Google's got a lot of awesome stuff going on in Mountain View. After Google Project Glass, Google introduced something new. Today, a new game called "Ingress" was announced and submitted to the Play Store. Ingress appears to be a augmented reality game, giving interaction to your public environment. It has a kind of scary theme, view its trailer over here.
The game is currently in beta-phase, and I haven't been able to test it.
Has anyone tried it already?

I love this kind of plots. I downloaded and installed the app and signed up to get an invite/activation code. I'm waiting for news. If someone was lucky enough to be in the closed Beta group, please share your experiences.
Signed up. Thanks for posting this.
Could be a whole new way to experience gameplay on the mobile device.
Speaking of which, anything new on Google Glass? Especially now that Oakley is pushing their new HUD goggles.
Downloading it, I wonder if it will be available in my area, I'm excited to try this out if I can
This gives me hope for a day where games are actually played, with strangers in downtown areas, socially. AR Gaming will definitely be a new hobby for me. I'm imagining a futuristic paintabal gun with a cell phone attachment to see my friends location, and the flags I have to capture. I signed up for it, but wouldn't it be awkward. Running around with 30 something year olds, unless you're used to it and come from a military background..I'm 20 btw, but I can imagine the age gaps and awkward mom rolling up in a game yelling at her kid to come home and eat..
Anyone have an activation code?

I'm waiting for a beta code too. Ever since I live in a quite small town, I wonder how this project is going to run in less-populair areas.
I can't wait to try it out.

Who can send me an invitation please send
I will be forever grateful

Does any one playing this game all ready..?
I hope google will send me a code
I really hope to get a code. I was a very early g+ adopter and was hoping to get on this early but I have to wait. I might not even get one.
I hope it will be available in Italy and for my Galaxy Ace
Waiting for an activation code. Hope to get it soon!

another great stuff from Google
It sounds to be really nice with Project Glass. Standing around, walking etc. with the Nexus in front of my face? I think that looks not even smart
But i asked für my activation code, even if playing in public would look stupid.
PS: if someone has an invitation code for me, i like! :good: [email protected]
It's great, there is so much more to come for now it's kind of eempty because it's just getting started but I have a feeling it is going to get intense by the end of the month.

Received my code yesterday. So far this game is pretty good.
It really submerges you and now I am walking around the streets feeling like a Secret agent hah.
Somewhat confusing because there is so much to soak in. The concept is simple but the blocks that build it up are much deeper.

Hey everyone,
So about 8 months ago, my friend created this website Knoword Basically, you're given a definition, and the first letter of a word and based on this you have to guess what the word is, time limit included. Point are given for each guess and points lost for each word skip. It's incredibly addicting. The following is taken directly from the site:
Knoword is a game of quick thinking, smart decisions and great words. It focuses on teaching and advocating proper spelling habits, as well as good observational, analytical and typing skills. What makes Knoword different from all the other fun word games out there is that it's actually fun! With its fast-paced, addictive gameplay and a competitive and comprehensive player ranking system , Knoword pushes the limits on contemporary puzzle games and provides its players with a truly rewarding experience.
We got the idea to create an app for it. Well the app has been in the development stage for a month or so now (both iOS and Android) and it should begin the testing stage within the next few weeks, I thought I'd give everyone here a sneak-peak with a couple of screens.

Both screens are from the iOS version but they will be the same for Android (with the exception of the keyboard, I suppose)
Sign-ins will be universal, from iOS to Android to the PC version. I'm incredibly excited for this app. Let me know what you think of the website version and I'll keep this updated once the game is in the testing stages, you'll all be the first to try it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!
I love the game and would buy this for a few dollars.

I couldn't believe how addicting it was the first time I played it.
Just discovered knoword.org and I'm addicted. Extremely jealous of my iPhone buddies who already have the app. I would love for you to hurry, but please take your time to ensure that it all works! Would definitely pay up to $4 for it.
I love it. I have MS and have been looking for some good games to keep my brain going!
any updates for the Android version? Thanks.
Yes the android version is currently beginning development, it was a little delayed. We have a dedicated developer now. If you have an iphone, the app has been officially released in the app store, check it out! Thanks for your continued interest.

Funny that you ask, there is an update! I should be receiving the beta of this app today. I'm told it's basically a copy of the iOS version and they're debating whether to overhaul the UI based on this article . Anyway, as soon as I know whats going on, or at least have the app in hand (see: on phone) I'll fire off an update here.

Alright! My new game has launched! Check it out at the Android marketplace here
So here's the skinny: Tetris Attack meets Bust-a-Move, inasmuch as the clearing and complex combos/chaining function. The gimmick here is that each piece is 2-sided, flippable. You have a lot of control over the gameboard, it gets quite intense once you get used to how it plays.
Here's the other skinny: People don't like to pay for stuff on Android. So we've made this game in two versions: $1.99, and Free. Both are identical, except the Free one has ads (and content unlocks as you play). The kicker? Play the Free version for 10 cumulative hours, and after that not only is all the content unlocked, but the ads will be removed permanently. It will be exactly the same as the $1.99 version. No one has tried this method before, so let's see if it works.
I think those who try this game will have a hard time putting it down, it's done very well on "that other platform" and we have gone to considerable lengths to make this version much more polished. It's quite simple at first, but play for a few minutes and see if you don't get sucked into it as well. Please give it a try and give impressions in this thread - thanks, and enjoy!
That makes sense...after 10 hours, the $1.99 has been (in theory) made up from the advertising (though who ever clicks on those banners, at least intentionally?). Then after the cost of the game was covered by the advertising, why not make it full and legal? Plus you garner customer satisfaction by basically giving away a full game for free. I wish more ad-driven apps would go this route!
Edit: Oh, and grabbing it now, thanks!
Looks good, will give it a try. Nice idea about removing the ads after a certain time played.
Novel concept
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
thanks for checking it out, everyone!
I was initially rather concerned about the negative impact the ad banners would have on the experience (I hate in-game ads.. like, HATE HATE them) but to my surprise when we stuck them in, they didn't hardly register. I think it is to do with the game design as well, you seldom look at the top of the screen in this game (usually focus on middle and bottom because of how it plays) so it really wasn't very distracting to me.
Yeah this is really just a big experiment. I really just want to get my name out there and get some nice download numbers. The only way that can happen is if people like my game (I think it's a very good game, once you get to know it) and people see that and embrace it. I guess I will find out soon enough, eh..!
sounds awesome love the beta never got a chance to reply back definitely will dl this
well, it's been a hectic day. Reddit took to the game and we've been getting a lot of downloads for sure.. a couple other nice articles popped up giving us some decent exposure as well. Wonder what tomorrow will bring
here's a youtube of the original (lower-tech) iPhone version from last year. Starts out pretty easy going but gets quite hairy about 0:25 in

Search Minecraft Pocket on the market and you should see it. I just got it on rooted generic UK 2.3.3.
edit:
From what I can see it's strictly creative mode. Blocks can be destroyed very quickly, but there is no inventory or crafting. Local multiplayer is possible, but joining online servers is impossible.
The usable block list is as follows:
Wood ladder
Torch
2 types of flowers
2 types of mushrooms
Bamboo
Obsidian
Dirt
Coloured Wool
Wood and Stone Steps
Stone half-blocks
Sand
Leaves
Glass
Stone
Cobblestone
Sandstone
Wood
Wood Planks
Diamond Blocks
Bricks
I'm quite deterred to buy the app because it offers so little compared to current Beta. I'm having fun on my local server with several friends and I don't think I want to start another world myself, at least not now since I have to juggle with school.
Also, great news, from what I've read and understood, there's gonna be a Survival in the future updates.
"The first version (Alpha 0.1) will focus on the creative aspects of Minecraft." - that means that other versions will include Survival too.
"Just like the PC/Mac/Linux version of Minecraft we’re planning to continue developing the Pocket Edition for a long time with frequent updates. We are eager to hear what the Minecraft community thinks about our new game and what you all want to see in future updates." - so they want to update this version as much as possible to be in the rhythm with the version for PC.

I've just downloaded it. Version 0.1.Alpha. 5 euro.
Controls:
D-pad: movement: Left and right d-buttons make the character strafe
X- Jump
Square and Circle- Switch blocks
Triangle- Show all blocks
R- lay block
L- Hit with a block? I haven't played Minecraft before, so I don't know. The guy just sways the block as if it was a melee weapon.
The right touchpad allows you to look around.
The controls are a bit tricky to get used to, but after that, it's a piece of cake. The graphics are awesome and there isn't even a bit of lag. Mojang has done a great job!
I bought my copy on the train this morning havent had chance to try it out yet though
Downloaded this morning going to be some great fun, I am going to buy it at somepoint as I assume they will make a survival update so why not buy it now and create some fun stuff while out and about?
Just got my Xperia Play back couple weeks ago and now this has made it all back. All the stupid stuff, I can forgive now.
Seeds are different then desktop but who cares
The game is pretty bland as it is now, it has a few glitches and doesnt really give you much to do but I can imagine it being alot better when its available on all android devices. It would be way more fun to play with my friends
I'm not sure Sony is too happy that they've paid for the exclusive and the game is in alpha state...

Any game TLRtheory recommend has to be good to try!
I tested the game just now, weird the X/[]/O//\ buttons work just fine.
I also noticed that you can select "RELATIVE " in the option for the control mode instead of "D-PAD", that will hide the on-screen dpad and still you can use the PLAY control pad and enjoy more of the screen.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's another compatibility issue.
Like I mentioned before, another game worked like this. PewPew 2 would only work with R800a, not R800x or R800i. Probably just didn't make the controls work for all R800 models.
The developer just updated the game today with quick fix.
That was fast!! I hope that resolve the issue.

Seriously... it's like seeing Japanglese games like Zero Wing in the beginning of the nineties all over again. When will the brainy graphical adventures à la Monkey Island or Grim Fandango take over like they did in the middle nineties?

This game is pretty fun. Works fine with the XPlay controls. I was a little thrown off by the boss after boss after boss kind of thing at first, but it does make for a good mobile game.

Yeah, I think the barriers between independent developers and consumers is very limited especially within the android market/appstore.
It is very easy and convinent for us to rate & write a comment -which only take few minutes- to support the dev or request or complain about something.
I think it is very important feature and very beneficial for everyone within the eco system to take advantage of. Especially for us PLAY owners if we want more support & trust from the developers.
I think I would start a thread in PLAY general forum to discuss it & its long-term benefit. Only if I weren't lazy
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
Buggy games like Bethesda's and Gameloft's are sold by the millions and seldom, if ever, have their bugs fixed. Indie devs do well in listening to their customers, but it's obvious that it's not a key feature for success.

Hi,
I whould like to introduce this community a game that we have been developing for several months.
The Great Fusion is a third person graphic adventure inspired by our childhood’s old classic point and click games. It has been touch optimised for mobile devices.
We have personally spent really great times playing old classic graphic adventure games such as Monkey Island or Day Of The Tentacle. Those funny conversations, the history interaction with other characters… It was a unique and unforgettable experience.
Our first priority has always been to make a funny and alternative game regarding existing and current issues together with an intuitive and fresh interface. The gameplay idea is basically the same than our childhood’s classic graphic adventure games. It's not about being a hero, nor about dominating the world. The Great Fusion throws you into one of the plausible futures that society is unfortunately going straight to. How would you deal with it?
