Wind mobile p-999DW RIL and Baseband question - T-Mobile LG G2x

I dont mean to double post but I've been looking around the internetz.and actually using the search on here and have not found an answer.
Most the people on here have a T-Mobile G2x (p-999). And I have a Wind mobile optimus 2x (p-999DW)
Are the RIL's and basebands the same for both these devices? If I falsh an improper ril or baseband will my phone still be compatible with winds network, or will I have to flash a new ril and baseband?
Could you recommended the best ril and basebands for winds network for gingerbread and ics/jb
Sorry for my noobness its just I'm.rather new to flashing roms and I'm looking at paranoid android hackfest jelly bean build 8. And this is the first time I've seen a baseband to flash with the rom.

The RIL and Baseband must match. I've used all the T-Mobile G2X updates on my "WIND" Optimus 2X/G2X and they operate on WIND without any problems other than the problems they have anyway regardless of network. I don't use ICS or JB, just GB. Stock V21E and V21Y or their direct derivatives work well

Thanks for actually replying. This thread has had a lot of views and 1 reply. Everyone starts somewhere. Also have you used getril ? And if so what's been your experience with it ?
And BTW I'm on the fixed June 5th bb for use with PA build 8

GetRil works fine to determine if the BB and Ril match. Don't use anything for the P990 as that will seriously brick the P999.

Oh it doesn't dectect if you have p-990 or a p-999/p-999DW ?

Yes, it does. When updating/upgrading, don't use anything for the P990.

OK noted will prob just use the ril it reccomends and obvi stick the p-999 ones thanks or the help

Sounds good but unlikely unless someone steps up to try and port a ota rom. The real Jboxer and (forgive me) Lotherius both tried to do an exact port but it was very complicated with baseband and partition tables. If someone wanted to try that'd be awesome, maybe practice for when the O2X gets 4.0????!!!!

How'd it get complicated? Back in my Sammy Vibrant days, most people could do it pretty easily. Devs of course.

So like every rom I tried, it work great except for....
There is no perfect cure. Starting to understand that is the new status quo. No offence intended towards those that make our phones good to great.
This issue has been starred in CyanogenMod so maybe it will get fixed. CM7 now supports both BB so seems reasonable this fix may be on the way

Is Hellfire Sandwich v1.9 compatible with my 2012 baseband?

I bought the G2x when it first came out and had no issues flashing ROMs but I had it stolen and got a new one through the insurance company and it has the new 2012 baseband. I understand that there are issues flashing ROMs on this new baseband but most of the information on this was posted a long time ago. I want to know if Hellfire Sandwich is compatible with the new baseband or if I have to downgrade. Thanks!
Even if it isn't it can be made to be: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776843

Lets say I flash a rom that is already compatible with my baseband... will doing this additional step hurt the installation?
It won't. It copies some files and sets some permissions, it makes things the way they should be.

Bad signal. Help Please

Hi, me again. Ever since I upgraded to GB (and ICS) I've had really bad connection. Because of that I've been on froyo this whole time.
I'm in Australia, new sim card, vodaphone and have really bad signal. 80% of the time I have no signal. This problem only occurs on GB and ICS. Is there any Froyo baseband I can use on ICS or any fix for the terrible signal? Thanks
Note: I have tried many other basebands and they all give me terrible signal/no signal.

LG P920.
By the way, even the GB base bands from my country Australia give me bad reception to no signal.
Did you try v18a or v21d GB baseband?? V18a highly recommend.

I have tried both. V18a gives me very bad reception while v21d gives me OK to good signal. The only problem with v21d is that I can only get 2G.
Anyone able to help? Thanks

Yeah they did, v 20c. It wasn't very good, the reception was absolutely terrible with lots of dropouts.

I'm not too sure, I think 10k
Ah OK. Well the obvious question is, have you tried the froyo basebands? Its unlikely the same one would work (eg V21e works great for me on GB, 20a works on ICS) but worth trying.
Also weird then that everyone who officially upgraded would have their phone turned into a media player.

Most stable rom??

My dad's G2X is starting to drop calls now.. I forget what ROM i put on his phone but I think it was tsugi or something.. it was a while agoo.. anyways im gonna try to put on a new ROM and see if it solves the issue.. I need a smooth stable rom, no fancy stuff. hes an old man and doesnt care for that.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Cm or something based of cm7, it will be hard to match the stability

Any recommendation? I don't have time to try different ROMs on his phone.

Just do official cm7 then, basic but you should have no worries

Thanks, what baseband do I need as well to use with CM7? The phone is a Canadian version on wind Mobile.. I've found the baseband thread but not sure which one to use on the phone

CM7 or STOCK 2.3.4 rooted both are very stable and fast.
Yes but what baseband?

Any baseband will work. But on the march 2012 one, the bluetooth calling does not work with CM7, only stock 2.3.4!
You should throw hellfire phoenix, new version came out this week. It's probably the most stable rom I've used (based on 2.3) just change the theme up to something simple that he likes.

I've used Eaglesblood CM7/GB for the last few months or more without almost any issues at all.

I've kept the June 2011 Baseband that came with the phone from Wind and it works great with the latest roms - you just have to flash "For_old_bb.zip" after the installing the rom and gapps. Just as important - you may have to experiment with different kernels as different phones (yes - of the same model P999) respond better with others. I'm using HFP 2.4 with ELP ("ELP-G2x-06022012.zip") on my Wind LG 2x (G2x) after trying to make the rom work for a few days with the base faux kernel (didn't work out so well...). Here's my post on the install: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238804&page=24
Good luck!
Eaglesblood I would trust with no hassle.Been using it for months without any problems
