Hey as with the old htc devices such as the sensation and the desire s you needed to be s-off to flash or change your radio at will, im pretty sure you need s-off to flash new radios to your device. I have an s-off device so wouldnt be able to verify this for a fact as i can flash freely to my device, but im pretty sure you will need s-off to flash radios, please correct me if im wrong
No, it's possible without s off. Go into the development section , a topic say that we can flash a radio if the hboot is below .13 but i don't if .13 is included or not.

It depends which nexus you are referring to?
Edit: PEP-C who posted the comment above is a friend of mine he has the nexus s, which is nothing compared to the the one s, I've just bought his s-off one s off him so I'm a tad happy

you could downgrade the hboot to 1.06 and flash the radio through recovery. I did this today and it works i upgraded my radio to 1.08es.
Only downgrade if you have the s4 version of the phone!

No you can not. Only with hboot 1.06 and 1.09.
But we can now downgrade hboots.
On these low hboots, you can flash radio, adsp, wcnss, rpm, tz, splash by dd'ing them directly into the block device in an adb shell in recovery.

No.
I bought mine with 1.06 on it and kept it that way by never taking RUUs or OTAs.
EDIT: However, I did flash all of those partitions with images from other RUUs or OTAs.
Another interesting thread on this in DEV
I also found this post on the DEV section on radios... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684477&highlight=radio
Its a method that doesnt seem to require an hboot downgrade, but its an older post, and may be from the pre hboot 1.13 era...

Foudre le radio
Only for older hboots than yours though it seems:/ You can always try CM10 though, it packages the radio in files which are easy to replace and doesn't use your "real" radio at all.
But if i return to ViperOneS for exemple does the radio change ?

No it can flash boot.img or kernel. If you use Cyanogenmod you can flash a radio without hboot downgrade.

You can flash a radio if your hboot is 1.13 or 1.14 otherwise you have to downgrade to do it.
You cannot downgrade with a RUU. Using old ones only work AFTER you downgrade.

and yet in the post above you say you can flash a radio if you have 1.13 or 1.14
My understanding of all this is as follows:
1. The RUU you want to flash has to have an HBOOT version greater or equal to the one you currently have. If you want to flash an older RUU you need to do a bootloader downgrade. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671643&page=11 at the top.
2. You can only flash a radio on a higher bootloader (ie 1.13 or 1.14) if you are using Cyanogen Mod 10 based ROMs. Radios and a discussion about this can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998270&highlight=cm10
It appears that Cyanogen uses a different directory for its Radios so those can be flashed even though underneath your HTC would still have the older radio.

A french guy downgraded his hboot and i will do a tuto so i think i will downgrade in a few time

Downgrading !just! HBOOT does not wipe your data. Did it just yesterday.
If you also want to downgrade your HTC ROM (RUU), you have to edit /dev/block/mmcblk0p23. When you run the RUU, yes, all your data is lost. Changing mmcblk0p23 also does not wipe your data.

Hi I'm a noob and I don't know what to do next. I have a T-Mobile Sensation 4G that I S-offed using revolutionary before taking the ICS update but I really don't know what to do next.
Attached is what my Hboot shows right now.
I have read this forum and several of the how to guides but it's not clear to me what my next step is.
I assume I need to unlock the bootloader next but can someone explain to me how to do it using either the KGS tool or the Hansoon2000 tool without using HTCDev, (they keep saying registration is closed).
Next am I supposed to flash a recovery? SuperCID? Flash PG58IMG.zip? Root?
Could you please list the exact order I'm supposed to these steps in? It's very confusing.
S-off that's good. Now unlock it via HTC-DEV Website (very easy 5-10min)
Root the phone then install 4ext recovery APK
then install any rom you want

Is there a way to unlock bootloader without using HTCDev? From reading the board it's simplied the HTCDev off is not a full (or real) unlock. Unless they are saying the bootloader is unlocked but it remains S-on.
Fistly i unlocked thé bootloader then i S-OFF'ed m'y Sensation
Oh: i forgot that you can try the KGS utility in développement section

any tip, help would be apreciated.
im a old semi-dev (like semi-god lol just a joke) but mostly for samsung and motorola devices.
this is mmm, lets say my semi first HTC device, i briked accidentaly a HTC Sensation 4g, resiving an ota, i forget to change my cid.
There is no best way, there are many ways.
If you are s-off, just run a ruu of your choice with the hboot you want.
Check what cid you need for the ruu (HTC__xxx) (because a ruu will still do checks). I prefer a og HTCcid over supercid anyday, you have experienced that already.
cid is now easy to change with a fastboot command (or leave the supercid).

Its a bit slower going into bootloader or recovery its not much so up to if you want to upgrade also a newer one don't have the loading bar.
Run the RUU
Safest way to downgrade your hboot to 1.06 is to install the shipped rom RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.53.401.2_Radio_0.15.31501S.19_10.12.31501S.06L_release_251412_signed.exe
