[Q] How do you view notes on PC that were taken on the tablet - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As someone who can't try out the Note 10.1, how is this accomplished? I'd be taking handwritten notes in class and then I'd want to view them on my laptop with the least possible hassle.

You can export SNote files to JPG or PDF and view them on a computer

Just bought it, gotta say my jimmies have been unrustled.

For rich notes, such as web page clippings. Try Evernote

Better than viewing it , export it as pdf , download airdroid , use airdroid to send or receive your files to any device .
Airdroid is like vnc make sure you're on the same connection or hotspot.
I know this is not enough info but that what i could remember .

I use lecture notes and have to export to pdf as well.

Thank you everyone, I bought Lecturenotes (LOVE it) and I'll be exporting via PDF. Many thanks!

[Q] ezpdf bookmarks

I'm using ezpdf to read and annotate my pdf files. I've noticed that all the annotations I make are saved and when I open the pdf files on my pc I can see them. This is however not the case for the bookmarks. Is there a way of exporting the bookmarks so that other programs recognize them?
Question
Sorry, I do not have an answer for you, but have a question. Are you able to change the thickness of the pen?
I can only check thickness of the brush but those annotations are not shown in pdf when I open the files on my pc after I have saved.

Yes I do...if you for example draw a line with the pen, the tap on the line and go to properties...there's an option that says "Thickness"...let me know if it works.

Sync S Note with Dropbox?

Hi everyone,
I'm interested in exporting my notes from S Note to my Dropbox. However, when I go to Sync my notes, the only options are Google Drive and Evernote. Is there a way to export your notes to Dropbox?
On the other end, I've read a lot of posts about importing PDFs and other documents into S Note for editing. However, I have the same problem where if I click a PDF in Dropbox, the only options to open it are Polaris and Amazon Kindle. Is there a way to open these in S Note?
Thanks!
Matt
Yes. Get Drop Sync from the market. The free version will allow you to sync 1 folder, in this case Snotes. The paid version allows unlimited syncing.
As far as opening .PDF file in Snotes you have to import them into Snotes in the opening screen. You cannot import a .PDF into an open Snote.

Awesome, that's just what I was looking for! I also found that I could use Share via > Dropbox to export my notes as PDFs, but an app that syncs would be much easier.
Thanks!

Related question: am I right in thinking that if you do sync your S note folder to Dropbox you would not be able to edit your notes on your pc/mac (even the one that contains only typed txt) because they are saved in a special format? So basically this is just backing up really...

Correct. For some odd reason Samsung chose .snb format which is quite obscure for their Snotes app. Not only that but it seems to be a special version of .snb that even .snb readers like Calibre cannot read.
You can however save them as .PDF files and read them that way.

Careful though. The sync which comes with Snotes doesn't work properly. It doesn't give priority to your local device. If you delete a file locally it will just replace it when you sync. Can be quite annoying as you can't delete anything. Drop Sync does this properly.

Im also asking the same question.
Or can we edit it on evernote? Or at least view the note?

Neither with Google nor with evernote
Use dropsync to sync notes under /sdcard/snotes
To edit the notes on different android device install snotes.apk
This file could be obtained in this forum somewhere

I want to try the Bluestacks or AMD app zone player on Win 7 with S note apk and Evernote installed. Sync via Evernote and to try to see / edit with S note.
I will have a chance to try it next week the earliest.

Hey, I found I can read the snb file with emacs, it is a Zip-Archive Narrow and contains all xml, png and jpg files needed. Now the question is what to change in order to tailor a new meeting.snb template for example????
S note on windows 8?

[Q] Handwritten Note app w/ PC Viewer

It would be the killer app for me if it exists... that is the app that has all three components here:
1) Handwritten notes w/ notebooks and/or page tagging
2) Support for S-Pen and ability to use an S-Pen only input mode.
3) Sync to PC (or use dropbox/Evernote to sync) and be able to view notes on the PC. I want to not have to export my notes but just keep notebooks in sync so that when I'm done writing on the tablet the notes on the PC are updated and get updated everytime I make changes instead of having to export to PDF or another format.
I'm not sure if any of you have used Livescribe paper/pens/software but if they could reproduce that kind of functionality with OTA syncing that would be incredible! Still occasionally use my Livescribe pen but would rather than be fully using my Note 10.1 for everything.
Anyone know of something that does it all? I've used Quill, LectureNotes, S-Notes and others but still haven't found something that can do all three. Any ideas or suggestions?

So you can make edits in Quill, they are automatically updated to Evernote and you can view those files on your PC?
I see an export option in Quill but not a sync option but maybe I'm missing something.
When you find the trifecta, please let me know. My current system is using LectureNotes and syncing to Dropbox. I am also manually exporting to pdf and saving in OneNote to keep it up to date in case MS blows everything away with a fully functional android app.

So I've been using LectureNotes which works in the following instance.
1) Install a sync program, I use Dropsync, to sync local folders on a schedule or automatically with Dropbox and setup a folder for sync with Dropbox.
2) Setup LectureNotes to use this folder (or just setup Dropsync to point to the LectureNotes folder)
3) Notebooks create folders in that folder. Each page for the notebook is a PNG file. If you use single layer notes then you can obviously view this file elsewhere. Notes with more than one layer use multiple files so obviously that can complicate things.
I like to use lecture notes to take a "scanned" image of a handout and put it on one layer and then write text on top on another layer so this doesn't work for that but it does work for simple notes. I can't view the PNG files on the tablet for some reason but have no problem opening them on my PC.

[Q] Synching S Notes

Hi,
I use my Tab to take notes and do design sketches quite a lot.
I've been using Evernote on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Nexus Prime and on my Laptop all this time very successfully. Evernote has all the features I need and I have found it to be very useful so far.
However, recently, I got myself a Note 10.1 and I love using the S Pen to write down notes and do drawings/sketches etc. And I use S Note as well for this.
I need to be able to access my notes, etc from any of my devices and be able to edit/save them as necessary (which I can do easily with Evernote). Unfortunately, Evernote does not support the S Pen and all the advantages it brings with it (S Pen).
So, is there any way of achieving the same level versatility that Evernote offers with S Note as well? Or, is there some other app that I could use to take down notes using the S Pen and then be able to use it from anywhere?
I suppose one solution would be to use a Word Doc and share it over Dropbox. However, for me, that doesn;t offer the same note taking experience as Evernote or S Note.
Highly appreciate any feedback on this.
Regards,
i take notes with s note or lecture note and then export them to evernote..I dont think there is a better app for organize notes, then evernote

foldersync
I have a server that I can ssh/sftp files to and I use foldersync lite to backup my SNotes directory automatically. I also save critical notes as pdf files and also back them up to the same server and then pull the notes to my pc and other devise.

Evernote resolution

Hi folks, I've taken a few handwritten notes, several pages long each, using the stylus on my note Pro. When these files are uploaded to Evernote and I try to view them on my desktop computer, the resolution appears very low and they are unreadable. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Yep it sucks.
What I've done is just given up on Evernote for now and I'm using Papyrus along with enabling the premium features in Papyrus which allow full use of tools, PDF export and cloud sync. With the PDF export function I'm able to push notes to Evernote for syncing. The cloud sync to Dropbox also works great with the only downfall being the extremely long sync durations of 12 hours which means you have to go into settings and manually force sync if you need something right away.
Other than that the Papyrus note application is great.
Hi, and thanks for the idea, I'll look into Papyrus premium.
What a pain though...
Is there a way to export high rez versions of the notes I have taken already with the Samsung note app?
I've been using Note Anytime and sending the files through email. I'm disappointed with Evernote..
You could use lecture notes with pdf exports.

Hi, I used to have the same problem, but I found a workable solution since I really do like the S Note / Evernote combo: When you have finished with your note, save it, give it a usable name, and then use the S Note built in Share option, and simply share it to Evernote using pictures (haven't tried the PDF option, or any other, yet). You'll get beautiful high res images in Evernote! And you can do that with all your existing Notes as well!
Hope this helps, good luck!
You can do the same with LectureNotes, there is also an option for directly exporting into Evernote but I haven't tried it.

Instead of using S-Note (which really is unusable when opened in Evernote on a Mac), think about using the new handwritten note function of Evernote for Android. It does not have the same functionality but the handwritten notes are stored in high resolution. You get perfectly readable large notes in Evernote on a Mac.
Why share to ever note from s note? Ever note sync is built in.
You may need to share S-view files because if you simply sync them to Evernote then the files are unreadable on a computer, due to low resolution.
I tried sharing from S-view, selecting PDF and clicking Evernote, and presto it worked like a charm, synced automatically and very readable.
I also tried the sharing an image file via email and the resolution appeared to be a bit better but the file size was significantly larger, plus you need to merge the .png files into a pdf, adding another step. I would only use this when resolution is of utmost importance.
Thanks for the assistance of the above posters, I hope this helps others to figure out what is best for their needs.

You could get the s Note pc application. Then view the files natively, Snote Sync stores 2 files in ever note. one for the galaxy to read and the other that sucks
