Google Nexus Sphereness posts - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I've been looking at the Nexus 4.2 SPhere camera for some clients and discovered some interesting items.
Google 4.2 Gallary Flashable Zip – When Sphere is just a pano
http://gennexmobility.wordpress.com/2012/11/19/when-sphere-is-just-a-pano/
We’ve done a bunch of posts on the Google Sphere Camera.
For those who are interested in adding this to their NON-Nexus phone beware!
The “flash-able zip” that is being discussed does not give you full capability.
In the first video, I show the Sphere-ness of the real 4.2 gallary you get when you do the full custom ROM. You can absolutely see the difference. In the second video, you see them demonstrate the flashable zip functionality. Look when he views the photo, how it’s just a very wide panorama.
How To Share Spheres with Anybody (with a Chrome Browser)
http://gennexmobility.wordpress.com...e-spheres-with-anybody-with-a-chrome-browser/
Google recently came out with a cool new camera on their Jelly Bean 4.2 devices. This camera is also available in some custom ROMs that are available for various other devices. I have it working on my Verizon Galaxy S III.
The problem with this cool camera is sharing your cool Spheres with people.
Hope they are helpful! Enjoy!

Not sure which flashable zip your using, but the one i used has both the camera and new gallery that is required to view the spheres... works just fine

[Q] AOSP Camera for Droid Charge

Just a quick question, not sure if this is the correct place to post this. I noticed that all the ROM's with the exception of 1 all have the TW Camera app as the default camera program. I then saw that the new Eclipse ROM came out and it has the AOSP camera.
Is there a way to extract the AOSP camera app and install that into a different ROM? Not sure how the whole framework thing works. etc... thanks!
First, why would anyone want to use the AOSP Camera app? Not saying it doesn't get the job done, but compared to the stock TW Camera app, it's not very nice looking, and the last time I used it, it wasn't nearly as functional. That aside, you should just be able to replace the APK as I don't think there should be anything that will affect functionality missing, but I can't say that for certain as you may run into issues.
Isn't there a camera firmware apk? Or is this in all phones and it's just what the actual camera app uses to communicate with hardware?

Thanks Innuts. I was just curious. Maybe its just me but when I take pics in portrait mode the buttons don't rotate to portrait mode like AOSP. Also I noticed sometimes if you take a picture in portrait it doesn't rotate the image, so it looks sideways. I noticed this when taking a picture then sharing it to social website. I was just going to test both out for fun

Wouldn't an AOSP camera allow for enhanced or modded Camera apks? I know we already have some slightly modded camera apks. One thing I think would be cool is some sort of adjustment to take shots at different exposure levels automatically.
Another thing that would just be insanely cool is the ability to pull out the RAW data. Is this possible with AOSP camera, or would a camera firmware rewrite be necessary? I would be completely blown away with RAW.
I personally like the tw camera, so I pulled the camera apk and camera firmware apk from tweakstock and put them into eclipse. while I was at it I also pulled the clockpackage apk, calculator apk and the calender apk from mnml and put in eclipse a well. As you can see I like the tw apps, but I love the speed of eclipse.Don't know what the difference is but the phone opens instantly on eclipse which is something I haven't been able to get any other ROM to do. So I think I will stay with eclipse with the tw apps for now until something better comes along. Sorry to hijack the thread, just wanted to put in my two cents.

[APP]New Camera android 4.3 (leaked)

I saw it in different forums for other devices but not here on One S. Looking after it, I've found a version that is working on our devices and I've thought to put it here as well for others to enjoy.
Gallery version is 1.1.40012
Just to be sure... I don't take any credit for it, I just found it, tested if it's working and put the download link.
To install:
1. Download from below link and save it on your sdcard
2. Install using a file manager, I wasn't asked for root permisions and it was NOT installed in system/app (original camera/gallery app are preserved). A new Gallery and Camera apps will be shown
3. Enjoy
DOWNLOAD
What works and I've tested:
- take pictures on all res
- photo-sphere works
- panorama works (I've got though some garbled photos at the end)
- front camera works
- video recording works (both 720 and 1080)
- all settings work
Bugs: (I found only two by now)
- garbled photo for panorama's
- the small lower right circle/icon for popping up the settings is somehow cropped (part of it is shown little bit up) but this is related to the incorrect resizing of the app I believe.
Tested on MIUI V5 3.7.19 but I'm pretty sure it'll work on other ROMs as well
Working fine for me on rom stock, thank's
I had problems installing this app on paranoid.
The answer is easy :
If you have problems installing this you have to uninstall existing Galleryapp using Titanium Backup app first then install the APK.
Just in case someone wonders how's the quality of this camera, I've made some few tests and posted my findings HERE. (I was asked to compare this camera with MIUI's camera)
does the "burst" mode work?. Will it work on non-sense rom? Thanks.

It has very few options (maybe because it's not fully released???). I couldn't find a "burst mode". It doesn't have HDR as well.
It should work on non-sense ROMs since it's AOSP. I've tested on MIUI which is sense based but Daihogo said he tested it on Paranoid and that is a non-sense ROM.
Tested on CM10 HTC One S(s4), and no burst mode. Everything else works. Kind of "strange" set up, but could get used to it. The "no burst" is a deal breaker. Sadly, going back to sense rom. I hope that someone will "make" version with burst mode.
Been Using this for a while now and love it. the volume rocker works for taking snaps
Works great!
Too bad it doesn't place the pictures in the same map as the stock camera

The stock (sense) camera and AOSP camera always place the photos in different folders under DCIM. One places them in "camera" the other in "100media"
I saw someone else did an MD5 and this is the same camera from the SGS4 release a month or so ago. Still, it's an improvement if only for the fact that the stupid shutter button doesn't move when rotated anymore. I gladly will give up all the CM customizations for that alone.

[APP][CAM][NEMESIS] CyanogenMod Focal: unofficial build

Here it is! The first part of the Nemesis project, Focal, is already here!
This is just a build I made downloading the source from github.
I will try to update it as new versions progressively come.
This isn't my work, say thanks to the CyanogenMod Team instead!!
Sorry for the Google Drive download link, but I apparently can't upload this file as attachment...
UPDATE: It seems to better work on Nexus devices and on AOSP based ROMs. Stock ROMs like Sense, TouchWiz etc. will probably experience problems with this camera.

thanks for compiling!
i have currently a nexus 4 running stock 4.3 unrooted with stock kernel.
this is the first time i tried focal, and here are my impressions:
the preview lags. constantly. no matter what conditions, dark or sunny.
i dont like the interface, even though it has nice ideas, its just too much. im not a big photographer, so for me these features are not that important to me, i much more prefer simplicity, and this is just overwhelming.
i dont really get how the view of the previously taken photos should work, how i can navigate through them and how it can be deleted.
they took a lot of good ideas from the official camera app, but implemented it in the wrong way.
as for picsphere: i dont like that there is no preview, i only see the frame when i already took it. and that i have to manually press the shutter button to take the frame, and its not automatic. they should at least give an option for that.
picsphere rendering is very slow, much faster on stock.
plus it saves all frames of a picsphere as separate photos too, whats that all about?
and wheres hdr mode?
and why is it locked in landscape mode?
so to sum up: i like the idea of having cyanogenmod-developed apps instead of stock, but it still has a loooong way to go to become a considerable option to replace the stock camera app.

Most features work on my sensation.
You can change which of the editing settings you want to appear using the slide-up settings.
Picsphere has previews for me. But I agree the rendering needs work.
HDR works
You can swipe from the left/top to get to gallery and see/edit/delete pictures.
It's not locked in landscape for me either.
I used the zip from the other thread though

Which Camera App Do You Use?

The on-going debate about the S3's camera when using Touchwiz vs. an AOSP ROM made me wonder about the camera apps itself. Which camera app do you primarily use? Coming from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, I actually miss the AOSP camera app (where you have the touch-wheel that lets you adjust settings on the fly). The stock TW camera app isn't quite as intuitive (e.g. to change white balance, I have to press the Options button and scroll down through a litany of settings just to change it).
I've been tempted to try OTHER camera apps, like Camera MX. Does anyone have a preference?
Snap camera. Easy. Love it. There is a thread here somewhere where the developer is active in it.

I had been using this camera https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.moblynx.camerajbplus&hl=en until getting onto 4.3.1, whenever I use a 3rd party camera, it's fails and then no app can connect to the camera, I have clear the cache and dalvik cache to get the stock camera to work. But if the the jb+ camera works for you I'd recommend it. I use this camera when I'm not in a rush https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.pro&hl=en (there's a lite version too I think) It just gives you complete control of your camera. It's great for arty fartsy stuff but if you need to take a quick photo it might not be the best the app.
Stock Camera
I use the stock camera, but I just downloaded VSCO Cam, I'll see if its any good.
sspencer10
KITKAT 4.4 From the best! sspencer10 best rom for 4.4 try it out hes doing a great work on that room 4.4 camera is running very smooth i love it but i alwayz keep my stock camera hehe
Currently using stock AOSP 4.4 camera, but I have withdrawals from TW camera, and dreams of the Note 3's camera. Anyone know of a camera the has slow/fast motion, panorama, multi-shot, and HDR modes?
camera fv-5 excellent. lots of options but perfect Samsung note camera that's on most roms

Actually I completely agree with you. It is fairly childish but honestly Note 2 on CM11 this app works better than the currently alternative. Hence my excitement
Missing options
i do have an issue, there's no panorama, and no photo sphere, even tho i have this options on my cm11 camera
Apparently Google is leaning towards "dumbing things down" by removing the more complex capabilities in some of their native apps by making them so simplistic as to literally become "point and shoot," especially with respect to this particular camera app. But when you think about it, the overwhelming majority of smartphone owners want just that: a device that works, that's simple to use, and doesn't require a huge set of menu options to just "point and shoot" and get good/useful results so, I suppose it's a winner in that manner for sure.
Tried it a few times, doesn't seem particularly special or useful over some other camera apps like Focal or others. Doesn't seem to do HDR natively and there's no option to enable it so that relegates this app to "ok, I tried it and then I uninstalled it" status for me.
For me its not better than LG G2 modded cam app.
The issue with me is that the CM11 Camera app gets stuck too often hence this is a great alternative
It is good, the only problem for me is when the flash is on and I tap to focus and than to take a picture theres a lag of about 5 seconds. Anyone have this problem? Also no HDR mod, and my camera have that option.
I'm having FC on settings option, on carbon kitkat in Samsung i9070.
love the lens blur mode. Any more cam apps that have this option?
I like it.
Yes the settings option does FC the app but honestly at this current moment, its better than the default camera app.
actually, the only setting i would change is 16:9 ratio, nothing else.
if some1 knows a shortcut for this...?
Good to know, may need to try this out, with custom roms i found a few the camera app always frooze or crashed

I've tried to change the settings thru the preferences files saved in \\data\data\com.googleCamera\shared_prefs\, but I couldn't change the resolution to the max, only the grid, flash, etc.
I want to change the "photosphere" and the "lens blur" to max resolution.
Any Idea?
let me try
Going to download it now and give a try in my grand i9082
I'll be trying it out on my Galaxy S2 with PACROM 4.4.2
Someone minds uploading it somewhere and sharing the link, I can find it on play store but it says its not available in my country I find that weird as its just a camara application...
Thanks in advance...
