Alright! My new game has launched! Check it out at the Android marketplace here
So here's the skinny: Tetris Attack meets Bust-a-Move, inasmuch as the clearing and complex combos/chaining function. The gimmick here is that each piece is 2-sided, flippable. You have a lot of control over the gameboard, it gets quite intense once you get used to how it plays.
Here's the other skinny: People don't like to pay for stuff on Android. So we've made this game in two versions: $1.99, and Free. Both are identical, except the Free one has ads (and content unlocks as you play). The kicker? Play the Free version for 10 cumulative hours, and after that not only is all the content unlocked, but the ads will be removed permanently. It will be exactly the same as the $1.99 version. No one has tried this method before, so let's see if it works.
I think those who try this game will have a hard time putting it down, it's done very well on "that other platform" and we have gone to considerable lengths to make this version much more polished. It's quite simple at first, but play for a few minutes and see if you don't get sucked into it as well. Please give it a try and give impressions in this thread - thanks, and enjoy!

That makes sense...after 10 hours, the $1.99 has been (in theory) made up from the advertising (though who ever clicks on those banners, at least intentionally?). Then after the cost of the game was covered by the advertising, why not make it full and legal? Plus you garner customer satisfaction by basically giving away a full game for free. I wish more ad-driven apps would go this route!
Edit: Oh, and grabbing it now, thanks!

Looks good, will give it a try. Nice idea about removing the ads after a certain time played.

Novel concept

thanks for checking it out, everyone!
I was initially rather concerned about the negative impact the ad banners would have on the experience (I hate in-game ads.. like, HATE HATE them) but to my surprise when we stuck them in, they didn't hardly register. I think it is to do with the game design as well, you seldom look at the top of the screen in this game (usually focus on middle and bottom because of how it plays) so it really wasn't very distracting to me.
Yeah this is really just a big experiment. I really just want to get my name out there and get some nice download numbers. The only way that can happen is if people like my game (I think it's a very good game, once you get to know it) and people see that and embrace it. I guess I will find out soon enough, eh..!

sounds awesome love the beta never got a chance to reply back definitely will dl this

well, it's been a hectic day. Reddit took to the game and we've been getting a lot of downloads for sure.. a couple other nice articles popped up giving us some decent exposure as well. Wonder what tomorrow will bring
here's a youtube of the original (lower-tech) iPhone version from last year. Starts out pretty easy going but gets quite hairy about 0:25 in

Display is broken on my mates Samsung I5801, displays everything but the bottom bar, which is just black with the score text overlayed. Game still plays but you can't see what tile is next.

Game Review: Baseball Superstars (2009/2010) - 4/5

Ok guys, I'm going to change things up, and post a review about the Baseball Superstars series of games. They're both a lot of the same, but I prefer the sprite-based style of 2009 to the cell-shaded style of 2010.
Now, before I get started, I just wanted to let you all know, that if you've played Power Pro baseball on SNES or Pawapuro on Nintendo 64, PS2, etc. etc., then you've already know what this game is going to be, because it's damned near a port, which makes a longtime fan of that series like me ecstatic.
Anyways, onto it.
Graphics: The game quite simply has some of the best spriting I've seen on Android, and looks great on HD phones. This is even including things like 16 bit emulators. the colors are rich, and the sprites stay crisp and clear even on bigger screens.
The 2010 version, however, does a good job with it's cell shading, but, it's not as smooth and crisp as other games you'll see with a similar style on this platform. In my opinion, it should have just stuck to sprites.
Controls:This game does a good job with having responsive controls and a simple enough to pick up control system that will attract people who play it casually, but, still has enough options in terms of pitching and the like, that someone who actually wants to have a competitive game will be hooked on it for hours.
Gameplay: Unfortunately, this is a single-player only game, so the fun factor is made or broken by the Computer A.I. Fortunately, this game doesn't disappoint. The computer definitely gives you a good game, and even if you lose, you go out of it feeling like you were out played and not just "the computer was invincible for that one", liek many games are known to do. The computer has the same options of pitching as you do, and the stats affect the team and individual players just like they do yours.
Notable Feature(s):: This game has a good variety of modes. It has exhibition, season, and even a home run derby mode if you just feel like hitting the ball for a while.
Another thing that's cool about this game, is that you can select a power pinch hitter and power pitcher before each game to sub in at will. Each has increased stats, and "special" pitches and hits that they can do (albeit a limited amount of each). What's even more cool is that you can unlock even more of these special characters with points you earn from playing/winning.
My favorite hidden character so far was definitely a rendition of King from Namco's Tekken series.
Overall score - 4/5:
It's an awesome game, with great graphics. As said, I'd recommend purchasing the 2009 version, because the cell-shading of 2010 just doesn't do the game justice in my opinion, but both bring the same fun, arcade-style gameplay to bat!

Good review. Quick question, I played these on the iPhone and they had a career mode that I really enjoyed. You basically controlled one guy, and did all his at bats for the seasons. Is that found on the Android version?
Yes its called mission mode

Have to say this is an awsome game here but dang if it doesn't hang and lock up when starting it 90% of the time now ever since 2.2 has come out.
Pretty frusterating here to read a bunch of people experiencing this issue in the comments for the game and still no fix yet.

Well crap then maybe it has to do with me running Caulkins 1.1 rom on my phone. maybe somin in his rom messes it up. Its not 90% time but its enough to be frustrating.
I kinda doubt its the rom causing it but its possible i guess.
Well evidently its something to do with the BFS kernels as anyones BFS kernel I tried caused the same thing, but when I used the CFS based kernels everything was fine.
Flippin weird.... at least there's an answer to it.

Noogra Nuts [Updated] - New Survival Mode!

Hi All,
I just want to show you a sneak peek of a new game I'm developing for Android,
called "Noogra Nuts".
It works well on both phones and tablets. Although the resolution is not optimized for tablets, it still looks good.
Market link:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bengigi.noogranuts
Watch this video of me playing it on my Transformer:

Let me know what you think about it, any feedback will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

Looks good so far man. I would throw in some power-ups though. Maybe add some multipliers for the score.
Thanks for the feedback.
I'm planing on adding more features, achievements and power-ups,
But it will probably be added on game updates.
Probably it is going to be released today
I'll send a market link once it is published.

It looks nice. I'll definitely give it a whirl .
I've just released the Game:

Oren..Nice one..I shall install it...and Congratulations on your work...You are one of a kind....Good work and keep it up...
Downloaded, installed and played for a little bit and wow!! very good!!! very clean and nice touch on that "quit" botton. Not many app have an "exit or quit" botton so it always stay in memory.
Just tested and, it's fun !
Keep on the good work
It looks like it will suck the life out of me for a while. Niiiice.
Man I wish I could draw like that Maybe you could add birds or objects flying overhead that you can hit with the nuts, and maybe give the nuts sideways trajectory when hitting them, so yo can steer the nuts to the birds.
Please let the app flip with the screen (just flip, not rotate). When I'm charging my TF, I hold it upside down so that the power cable isn't drilling a hole in my stomach.
Nice game and nice graphics. I'm not a fan of tilt-controls and a normal thumb control (or swiping) would be nice (you would probably have to have multiple high score lists).
A combo multiplier would indeed be nice and some power ups could add another dimension. Fe: add one that slows down time or decreases gravity. Or a clock that would give you 5 seconds extra time.
It was quite fun and difficult but after the level ended, my tablet froze and i had to restart it.
CopyCat73,
I did the programming, my younger brother is the artist
I didn't encounter any issues with my tablet, but if it freezes it might be a bug on the OS.
I'll see if I can support flipping, I hope it is not too complicated.
Thanks for a fun game. Very nice design.

Same thing here. Had to hard reset. Fun game though
I'll give you a tip on how to achieve a high score:
For every 8 Nuts you eat, you receive a wave of nuts falling in a diagonal shape.
And every time the wave will be with a higher valued nut, in the following order:
Acorn, Walnut, Macadamia, and the Golden Nut.
The golden nut gives you 100 points every time you crack or eat it, so a wave of them will give you lots of points
Wow...very nice....looks good and fun to play....
Nice job!
Very nice game! I downloaded your other apps too.
Indeed, the game is very playable and the graphics looks just awesome, Your brother definitely have a talent May I ask what kind of software he used? It looks like a vector graphics so presumably Adobe Illustrator?
One more time, great job! Keep it going!
Heh, he said nuts.

Minecraft Pocket Is Out!

Search Minecraft Pocket on the market and you should see it. I just got it on rooted generic UK 2.3.3.
edit:
From what I can see it's strictly creative mode. Blocks can be destroyed very quickly, but there is no inventory or crafting. Local multiplayer is possible, but joining online servers is impossible.
The usable block list is as follows:
Wood ladder
Torch
2 types of flowers
2 types of mushrooms
Bamboo
Obsidian
Dirt
Coloured Wool
Wood and Stone Steps
Stone half-blocks
Sand
Leaves
Glass
Stone
Cobblestone
Sandstone
Wood
Wood Planks
Diamond Blocks
Bricks
I'm quite deterred to buy the app because it offers so little compared to current Beta. I'm having fun on my local server with several friends and I don't think I want to start another world myself, at least not now since I have to juggle with school.
Also, great news, from what I've read and understood, there's gonna be a Survival in the future updates.
"The first version (Alpha 0.1) will focus on the creative aspects of Minecraft." - that means that other versions will include Survival too.
"Just like the PC/Mac/Linux version of Minecraft we’re planning to continue developing the Pocket Edition for a long time with frequent updates. We are eager to hear what the Minecraft community thinks about our new game and what you all want to see in future updates." - so they want to update this version as much as possible to be in the rhythm with the version for PC.

Yup, just like the original game they will surely put out updates quickly.
Mine refuses to open i tap the icon and. NOTHING happens
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
I've just downloaded it. Version 0.1.Alpha. 5 euro.
Controls:
D-pad: movement: Left and right d-buttons make the character strafe
X- Jump
Square and Circle- Switch blocks
Triangle- Show all blocks
R- lay block
L- Hit with a block? I haven't played Minecraft before, so I don't know. The guy just sways the block as if it was a melee weapon.
The right touchpad allows you to look around.
The controls are a bit tricky to get used to, but after that, it's a piece of cake. The graphics are awesome and there isn't even a bit of lag. Mojang has done a great job!
I bought my copy on the train this morning havent had chance to try it out yet though
Downloaded this morning going to be some great fun, I am going to buy it at somepoint as I assume they will make a survival update so why not buy it now and create some fun stuff while out and about?
Just got my Xperia Play back couple weeks ago and now this has made it all back. All the stupid stuff, I can forgive now.
Seeds are different then desktop but who cares
The game is pretty bland as it is now, it has a few glitches and doesnt really give you much to do but I can imagine it being alot better when its available on all android devices. It would be way more fun to play with my friends
I'm not sure Sony is too happy that they've paid for the exclusive and the game is in alpha state...

[Game][Free][2.1+] BashModo!!

Hello fellow XDA members! I have just released a new game onto the Android Market called BashModo. It is a relatively simple game with minimalist graphics, but I figured some people might get a kick out of it.

The object of the game is to see how far you can go up the wave/set ladder. You shoot lasers at enemies, but you have to dodge the black enemies. Very simple, but I think it turned out quite fun.
Theme chooser has been added. Pick your own color scheme for the game!
I have developed applications for Android before. I am actually the developer of Prox which had its 15 minutes of fame last year. That being said, I am very new to game programming. I wanted to create something very simple and fun in order to get my feet wet in this field. It was definitely different but I think it was a good exercise. Hopefully, some of my more grand ideas can come into fruition...be on the lookout
Let me know what you think and be sure to leave some ideas on how to spice it up a bit. I hope you enjoy BashModo
Reserved for updates...
1.0: Initial release
1.1: Added theme option to enable user to pick color palette of the game, Fixed potential battery drain bug, and fixed some gameplay bugs
This game is pretty fun. It's a nice little time killer. You should make the back button go to the title screen instead of close the game. And maybe add in a kill streak, like how many green ones you've killed before hitting a black one. Small little tweaks like that. Great game though, especially for your first one

About the back button: I figured if people want out of the game, they should just be able to hit back and go back. I really dislike games that take 5 steps to back out. The way the game saves, its not really an issue. They can just pick up right where they left off...
BashModo has been updated! There is now a theme chooser. I haven't seen many games do this so Undecided to give it a go. Tell me what you think! You can check the post after OP for revisions

[GAME][2.3+] Sunset Manager - First ever sunset simulator?

Instructions:
Use the RGB sliders to change the color of the sun. Match the color of the sun with the sea before it dips below the horizon. A bad match will fill the bar. A good match will earn you a star that can be used to reduce the bar. A very good match will earn you a clock that can be used to freeze time for a few sec. See how many sunsets you can survive without completely filling the bar. (there's a leaderboard for it) That's pretty much it!
Give it a go if you like weird new games. It would be extremely cool if you would like to try it and send us your comments!
Cheers!

I like the art style. I'm not sure how much longevity it has, but it's an interesting idea.

Hey VIKINGSS,
Thanks! Yeah I'm aware, longevity is a bit of a problem for this game... it's a bit of an experiment while taking a break from our "real" project so we'll see.
Sure thing, any help spreading the word is appreciated. Short URL to game: https://goo.gl/wLXpa1 Twitter: @papaquark.... the #indiedev hashtag is pretty good I think, usually gets you a few RT's
Let me know if I can return the favour!

As for the main text I'd like to see what you can come up with. I certainly have no idea what to write anymore to get people interested....
Really cool idea, I managed to get 3 stars at once!
One thing I found was that you can lose very quickly even when you almost have a match. Maybe increase the mistake threshold or decrease the amount the bar fills up based on how close you were to the match.
Regardless definitely a fun game to play. I like the facts too!

Thanks dragosoft! I see your point... I guess after play testing it loads oureselves we've gained a pretty keen eye for subtle variations when mixing RGB colors will consider less penalty in the beginning and then increase gradually maybe?
