Transparent System Bar - Android General

I was wondering if anyone has any leads on the development of a transparent systems bar for ICS/JB tablet version. I dont care to hide it, nor change it a different color, but to make it transparent. would be a great feature... think of windows 7 areo 'glass' perhaps.
I did several searches but revealed nothing.

nobody knows?

I dont know of any apps in Google Play although technically possible.

[REQ] Inverse Notification Icon Color (Black Status Bar)

I was wondering if there is a way to reverse icon colors in the status bar. I just downloaded a black status bar and a lot of the icons blend into the black bar (if that makes sense).
If anyone can help me out, thanks. I don't know anything at all about coding and very little about the root process, so a Metamorph option would be the easiest way for me, although I can figure out theming.

I saw those. I wasn't quite sure if it changes the Messaging, Gmail, Voice and other icons since all I see is the USB and USB Tethering icons. Do you know if those are changed?
Haven´t checked that...best, open file and have a look before you morph.

Wow that is a great idea. I never thought of that haha (still brand new to this stuff). Well, unfortunately it doesn't have icons for Messaging, Gmail and a few others. Thanks for the idea though. Now I know I can check.
Any other ideas?
Anyone know of anything else to do?
Shameless bump because I really want this.
There is a desire morph around somewhere, locate the files or images you want and I can make a morph, just need to know what rom and icons.
Also bumping. Now that CM has theming, I think someone should have one out.
Use ninja morph and inverse the images u want in framework-res.apk ...really easy

I checked out ninja morph. You're right, it does exactly what you said...EXCEPT you have to modify every icon individually, which ends up being an enormous pain.
Also, I could have missed something but how do you inverse icons directly on the phone? I looked around and still couldnt find anything. Ended up transfering them to the pc and editing them from there.
In the end, I'm just amazed that android doesn't have a unified icon / theming system yet. To edit messages, you have to go in to mms.apk (took me forever to figure that one out), to edit gmail you have to look in gmail.apk, system icons were in framework, etc. What a pain.

[Q] Possible to make status bar black?

I know the triumph is the new kid on the block and doesn't have a lot of dev or theme work for it yet,but was just wondering if anyone has accomplished making the status bar and pull down black with white lettering? if so... how?
thx
I've tried a couple metamorph themes, as well as an apk I found named GingerBar, all to no avail. Hopefully with CM7 just around the bend we will see black notification bars on our triumphs
I've been trying the same thing. I've tried flashing several metamorph themes and such, even .zip to be installed from recovery. Nothing actually worked. A few metamorph themes just installed indefinitely without finishing. I did a restore from my backup just to make sure there's no damage. I made this thread on HowardForums and someone suggest UOkitchen or whatever it's called lol, but that's seems crazy time consuming. Also, someone posted a screenshot here on XDA in the show your homescreen thread with a modified status bar, might be worth sending him a message asking how, maybe he or she would be willing to help

Yea just go to Droid pirate and use metamorph... who really needs a clock on the status bar anyways? U can theme all the notifications and status bar icons and turn the bar black.
MOTWX435KT
I'm still working on the "white text" half of the conundrum, but in the mean time something like Fancy Widgets should be good enough.
Although a black-bar-white-text theme is something that's a personal goal.
Metamorph makes it easy, but it has a lot more bugs than flashing a theme.

How do you remove the time from the status bar?

I remember before valhalla final that whitehawk included hiding clock in his tweaks app and now it's not available anymore. So how else can you hide the clock?

You know... more info would be great like a simple what rom you're using. Then you might receive some help.
If you using aosp style, valhalla or valhalla black... then go to tweaks in settings and in the clock options you will see how to do it and also many other options.

There are many other options under tweaks?! Who knew?! This is where you didn't really read what I posted. There is no such option to hide or remove the clock like it did before. I'm using valhalla black like it wasn't obvious enough. Can anybody else, preferably a dev, help me with this? Thanks.

Under clock options. Choose Clock Color. You could make the color of your clock black and that way you wouldn't be able to see it and effectively hide it.
I know it's not the same as hiding it where the other icons would slide right to fill the gap. Just a thought I had.

LOL Don't blame it on me. The forum its floded with useless crap and I wasn't trying to be rude but now I am. Why the hell would you want to remove the clock? If you are such a great innovative asker noob then you could just figure out to change color to black since there aren't any more option in any rom to let you deal with that sort of things. Besides that, learn to code and my guess is that you would have to change many stuff from internal to design. Good luck. I hold no grudge against you. Answer w/e you want. I rest my case.

I doubt a developer would be that interested in chiming in on this one... Though have you considered changing the launcher, adw allows you to completely hide the status bar, I know it's not the answer you may be seeking just an option

decompile the apk
/res
/layout
/statusbar.xml
Remove the clock line recompile and flash If that causes issues. U can always just change the clocks dpi to 0 which effectivly hides it. Next time please state which rom you are on ( for anything based on stock this will work..) Themers would have known this one 2

[Q] Hide System Bar on ICS?

Is there a way to hide the system bar?
maybe something like THIS?
+1
Love this idea
Try the link below for the apk........... i havent tried it on ics yet
was just going to post up as an attachment but its not frickin working on the ics browser

it is not working for me
me either - sorry guys
From what I understand, Google pretty much locked it out completely, so it's impossible at the moment to hide the status bar. It's really annoying. :/
From the author of Honeybar: "*** Important note for ICS users: Honeybar is unsupported on ICS and will not hide the UI bar. I have examined the source for ActivityManagerService and it currently appears impossible to stop com.android.systemui"

Damn that sucks. I hope Google changes their mind or someone finds a way around this problem. I find it extremely irritating to use video and reading apps with the system bar at the bottom.
I guess I will stick with Android 3.2 for now.
There's a tweak for the Galaxy Nexus that remove the bottom bar entirely, and the person who posted it says to use ButtonSavior (on the market) to replace the soft keys. The newest AOKP rom also includes a feature to remove the navigation bar which I assume is pretty much the same as the bar on tablets.
The mod is over on RootzWiki, not sure if I can post links to it, or if it will work for the TF or could be adapted for it.
See, it's things like this that make me wonder. Why in the world would google, or anyone, lock things down so much that nobody can change anything? Disabling the status bar in honeycomb didn't do any harm. I never heard a single complaint of a bricked tablet or software problem because of disabling the status bar.
Yes!!!

Where? Searched for "status" "system" "bar" "hide" in varying combinations as well as individually. Could you point me in the right direction. TIA.
From looking around the framework-res etc what i have seen that ICS is based on a theme called holo. Now if we could modify the framework-res and strip the black and make it transparent it should be able to be done. Decompiling it has been no problem however I am too new at themeing to provide any definite answers to recompile framework-res as i have tried but it just will not register as a proper apk. There is one issue with that however, the holo theme is involved with almost everything to do with the system. Example backgrounds for the menu system and the onscreen keyboard and a pile of other stuff plus the assorted icons would still be present back button home apps button clock and wifi.
All the edits were because my cursor diappeared.

It's part of the ROM. They don't appear to have a separate app to hide the system bar, so we have to use the full rom for now. It works the same way pre-ICS Revolver did.

4.4 transparent notification bar...what if you have a light background?

Given all the icons are now white and the notification bar is transparent, what if you have a light/white background? The icons are going to disappear into the background now?
I guess it will be semi-transparent or even customizable

Yes, it would be good if one could also change the color of the icons. I miss that aswell but at least google catches up to iOS on this one and various custom roms that already had this feature months ago,

That's what custom ROMs and themes are for. Who among us on XDA going to buy this device and use it "as is" right out of the box?
It looks to me like there will be a drop shadow to compensate for light backgrounds/icons. I like the transparency idea very much, actually.
This is always a PITA for us developers, assuming we want our apps to stay current with the appearance standards for the new versions of Android as they come out. Basically, I have to supply icons in differing sizes/colors for several versions of Android and in 4 different densities for each. So for a given notification icon, the app will probably contain about 16 icons to cover it all even though only one of them ends up being used on a particular user's device!
I'm waiting now to see if Android 4.4 will specify something different for the main app shortcut icons since it looks like the standard system icons have a new look.

Except that that is ugly, to me at least. You guys should be happy google does not for some reason start to use Comic Sans as the main script.
Comic sans is the most overused, notoriously evil font ever to exist. Even NASA and other institutes have been known to use it.

It's much more subtle than the example above, and it's quite well done. Even Samdung has found a way to do it in the S4. The drop shadow is just enough. Doesn't look ugly at all. It's actually the only pretty thing about Touchwiz, and it didn't arrive until the latest iteration.
