hello,
I've tried a few times to root my device but it doesn't.
i want to try this rom: [ROM][ICS][P920] First ICS 4.0.4 Full 3D ROM Ported From SU760
I also read the guide: [GUIDE] [TOOL] Rooting the "First ICS 4.0.4 Full 3D ROM Ported From SU760" but nothing work.....
I cant instal a zip from SD with rom manager because my device says your device is not rooted....
For rooting my device i used this tool: adb_restore_rooting-v1.2.zip but freezes.
It told me this:
pussing bussybox:
device not found..
i turned usb debuging on, bus nothing worked for me.
who want to help me?
ps: i am from the netherlands, sorry for the bad grammar
Thanks, Dylan
Hi
From my experience the same thing happened to me.my mistake was I did not extract the restore file I jus opened it in the zip folder.extract it to the same folder where you have your zip saved then it will pick up busy box.open rooting.bat from the extracted folder

when yo connect the cell do you hear a guiar sound and two icons apears one usb and a little bug??
because i have the same problem i just push the button to make a call,
now enter the number: 3845#*920# This will redirect you to the full hidden menu. Once there, you can go to the PORT SETTINGS menu and set it to AP USB thanks to member vicionastral
And if you want to upgrade with the LG software, you must set this to AP USB and make it stay. Then when you are upgrading, you must stay vigilant and press (and keep pressed) the volume up button in the moment it reboot the phone (or before it reboots, just to be sure)
This way, a white screen with red text "factory upload" will show and upgrades will have no problems.
(this mode normally only happens when you press the volume up button with the phone off, and then connect it to the usb port and there is an LG software commanding the phone via usb) thanks to member vicionastral
hope works for u
At first did you install lg drivers ?? Is your PC detect it ??
This happened to me . I used adb_restore-rooting v1.6 and it's work .
When you install ICS you install "lg drivers" as v1.1 right ??
I update the drivers to version v3.xx (from lg support tool) and it's works fine .

You have to connect device via usb, turn it off, hold end call + volume down and turn phone on.. The sandclock has to stay.. Then you can execute the .bat on your PC..
Good luck
Tools to root 845 and work with ADB
These worked for me:
To get root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834428
To get ADB to recognize device:
http://anti.teamidiot.de/ToggleUSB.apk
Yields:
$ adb devices
List of devices attached
N?? device

Hopefully this can help
I used Z4 root and downloaded the Pro Celestial V2 rom zip file to my sd card. I then downloaded Clockworkmod rom manager. From there i backed up all my files to sd and using the install from sd option on the rom manager, I installed the rom making sure to wipe the dalvic cache. I got all the apps for free on mobile 24 and found the rom on a fourm here. Hopefully this can be of some use.
Btw, Android runs beautifully on this rom http://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

2)downloaded odin3 from xda developers
3)switch off the phone and press the home button + vol up key simultaneously and then press power on button and release the power button and then the phone will boot in download mode.
4) start odin and select "one package" check box option
6) select the Apollo.ops file in ops file section and select the firmware file (TAR format)
7) connect ur phone to pc and click start button in odin and after 10 mins u will get ur new phone back with new clean os with all usb problems solved .
please note that flashing will destroy all the phone memory data only which included contacts, apps ,messages and all phone stuff

Hi dont worry! I to had faced this froblem and search every wate to find solution and i get it.
You need to just restore your factory setting once and the usb problem will be fixed. But it will erase ur all contacts, massages, installed apgoogle account and every things in you phone memory except sdcard, superuser app and inbuilt software.
So before restoring your phone dont forgot to taking backup ur imp contents

Hi, the Star gT-i9300 and the Tinji I9300 are the same. So you can take a look in this thread.
It seems that you have a driver problem. The message came up directly after connecting the phone ? Or ist the status bar increasing to 100% for one time befor this error appears ?
Installing the correct drivers in the correct way seems to be the main barrier, i wasn't able to get the flashtool run on 2 win7 pc's. XP worked fine from the beginning.
In the thread i mentioned above are also some driver hints, maybe that helps.

The first part is like it should be, also the stop after the first 100% ist correct. You should find a message like 'connect USB cable' or something like that in the status bar of the flash-tool.
But after 2-3 seconds it must continue automaticly. Is windows showing a message 'new hardware found' after the first 100% are finished ?
If you connect the phone the first time windows should install a driver at this time.

You took the battery out for a second before you start to flash ? You have tested it with all available USB ports ?
If you hear the 'USB sound' but nothing happens maybe your USB port ist to 'weak' (just a guess). Maybe try it with a external powered USB-hub.
Also installing a different driver is worth a try.

No, sorry. I don't know which drivers i had used. You can try to install PDAnet. This is an often found hint. PDAnet installs drivers automaticly.
Somebody also posted that he had success with this driver.
You disconnected USB cable and battery before starting to flash ?
Update : I started playing around with the flashtool on my Win7 PC where i also wasn't able to flsah anything. Reinstalled the driver and got the same error as you (first 100% ok, then stuck).
I changed the USB cable, used the original delivered with the phone. And all of a sudden it worked !
So maybe try another cable too.

Hello,
I have the HDC GALASY S3 PLUS and would like to root and keep the current version (4.1.1 - JB)
Which option did you use to root using that method?
I just downloaded the file and followed instructions, but only option 1 and 2 available
Device type:
1) Normal
2) Special (for example: Sony Tablet S, Medion Lifetab)
Thanks in advance.
Hi, i have the same phone as you but im on ICS instead of JB. anyone has a JB rom ?
Hey guys, Recently ive been wanting to root my lg optimus 3d
But ive ran into some problems.. Ive followed this guide:
[THINGS MARKED IN GREEN IVE DONE SUCCESFULLY]
OFFLINE Root for LG OPTIMUS 3D MAX
1. Download the archive and unpack it (create a folder on desktop named whatever you like):
Root kit http://www.mediafire.com/?fafrhfiu409zy99
2.Download "IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk" attached below and copy to root of your phone (internal storage).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...8&d=1345501542
3. On the phone in the "Options -> Security" enable "Unknown sources"
In the "For Developers" enable "Debug on USB"
4. Install "IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk"
5. Then open the installed "SystemBackupTest" and not closing
Hold down the power button and reboot the device. When i open the app it says 'Hello World' and thats it. So i was like okay hmm i should follow the stept and turn off the device
6. You might get BOOTLOOP ,so don't PANIC. Just wait at the LG LOGO.
After 3-4 Minutes on LG LOGO, PRESS Power Button.I didint get a bootloop. It just turns on like always.. The startup doesnt take like 3-4 minutes and the lg logo goes away (like normal) and then my phone is on (like normal) so i was like okay again this should be right i guess
7. Connect the usb now ( make sure that usb drivers are already installed ).
7. In the folder you've created «O3DM Rooting Kit» run the file «root.bat»,
wait until the script is executed and the phone will reboot.I ran the file (while the phone was connected) and it just doesnt go any futher then deamon started succesfully
8.Then on the phone, open the Google Play Store and you will find "SuperSU"
Upgrade "SuperSU", and then open the program asks updates ... Click OK, to
9.Update SU binary ...
10.Now you have a root-law. You can delete an application «SystemBackupTest» ...
So anyone. Please instruct me on what i should do.. I really want my phone rooted.. Should i have like drivers or something? (if so please provide a download link) Or what else could it be? Help me!
Use the right file find rooting optimus 3d not the 3d max

***ONLY FOR RELAYS RUNNING ICS 4.0.4***
Samsung had just released the official Jelly Bean 4.1 update for this phone on April 22 or so and this root method only works for Ice Cream Sandwich devices.
I know there's already a thread of how to root the ICS Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G which is right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34515281 but I thought that it may be hard for some people to do it without a visual tutorial. Here's my helpful tutorial video of how to root the Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G: https://plus.google.com/u/0/108388305247615258469/videos <-- You can easily find the video because it's the only video on that album.
Files Needed:
Winrar: http://www.win-rar.com/download.html?&L=0
Odin v3.07: http://www.4shared.com/zip/CGo6TP1O/Odin307.html? or for the latest and updated versions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738841
Rooted System IMG: http://www.4shared.com/rar/nhGK59WR/SGHT699_rootedtar.html?
CWM File: http://www.4shared.com/zip/wLHTlktW/cwmtar.html?
If none of the links above work, message me at [email protected] or reply to this topic and I will reupload the files.
Steps:
1) On your phone, go to Settings-->Developer Options and turn on USB Debugging.
2) Turn off your phone and put it in Download Mode/Odin mode.
3) Download the odin307, sght699_rooted.tar, and that cwm.tar files from the links given above.
4) Extract all the files with WinRAR or other file extracting programs.
5) Open Odin v3.07
6) Make sure that it says "Added!" on the bottom left box. If it doesn't say Added, unplug and plug your phone from the computer.
7) Deselect/Uncheck "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time"
8) Click on Phone and a pop up should come up.
9) Find the SGHT699_rooted folder that you extracted in Step 4 and open the file inside it.
10) Click Start. This will take a while but it should not take more than 14 minutes.
11) Once it's done, click Reset.
12) Unplug and plug your phone again. It should say "Removed!" when unplugged and "Added!" when plugged on the bottom left box.
13) Deselect/Uncheck "F. Reset Time" but this time, keep the "Auto Reboot" marked/checked.
14) Click on PDA and a popup should come up.
15) Find the cwm folder that you extracted in Step 4 and open the cwm.tar.md5 file.
16) Click Start.
Once it finishes, your phone should reboot and be rooted. To check if it is actually rooted, go on Applications and find Superuser. If it is there, then you are rooted. Enjoy!!
Very nice. You are missing information, need to add the original posts/threads for the files that you mirrored so we can get version numbers and dates associated with the downloads. Feel free to edit the wiki in my sig if you want to help!
Ok. Thanks, but there's a problem. The files I mirrored other than Odin v3.07 are gone. The original link where the original tutorial was is gone. I had the link in my bookmarks but when I click on it, the webpage is unavailable. Ive tried viewing it from other computers and devices and it still wont work. So I decided to make a new one. Thanks again! The links should be updated in a few.

USB won't connect properly; want to un-root
You're rooting video was very helpful.
However, now that the phone is rooted, when I try to connect to my computer with USB cable, I get error message to the effect that the computer can't recognize the hardware ID of the device, so can't back-up the files on the phone or the SD card. I have all the latest Samsung USB drivers, and the computer recognizes that a Samsung device is connected, but the USB connection fails anyway.
How do I un-root the phone - do I have to boot up in download mode and use ODIN? Will this wipe my data, or just go back to the unrooted ROM and keep my data intact?

Oops, sorry. Forgot the part of your reply that said you've installed all the drivers. What do you mean by it can't recognize it? Does the SGH-T699 still show up on your My Computer?
If you want to unroot, go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166242
Just follow the steps and no, it won't wipe out all your data (Well, it didn't wipe mine, but I'm sure it won't.)

When I connect the USB cable, Windows has a popup message that says:
" Hardware ID missing
Windows cannot identify the device plugged into the Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device.
For assistance, contact the hardware manufacturer"
Sometimes it tries - and fails - to install the MTP device driver.
However, when I go into Windows Device Manage, it does list SAMSUNG Android Phone | SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface, and when trying to update its drivers, it says I have the most up to date ones installed.
- What does "Hardware ID missing" mean? How do I get the phone to communicate with the computer using USB?
I thought it might have to do with Android Ice Cream Sandwich and the media device (MTP) protocol for USB, but, I had no problems getting the computer to recognize my son's (unrooted) Galaxy S 3, which also has ICS and is pretty similar to the Galaxy S Relay 4G. That's why I suspect the problem is with my rooted version.
Is there anything else I should try before un-rooting the phone?

Already tried both. USB driver is OK, the problem is with MTP. Kies only works via WiFi; does not recognize device with USB. I also tried Samsung tech support's suggestions, none of which changed the situation

Have you tried downloading the SDK Manager from "http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html"? Open the big file that you just downloaded and open up SDK Manager. Install the Google USB Driver and as well as the Android SDK Tools and Android SDK Platform-tools. Once downloaded, go back to the android-sdk-windows folder and go to the "platform-tools" folder inside and hold Shift and right click on "adb" and select "Open Command Window Here" of something like that. The command prompt will open. Type in "adb devices" and tell me what comes up. If you see your device(It should be a bunch on numbers and letters) on there, it means it is recognizable. This might not solve your problem as I do not know what "Hardware ID missing" exactly is. But I will do some research.
I did as you suggested, and was able to see my phone when I ran "adb devices" from the command prompt. And, Windows, recognizes it too, because when I click on the button to remove attached USB devices, it lists SAMSUNG_Android_SGH-T699. But, I still get the hardware ID missing message whenever I connect the USB cable. Frustrating! But, thanks for trying to help me - you seem very knowledgeable.
What you can try and do to fix the USB hardware error is go to control panel then go to "uninstall a program" and uninstall the samsung driver once you uninstalled it reconnect your phone and let it reinstal the files and i believe it should fix your problem
Samsung Noob here with a question.
Ok, I know this is gonna sound kinda noobish, but I come from HTC phones, and this is my first Samsung. Do I need to flash ClockworkMod Recovery on this, or do I flash a rom to the 4G Relay using Odin? If I use Odin, can someone give a quick overview on how?

you'll need to install a recovery as you did on HTC as ROMs usually come as recovery-flashable zips.
there's a cwm recovery available here which can flashed using Odin. If you don't like the cwm on the relay you can flash TWRP from cwm over it. TWRP comes with more options and the touchscreen-control you might be used to.
from (any) recovery you can just install update zip-files just as you used to on your HTC.
I had used the "howto root the Galaxy S Relay" thread, and then realized, I should just SU and reboot recovery. :victory:

If anybody else got this error do the following:
- uninstall all samsung drivers / software
- connect your phone to the pc
- the driver installation should 'fail', but you can access the storage
- install the samsung drivers now while phone is plugged in
After the installation the phone will be recognized and everything is fine - this worked twice for me now, so I guess it should do it.
