Mine hide just fine in MX Player when in full screen and only show little faded dot placeholders after touching anywhere on the screen to bring up the controls. I don't know if there is a setting for it or not, I can't seem to find one

The hide bottom bar app does this well on my tab 2.

[Q/Idea] Navigation music controls?

Anyone know of an app that will allow music controls on the Google Navigation screen? And if not, maybe this would be something helpful to others, if someone could write this?
Bump! I this bugs the crap out of me! I was a long time iphone user and switched to android recently. This is the only thing that bugs me about the switch. With the iPhone I could double tap the home button, scroll left and control whatever music was playing without leaving the navigation app or use the built in app music controls.
On android I have to scroll down to the notification menu, click on my music player, change the song, scroll back down into the notification menu, click on navigation to reopen it. I know it's a little thing but it's really annoying.
Any fixes or work around?
bump again, this drives me crazy when i'm driving! I have to decide before I leave whether I want to use the music app and actually be able to control the songs, or use the GPS and actually see where I'm going. Is there any way to get music controls on the GPS screen, or even another app that will at the very least give you the next turn information and let you control your music from one screen?

I quoted your older post because I don't have an answer for your most recent post.
The workaround is going to depend on your Rom. I have not been stock in over a year so I'm not sure there is one for that.
I usually have my audio steaming through a Bluetooth device and can use that to control my music on all the roms I have tried.
The Rom I am currently playing with is ClearDroid 1.4.1 build 2, which has a recent apps window in the notification area. You can quickly switch back and forth between music and navigation using this. 1 swipe and one press. If music is playing the notification area also gives you info on the track and a pause button. Tapping it opens the music app but pausing the music causes this notification to clear and you would have to switch back to the music app to restart.
I seem to recall more complete music controls in the notification area of other roms. I can load some nandroids to check.
Now I'm in a Pickle

Figured the "please post all questions in the Q & A section...." was not appropriate for a thread that has been here for so long.

Full screen video player without status bar?

Is there a video player that will play full screen without showing the status bar on the buttom? Both rock player and vital player do not hide the status bar.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
i use mobo player, and have the same issue.
I'm wondering the same thing. The stock video player hides the navigation buttons and puts tiny dark dots in place of them and hides the clock, but the bar is still there. I assume there is probably a way to do the same in a 3rd party app if it is programmed correctly for honeycomb. Still, it would be nice if there was a way to hide it all together, and then show it if you touch the screen in video player mode.
Most of the movies I watch can't be played by the stock player.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
has anyone tried Pandora KM Player?
If you play the video through MyNet the staus bar will disappear and display 4 small faint dots, hardly noticeable. Also on the bottom left of the player there is a light glow which I thought was light bleed but on closer inspection seems to be part of the player background.
It's impossible (and will likely remain so) to fully hide the system bar in Honeycomb since you'd be stranded in the current app without it*. Developers can use setSystemUiVisibility() to "dim" it, but totally removing it is impossible.
*Less vital (and a bit of a derail), you'd also open up a security risk by being able to hide the bar. A malicious app could go full-screen, spoof the system bar, and trick the user into going "back" into a fake browser or such, at which point they'd steal their passwords. This is the same reason Flash shows an "Esc to exit full screen" on the desktop.

Iirc the 3.1 software will allow more flexibility over the status bar behavior, here's hoping. It is problematic that the navigation buttons are in the system bar though, lets hope they can get something workable as that bar effectively makes the 800 pixels not so 800.

The real question is: Why do people have 16:10 videos? Because unless you are bothered by 3 small dots on the black part of the video, why does it matter?

I dont know why it really bugs some of you. It doesnt really bother me, when it dims the buttons it isn't even noticeable.

As others have mentioned, the problem is that it takes up valuable screen real estate (~7.5%)
The reason to want it gone/hidden is simple.
Display =16:9
if Movie=16:9 then
simple math.
Yeah, but the display is 16:10, not 16:9.

And what about everyting else? PDFs, comics, photos (most are 4:3 or 3:2). They should have left one physical button for showing/hiding the bar. The way it is now - it sucks. I don't mind in only in portrait mode because there is enough space on the bottom then anyway.

They specifically mentioned "Lights Out" mode which allows you to hide the icons which turns the ones on the bottom left into glowing dots (as seen in gallery view). I understand that this still does not allow you to truly use 800 vertical pixels, but it is an improvement and it is a change related to the system bar.

Works great on ARHD 1.2.1. This exactly what I needed. There are a few app and games, such as any Divide Arts (Earth & Legend) game, that force the status bar over to the side. It really bugs me when that happens. This has eliminated that. Nice work .

I've noticed that any app I have used that modifies the status bar function lags the homescreen. Pity. Hidebar does not have this problem since it activated by a notification prompt.

VolumeSwipe pre-release

I made an app that lets you adjust volume in a number of apps (including Netflix, Hulu+, Gallery Video, Amazon Video, Amazon mp3) by swiping along the side of the screen. You can also turn on boost mode to adjust volume up to 140%.
Here's the apk. It's free, but does contain an ad for a paid app of mine. Since it's Open Source, you can build your own copy without this ad.
I know there is already an app that lets you adjust volume by swiping, but I thought it would be nicer to have this active only in a few apps, so it doesn't get in the way in other apps.
I eventually hope to add a feature where you can select additional apps to the list where VolumeSwipe is active, but that's for the future. But if there is some popular video/audio playing app that I've left out, let me know.
This seems cool. What's the other app you're talking about?
thanks for the work you put in.

VolumeControl hides visually, but of course it's still there even when hidden, so it will get in the way if you want to tap on something in that area of the screen in an app. Ditto for my VolumeSwipe, except that the problem is minimized by the fact that VolumeSwipe is only active in a few apps.
Also, I think the narrowness of the VolumeControl bar, even on its widest setting, might make it harder to hit (though I haven't tried VolumeControl specifically on our Kindle, since I haven't rooted our Kindle due to DMCA concerns). VolumeSwipe provides a much wider bar. I think that's probably nicer if, say, you are watching a movie at the gym.
Sounds nice. You say "a number of apps (including...)". Could we have a complete list of the apps you include? BTW, you mention that your slider is narrower than Vol Control. Vol control's slide width is adjustable in the settings

I don't know what you mean by auto hide. Right now, when you let go of the swipe area, it disappears. Or at least it's supposed to.
Not disappearing on mine for some reason but thats what I meant by auto hide. If you made a invisible option that would be a good solution /feature to solve my issue and anyone else who may come across it. It's a great app to have on the KF though especially for use with youtube (every vid is recorded @ diff vol levels) ... I was having to exit youtube everytime to adjust the vol (annoying) but now I can just swipe! Thanks

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, 1.01 was buggy.
I think I fixed some bugs in 1.02.
I recommend uninstalling 1.01, then rebooting, then installing 1.02.
Unfortunately, due to a bug in Android's package manager (which I reported to Google), it is necessary to turn off VolumeBoost before installing a new a version. I have not been able to find an easy way around this.
NOTE: USE BOOST ONLY AT YOUR OWN RISK. IT COULD DAMAGE SPEAKERS (especially if you turn off the non-uniform boost option in the settings).
It's officially in the Appstore.

You can still manipulate things like transparency, height, width and colour with the app so its pretty good if you want that too.
Personally hate the speaker chin and button combo, wish they went with the HOX set up. Used to using pie now anyways.

Does anyone know how to keep the stock navbar icons with this GMD Auto-Hide app? I like the app but don't like the buttons it uses, even when you choose the "HTC" option under themes. They just look ugly compared to the normal stock navbar icons.

You all realize this is "immersive mode" in android. The buttons only hide when they aren't needed. Simply swipe where the NAV bar would be and the icons come back.
Not to thread jack... but I'm currently using Ultimate Dynamic Nav bar (see this thread on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270198).
I find it more flexable (you can set your own keys, have up to 7, multiple themes, multiple behaviors).
Best feature? I have a button dedicated for screen off, and when you long press it, it opens up APM. I also have a menu button which launches volume control upon long press.
An alternative that works on the M8.

In the options menu, you need to select "Keep trigger at panels side" as well as "Keep panel on right". Then you can swipe on the right when using the camera and it will work.
It is a bit confusing, but if you don't have those options selected, when in the Camera you need to swipe from the button to open the buttons.

Like this, seems to work well. Would be better if it could be set on a per app basis, to keep them visible when running certain apps.
All of you do realize that 4.4.2 has "Immersive Mode" that lets you hide the Status Bar and/or the Nav Bar until they're needed, right??
ALL of these special NavBar apps and whatnot are redundant.
