[Q] SIII ROM suggestions. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Pretty straightforward question. I really only care about a few things in a ROM. Can anyone recommend something?
1) BAMF has tethering set up to where it uses the built in toggle and no extra software is required. I forgot what that feature is called but I really liked it and would like to get it on my SIII.
2) Great radios. Do not have to be "latest" just the best as far as maintaining data connectivity.
3) Would be nice to be able to adjust the resolution as this 4 column thing is killing me. I'd like at least 5 columns, without a launcher..
Thanks all.

I would recommend Synergy personally, the only criteria it doesn't meet is the built in wifi but the tether app they throw in is awesome, plus the battery life is amazing!

1. All I know if that most of the ROMs will list if they support tethering, now from what I understand most of them have built in toggles. For instance ParanoidAndroid, what I'm currently running, has one that you can add to your status bar for USB tethering and wireless tethering, they're really nice looking toggles too. Most if not all AOSP ROMs have this and I think some TW ROMs do too but I'm not sure since I haven't ran any TW ROMs in a long long time.
2. As for radios..... They all work differently on different GS3's, for instance mine runs great on HE and I5 but on my fiancée's phone J1 and K1 work great. When J1 and K1 are on my phone I constantly drop service, we live in the same house so it isn't a location issue, it's just our phones being a little different even though they are the same phone with the same components. Its kinda like some people can OC to 2.1Ghz with full stability and some can't go over 1.7 .
3. Most ROMs have adjustable columns built in , and if they don't have it built in they have a flashable mod to give them different sized columns. Cleanrom 4.5 comes stock and has a flashable zip to add 5x6 columns. Cleanrom Lite Edition 4.0 comes with the 5x6 columns built it. ParanoidAndroid has it built in where you can change it from 4x4 to 3x7 or anywhere in between. You could have 7x7 in PA if you wanted.
Edit:
P.S.
don't forget to flash the radios corresponding rpm

Installed a few builds of PA and I keep getting stuck at the boot logo. It's not boot looping. Just sits at the PA logo animation like its about to post and after about 20 min I pull the battery and use Odin to get back to stock.
The only issue I can see is that maybe I'm not coming from the right version to PA?

[ROM-REQ] Ultimate Galaxy S - xda community based rom

The main point of this thread is so that devs may be able to pop in and quickly see the most-requested features to include in their roms. ROMs are beginning to come out for our working recovery, however, many of the roms seemed to be more vanilla flavored. In that light, I would like to make a few requests for a Rom and hopefully get the requests of others. I will try to keep the OP update to reflect community requests:
What we would like:
- Touchwiz 3 based as well as 1 alt such as LauncherPro with the ability to
- Sprint apks as a seperate file
- Rom Manager support
- Root
- CPU undervolt as well as overclock
- Wallpapers, Ringtones, and LWP from all other Galaxy S devices pre-installed
- Add font changer like the rest of the Galaxies
- Kernel / radio optimization for better battery life w/Cortex A8 optimization
- Add whatever lagfix the epic can apply (not that it needs it, but why are T-Mobile and AT&T get over 2000 quadrant scores and epic does not??)
APKs to include:
- fully working wifi tether
- battery saving app such as Juice Defender at devs discretion
- Solid Backup app (xda member sceptor notes that he has found the inlcuded program in the Boss rom very solid link: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786993)
- Rom Manager with fully working features
- Missing Galaxy S apks included download below ripped from i9000 Galaxy S [reposted from jimbob343]:
www mediafire com/?yy3ewxomj0z
75Mb file
and the Odex files
www mediafire com/?jigr6dsopkwnogz
10.1Mb File
Most requested apks:
- FM RADIO (progress is being worked on @ sdx
- MUSIC PLAYER
- VIDEO PLAYER
- DAILY BRIEFING WIDGETS ETC
- task manager button the recent programs list and the comm manager in the notification drop down
What would be nice:
- Puzzle Lockscreen or other Galaxy S lockscreen, no vanilla please
- Theme and non -themed options
- TV-OUT re-enabled
- It would be nice to be able to edit dock /add- remove homescreens like the rest, can't there be a workaround that it can only be done in portrait? (Assuming the landscape is the issue)
- the ability to make the task manager button in the recent programs list link to a different task manager
- rapid charge like No2Chem did for tp2
- fix_permissions script
- 270 degree rotation
- an easy theming option like the new htc desire or mytouch series
- VooDoo port
This phone needs the radio fixed andd battery life issues fixed before custom roms.

Agreed! not that I use FM but my GF does and I'm trying to get her to trade in her EvO junk so I do not have to flash two separate phones gets annoying trying to keep track of whats what for what phone lol.
I can do everything except tv out
I second this. Vanilla is great, but I want to see and use TouchWiz 3.0 to its fullest power. I was disappointed when I found out that many features were removed from the Epic. Instead I ran LauncherPro in the meantime, waiting for a full touchwiz rom.
A video player shortcut is my biggest complaint.

you can do FM radio?
Oh I forgot, I hate the zoom bar in the browser.
I'm in for this. How about over/under clocking, and wifi tether built in?
+1 on this idea!!!!
My requests like most members here would be...
1. Add touchwiz music player again
2. It would be nice to be able to edit dock /add- remove homescreens like the rest, can't there be a workaround that it can only be done in portrait? (Assuming the landscape is the issue)
3. Fully working wifi tether included
4. Add font changer like the rest of the Galaxies
5. Kernel / radio optimization for better battery life
6. Add whatever lagfix the epic can apply (not that it needs it, but why are T-Mobile and AT&T get over 2000 quadrant scores and epic does not??)
7. Add fm radio if possible
..... nothing out of the ordinary, just what a Galaxy S should be but with steroids

your one of the few then i suppose.
@ kyrumo71 - WTF is that picture?!?!
Anyway, about the battery... I use two full batteries in a day. Well, 1.5 now that I have task killer running. I don't use this phone nearly as much as I used my iphone and the battery doesn't last as long. I'll charge it when needed because I love it but [email protected] it would be great if I didn't have to.
Definitely +1 on everything said in OP's post.
Yea the only issue I have is the damn charging....takes forever...actually takes longer than forever....Sammy went a little overboard on trickle charge...so if someone can make a rapid charge like No2Chem did for tp2 that would be great!

Would there be anyway to have some of the touchwiz widgets without having the touchwiz launcher running? I actually think the friendfeed widget is pretty good. I like most of the things about touchwiz except that 4 icon home dock.
But yea more importantly than that is the touchwiz enhancments in the os like the task manager button the recent programs list and the comm manager in the notification drop down. Maybe the ability to make the task manager button in the recent programs list link to a different task manager as well.
My request- a stock rom that is rooted and has a Rom Manager compatible kernel
I kinda cobbled my together by flashing koushs CWM kernel and using the one click root that is sticked- thanks in advance!!
Some kind of fix_permissions script to make porting data easier would be nice. Also, optional 270/360 degree rotation.
Tv-Out PLEASE!!
Please, Tv-out via 3.5mm headphone jack is the #1 feature I look foward to. I miss it soo much coming from the Touch Pro 2. Nobody seems to have any answers to the Tv-out possibilities. Is it possible??
I have 270 rotation with

[Q] If I install a new kernel?

Hey guys!
I have a rooted Samsung Infuse (AT&T) and I managed to flash it to Infused v2.2.3.
In my settings it tells me my kernel version is 2.6.35.7-I997RUXKG3-CL366622.
I have a couple of questions. <-- N00b
First, if I install/flash a new kernel will all my information get deleted like a wipe?
Second, is the kernel I have the stock kernel or no?
Third, which kernel could I flash/use to improve battery life and/or work well with Infused?
I kind of shot myself in the foot when I flashed to Infused because I only made a Titanium Backup of my info and didn't know I would lose all my texts/notepad notes/ recent contacts/ etc.
If I flash back to stock and restore the Titanium Backup will all of those things be back?
Thank you for the responses in advance.

Kernels won't wipe data.
Infused has a mildly customized kernel - I think it's using LinuxBozo's Hellraiser kernel in newer versions. It's not stock.
Any Gingerbread kernel can be used with Infuse - my Daily Driver, bedwa's Infusion, etc. If you undervolt with mine you might see some SMALL improvements in battery life - the settings I use drop the CPU core power usage by 5-10% at most though, and don't drop anything else.
As to the backups:
Calls and text can be backed up by SMS Backup and Restore and Call Logs Backup and Restore by Ritesh Sahu (on the Market)
If you go back to stock, you MIGHT be able to restore the lost info and then back it up in a more portable way. Normally you only want to restore missing apps and data in TiBu, but if you go back to the EXACT ROM (in your case stock) that you backed up from, you might be able to restore system data without breaking stuff.
Entropy, thanks so much man!
That pretty much answers all of my questions perfectly.
The whole process seemed like it would go over my head at first with all the abbreviations and stuff, so this is a breath of fresh air to know that it's not as complicated as it seems and there's helpful people like you around.
Couple of more questions, while I've got your ears, if you don't mind.
I read a little bit about 99 Tweaks and more or less get the installation process.
Do YOU approve or see it as useful/working?
Also, where could I find more info on Cyanogen 7 Mod that you have on YOUR Infuse?
I'd like to see what that looks like and find out how to install it to see if I like that or Infused better.
One of the big reasons is that I'm not sure if it's my battery that's just bad, but if I used my phone moderately during the day (when it was on stock software) the battery would be down to like 30 percent or lower by like 1 or 2 P.M.
But also I'm not too fond of the fact that I can't add an email option to the dock in the Infused rom...it only gives me Phone, App, and Internet icons on the dock.

Go to the Applications, press menu, view type (or something) customizable grid. Stay in applications, press menu, press edit, move icons to/from dock. I keep it in Alphabetical when I'm not moving things from the dock though.
From XDA App on Infused v2.2.3 OCed to 1.6 GHz
Hmmm..thanks JWL but for some reason I don't have that edit option when I go into the Applications screen...
Checked all over and can't find anywhere to customize the dock..
Including a picture to show the bottom..excuse the off colors I think the screenshot app messed it up.
It depends on which Launcher you use on whether or not you can edit the Dock. From the look of it, the dock that you are using is not editable.
But you have a total of five screens that yu can put your shortcuts/widgts on. Tapping one of those small dots next to the dock brings you to another window. From there go to your apps and press and hold an icon to move it to that window.
Try Launcher Pro from the Market. It will allow you to edit the dock as well as giving you a scrollable dock that adds extra pages.
Or go in to System/manage apps. Click all at the top. Look for Launcher, they'll be at least two. Touch to open, in Launch by default "Clear Defaults" is highlighted, touch it to clear the default.
Now back out and once you're at your home screen, touch the Home Button. This should bring up at least three different launchers to choose from.
Hey, thanks Glenn!
I'm aware that I can use the other screens to put shortcuts, I was just used to the stock Froyo software that allowed me 4 dock spaces.
And what's this launcher you speak of?
I haven't seen much mention of this and not quite sure what it is/does?
I think that when I first installed Infusion it kept giving me the option between Launcher and TWLauncher until I made Launcher default...
[Edit] - Nevermind Glenn, I got it just the way you told me.
Looks like regular Launcher gives me that 3 dock Home page while the TW Launcher gives me back the 4 dock customizable one...Thank you very much for this info.
Sorry for double post, but Glenn you're a life saver!
Launcher Pro was exactly what I needed... scrollable and customizable dock is amazing and exactly what I needed.
My one last question is if I should remain with the Infused kernel or should I flash to Entropy's?
If I just flash to Entropy's and leave as is will I notice any improvement in anything?
Download sgs kernel flasher from the market..... This will easily allow you to flash different kernels back and forth.
First make a backup of your current kernel.
Download whatever kernel you want to try then go back to sgs kernel flasher and choose the kernel you downloaded.
Try a couple of different ones out and see which one works best for you.
I use bedwa's GB kernel.... Though I'm overclocked to 1.6ghz and still get great life, you can keep it at 1.2 and get even better.
I have also heard good things about Entropy's daily driver, so give that one a whirl too...
Sent from my Samsung Infuse 4G - 1.6ghz
What SSJ_Gomike said. I was using CWM-infused-v2.0.1-kernel, but just switched to Entropy's daily driver just to see which my phone likes the best. I also like to have a boot animation which the CWM didn't seem to have.
Planning on trying bedwa's GB kernel next.
You can keep these in your download folder and as SSJ_Gomike said, use sgs kernel flasher to easily switch between them.
Alright, first of all, I'd like to thank you guys for the tremendous amount of support.
I successfully installed Entropy's daily driver kernel and I must say that my phone is running ultra fast
and I really appreciate the fact that the battery charges a lot faster.
The only thing that gets me is that I didn't charge my phone overnight and it went from 100 percent to 77 by the time I woke up.
Any thoughts?

[Q] What do you want to see in a custom stock ROM?

'Sup everyone, Lime here.
I'm working on a custom stock ROM based off of the 1.55.531.1 update and was wondering what sort of things you didn't like from the stock ROM. This will be my first ROM I've worked on, and I'm making a custom stock ROM to learn my way around Android.
What I've done:
- Hidden Kidzone to the depths of the earth
- Hid the redundant Camcorder icon
- Unhid all of the default HTC applications
- Deodexed for theming purposes
- New boot animation (Nexus One's boot animation, mostly because I think it looks cool and is simple)
- Changed the default layout of the homescreens (the clock's on the default screen, like it is on most other versions of Sense)
- Added bash, nano, sysro/sysrw
What I plan on doing:
- Removing a lot of the mostly unused apps
- De-pinking the icons
- Remapping the Genius Button to search
- Changing the launcher to have 7 homescreens instead of 5
- Enabling CRT Animations
- Modifying the MyTouch Power Control's brightness control to 11/55/100 instead of 40/60/100
What else would you like to see?
EDIT:
Things I want to make happen:
- Extended Power Menu
- Extended Quick Settings
- DEATH TO T-MOBILE APPS (Debloat)
- Less useless battery icon in the notification bar
- CRT Animations
- GPU Acceleration
- Rosie mods (7 homescreens)
- Port the stock Sense lockscreen to MT4GS
- romann's Tweaks
Things that users want:
- AOSP apps
Things I can't really do:
- OC/UV Kernel (source is for 1.28.531.9 so a kernel is out of the question unless it happens to be compatible with 1.55.531.1 [will test soon])
Perhaps an extended power menu, and a built-in screenshot function ? those are some things stock is missing.
To be honest, I haven't used any stock ROM in ages. But I'm sure we could make a stock ROM look nice with some theming.
You may also want to remove themes that people don't use, there's a couple themes that come with the Stock ROM.
Also have the option of the
-aosp music player
-Aosp gallery.
-Extended power menu
-All T-Mobile bloat removed too.
A BIG THANKS TO YOU FOR ADDING ANOTHER ROM TO THE FORUM!

- Extended Power Menu acknowledged. I know it's useful, I just forgot to put it on my to do list.
- Theming is something I'll have to learn how to do; I've no clue where to start but the default theme could be changed. I'm also not much of an ARTISTE but I can pretend to be one

- We'll see about the AOSP applications, I'm rather fond of having a unified interface (all AOSP, all Sense, or all MIUI if you get what I'm saying), but I'll see if I think it's worth the time to add it in.
- Power Menu acknowledged, as I said earlier. It's very useful.
- I'm removing everything and likely putting My Account in as a flashable zip with a new icon. It's actually somewhat useful compared to trying to use their website, in my opinion. The icon is a joke though.

- I'm definitely keeping wifi calling in because I need it to use my phone over in middle-of-nowhere-college-town.
- Yeah, I definitely want to figure out how to put a number overlay on top of the battery marker similar to how CM7 does it. It's amazingly useful. That being said, I am going to add in the HTC Battery widget by default because I think it's great at what it does and doesn't look half bad.
- I'll see about trying to add in Tweaks, because I know you can get rid of the notification bar with them.
- SetCPU is not allowed to be packaged in with a ROM. You can get it here for free though.

- I will try flashing Blue's kernel and seeing if it is compatible with the 1.55.531.1 base after I have more time (i.e after finals). Unfortunately, the kernel source for 1.55.531.1 has not been released yet(?).
I've been looking into theming lately, it seems quite complex and time consuming but hopefully I can help you make some themes. Let me know when you're near done building the ROM.
Also, I guess we can worry about the kernel after we have a nice working ROM.

FYI, when it comes to "GPU acceleration", there seems to be a misunderstanding among some amateur developers. Do you really think HTC would not utilize the GPU abilities that the processor has? By default, all of the GPU acceleration allowed by the Gingerbread operating system is already ON. There is a switch available in the build.prop that only turns on GPU acceleration when in debug mode. When the operating system is run in debug mode, the default is to have GPU acceleration off, this switch will force it on. But in normal operation, GPU acceleration is always on.
ICS enables the use of the GPU for much more than Gingerbread. When we finally get ICS for this phone, it will use the built in GPU much more.
Now, as to your ROM. Why not include Bloater so the user can choose what he/she wants to remove. For instance, I like and use the Genius features, so I would not want that removed. But other things, like Netflix, Group Messaging, etc. I have no use for, so I remove those using Bloater. I'm currently using the DS_MOD_1.55.531.3 ROM and it runs very well. There are certain tweaks (like extended quick settings) I would like.

Yep - listen to what was said here. Gingerbread uses hardware acceleration for a lot of what happens on the screen already - it's always been a weighing of how many cycles it takes with or without, so Gingerbread was inefficient when it came to using the GPU for some things.
ICS has been a while in coming, and has been improved to take advantage of much more integration of the GPU and making you have to weigh less choices between using the GPU or not.
That all being said, there is an issue with either the hardware for the GPU, the TV-out function itself, or most likely the part where it down-converts the HDMI signal to analog to pass it over the RCA connection (most likely) that causes the skipping for some video when output to TV.
We were doing a study on that a bit ago, I don't want to derail your thread with it but you mentioned looking into the GPU so here's what you should be looking into about it. We can keep your thread here on topic by sending people to this thread for discussion on that one:

- Bloatware will be done, don't worry about that.
- I have no idea where to start with GPU acceleration, but I definitely want to add it in. My inexperience will hopefully turn into experience.
- I definitely want to mess with Rosie.
- Will probably be adding in romann's Tweaks.
- I'm working on CRT animations shortly (after finals). The "off" animation seems easy to pull off, but the "on" animation takes a ridiculous amount of editing.
- Well, if I can integrate Tweaks, the option will be there to toggle it on/off. I *personally* don't ever use recently used apps, but to each their own.

Functional bluetooth (including sixaxis)
Overclockable (maybe UV)
No SenseUI
Is it possible to update the Android version to 2.3.7? What would it involve?

I think, and it is just my opinion after reading several things about this issue, is that the way the TV-OUT is really just mirroring the screen, so essentially it is driving two screens and, as you say, downconverting the signal at the same time. That's just too much overhead for the GPU and thus the stuttering. Maybe if we had an MHL instead of just the TV-OUT it would be better, it wouldn't have to drive two screens at once. Given that the Sensation has essentially the same chipset, and it has MHL, I wonder if it is just that we don't have the driver/library files for the MHL in our ROM? I would guess you've probably investigated that, though. Also, has anyone tried the DLNA properties available? This device does support DLNA but I've not seen anyone utilize it for anything.
OOPS, sorry, didn't mean to derail

6Axis won't work with the Sense kernel.

What kind of custom features do you want for your Galaxy S4?

Well considering we have a good month to actually play with our phones before any real custom development begins, we could use this time to come up with ideas that would be great to have on custom ROM's specifically for the Galaxy S4. I myself believe the next two years are gonna be insane and month is nothing compared to the fun we are all about to have!
So let's hear, what do you want your GS4 to do that it can't do right now. I personally would like to see someone make use of air wave more effectively and air view.
I just want some SlimBean love.
4.2.2. Stock. That's all I want.
I want to be able to change themes on my phone with EASE!
Mass delete of the 14.7 million crapware apps that come pre-installed....
just to be able to mod the hell out of it battery, clock, wifi, themes etc.....have kick ass kernal with kick ass battery life...
Cyanogen.
a lag reduction of 290%
I'm going to be developing a slimmed down Touchwiz rom with an AOSP feel but keep the TW framework for camera and other misc features. Samsung does add quite a few software enhancements that are nice to have that AOSP will break.

This is what I can't wait for
Ongoing Wifi Notification removed and change the Phone dialer from the playskool looking white to dark theme. Other than that I am happy with TW till we get AOSP...:highfive:

Exactly what I was hoping for. There's no point in buying a phone with so many "exclusive features" and immediately flashing CM and having the exact same user experience you had on your last phone. I mean, do I love AOSP? Of course I do. But why not try to get the best of both worlds? Can't wait for it, akira!

Keep stock touchwiz with aosp speed, also in the notification switches, the ability for flashlight, and play and next media buttons, also thumbs up/down button if possible

I am generally happy with my S4. Screen is great, the features I am interested in, Navigation, Translation (sTranslate), tethering ( I am on the plan), Bluetooth, and many others working. I am waiting until my 2 week return period is over before rooting and then debloating. I am using Nova launcher and have had no problems with lag. I did find that the home button with the smaller lower bezel than my SIII sometimes causes me to hit one of the dock icons; will require getting used to. Here is what I don't like and would like to see change:
1.The phone dialer. the white is awful
2. Contacts. Also in white, awful
3. Battery icon. Would love to be able to change it.
4. I personally like the 4.1 lockscreen with weather and time. I installed dashclock and used that a one of my Lockscreen widgets but still am not happy. I would love to see the opportunity to change the lockscreen style and type.
I am sure that I will find others, but that is it for now.
All Samsung features with the look & customization of AOKP, PA, Rootbox or Xylon.
idea of the year right here
and i can't believe it wasn't implemented by samsung and shown off at all the demos..
almost every website on the net today incorporates hovering the mouse to expand menus, show list options, features, toggle content, etc
this i would argue is THE biggest shortcoming of not just android, but all mobility today. there's no solid solution to imitate this on a mobile phone.
the galaxy s4 is the first phone which can overcome this shortcoming with its ability to support scree hovering. but what did Samsung choose to implement instead? a zoom in option baked into their stock browser .. which they removed flash support for, crippling one of the biggest breakthroughs in mobile innovation we've seen yet.
any developer who implements this will make front page of xda for sure

Extended desktop mode, the status bar takes up to much screen real estate. Pie controls love them on my nexus 4!
Id love to be able to re-map the double-click of the home button. More options to edit toggles. No need to have that many toggles Im never going to use. Dark themes throughout UI. More apps that can be utilized in Multi window. Using the calculator with the browser or banking apps for example. Swipe the status bar for brightness control, no need to have the slider taking up space in the notification drawer. Swipe between tabs on phone app, same in any other tabbed touchwiz apps. Let me use Wallet dammit!
Love the idea of AOSP/touchwiz mashup. There actually are some features Id like to keep. Too bad Samsung's design team is still stuck on Gingerbread aesthetics...
Remote
A cool feature would be a timed t.v. remote to go off say at 6:30 to wake me up for school
Some PA love would be ideal! DPI changes are necessary with this awesome screen! Plus PIE and Halo would be awesome to have! Oh and remapping of hw buttons is a must for me.

TKrom b4.0, NFL mobile, gps, newb rambling

So I am getting deeper into this foray of endless customization and loving it! I don't have many posts around here, but I have been on the boards reading and soaking up info for a year or so. I actually just flashed my first rom a couple months ago. So far I have tried Jelly 'Beans" and MOAR, both with some bugs that were probably my own doing (always clean flashed though). I've been using TWRP from the get go. Finally settled on CleanROM, which worked great for awhile (with PCB circuitry theme) but battery life started to deteriorate (have ktoonsez KT747 kernel but didn't mess around too much with those settings since I'm new to this).
Anyways, I'm trying RErick's TKrom b4.0, and I'm loving the battery life on that! Also want to mess around with Apex launcher some more as well. On to my question.... It's football season, and fantasy football is a big thing in my life right now, and I can't get the NFL mobile app to work correctly (everything works but the fantasy menus, even when just pulling that page up on the mobile browser). I've read a lot about this issue being caused by ad blockers, so I've tried renaming the host file in /etc/, to no avail. Clicking on the menus within the app or browser page does nothing. Any tips?
On some side notes, which probably belong in separate threads, I also get pretty spotty GPS performance all around, have tried calibration apps and tightening up the hardware, any tips from those who have gone through GPS issues before?
Also, I really like some of the icon packs and SeriouslyCrazy themes I've been checking out...with Apex launcher, is it possible to use those icons and themes on most TW roms?
Thank you for your attention gentlemen!
search xda for adaway, you can enable and disable ad blocking easy.
As for gps download gps status, hit menu, tools, manage gps state and download gps. then make sure gps is turned on go outside and wait a few minutes, you will see it show connected x/18(x is how many connected and 18 is example of how many available, both change but after about 3 or 4 connected your position should be close enough.
As for apex it will run is tw roms no problem so themes for it will work but themes for specific roms might not change apex theme, it just depends on what is changed and how in theme.
Good Luck

I appreciate the help bro! I installed ad away from one of the threads here, seems like a good app and I was able to revert the host file, although still no joy on the nfl app. Everything else seems to work great on TKrom, although I haven't restored many apps while I wait to find a fix for NFL.
I do use GPS Status, and have good locks, so I think there might be some other issues at hand...going to try removing maps with titanium backup and reinstalling.
Good info about apex too...I have another question, to be more specific than my last one... Does apex have an option to change the icons for apps individually?
Did you make sure that location was checked in google settings, if not maps won't show. (There should be a separate app, not from within maps.
As for NFL app, I'll have to check it out and see if I can find out anything to help.
Apex is like Nova I believe and you can change the icon on desktop by holding and selecting edit then tap icon. As for the app drawer I don't remember how but they can be changed ( I flash a oOBlacknesSOo theme and it changes them ) but as for separately you'll want to ask a themer they are the visual dev's imo.
Hope you get it setup the way you want. I'll look into the NFL app and let you know.
update: NFL app runs good but fantasy section wouldn't do squat. I'll see if I can find a way around it.

hey out of curiosity, what app are you talking about with gps status? ie specifically by which developer?
I see there are a few GPS Status apps in the store, but the one I use (and I'm pretty sure it's what bbolton is referring to) is by MobiWIA, since it has the same options described in that post.
I ended up switching to Jelly Beans 19, and NFL app works great, with fantasy menus as well (although I did still have to use ad away to disable blocking once).
I spent some time fooling with Apex launcher in JB, and saw that you can edit the icons and pick from app packs, and there is some drawer customization available as well. Going to keep testing themes, and would love to find one with a scrolling app drawer on the side of the screen.
JB 19 is working good for me now, especially for learning and testing, but if you do happen to come across anything with the NFL app I'd like to give TKrom another go. Thanks for all of the help!
BTW, I'm in Pensacola also
