I'm in for sure!

To be honest I likely wont make this for the theme chooser while I respect all the people who are making themes using the theme chooser I personally can't see myself investing that much time into something with less functionality than what I have now, I like the idea that I wont have to port it when new versions come out but the minor agro I go through with that is nothing compared to the theme chooser so far /rant

those are controlled by the systemUI.apk the status_bar_expanded.xml
you will have to add in the color code you want by adding in
android textcolor="#ff33ff33" <- thats the color code for bright green you might want to find a color code that matches androidian
there are 3 lines that need to be changed (i will post the lines from the .xmls when i get to my PC)
sadly the theme chooser to my knowledge cant make those changes

Would you happen to know the color code for black or dark grey? That's prob the best for what I want. I am nearly positive the theme chooser DOES change the bg for the sprint banner and the power widget banner, but NOT the bg for notifications. If it does, I can change those in the androidian.apk, if not, the systemUI.apk will work. Once you put up the info I will give it a shot sometime this week or next (super busy at work, and my home comp it down for now) and I will let you know what worked/didn't work. If possible can you PM me the files/colors, for easier access later

are you looking for the text color of ongoing, no notifications, notifications or the color of the strip they sit on?
the strip they sit on is controlled by a png i think that can be controlled by the theme chooser, and also the sprint banner and the power widget is all the same png
color code for black is #00000000 btw a dark gray i think is #00151515

I am looking to change the background banner color, which is currently white. I guess I didn't think of it but if I change that to black, I would then need to change the text color too, lol. If you are cool with it, PM the how to on both (and a .png/dropbox link? for the bg if you have it), I will try to fing the GB green color code for text.
i think i can do that
#ffbaff00 is the color I used for the minimal green board that I run with androidian. Matches rather ok, imho.

Thank you! this looks great! Are there icons available where we can change the apps in the launcher? I might want to put some other ones along the bottom. Not going to stop me from using of course!

NEG 2.0
I'm currently working on a new theme that will be ready sometime next week if all goes well. It will have themed dialer, new icons, cleaner look and feel, optimized PNG's that will reduce memory use, new fonts and custom boot screen. If you all have any requests as far as colors, icon style, ect feel free to post it and i shall do my best to integrate those ideas into the current project.
Thanks for putting this together! Looks awesome! Quick question...I'm using Evervolv 2.3.3 but wanted to use your dock and icon set for Launcher Pro. I download the zip but it appears that the icons have black letters. When you put them on the dock, you can't see them. In your picture in orig post, you have white letter icons. Can I get those from you? or maybe point me in the direction to get them? Thanks again! When deck puts out 1.2, I plan on switching over and using this for sure!

There should be 2 sets of icons in the rar file, White & Black. I cant check it at the moment since I'm at work and cant download winrar lol. But ill take a look into it once i get home. If its missing anything i will fix ASAP!
On another note, I just compiled a theme that has a lot of fixes and a few more mods. One major fix is the icons in the taskbar! I will upload once i finish the PNG's and edit a few more things.
