An introduction to the new camera and gallery from Android 4.2

-Download the file below
-Boot into CWM using Volume UP+Home button then power button,
-Install ZIP from sd card
-Choose zip from sd card.
-Flash the ZIP file that you downloaded.
-Done and enjoy

The script doesn't work, I tried a few times but it turns out not copying the files into the system folder.
So, I manually put in all the files and configure all the permission and owner.
The camera works, and so the photosphere but the photosphere is in a really slow performance.
May be our phone can't handle it.
In the camera mode, I can't open the gallery as the one in ur video. Not sure if I missed anything.
Yep flashing didnt work had to manually replace the files.

Sorry guys, its night time at my place I will fix it and then post again tomorrow.
For some strange reasons gallery edit and crop force close whenever i tried cropping or saving an edited picture. Same problem when I flashed with the original 4.2 camera. It worked for the first time and started to FC after that.

Download camerav2.zip - 8.77 MB. It should work.
After install you will find 2 camera icons in you app drawer.
after instal camerav2 doesnt work. camera icon still the old one.
im using restruction remix jb.

Try pushing them manually to their respective folders and change permission to rw--r--r and reboot.
It worked that way but the only problem was the one i mentioned few posts earlier...

Its working for me, Old Gapps will remove at time of Flash and new 4.2 gapps will Flash on it

So yeah, Firstly, i tried cyanogen mod on Galaxy fit, now i need your help to gather all the things that are working, and things that aren't and make a list of them, as well as any files/patches/bugfixes available.

Things that are working:
- Themes (apply a theme and reboot to get it to work)
- DSP manager
- Soft Keys
- Bluetooth
- Wireless (the networks won't show in a popup but will show through wifi settings )
- Video PlayBack
- LCD density

- Almost everything?
Things that are NOT working:
- some videos in the gallery (mostly 360p mp4 videos downloaded from youtube) codec relate i think. [edit] Now Working!
- Camera [edit] Now Working!
- Sound Plays through Top speaker when the headphone is plugged in.
- Overclocking
-Wifi/USB tethering Don't Work
- Please Tell me so i can list them
Bug Fixes Go Here (Please confirm if they work!)
- Wifi Works, Long Press the wifi button after turning it on and you'll see all available networks (The Network List will NOT popup like in the stock ROM) :3
- Bluetooth Works well (But not on first boot, just reboot once and all is good :3)
- You Can Use Fx File Explorer if you don't like the normal file explorer (found here https://market.android.com/details?id=nextapp.fx)
- Themes : Use an LDPI theme and reboot to get it to work

1st camera app that is working came pre installed with cm7 2nd those kernels didn't worked Cox they were actually ported for galaxy mini rom to be flashed with cwm so they didn't worked

I tried flashing cwm using the file here http://www.mediafire.com/?0nhu0rnqxcd40wd and the camera app would hang on each try? and of course the kernels don't work

galary takes a whole lot of time to load
theme chooser dosnt work with many themes notification bar force close
LCD density dosnt work (its must needed my fevrt app)
file manager need to be update it suck
contacts need to be update no grouping
msg app need to be updated bcz we can not send mst to recent or group it must needed in a msg app

u will get same problems
youtube only audio works . Needs codecs for videos.
The attached zip file ( Includes the necessary video codecs) works for Cyanogen 7.1 for Galaxy Mini. It is flashed from CWM.
May be someone here modify it to work for Cyanogen 7.1 for Galaxy Fit and make an update.zip file to work from recovery in Fit

This mod is originally by AndroidON (thread here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411317) so credit to him for making this known. And please read the thread before implying this to your phone.
I've made 2 files for KQB ROM. One is for stock deodexed KQB, and another one is compatible with nail16's swipe to remove notification mod. Don't forget to mount system before flashing.
This mod will disable 'ScrollingCache' in OS. It will improve scrolling in applications where some apps are found to stutter when scrolling.
NOTE: Make a backup copy of framework.jar in case if you want to revert back to original. And backup your rom in case of bootloop

Please try this file. Have made it two or three days ago, you can flash it simply via Recovery. Don't know if there is a real difference but it won't damage anything. If it does, I'm not responsible for anything happened to your phone.
Edit: New file, removed volume-tweak 'cause buggy...

It disables 'scrollingcache' and smooth apps that stutter/lag when scrolling. As for the screenlock lag, try setting your onscreen/offscreen governors. Or you can try softlocker from market.

Maybe the framework.jar is different as this one's based on BroodROM. Try ravox's file above maybe it helps.

There's a bug with the media volume. If you rise it from zero to middle it stops there and then it rises again. Will upload a new file without volume-mod.

not really much actually, but that's the same for all tweaks, they all make a small difference but all together they make a great difference
so seems at least not to brick anything... i think it really has a small effect but it also could be just a placebo...

Having issues here. Seems like there is no keyboard installed for me.
And the themes are not working, it doesn't change even after applying.
EDIT: Found the fix for the themes. Just create a "theme" folder under data/system using root explorer. As for the keyboard issue, I just installed a keyboard app from my sdcard and use that.

i forgort that the reason it does not create that is the updater script i had to remove it kept saying writing to ~/data and it would fail

Add a keyboard to the new version whenever you update and take one of the launchers out. Other than that, I love it.
Torch FCs constantly, if you use the toggle for it, it breaks lockscreen due to constant FC and flashlight lockscreen.

everything seems to work fine... just a few things that are buggy
camera works but front face cam picture is upside down and don't fill the entire screen
sometimes when I try to use setting of some apps i can't see the words because it clashes with the dark background
other than that this is a solid rom Good Job :good:

Ported Android 4.2 Camera & Gallery never tested yet but maybe you wanted to give this shot.
Or you can download here: Android 4.2 Camera & Gallery
Move to system/app folder in Root Explorer and make sure the set permissions to RW-R-R then reboot.

Update: Just tested it and it works..Awesome.
Edit: I'm using scott 10/22 build everything works except camera sphere. You can rename also ff on system/app/gallery2.apk and gallery4.apk to whatever like gallery2.bak or gallery4.bak to backup your old camera and galery

We patched the Camera to stop checking for compatible phones when starting Photo Sphere - it should work on all devices now.

What should be working now is:
1. Panorama.
2. Photosphere. (requires gyroscope?)
3. Photo editing.
4. and the ordinary photo/video stuff.
5. Should work on ALL phones.
That means what doesn't work is:
1. Sphereview
Dev-Host - 4.2Camera_t02.zip - The Ultimate Free File Hosting / File Sharing Service

I believe this is the final version of the apk without to do anything with those lib*.so files mentioned in comment#3 of the post.
UPDATE: I just flashed the zip from the link(after renaming gallery2.apk and galaxy4.apk). It works like charm on my Infuse running scott's 10/27 cm10 build. PhotoSphere is also working(I noticed that phone gets little warm while using that feature, but other than that it's fine).
UPDATE-2:
STEPS for installing Android 4.2 Camera/Gallery(with photosphere)
1. Go to /system/app(use root explorer or similar), rename galaxy4.apk and gallery2.apk to galaxy4.bak and gallery2.bak
2. Download flashable zip
3. Reboot into recovery
4. Flash the zip you downloaded in step-2
5. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache(in advanced) and Reboot system now
Boom, you will see new camera and gallery app in app drawer. Also, you may notice that lockscreen camera shortcut might now work, no worries, just re-configure it to new camera app in Settings-> Lock Screen-> Slider Shortcut

STEPS for installing Android 4.2 Camera/Gallery(with photosphere)
1. Go to /system/app(use root explorer or similar), rename galaxy4.apk and gallery2.apk to galaxy4.bak and gallery2.bak
2. Download flashable zip
3. Reboot into recovery
4. Flash the zip you downloaded in step-2
5. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache(in advanced) and Reboot system now
Boom, you will see new camera and gallery app in app drawer. Also, you may notice that lockscreen camera shortcut might now work, no worries, just re-configure it to new camera app in Settings-> Lock Screen-> Slider Shortcut

Thanks i'll try to flash this without changing build.prop and update result later...
it all works awesomely, except for the obvious sphere-view. just flashed and tested, on latest JB PA

The photosphere works and to view it after u make one flip or finger from right to left on screen and u see it

If you download there newest version from here everything works including sphere view

It doesn't fully work. If you try to capture a picture in a text or any other app, the option to save the picture doesn't exist. You can re-shoot. But you can't get past the image of the picture you took. It never lets you attach it.

Is there a trick to using this, as in getting a successful sphere photo? I can never seem to get it to render properly, it looks all out of sync
Its not the app most of the functionality relys on your movements, so try to steady your hands as much as possible and try to line up the rectangles the best to you ability

Can't Get Gallery to Open.
I downloaded the files and placed then in the system/app folder. Changed the permissions and the camera works fine, but the gallery doesn't open. When I hit the gallery icon it says "Unfortunately Gallery has stopped." I've tried reinstalling and several other avenues and end up with the same results. Is anyone else having this issue?
I actually did flashed it in my HTC Sensation xl but now cannot get rid of it. As my phone does not see in the root were it is. Also comparing to the HTC cameras it has no quality at all.

I am on scott's Cm10 10/21 build and tried both the original and the patched zip files and I am still having issues with the 720p HD stuttering.
I've been using the Android 4.2 camera for a couple weeks without any problems. Thank you.

Installation:
Download apk file
Push apk to system/app
Rename gallery2.apk to gallery2.apk.bak (just in case you want to go back to original Camera)
Change permissions to rw-r-r
Reboot (I wipe cache and dalvik but not required)
(If these instructions seem hard or u don't now what some of these things mean then u shouldn't be doing this)

Seamless lock screen shortcut

**Bugs:
If you choose HDR mode with main Cam and then switch to FFC the screen will freeze. Go back to main Cam and turn HDR off, switch to FFC.
Power button for shutter.
Tested on PA 3.96, 4.3 and PA 4.0 , 4.4
Any other Rom results may vary. Please feel free to list results from other Roms

This mod works with 4.4 Kit Kat Roms.
I am currently using it with the latest PA Alpha.
It may not work with all 4.4 Roms.
That said, if u want a work around for FFC reboot on 4.4 Roms try* this.
**UPDATE** It has been reported to me several times that this Camera is NOT working on Slim Kat 1.9 beta. I do nt know why. This is the first time ever that is hasnt worked. I will keep you guys posted. So for now DO NOT USE WITH SLIM KAT 1.9

Try using focal CM camera. I love the features it has and it had HDR

No I think thats in the Focal camera from CM

Sorry I should have added the Installation instructions to the OP in the first place. OP Updated.
Just push to system/app, change permissions and reboot.
Ok, dumb question but here goes. Can I go into recovery an change permissions on system an then do the sideload option an install the camera apk that way?

This might be a really stupid question, but how do we know if it worked? My app info reads 1.1.40001
Problem might be because I have also installed the moto x camera too...I have multiple "gallery" apps.
Sorry for the stupid question, I promise I was/am capable to copy the file to system/app and fix permissions if that counts for anything D:

Just tried this on masta's 11/27 4.4 build and it seems to be working perfectly far as I can tell. Has a lot more options than the 4.4 cams as of right now. Thanks man!
