i have xoom wifi only i root from Xoom One-Click Root/Unroot (3g and Wifi) it work and everything ok i trying 1 hour
after i click unroot 3g but when i rebooted after finishing it is says
failed to boot lnx 0x0004
starting rsd mode 2
now my computer not see xoom
please help what i do now. did i brick my xoom
I relocked my wifi xoom with 3g one click after being told not to 10 times. I think we are screwed until Motorola releases the SBF for WiFi versions of Xoom. I returned mine today and I hope they will take it back. With my research, it looks like you have two options. Wait for Motorola, which I have read on Moto's forum they are releasing it sometime. Or exchange it and wait for the SBF so you wont be back in the same position again when you get your new one.
i have the same problem here.. anyone help pls =(
Is there solution now or in coming days
Now I do not know if the device is brick or not
In the same boat. Was trying to see if it was possible to do a fastboot OEM lock on cleanly ripped boot/system/recovery partitions. Shouldn't have tried. No reason to relic an wifi only Xoom. Now, not even RSD Lite recognizes it. I can only get it to show fastboot mode or RSD mode 2 (not 3).
Your mod screwed the kernel. You need to use an sbf or fastboot images to fix it depending on which mode your device goes.
What the steps i do now

You wait until moto releases sbf. You can't access fastboot so u need sbf to flash. So you either wait for it or you return it and read the whole thread before you jump to flash. The xoom is Dec not noob proof so if you don't know what you are doing you are just gonna get a soft brick or brick. Right noe you have a soft brick.

This is assuming your computer recognizes your Xoom. Mine no longer does. Whether I be in RSD mode 2 or fastboot mode.
I've tried RSD Lite for RSD mode... Doesn't see a thing. Tried "fastboot devices" in fastboot mode and doesn't see it. Hell, I've even tried doing it backwards. Fastboot and adb worked before. That's how I ended up like this...
I think mine's off to Best Buy. I finally found my receipt!
To the OP. In Fastboot mode (hold down button after it powers up/reboots), try running "fastboot devices" first to see if it's picked up. If it is, you can be saved. Omnia had the same issue and we saved his.

Before you wait for the SBF, locate a copy of RSD Lite 4.9 first. Make sure you've got all the Moto USB drivers. Start it in RSD mode 2 (or RSD mode 3 if possible?). If RSD Lite detects it, great. It's just a waiting game.
Someone had to change their config in RSD Lite to fix theirs. They had to do the first-come-first serve in the deviceID option.
now the RSD Lite 4.9 not detects my xoom
now i have RSD Lite 4.9 and have drivers and wait SBF files
and I hope there is a solution soon
That's very good news!!! Hopefully it's not a long wait. You're luckier than I was!
Yeah add one more to the crew. Im just wondering. Even when we get the .sbf How will rsd lite recognize the xoom? wait for a rsd update?
All I know is Moto needs to get ontop of their game and stop putting us on the back burner. They gave us the oppurtunity to unlock this device and do whatever the heck we wanted but they provide no other support or info. I dont think they knew what they were getting themselves into. Ha neither did I

I wouldn't hold my breath. RSD Lite should pick up a non-bricked Xoom. I'd try getting an exchange.
Of course it will pick up a non bricked, but its strange how the bootloader now reads "RSD mode 2" instead of "3". Motorola will have to update RSD it looks like because I cant get anytrhing on the latest 5.0. Chances are they wont even bother.
Would like to return but Im a little past my 14 day warranty.
you might be screwed then. Contact Motorola and see if they can help. Right now, if nothing is reading your Xoom, it's probably a lost cause. It'd probably have to go through the same process before anything was put on it.
I went ahead and sent a repair order online. They send you a box to ship it back to them in and they also ask you to explain what happened to the device in some detail. Hmmm .... noooot sure if i was 100% honest, but i was pretty honest.
had the same problem, i called motorola and have to ship it back to them. good news is my bootloader is locked, it got bricked after the device was oem locked.
They will either fix it which i doubt or send me a new one.
P.S. funny thing is that mine got bricked while i was following the instructions on the motorola site to restore to stock.
Was this SBF ever available? cant seem to find it
There is currently no SBF for Wi-fi only.
Hey guys,
I'm somewhat new to Jailbreaking and Rooting Android Devices. I was working on my rooted 4.0.4 Atrix 2 today and wanted to install JellyBean. My first attempt I used the RSD lite program to install it. Found it I was using the wrong ROM (I'm a noob) and was stuck at the bootloader. Then, I used Wonderful RSD lite to use my fxz I downloaded. I'm pretty sure i downloaded the wrong one, so It flashed and got to step 5 and then gave me a fail. Now the device won't power on and it's either because I went from a soft brick to a hard brick. Or, the battery died. i have the original charging which i'm doing right now. Please help I'm scared ****less.

If you can still get into fastboot mode, then it isn't hardbricked yet. What model is your phone? If it is AT&T branded, DO NOT FLASH IT!! It is for Asian retail, and international phones only.

Yeah, I was able to get it into Fastboot. When I was able to (Past Tense) I tried re-flashing it with RSDLite using a FXZ. But, I believe it was the wrong one and It attempted to flash and got stuck at 5/23 which was the bootloader. And now it won't boot, but I do believe it charges. Just won't turn on at all. It is under warranty

I hate to say this, it looks like you have hard bricked your A2. If it is still under warranty, return it to the vendor and play dumb. Do not tell your vendor that you tried to do a fxz. Good luck.
I am updated on 4.1.2 on my razr maxx hd. I dont know what happen, but I lost root, I use moto chopper 1.1 used matts utility and i still cant get root back. I already have a Super user app on, but every time i try to root with the programs mention above it says its complete then after reboot i open up super user to update binary and it fails.
So anyways I figured well i might as well return to stock to get rid of the original root app and start over fresh.
Well I download the stock version of razr maxx hd rom. I get rid of getvar in the xml file, I open up RSD Lite (newest version) put my phone in fastboot mode. and try to flash back to stock. After I many failed attempts i always get this error
"Failed flashing process. 5/27 flash tz "tz.mbn" -> Phone returned FAIL.
On your phone:
Security downgraded version
update TZ version failed
preflash Validation failed for TZ "
My bootloader is locked never messed with it, I am on 4.1.2 android. I have downloaded all the stock roms and I always get this error
I would use THIS utitlity to flash back to stock. Then I would use that utility to root. Then I would use Voodoo root keeper to backup and disable root. Then I would update. Then I would use Voodoo to restore root. Then I would jump for joy. Then I would go about my life as usual.

Let us know how it goes. Another tip: If you are unable to get it to work, its the drivers. Even if you have downloaded them and installed them before, do it again.
Omg , that totally worked, I did get errors, but just left it alone and it flashed. Only thing thing that didn't work was the unlocked boot loader. But I am fine with that, since I don't flash roms on this phone

I rooted my RAZR HD using the latest Samsung method and got it to root on 4.1.2 build 9.30 but it got sick on the same screen. Happens every time I reboot my phone. I get past this by doing the following from the ap fast boot screen:
Press and hold power and both volume buttons. When phone turns off release power and keep holding both volume buttons. It will boot into recovery. Release volume buttons when this screen appears and wait a few seconds. Phone will boot like normal.
Still trying to search firms to find a reason for this but closest I can come to is either moto drivers or an issue with rooting and build 9.30. Hope this helps!
fix is here .. use option B method it works

Wrong device, wrong forum, and the thread was dead 10 months ago.
Hey everyone so i have a XT926
System version 9.18.79.XT926.Verizon.en.US
Android version 4.1.2
Build 9.8.1Q-79
Boot Mode 10.9B
AP Fastboot flash (device is locked status code 0
So about 6 months ago i tried to root and unlock phone, i rooted fine but messed up on the unlock. And the phone was stuck in boot loop. anyways i was able with help from here on XDA get it out of boot loop and working. My issue is a couple things.
1. Can it be unlocked (i have read and read and dont believe its possible)
2. It wont do a factory hard reset it errors out and just reboots.
3. I try to do the OTA and it just get the android guy with the red triangle and then reboots.
4. when i hold volume up and power and get the factory reset, normal boot etc options, any i select just reboot phone.
I would like to do 1 of the following things. and would prefer 1.:
1. if possible unlock and install custom rom.
2. Do the OTA update and have a fresh install
3. Do a factory wipe and sell phone.
Please any help would be great, as the phone has gotten super slow and i usualy like to do a factory reset every 4-5 months to wipe it.
thanks
#1= not possible on your build. you can only install safestrap roms which are limited and most commonly found over on razr forum.
to clean it up and go back to stock you could either, use rsd to reflash stock, or grab the one click utility from the dev forum to do the same. the one click utility is the easiest of the 2, just be sure to get the build that matches your system version or newer. you can flash the same version or newer only, trying to flash an older version will just result in a boot loop.

Hi, I have a question.
I had a hard time getting any of the utilities to work initially. Booting up was just scrambled and broken. Anyway, I used v1.34 and it's made progress. It worked it's way through writing system and such. Now the phone is stuck on a bootloop. The phone cannot make it passed the red M before rebooting.
When the phone is plugged in and on an inescapable bootloop, is it charging? My battery was hovering above empty before the v1.34 utility brought me here.

Are you rooted? If so, that is why.
Did you freeze or remove any apps? If so, that's another reason why.
In either case, you will have to FXZ back to stock, unrooted to take the OTA. However, you WILL lose root and there is no root exploit for Kit Kat unless you have an unlocked bootloader, which you already found out you can't have based on the version your phone was at (9.18.X). And, there is NO way to carry root over the OTA. Voodoo doesn't work with Kit Kat at all, and there is just no other way to keep root on locked bootloaders, period.
So, either hold off on the Kit Kat update and pray someone finds a way to root it for locked bootloaders, or else if you can't wait, then realize you may never see root on this phone again.

My bad for not realizing that.
Are you still getting the dead Andy screen after applying the OTA? If so, then you need to go back into the recovery as you did before and then apply the OTA again. This is a two-step process, especially if you applied the OTA manually rather than taking it automatically.
It's still waiting to continue the update for the OTA. So, go back into recovery and navigate to where you stored the OTA zip file on your external SD card and then apply it again and you should be good to go.

At that point when it reboots, it should continue on and you should see the android picture again as it continues on installing. This is the second stage of the install and can take up to 15 minutes to complete.
Are you saying it just keeps rebooting at that point and never completes? If so, then you need to go here and follow SamuriHL's directions to the letter to get you up and running -> http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/45494-how-to-xt926-upgrade-to-kitkat-ota/

Were you rooted at any point in time? If so, did you flash back to stock? Just uninstalling root will not work.
Your phone must be completely stock with no evidence of it being modified in order for the OTA to work. Rooting is one thing that will modify it to where an OTA will not take.
I had explained earlier that if you rooted and/or froze/removed any system/stock apps, you must use an FXZ image to put your phone back to stock. The link I supplied you with in that previous post will give you a stock Kit Kat image to flash to your phone. That is what you must do.

the razr utility has been updated since you started this thread, to KK.
just go back to the utility post from before, and you will see the new KK version at the bottom.

Hi there:
I've been following this thread, as I'm in a similar situation. I'm pretty sure I'm stuck with either rooted JB or unrooted KK, but just wanted to confirm.
Here's what I have:
-Phone: Razr HD
-System version: 9.18.94.XT926 (VZW US)
-Android: 4.1.2
-Rooted
-Locked bootloader
I'd love some clarifications/confirmations on the following, if anyone has them:
-There is no way to downgrade the system version to an unlockable version (like 9.16). Not even with flashing back to stock everything with the Droid Razr HD Utility.
-There is currently no way to root KK without an unlocked bootloader.
-If I unroot (flash back to stock) and upgrade, I will lose root and likely not get it back.
-The only way for me to currently keep root is to stay on JB.
I'm not interested in custom ROMs, just root.
Thanks in advance.

As the subject states I have a Roger's Razr HD (XT925) that was GSM unlocked for use here in the US. It was rooted and bootloader unlocked and used for a while without problem. I recently decided to upgrade to a new phone and did a factory reset of the HD in preparation to sell it. It got stuck in boot loop but I was able to boot fine in recovery and everything worked fine. I forgot power it off and the battery drained. When plugged into AC it will not charge. Plug it into a PC and USB connection sounds like it's loading drivers. Device manager shows QHSUSB_DLOAD. Any attempt to boot into recovery mode when plugged in yields a couple green flashes from the LED and that's it. When unplugged, absolutely nothing. I did make a Motorola data adapter and connected the phone to the PC. The green light comes on for a few seconds and then goes out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really need to revive this phone.
QHSUSB_DLOAD is a perma-brick, unfortunately. I haven't seen anyone on here recover from it.

Thanks. I'll check it out.
So I had chance to check out the link and I think the solution to the problem is simpler than that. I know the phone was booting into fastboot when it had a charge. It's possible my DIY factory cable isn't a good one. The RAZR/MAXX/AtrixHD have a simple two pin battery that can charged by opening the case. The battery for the HD has 4 pins however I cannot find the pinout for it. Can any tell me which are the positive and negative? I can cut and hook up an USB cable to them to charge the battery directly and then I should be able to boot the phone and repair the ROM.
Edit: I was able to get my hands on a multimeter and found that the there's 1 positive pin and 3 negative ones?!?!
did you try to leave your xt 925 plugged to pc for little while, then attempt to get it into fastboot?

Yes. I left it overnight.
Well then you cant do jack , i noticed battery stays ok in xt925 while on fastboot but I guess if batty is completely out, it is a different story. You will revive it man, gotta get hold of factory cable or a spare battery
OK... I have been able to charge the battery and can get to fastboot. Now I just the Rogers stock ROM because I thought I had the bootloader unlocked but don't. I found a couple links but the site is dead. The phone boots directly into AP fastboot.

Awesome! Thank you! I'm downloading it now.
I just can't win!!! I tried flashing that ROM with RSDLite 6.1.4 and now I'm getting a security downgrade error. Is there a newer ROM I should be using? I cannot seem to find it if there is.

Comment out TZ/Partition in XML when downgrading and already upgraded device. You're gonna need the tz/partition from a 4.4.2 build and flash those I believe. There's lots of info on this here just don't have it handy to link for you.

I don't find anywhere in the XML that has a tz/partition statement. Being that this is a Canadian device I only had the stock ICS on it.
I thought I had a Rogers RAZR HD after some research I found that I have a Fido one. So, I have to find the Fido ROM
