Sync S-Notes to Google Drive Issue

I have been testing the sync feature to google docs/drive of all my notes. What I noticed is after I sync the first time I try adding another word to note and sync again, it deletes what I just wrote. Please advise if you guys are experiencing this issue or advise if Im doing it wrong.
Here is what I do:
1. Create note and write something
2. Save note
3. Go back to S-Note screen where all notes are and select Sync
4. Choose the new note and click sync
So far so good. I see it in Google drive.
5. Open note back up and write a word or something
6. Repeated steps 3-4
This time, my new change has been deleted and now shows what I initially committed. ??

Hey guys, quick update. Guess Sync only works one way on S-Note which is why I had issue.
I ended up creating a dropbox account and download app called dropsync. Dropsync allows me to do 2 way sync and does so automatically. Now when I add notes, create new ones, or delete one, dropsync will ensure to sync with drop box.
Pretty legit I must say.

I use an app called Folder SYnc and it will do two way sync. Use with several Cloud accounts. There is a free version and it is a great app.

What file format are you saving them in? Just curius if you are using thr .snb format and if you are able to view those files on a pc.

Same question here, I am asking me if it is possible to edit .snb file on Google Doc or with a Windows app. Otherwise, the sync is only a backup solution, but no more...

Im syncing them as .snb so you can just consider it a backup. At the moment, I dont think there is a PC application that will allow you to modify the files. Im hoping Samsung will make their kies software have access to open .snb files from PC.

I sync SNote using GDrive between Note N7000 and Note 10.1 without any issues.

I tried the same and it works
However I noticed one issue,
If I edit a note that has been createdin the other device the whole thing goes wrong
the page and everything is still there but I loose the part of the note created in the original device.
so it looks like viewing is fine but you can not edit the same note across different devices

This is the BEST solution. Works very well. The syncing which comes with S-Notes should be avoided at all costs. Evernote and Google Docs are very incomplete and difficult to use. Dropbox rules.

A similar solution for your PC.
The only problem in using Dropbox with your PC is that the files you want synced must be in your Dropbox folder.
Well, actually no. You can create "symbolic links" from any folder on your PC to your Dropbox Folder so that Dropbox will sync them. This can be VERY convenient if you have large document or database files you wish to keep synced but don't wish the originals to live in your Dropbox Folder.
This is VERY easy to achieve with something called "Link Shell Extension" found here:

Just follow the directions. It talks about doing "hard links" but I have found doing "symbolic links" works just fine. Once installed, you simply right click the folder you wish to link to drop box and select it as your link folder. Then you right click your Dropbox Folder and select that as the destination. Then if you open your Dropbox Folder it will appear that the folder you have just linked is there, but it's not, it is in its original location but now Dropbox will sync it.
Cool, right?
P.S., make sure you get your free 50 GB of space from Dropbox first

Do not be so critical, for a simple backup, it is far easier to use the sync included in S-Notes than the Dropbox solution...
IF we could use the .snb with a software on a PC, perhaps it could be interesting to use Dropbox, but really, without any possibility to edit, don't complicate your life, use simply the backup solution included in S-Notes :angel:

With all due respect you are wrong.
The built in syncing does not properly account for upstream and downstream updating.
For instance, if you use the built in sync feature you can literally never delete any notes locally as the sync action will simply restore the ones you have deleted. Try deleting a note that has been previosly synced using the stock feature then run a sync again. I reappears.
Drop Sync works properly. If you have deleted a file locally it will not replace that file when you do your sync and the deleted file will be removed from your Dropbox account as well.
As such your Dropbox becomes a mirror image of your device. This is how syncing as opposed to just backing up is supposed to work. You can also control this behavior even further in options if you like. In addition you can command Drop Sync to sync automatically in the background at regular intervals.

No Solution: Syncing / Editing and then Syncing S-Note to Google Drive?

Background: My company is a Google Apps for Business enterprise user and I need handrwritten to text notes for a lot of meetings. The ideal solution is using Google Keep, or S-Notes with S-Pen and then sync to Google Drive.
Situation: 1) When I use Google Keep everything works fine until I open the document in the Drive and it is a Polaris, or Kings Office file format, not Google Docs - and not editable; 2) When I use S-Note, everything works until I open, edit and try to re-save the file within Google Drive. I get an error message: "failed to save document" and then I get "Saved /data/data/com.google.android.apps.docs/cache2/......"
The Solution: I can write directly into a Googls Doc using the S-Pen but prefer using Google Keep, or S-Notes.
From reading this thread it appears no one is successfully using Google Keep with S-Pen, or S-Note to save / sync documents to Google Drive; edit those documents; and then re-save, or re-sync to Google Drive?

Where is the "local folder" for snote?

to sync s-note
I have tried and tried many apps and methods to sync s-note across devices. ONLY THING i have found to work.
I use a app called DS Cloud for my Synology server.
I Created a folder on the server called snote
I created a folder in my snote directory on my note 10.1 and note 2 phone.
Reason for this is IS if you sync from the default location you will sync templets There are different template Version of S- NOTE ON Each device.
So once i did the above i Told ds cloud on the desk station to share that folder .
on each device i have to sync the folder i called my notes inside the s- note folder. That way is does NOT Sync the templets and app information.
To get them to google drive. From my Disk station i sync the snote foilder with my google drive account.. This is just for a Just incase my home internet is down.
The issue your having with notes being over written between devices i think is because different s note versions..
Hope this help anyone. its only way i can get it to work properly for me.

Anyone having trouble syncing with Evernote?

Just attempted to sync my S-Notes with Evernote. It says they have synced correctly.
However, when I open the Evernote app nothing is showing up and there is a message at the bottom left stating that syncing has failed. I tried adding a folder directly to Evernote from within the app and it crashed.
Any ideas?

Hmmm, ok well the syncing is showing up on my laptop version of Evernote but not my tablet version. odd.
Also, apparently it is syncing them as .snb files which Evernote apparently cannot display. What am doing wrong here? Why is it exporting my S-Notes to Evernote in an unreadable format?

I would consider dropping OneNote and moving to Evernote if you could get me the anser to that. I tried the same thing, but it does me no good to have my notes synced to Evernote if I cannot open them on my PC and see them on my evernote app on the tablet.

From what I have been reading online S-Notes created using the Note appear perfectly within Evernote. I am assuming those notes have the same file format and extension. Weird wonder what the issue is.
I can't seem to find a thing online discussing the SGN10 and Evernote.
** Same thing with Google Docs. It doesn't recognize the file extension and can't display the content.
I am trying to figure out why Samsung wants us to sync our notes to two services which cannot read the format?????

No one else is having Evernote issues? As far as I can tell Evernote doesn't recognize the snb file extension and won't display s notes content. This is very odd since s note recommends syncing with something that has no idea what it is.
I've seen videos of people syncing their Note with Evernote and it works fine.

I'm having the same issue. Just testing out the Galaxy Note 10.1 to see how it fits into my workflow and wondering if I can happily replace the keyboard/shell design of my Transformer. Part of that is notes sync which I was trilled to see but I cannot open them in Evernote. Anyone know how to open one of these snb files in Evernote?

Unfortunately not possible. You can store them in Evernote and use that to sync with other devices which support .snb but you cannot view them. Have no idea why Samsung chose the very obscure .snb standard for Snotes. This makes Dropbox a better solution because youc an sync using DropSync for the Market.
My guess is that Samsung is forching us to own other Samsung devices which can read their very specialized .snb files.

Bummer. Are there any S-pen enabled note applications that can sync to Evernote (or via Dropsync) and open on the PC? I know I can always export them, but would prefer a solution that can regularly update notes as I write them for easy reference rather than exporting each time I make changes/additions.

I would also like that solution.

Sync: Had that for a day, too, on both the Talley and phone, looks like something was broken somewhere. Works again now.
snb: these are basically zip files with JPEG pictures for each page and some additional info in xml files. Rename to .zip and open as usual. Of course, this doesn't give you notebooks, but the info is there, and you could even make pdfs of them.

Lol. True. Wasn't thought as a work solution, but a disaster recovery, e.g. in case of a lost phone/tablet. You can then still get at your notes, until you have snote available again, without having to export each note after each change...

as disaster backup i recommend Samsung Kies Smemo and Snote backup. Works perfectly and is fully restorable if you need it.
I do this once a week.

I guess that's the same case for Asus and their supernote. It's also in snb format and I tried copying the file into my Note10.1. It apparently is encrypted or something. Requires a password
the whole GALAXY to NOTE about...counting down from 10 to 1.

I have been getting the 'sync failed' message since at least yesterday (hadn't paid attention to it before then). Was there a fix for that, or did it work itself out?

1) Handwritten notes w/ notebooks and/or page tagging
2) Support for S-Pen and ability to use an S-Pen only input mode.
3) Sync to PC (or use dropbox/Evernote to sync) and be able to view notes on the PC. I want to not have to export my notes but just keep notebooks in sync so that when I'm done writing on the tablet the notes on the PC are updated and get updated everytime I make changes instead of having to export to PDF or another format.
I'm not sure if any of you have used Livescribe paper/pens/software but if they could reproduce that kind of functionality with OTA syncing that would be incredible! Still occasionally use my Livescribe pen but would rather than be fully using my Note 10.1 for everything.
Anyone know of something that does it all? I've used Quill, LectureNotes, S-Notes and others but still haven't found something that can do all three. Any ideas or suggestions?

So you can make edits in Quill, they are automatically updated to Evernote and you can view those files on your PC?
I see an export option in Quill but not a sync option but maybe I'm missing something.

When you find the trifecta, please let me know. My current system is using LectureNotes and syncing to Dropbox. I am also manually exporting to pdf and saving in OneNote to keep it up to date in case MS blows everything away with a fully functional android app.

So I've been using LectureNotes which works in the following instance.
1) Install a sync program, I use Dropsync, to sync local folders on a schedule or automatically with Dropbox and setup a folder for sync with Dropbox.
2) Setup LectureNotes to use this folder (or just setup Dropsync to point to the LectureNotes folder)
3) Notebooks create folders in that folder. Each page for the notebook is a PNG file. If you use single layer notes then you can obviously view this file elsewhere. Notes with more than one layer use multiple files so obviously that can complicate things.
I like to use lecture notes to take a "scanned" image of a handout and put it on one layer and then write text on top on another layer so this doesn't work for that but it does work for simple notes. I can't view the PNG files on the tablet for some reason but have no problem opening them on my PC.

[Q] Synching S Notes

Hi,
I use my Tab to take notes and do design sketches quite a lot.
I've been using Evernote on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Nexus Prime and on my Laptop all this time very successfully. Evernote has all the features I need and I have found it to be very useful so far.
However, recently, I got myself a Note 10.1 and I love using the S Pen to write down notes and do drawings/sketches etc. And I use S Note as well for this.
I need to be able to access my notes, etc from any of my devices and be able to edit/save them as necessary (which I can do easily with Evernote). Unfortunately, Evernote does not support the S Pen and all the advantages it brings with it (S Pen).
So, is there any way of achieving the same level versatility that Evernote offers with S Note as well? Or, is there some other app that I could use to take down notes using the S Pen and then be able to use it from anywhere?
I suppose one solution would be to use a Word Doc and share it over Dropbox. However, for me, that doesn;t offer the same note taking experience as Evernote or S Note.
Highly appreciate any feedback on this.

I have a server that I can ssh/sftp files to and I use foldersync lite to backup my SNotes directory automatically. I also save critical notes as pdf files and also back them up to the same server and then pull the notes to my pc and other devise.

I thought using S note for note taking on pdf's would be great but it turns out that the program, in general, is note suited for how much studying I actually want to do.
First off, after importing pdf's, the SNB note file is extremely large compared to the original pdf size. For whatever reason, this just does not seem to be necessary. They should make a program that just reads pdf's directly and allows me to take notes on it, add pages, etc...
For example, I have a 14mb pdf file that turned into a 655mb SNB file. THis is absurd. S note is apparently only for small pdf's or taking lecture notes. I actually want to take notes on large pdf files.
Actually it seems like all the other problems I'm having with this software is related to this particular issue. Sometimes it will try to import a pdf, but at some point during loading (very slowly I might add) it will do one of 2 things: 1) freeze up 2) finish and start loading the snb note, but there is no snb note to be loaded so all that importing was for nothing
Is there a program better suited for taking notes on pdfs that has similar functionality as s note but is more robust?

Give LectureNotes a try. It takes a while to get used to it after switching from snote, but it's worth it. It has an amazing amount of functions and works great with pdfs. It also supports layers, so you can keep the original pdf intact and write&erase freely without disturbing the bottom layer.

For taking simple notes on pdfs there is Acrobat Reader. For more special things I recommend EZPDFReader.

I use both lecture notes and payrus
Payrus when I need different types off page type since I can have the same in lecture notes.
Both have great point and both missing one thing the other covers.
Best way to see which is best to you is try
LectureNotes give you a demo while payrus is free but you need to pay for extra features.

Does any note apps (other than Snote, thats what I use now) allow you to import PDF's? I didn't see that feature in Lecture Notes. I'm an Econ major and we have PDF's provided by the professor. I've been importing them to Snote. I don't care how big the files are. If anyone has ever done things in photoshop, you do a tiny edit on a 5mb image and then it becomes a 100mb image. I understand what it takes to edit a document and the Snote content is creates is separate of the PDF (meaning you can delete and edit infinity). Though having 64GB of space is necessary though.

Yes it allows you to import PDFs and then export them after editing. I think you need the pdf add on program (free) before it will handle them though. Ive just done a full year at uni using my note as my note taker and pdf editor with lecture notes and its never failed me. I import my PDFs before or at the start of the lecture, edit them during then export and upload to dropbox at the end.

Just as someone said above you have to install a pdf reader from the same developer as LectureNotes (acadoid) before it'll work and it's free. Then you open the pdf file just like you will with any pdf reader and select LectureNotes. Make sure that you aren't in any notebook while doing this though since it's sometimes just inserts the first page then (at least for me).
If you like to insert a blank page between you just press the hand icon and insert page before/after current page. And by the way, you might want to make sure that you import the PDF on a different layer than the one you use for notes since erasing will erase the pdf as well if it's in the same layer.

Yes and that's what I like as well, however usually when I'm trying to import a multiple page PDF and have a notebook open it only import the first page ad an image using the procedure you're choosing. I don't get the option "select what pages you like to import" etcetera.

I just double-checked, when I view a PDF file using LectureNotes or share a PDF to LectureNotes and I have a notebook open, LectureNotes brings me back to this open notebook and I get asked which page I wish to import, as it should be; if the PDF file contains only one page, there is no such question, as it would be redundant, and the first (and only) page is directly imported.

Yes that's the "problem", it asks what page and not what pages to import. And if you like me have lectureslides of usually like 5 or 10 pages, I can't se why I would like to import them individually. On the other hand, sometimes I like to import a page of a book so selecting what pages (including just one, like when you export the pdf without any book open) would be better to me.
So as usual, it's not as much a bug as it is a matter of personal taste

@Axel_: Maybe you know that, but if you want to import multiple pages at once, close the notebook first and then view/share the PDF file. In this case, LectureNotes will ask you want to do with the PDF file: import PDF single page, import PDF as new pages into an existing notebook, or import PDF as new notebook; choose the second option and select the notebook. Alternatively, open the notebook in notebook overview and import the PDF file there.
The point is that when importing a single page, LectureNotes allows you to manually scale, rotate, and place it, which is done in the notebook content view, whereas multiple pages are automatically placed using the margins in the app's import settings, which is done in notebook overview. This is why you are asked about the page when importing a PDF file in notebook content view, whereas you are asked about the pages when importing a PDF file in notebook overview.

I know, and that's why I told the guy in this thread to close the notebook first
I still can't se why one couldn't get that feature iff one selected import one page only. But the reason I don't get the feature as it is now might be because I use the "press pen button and lasso" feature on the note if there's a part of a page I like to import.
