I've tried everything to get Hulu to work. I tried the hacked app that's floating around here. I tried to unroot and use the official app. Nothing.
Hacked app just sits at buffering. I don't have any ad blockers installed and hosts file is default. I uprooted and the official app gives me the usual error we get on rooted phones.
I'm using a stock ROM with bloatware removed.
Has anyone gotten Hulu to work? How? Help...

Does it not show in market for you? I got it from there and it works fine

It does, but it doesn't work on a rooted device. Hacked version that's supposed to work doesn't work either.

Hi!
I am on MIUI figuring how to get the android adfree app to work.
Well, basically I installed it and download the host file. The add then tells me that everything is good to go and that I might want to reboot in order to flush dns cache or something like that, but still after that I won't work.
So, what am I doing wrong here? Please help me out!
Regards

What do you mean it wont work? To test I say just download angry birds and see if there is an ad. Some ads can't be blocked no matter what.

Yes, I have an add in angry birds for example. So I guess it is not working ...
So, what do I have to do?

Still not working I have ads everywhere :-(
What do I have to do?
I was using leedroids Rom before. There it worked on its own, didnt have to change anything.
Now I'm on miui.
So please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
btw:
If I tick "symlink from /data/data/hosts/" and then "download & install hosts", it gives me an error message:
java.io.eofexception: unknown format
what does that mean?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You need to download the new host files. If you can not do this try reinstalling the app. Dont tick symlink from /data/data/hosts/ and just try downloading the hosts. Just to throw in you do have to be rooted.
I reinstated then downloaded new host file. I do have root. still it just won't work :-(

Adfree keeps telling me that everything is set Up fine, but still no ads are blocked.

So, is there nothing I can do?

I'm stuck too on my Bell Atrix.
I'm rooted with Gladroot, and Symlink is unchecked, but I'm still getting ads.
Somebody please help!...
Anyone else getting this. I am unable to stream or download movies. Unrooted 3g Xoom.
Happens on rooted devices, because of root. But no one has said anything about non rooted. Are you unlocked? Have you tried a reboot?

No I am unlocked...but there is no way for me to OEM lock as I got screwed from the one click lock unlock thread. So no movies for me till netflix
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
That's the reason I don't trust one clicks. Id rather screw it up my self and not be pissed at anyone else :\

You can still lock your device you just need to download the img files from Motorola. Its a pretty easy process.

what nubsors said, I was originally rooted the old way i.e. manual way, then unrooted went to stock for 3.0.1 update, then got bored and rooted using the 1 click method, and manually installed the 3.1 update. Couldn't get Google Videos to work so I reflashed all of the 3.0.1 img files, oem locked it and got the OTA, and it works like a charm
News just hit that we are now able to get Hulu Plus on the Evo. Wonderful! Or so I thought. I haven't been able to get it to work. Force closed, rebooted, nothing seems to work. Any ideas on what could be wrong? And does anybody else seem to have this problem?

If you're talking about it saying that you're having network issues, you might try to revert the host file in AdFree........I was having that issue but I revert the ad blocking host file and BOOM, it works 110%
How do you revert AdFree?

To go to the app and hit the button that says Revert which is right under Download & Install Hosts......
I had downloaded adfree a while ago, but it didn't work, so I uninstalled it. I just now reinstalled it to revert it, but it still isn't working even after reboot. Any other ideas?

had problems had to revert ad free works now
Install the one below (yes, it's a different one). Before that, uninstall you 'old error' version.
Should work - and yes there may be other 'better' ad blockers, but AdFree does fine for me
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bigtincan.adfree

Thanks for the link! I've been trying to get AdFree to work all day. Do you know what the problem is?

No I don't know why they did upload a new version this way, and not just like an update..

don't work on galaxy mini
I used adaway ad blocking with ics but after upgrading to jb it doesn't work anymore and resets after each boot.
Can someone suggest a good app to block ads?
It's a known problem, if you are on the stock ROM. Any others will have the same issue although there is Adblock if you want a new one.
To get rid of the problem use a custom kernel or flash the mod that prevents read-only access in system, when the device has booted.

Also check this out for latest version. Just in case.

All ad away apps have been removed from play store... Easy to side load though

Oh you're right, I guess they recently removed them.

Also Adblock Plus is available for Android.
