Random reboots with MIUI JellyBean (stickman) ROM - HTC Sensation

I am running stickman's MIUI jellybean rom, which is excellent except for a couple of times a day the phone spontaneously reboots but only gets as far as the MIUI logo. I am running 3.32 firmware, the recommended being 3.33 so I figured I'd update the firmware.
My phone is S-ON, which I understand means I need the Vodafone firmware. Is there a Vodafone 3.33 I can download?
I understand the only way to S-OFF with my current firmware involves sticking wires in my phone, which I am reluctant to do.
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
You cannot change your firmware or radio if you are s-on.
Running a RUU which does not match your current settings, will also fail.
S-off is the only way.
The only differences between 3.32 and 3.33 firmware is the radio.
I am not sure how that would cause rebooting.
Have you checked your battery?
Does it sit snugly in it's housing?
Maybe reflash the ROM.
Could be a rogue app...

Rzr86 no I wasn't aware of that. The section about adding my cid to the android-info.txt looks very interesting and if I do decide to upgrade to 3.33 I will give it a try.
Regarding the reboot itself, I have experienced the loose battery situation before, and the phone actually switches itself off. What happens in my case now is that the phone looks like it's rebooting but just displays the MIUI logo and gets no further. It gets warm, which makes me think there's something spinning.
I don't get a /proc/last_kmsg, and there's nothing in dontpanic. I have tried having a 'cat /proc/kmsg > /sdcard/somefile' on in the background. It does not show anything like' shutting down' or similar. There are a lot of traces 'sdc3_p_clock stuck on' but they appear all thru the file, not just at the end, so I don't know if I can say they are the cause.
I also tried re flashing the stock 3.32 kernel, but this wasn't a great idea as I lost wifi and usb sd card access.
Thanks for any help.

I am using fw 3.33 with stickmans miui ROM. I get the same random reboots. I have no idea how to figure out what is causing it.

Well what I have tried so far is:
. Not tuning the processor down to 192Mhz as I read on these forums that could be a factor in reboots.
. The aforementioned sending kernel messages to a file
. A similar trick with logcat (i e having it log to a file in a terminal).
It's not the reboot I mind so much as the fact that it doesn't reboot fully and I need to pull the battery to get it back.
When I get my 10 posts I'll post the question to the MIUI ROM thread and will doubtless get an answer there.

I haven't read anything about underclocking causing reboots. I had my phone OC to 1600Mhz and thought that might be causing my reboots. So i went back to 1200Mhz and still got a reboot. And yes it wouldnt be so bad if it did actually reboot instead of hang at the MIUI logo.
Let me know if you get anywhere with this.

So last week I installed the 11.16 build and I haven't had the 'stuck at Mi logo' boot since. There are a few other funnies with this ROM though so I probably won't stick with it for that long.
I noticed that this ROM had a different (Tamcore) kernel than the others. Maybe this is why I am not getting the same reboots?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app

Bah. Found my phone stuck at the MIUI logo this morning and needed a battery pull.
At least it was over a week before one of these this time, not 2x/day.
Will try a newer build and see how that goes.

Well I tried the Sense-o-Maniac 2.3.5 sense 3.5 rom and I didn't really like it I guess cause I didn't notice anything different. Other than some bloat removed and beats audio which I loved! But I watched my phone go from 100% to 95% in 10 minutes of just listening to music....Dont Know why though....I would like to know what are the best roms that any of you can advise me to try that is good on battery life and get quite a differnet kick out of it if that makes sense
I haven't tried a Sense ROM if you're looking for that. CM7 is pretty different from any sort of Sense ROM but people have some mixed reviews on the battery life. It's been ok to pretty good for me, but I have an extended battery and I underclock/undervolt and use a custom kernel.
You could try Leedroid 4.0. Works great MIUI is awesome too. I personally use kernels from Faux but you could use stock kernels or kernels from Bricked too.

HTC DESIRE S stuck at HTC White screen after flash Plese help!

Hi all,
I just tried flashing miui 2.4.20 to an HTC DESIRE S.
1)Before doing so, I unlocked the bootloader using HTC Dev tool
2)Rooted using superclick tool
3)Installed CWM Recovery using fastboot
and then flashed the rom....it won't go any further than the white HTC screen on reboot even though it looks like the flash is successful. I tried reflashing several times with no luck can someone please help?
EDIT:Just realised that I had to flash the boot.img using fastboot...problem solved.
Is there a way to make the Desire S completely unlocked so that I can flash using cwm without the need of fastboot?

Yes. You need to downgrade your hboot, there are guides for this in the general section, you'll need to find a compatible ruu, get back to stock rom and then use revolutionary to S-Off

I have flashed many devices(Desire, Desire S, HD2, HD and One X) a hundred of times because I am a beta tester. So I know the ins and outs of flashing. But this time I need your help guys.
I have unlocked my Desire S (Hboot is 2.00.0002, S-ON, Radio 3822.10.50.24_M)
flashed TWRP recovery
flashed Viper Saga 2.1.3 JB
flashed boot.img
And the Rom booted and installed. All fine so far.
Now I want to install a different ROM.
Flashed the new PACman JB_2.2_v22 ROM, and boot.img. But this time I got stuck at white screen. So I tried CWM recovery and even 4EXT. Flashed Rom and its boot.img again. No luck. Stuck at white screen every time.
But now the weirdest. At the end I flashed TWRP recovery, Viper Rom and its boot.img again. And damn, I'm stuck at the white screen again.
Also weird is that I am not able to flash an official RUU after unlocking the bootloader again. When plugging in the device I can start the RUU installation proces. But during the sending firmware proces, the phone screen remains black with HTC on it for hours. So I had to remove the cable and boot the phone into bootloader again.
It looks like something is blocking these two processes.
Any ideas? I searched through XDA and on the internet. The only thing I can find to solve the white screen with green HTC is flashing boot.img. But that is not the issue.
The problem and sollution with the RUU installation, I haven't seen at all yet.
Hope somebody could point me in the right direction.

To flash an ruu you need to lock your bootloader. As for the other issue do you know what panel your phone has, it's not an issue on sense roms and only becomes apparent in jb roms. Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943524

Thanks for your reply.
Yes I've locked my phone again before installing the RUU. Made no sense. I've tried 2 WWE RUUs both with the same issue.
What panel I have I really don't know. Viper is sense. Worked om first flash. But after flashing PACman, the boot issues started. Now even Viper is not booting anymore.
I check the thread you posted. Will try the kernels. See what is happening.
EDIT: flashing these kernels do not work, because I'm S-ON. Need boot.image.

I'd start fresh, make sure your unlocked, check the drivers are installed correctly (are you on win 8, if so check post two of link in my sig) format all but sd in 4ext, flash rom (sense rom to start) flash kernel. [Help] Wifi Problem

I've been using my HTC Sensation XE for almost a year now and since the OTA update to 4.0.3, the wifi gets stuck at 'Turning Wi-Fi on..' and ends up with an error or just gets stuck there.
So I'm using precious data to access the internet.
I've tried all the fixes I could find on these forums like using Wifix, S-OFF, rooting and flashing a custom rom, flashing the boot.img, flashing a custom kernel on a custom rom and even trying firmwares 3.33/3.32 but to no avail
I've attached the logcat and dmesg in a zip file if it helps
Right now my phone is on-
ARHD 6.8
faux kernel
Firmware 3.33 universal by Kohr-Ah
Could someone help out please? This problem has been plaguing me for almost half a year now reading through all the threads in this forum.

Hi,
If you are still s-off,you could try to run a GB RUU.
This will put you back to stock everything.(i.e. where you were before the OTA update)
If your wifi still does not work, then it could be an hardware problem.

The same problem here. Look what I find:
"Well guys...gooood news. My phone is solved now. All functions are up and ready to be used
Like many others from here, guess what...it was a hardware problem
But what was the explanation for that it's amazing. How this problem come to our phones..
When we make ICS upgrade, all drivers from OS are upgraded. That's good... usually. But not for all devices.
Some devices, don't get propers drivers, and when they arе tring to run wifi..bluetooth or fm radio ( what's running on b4329 chip ), don't run proper and final result it's a fired chipset
That was explanation from gsm service
If they lie, i lie to. Don't blame me
Good luck guys at chipset cooking"
Hope I was helpful. :good:

New to Inspire

Hey guys, I just picked up a Inspire as a play toy since my cousin upgraded.. What in looking for is a RUU for the latest update if there is any.. 2.3.5, firmware 3.20 if I'm not mistaken. (Its not in front of me at the moment).. I've tried numerous sites and it seems as though they don't exist anymore..
Quick history, phone worked fine. Bone stock, never rooted or unlocked. So she took the latest update, and ever since then it has problems... Main thing is when the screen goes black, it reboots. EVERY SINGLE TIME. So I decided to unlock via htcdev, fastbooted twrp 2.4.4.0, and flashed a rom to see if it fixed it. Flashed jellytime and respective gapps, no dice. Phone is still rebooting upon locking. Last resort is a ruu... I've tried over clocking, overvolting, etc... No go. I'm not ruling out hardware 100%, but bc it didn't do this before the update makes it last on my list... Any advice?

Hey thanks man. I'll give that a shot .
One more question, if I flash the stock lower firmware zip, would that be enough to run the aahk to s-off? Or is there more to it than that? Last time I tried it said the firmware was not supported up to that version

I wouldn't recommend flashing a lower firmware.... Not sure if anything bad will happen but it does not seem like a good idea. Besides, aahk has been retired. There is no support for it and it is only for advanced users.
You can try glevitans tool in the development section to unlock your bootloader but he two has left these forums due to too many self rightious (or however you spell that) noobs.

Hopefully someone could give a few more opinions before I throw this thing in the trash can... I'm still having the reboot issue... I can use it for hours on end as long as the screen is on. It will stay on if its connected to any power source... But when its not plugged in and the screen locks it reboots about 3 seconds later...
Didn't do this before I took the 2.35 ota.. I've tried 15 different ROMs, different kernels, I tried overclocking and trying to get rid of deep sleep. Don't know what else to do. I'd love to try to raise the voltage but every kernel/ROM I use doesn't give me that option.
Also I'd like to mention when I boot into bootloader it immediately searches for pd98img.zip. is this normal? I never seen another boot loader look for a certain file..
Anyway, any help will be appreciated... I'd hate to get rid of this phone if its fixable...

This is the bootloader

I can't give you any other advice to the first problems you had but yes when you boot into hboot. It automatically searches for a pd98img.zip.. That is completely normal

Sensation WiFi and Bluetooth issue

Alright here's the issue...
Ok so my brother had my rooted HTC SENSATION S-ON with CM9, and he was longboarding and txting (bad combination...). As it results, obviously, he fell and desintegrated the screen, but the phone was fully functional before. Couple of months after the incident, before fixing it, i took it out of the drawer i had it put away and turned it on, and earlier that day i had found a very stable cm10.1 rom for it so i went ahead and installed it because wifi and bluetooth was functional on it. After i do so, i try to turn my wifi on in the innitial Google log on and on the screen it said "Turning WiFi on." and i waited about half an hour and nothing, so i skipped it. When i went into the settings app i tried turning bluetooth on and the switch went back to off instantly. And i went online and did research and saw a guy that just pulled the bluetooth and wifi connectors for the antenna up so they would actually work, and i tried it, but no luck... I also tried flashing the boot.img for the current rom, but also didnt work. So i thought it might have been the rom since it wasnt fully stable yet, so i did a full wipe and re-flashed the currnet rom and re-flashed the boot.img but no luck. So i downloaded a stable release of cm9 and did full wipe and installed the boot.img for that version of cm9, but yet again no luck... So i re-installed the cm10.1 Albinoman build and lived on 4G so far... i need help on re-enabling bluetooth and wifi....plz help im desperate
P.S. I think this might have to do with the incident of the screen, but i dont think its hardware related...anyways im going to have the screen replaced this monday, so wish me luck
Try formatting all the partitions except for SD card and then reflash the ROM.

tried that already
Which recovery do you have? If you don't have 4EXT, you need to get flash it, otherwise, you need to s-off your phone

Yea i got 4EXT and i always use smartflash when flashing anything at all
Hmmm... what is your radio version and hboot version number? Try to obtain s-off, and then flash firmware 3.33(i think it has a different radio that might fix your problem)
Also, make sure that you s-off before flashing 3.33 from bootloader.

I cant read the version due to the dead chunks on the screen but i should have it fixed in a couple of days. I preffer not trying to s-off since i find that too complicated, but in case i had to do so, would i have to do a full wipe?
No, a full wipe is not required for s-off.
You can go to "about phone" in the settings to find out about your radio version. It should be the baseband numbers/letters.
Also, which kernel do you have? Flashing another kernel might solve the problem.
Try flashing this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36216263

i took it to get fixed and they fixed the screen and tried to fix this issue but couldnt and told me
it was a motherboard issue and that it was broken, but i highly doubt it because everything else works
perfectly fine, although i tried the kernel (Sultan) and it didnt work...still got that same issue
Well, did you get s-off on your phone? I think the only way is to fix your radio (flash 3.33) but you need s-off for that... Other than that, I have no idea.
BTW, did you try stock ICS before? If yes, how did it go?

hi, didn't see anywhere that you mention your android version, if it is 4.2.X, don't try to turn the WiFi on, rather go to advanced WiFi settings and select a region code in there, whatever you liked. but in case it is 4.1.X then Install WiFix Manager while WiFi is off, and reboot your phone.
good luck. :good:

I did try stock ics, even resetting the phone to stock but no luck. Though i might not want to s-off, finding
that the process is pretty complicated, i yet do not have the knowledge to understand.
