I believe it's actually press&hold power up, then press volume up.
Moot point for the OP, but good to know for future problems.
Hey guys when I encountered the problem earlier, I did hold volume and power all I got was a blue screen. How do I exactly go about re flashing recovery

To get to STOCK recovery from fastboot, it's select "boot recovery" then power FIRST, then while HOLDING power, it's volume up. You can't do it the other way.
To flash a new recovery, it's fastboot mode on the phone, then on your computer (hooked to the phone via usb) the command is "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". (recovery.img is replaced by whatever name your recovery image actually has.)

[Q] How to UnBrick Phone

Hello XDA folks, Im a true noob at this flashing ROM stuff. I followed the [ClockWorkMod] for the SGS4G Public Beta 3 [05/12/2011] thread. To a "T" so I thought I replaced the recovery binary and rebooted the phone and put the update.zip file on the sd and once i booted into recovery all I get is the Glaxaxy S TM. 4g boot up screen is there a way to fix this any plz help.
Did you actually get into the recovery screen? It will be blue text, stock recovery.
Then from there you will click the volume down button to highlight Reinstall Packages and once you click that it will boot into CWM.
Was the update.zip file you put on your SD the CWM Beta 3 zip? Just clarifying, because I believe that is what you were saying.
Also how are you booting into recovery? There are few ways to accomplish this.
With the phone off, hold the two volume buttons (up and down) and then press the power button.
When the Galaxy S 4G screen appears you can let go of power but continue holding the volume buttons till it loads into recovery (blue text).
I accidentally did.that yesterday I just reflashed stock rom with odin and it got fixed

The phone is stuck on the screen when it first boots up and won't go any where. Will odin 1.7 work.

Boot into recovery

I apologize in advance for what should be an easy question. I've successfully rooted, unlocked and loaded recovery on to my ATT One X. How the heck to I boot in to recovery on this phone? I've tried holding every button combination conceivable.
Install quick boot. Easily chose boot mode.
Thanks, didn't think to do that!
Power off phone with nothing plugged into it. Then hold volume down and power until phone turns on in bootloader choose recovery.

Htc One S Bricked can't get into bootloader

I have an htc one s s3, I unlocked the bootloader and flashed a a recovery without any issue, then I wiped data, system and cache and tried to flash an s4 rom (mistakenly, of course and the instalation was aborted and gave me an asserts error), and after that I rebooted my phone without problems but then when i tried to boot into recovery to flash an s3 rom my phone didn't boot into anything, no system, no recovery and no bootloader, my phone shows an HTC screen for a couple of seconds and then the screen goes black but keeps lit. The hard reset flashes the capacitivr keys and again HTC imagr and black screen. I really don't know what to do, please help

Hold volume down + power until the phone turn off. Let go then repeat and hold until you are in bootloader

I sometimes find that I must hold down only the "volume down" button after pushing the power button to turn it on.

[Q] bootlooping on carbon

I'm starting to have boot looping problems and I tried to flash carbon latest nightly. I did everything right but it gets stuck on "your boot loader is unlocked and/or it gets stuck on carbon boot screen. I can't get to the fastboot and adb/fastboot won't recognize the device. If any help that would be great.
Well let's take it one step at a time.
First, I would try to boot to recovery and flash a stable backup - you have one of these I hope? So power off the device, and hold vol up + power to turn it on. Should boot to recovery.
If you can't make it into recovery for some reason, you should be able to make it into fastboot/bootloader mode and use the FXZ thread to restore your phone to stock. To do this hold power + camera, should boot to a selection menu.
Good luck.
