No Otterbox Will Be Made... - Nexus 4 Accessories

For the record I emailed Otterbox CS and they replied saying they have no plans to develop a case for the N4 boo, I was hoping for a commuter

just wondering but why do you like ottebox cases, im currently using iphone 5 right now cause i missed first batch of nexus 4's and my otterbox case makes my iphone 5 a brick, the nexus 4 is thicker then iphone 5 so it would be a even bigger brick.
My opinion is you should pay ~10 bucks for slim high quality case on amazon

You'd be much better off with a Ballistic or Trident case, Otterbox has the worst quality materials out of those 3 imo

Whatever case will protect the phone from cracking i will get, i dont want to feel like the back is so fragile and have to baby the phone beyond reason

They say this every time a new phone hits. I'm sure we'll see one in a couple months.

They always say that. I guarantee there will be one for the Nexus 4.

Here is one for the Optimus G...

Should fit the Nexus 4. Yes? No?

Definitely won't fit. N4 is completely different than the OpG exterior wise.

Seidio Active Alternative

I usually get the Seidio Active Combo for my device but paying $50 for it is tough. Love the case but does anyone know other combos (holster/case) of high quality for less money? If so then I would like to check them out. Thanks.

Otterbox has a series with a holster. I would also recommend Trident if you prefer a belt clip. There might be more.

Good choice. There is a reason they cost more. I had the same (never replaced) active combo on my last phone for 2 years. I work construction, my phone/case takes a beating.
My dad has gone through at least 3 different Otterboxs in the last 18 months on his iPhone. The rubber stretches out and the plastic shell gets deformed so bad that they no longer stay on the phone. They are junk, IMO. We work together under the same conditions.
I actually just got my new active combo in the mail today. It fits perfectly. Looks to be another solid case that will last until I get my next phone in two years. We'll see if the kickstand can take the abuse of construction work for two years. I doubt it, not a deal breaker though. Shouldn't be a problem for anyone with a normal type job though. ..

No good cases/bumpers for the nexus 4

Im amazed that after so many months, there is not ONE single good quality and fully functional bumper or case for the Nexus 4, aside from the official one... I've searched this entire forum, all trought youtube, ebay, amazon, google, haven't found one thats worth buying... everything is ugly as hell, or damages the signal, etc, i am very dissapointed that manufacturers dont make quality stuff for this phone...
Maybe I just haven't searched well, if u guys know any bumper or case hat is REALLY high quality, premium, nice design, nice materials, please post, would be very appreciated
Kind Regards.
You're correct. I don't even use a car or bumper because of the lack of great cases. I've bought many and all sucked.
There's plenty of good cases for this phone... Just depends what kind you want and how much you want to spend.
I have an OEM bumper, it's cheap and it works good, hasn't fallen apart or anything. Only complaint is that dust accumulates quickly underneath.
I also have a Nilkin Leather Flip Case, it works perfect, I have no complaints with it whatsoever.
It's because there's not enough carriers that have the phone. The Galaxy Nexus was on Sprint and Verizon. It had more cases.

I didn't treat it carelessly and it broke within four months. It'll eventually happen. Just wait for it. It happens without dropping it and just from natural day to day use.
The bumper is great though, the feel of the buttons are great but at the same time, it does make the phone slightly bulkier.
Using the poetic bumper and I like it. The buttons aren't as good but it isn't as bulky either.

i've gone caseless for months because of this issue. been hoping UAG would make one. but honestly really surprised as a nexus product, it has no great cases or high name companies making cases for it.
There are a few good cases (acase superleggera, myriad of tpu cases, boxwave resolute, etc.) and I like the poetic bumper even if it doesn't last long they don't seem to have any problems replacing it.
The sales aren't there for the bigger case manf. to jump on the wagon.

Yep, me too, very happy with it. Nice balance between protection and looks plus as a bumper it gives you something to grab in an attempt to avoid the dreaded finger-smudge-look that you can easily get with the Nexus 4. Fantastic phone but glass front & back? Design over common sense there...

Otterbox Defender Series Too Expensive ($70!)

http://www.otterbox.com/Galaxy-Note-4-Defender-Series-Case/sam2-galaxy-note-4-set,default,pd.html
Isn't this case too pricey?!
This is the only case you will ever need, guaranteed.
It is a little high. Your paying for top of the line. Port covers, holsters, lots of unique color choices and a screen protector. The case looks well made. For me note 2 I spent over 50 for my case and holster. The one I brought was good but this one looks better. I'd consider it if it had a kick stand.
The price should come down in a few months but I don't think it's really overpriced.
Or just grab a UAG case and get similar protection for half the price (and better looks).

It does have a kickstand... The Belt clip is a kickstand. If you pull it back the whole way it will snap into the kickstand position.

It's certainly pricier than other models but one thing they appear to have accounted for is the fingerprint scanner. It looks like the case is notched right below it. Fingerprint scan worked fine on my Note 4 until I threw the Spigen Tough Armor case on. Now I can't get a consistent swipe.

I used to have this case for the Galaxy S3. It was really sturdy but one thing I didn't like is how the TPU/rubber material eventually would not stick/pulled away from the phone and I had to keep pushing in that rubber/TPU material all the time. It was pretty pricey to have to deal with that type of problem.
When I got my Note 3, I tried a few cases and eventually stuck with the Urban Armor Gear. I kept it because it was sturdy, felt good in the hand, saw different drop tests on Youtube, and was Military drop-test certified. I kept that case and also the case with the Zero Lemon extended battery since it was sturdy, covered the ports, and looks to be able to take drops as well.
The Rubber/TPU material is something I never favored either, haha

If Otterbox fixed that issue, it would be the perfect case(although still pricey).
I would recommend the Urban Armor Gear if you haven't tried it before. The only bad thing is that it doesn't have covers for the ports, but it's still a great case. I had the white/Navigator case for the Note 3 and for the Note 4 I decided to order this one:
http://www.urbanarmorgear.com/products/galaxy-note-4-case-clear
At first, before I ordered the UAG, there weren't many options for sturdy cases that were available, so I went with this one:

For all complaining about the TPU cover stretching out on an Otterbox, you know all you have to do is take a picture of it with your info and Otterbox sends you another outer case free of charge. On my S3, I had mine and my wife's outer case, holster etc... replaced multiple times even after a year. So for $59 you paying for lifetime of support and free replacement with minimum hoop jumping.

That case does come with a holster but according to the seller does not have a kickstand unfortunately. It is the only holster case I've been able to find with headphone, mini USB & S Pen port covers. I'm waiting until the 22nd when it's available fulfilled by Amazon to see if anything else becomes available and if not I'll order it.
It is possible that case will stand up in the landscape mode when the belt clip is rotated to align with the holster clip on the side. My BodyGlove ToughSuit does that and it was not listed as a feature on Amazon when I bought it.
I've read Otterbox reviews in the past that state their cases become loose and I think their price is ridiculous.
If you can wait one of the holster/case Platinum Series Best Buy sells is made by Seidio and has a kickstand. It's the Seido convert combo. Best Buy sells it for $20 less than Seidio.
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-note-4-convert-case-holster-black-p/bd4-hkr4ssgt4-bk.htm
You can view it on Seidio's website for a different phone like the S5.

Dearth of case options...

Does it surprise anyone that there are so few options for cases with a flagship phone that has been out for over a month? I am looking at common manufacturers like Rearth and Ringke and coming up short. At least I can be reasonably content with the Gelli cases and the diztronic I bought. Looking at the Spigen site, and seeing the wealth of options for the Nexus 6, a phone that likely will only attract an extremely niche audience (even more niche than general Nexus users, of which I used to be one), I was really annoyed and surprised that they aren't doing cases for the Moto X.
I'm sure a lot of manufacturers are just waiting to see how well the X is selling before they invest time and money into designing cases. A lot of the big players were late out of the gate with the original X too.
OK, that perspective gives me hope.

UAG's new designs don't excite me as much as their older ones did. I've switched to Magpul for my favorite case, have one for my N5 and have one on order for my iPhone 6. It's highly unlikely they'll make a Moto X case though, unfortunately.

Yeah, UAG only makes cases for the most popular phones. They had actually designed one for the 2013 X but ended up scrapping it. I don't even care about them anymore though, I am in love with Magpul. Google 6p carbon or quartz case

https://store.google.com/product/adopted_case_n6p
looks good.. but for that high of a price for a case, i'm hesitant, because the only cases i've ever bought were for the nexus 7 (both versions) and those either cracked or broke apart with normal wear.
Yeah, it is a touch expensive. I bought the revised official bumper case for my Nexus 5, and it's still in fantastic condition. It was $35 on Google's old store, as well. I got the version with the fatter, actually usable buttons.
I do also have quite a love for Tech21 cases, but I got the one for the Nexus 5 used, so the clear plastic is unfortunately scratched up.
i love the clear plastic look... but i find a lot of them start turning yellowish, did you have that problem?

I'd like to get this case for my black 6P but $35 is s joke, a case shouldn't cost 7% of the price of the device. The case reminds me of the cool Nexus graphics they had on the Galaxy Nexus and the I/O Galaxy Tab 10.
I don't suppose we'll be lucky enough for it to hit Amazon or eBay for less. Maybe there will be China copies soon!

Well UAG cases are usually $40 plus if you don't like it Google is really good about returns so that's why I bit the bullet and bought 2 of their cases. I still have others coming from Verus, and some other no name TPU cases. I want to protect the sexy phone in style because it looks really nice with the microfiber or whatever on the back

I just ordered myself an adopted clear one too because the other one I bought is for my wife. I think I'm good now on cases after getting 8 of them.
I didn't have any issues with it turning yellow. It was actually a hard plastic case, hence the scratches. Apparently toothpaste can buff out scratches, but everyone forgets to mention that you shouldn't use the gel kind, or any toothpaste with flavoring. Who even has plain paste-style toothpaste?
