What apps NOT to link with Link2SD? - General Questions and Answers

I know Widgets, Launchers, Themes are not recommended to be linked, but what about some important apps like Titanium Backup, SuperUser ?
anything else i should not link?
Thanks for any clarification

You can link widgets, launchers, and themes... the only problem is if you take out your SD card they all FC, you will need to reboot
Tibackup can be linked, and I've linked SU before, but I don't think it's such a hot idea considering Link2SD needs SU to work, but if SU is linked it needs Link2SD thus creating a paradox. (I didn't have issues but who knows)
You can pretty much link any app but Link2SD itself and system apps

Better not link system apps as it can cause instabilities

exactly my thought with SuperUser. I left it back in internal in case any problems..who knows lol. But System Apps are definitely not meant to be linked. I think link2sd doesn't even allow them to be linked.

Yup you're right xD learned that the hard way a long time ago...now newer versions of Link2SD disables options to link system apps i believe:good:

Hope you can tweak that rom manager properly which you're planning since Rom Manager (the app) and other rom installers don't work properly on some devices.

lets see, what this will be... I hope something really good.
I would like also to see a feature, that removes unwanted apps completely, with mass removing and presettings.. like remove all google apps but not market or all apps but not stock apps and so on.

I could do mass remove of apps from the /data/app by running
rm /data/app/*.apk
But i dont fancy doing mass removal from the system partition

Surely not?!
However, If that is the only answer, an explanation would be nice as a factory reset seems a little extreme don't u think?

You probably have to go into either;
- /system/app/; or
- /data/app/directory and delete the odex file that has the same name.
Example: If you cannot install Titanium Back Up. Navigate to /data/app/ and find titanium.odex. Remove it and now you can install titanium.
Hope it help :fingers-crossed:

This might sound stupidly simple but, are you sure you just aren't low on space from music or movies, etc...?

Do factory Reset and through CWM Recovery Restore your setting and Apps from NAND Backup (if only you created one)..
ok guys - just sorted it.
i installed app2sd at some point and i think i was trying to get it to install by default to my sd card. problem is that the old tab 7.7 doesnt support installing to sd. So what was happening it was just giving me a no error message. i used Super manager 3 to default back to the device memory, rebooted and all ok now.
sorry for my stupidity. but shame on the amount of users telling me to do a factory reset - thank god i didnt listen to y'all!!

**** happens
I faced the same problem with my Xperia ZR after playing with Link2SD.
Fixed it with starting the terminal and typing:
Code:
su
pm set-install-location 1
pm get-install-location
Resut is 1[internal], and the apps are now installing.

Uninstall Titanium Backup (system app)

So I installed a CM9 ROM and it has Titanium backup pre-installed as a system app, how do I TOTALLY remove it? I tried deleting it from /system/app. Where are the rest of it's files?
question...why are you trying to delete it?
And after deleting it from system/apps what other files are you taking about?

I just want to uninstall it. No specific reason.
What files? That's exactly what I'm asking

interesting. titanium is pretty much the only app with enough power to uninstall completely most other apps. its like what would you use to clean the inside of a bottle of bleach? different bleach? lol
also not sure what you mean by 'rest of its files'? delete it from system/app/ and then reboot.
Have you tried Links2SD, it also has super powers similar to Titanium Backup, and will allow you change it from a system app to an user app, and then to uninstall it.

Be careful, some of those system apps will wreak havoc if you delete them. I would search the internet for a list of the safe to remove ones.

Maybe try freezing them first with TiBu or Gemini just to make sure (?)

Bloatware

Hi guys,
Quick question... I got this phone three days ago... I rooted it mostly to delete some of the bloatware... The thing is, I tried to delete the apps on the system folders, but it won't allow it... It returns an error message saying it is not possible to delete the files...
Anyone knows why this is happening and if there's a workaround?
Thanks!!!

why uninstall system applications,it is not recommended either one developers that is risky.
try this application work good.Make sure the app you are going to uninstall is not a system app.
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=zsj.android.systemappremover&hl=en
install and Open Root app delete on your android phone and,Tap on System apps and tap on Pro when prompted to choose from Junior or Pro mode.
Scroll through the list of system apps and tap on any of the apps which you want to be removed from your phone.
Next tap on Uninstall to remove the unwanted app and again tap on OK to confirm your selection.
In case the app cannot be remove properly, you will see the following error. Tap on OK and then tap on #1 to force uninstall the app.
Now the unwanted app / bloatware will be removed from your android phone.

What version are you running? How did you get root?
Hi guys...
First of all, the "What???" wasn't meant for this post, for some strange reason when I replied on another forum post it did here... I'm really sorry about that...
Anyway... The phone was bugging and the root wasn't working right, that's why I wasn't able to delete the apps... I wasn't trying to delete system apps, but things like Google+ which I don't use at all...
Anyway, I'm on a D2306 from Brazil... I flashed the 4.4.2 global to get rid of the carrier apps, but I probably did something wrong while flashing and rooting it, so it was't working... I reflashed it yesterday and did the root again and it worked flawlessly...
I deleted the integrated apps I don't use and the phone is perfect now...
Thanks for all the help...
That's first thing I also do after rooting. There is so much delivered with the phone, and not few of it completely useless to me.
I think the advice not deleting system apps, hmmm .... what is a system app? Sony Home? SystemUI ? Or Google+, Gmail, Maps, Sony Select, ... all in system and unremovable without root. I understand that we need to be protected from doing harm to the phone we bought. But still I think the phone should come with a kind of admin function or semi-root to remove what is not needed. As it is it has more the smell of forcing people to using certain things.
For other apps I have different needs than what is supplied. I am lucky I can change things. As examples, for email I can use a normal email program such as K9, for sms I can use an sms messenger that actually does give repeat notifications, such as Evolve, QuicPic to me is the superior Album at 1/10 of the size, for navigation and maps I use Mapfactor bcs it has real offline navigation, and so on and on.
