My tablet started shyly nagging me yesterday that there might be an OTA update. But it was downloadus interuptis many, many times before I finally went to bed with fond hopes for the morning.
Four hours after waking up, it finally had a successful download and invited me to install & reboot.
Does anyone know what this update is all about? Bug fixes and stability? New features?
Wi-Fi stability fix, as other users have been reporting

It took a while to download and rebooted once. What was it?
Look under Settings>About Phone>Software Information>Software number and let us know what version it reads. Also, are you on the stock software or were you rooted with a custom rom?

i'm sure this isn't everything in the package.
That is the update that was rolled out on 07/08. The main point of this update was to fix the random reboot issue that plagued a large number of Thunderbolt owners. There were some other minor improvements, such as the option to turn off 4G. Enjoy this update, as the next one (Gingerbread) is still a mystery as to when it will come.

Froyo update... more stability to prevent random restarts and a lot more junk apps that VZW is pushing on up
Its the MR2 update. When I first got it I thought it was gingerbread.... only to have my hopes squashed...

How about actually helping out someone with your posts and then you would be productive. Or go to the xda general section and complain about it to get your posts up.

I have been trolling these forums for days waiting for the official chimera release only to find that the thread has been updated and I missed the initial release due to a bug. Not a problem but am I missing something or is there a new and improved download at this point. If there is one please let me know where to get it. I only ask because I see people post that they are running it after trying various fixes
Thanks in advance

First off, mandatory comment about asking questions in the wrong forum.
Secondly, I wouldn't expect anything to be released until asus officially releases the update file and/or source code on their website.

I was curious as well. I have the ASuS nag screen coming up saying I have downloaded it and asking me to update. Says Flash and WIFI Direct are not supported and that would probably be a deal killer for me. I would like to know the impact on my root access and pending flash.

As far as meeting your correct forum standards, I have a ROM pending install from this thread and would want to know the effect of this update on installation.
As far as expecting anything I would say that test has been met in that it came across as an update from ASUS. You might not have seen that depending on the ROM you are on, so could you please lighten up? It is a valid question and it does have an impact on development, and JB rom issues that seem to abound. Perhaps there are some fixes in this.
If you want a custom rom within 24 hours of the official jellybean release, make one yourself.
Of course there will be custom rom coming out soon.....
I pulled in JB this morning, trying to figure out how to get to Google Now.

This may come across as rude, but I was just pointing out the site rules. Development is for things that someone has created not for questions in general. As for it affecting your ROM pending install, I'd like to point out that you installing a ROM is not development.
As for Asus releasing the update, they have released the update ota. This ota does not come to anyone with an unlocked device, and it does not change the fact that the latest released source code/ota available from asus(from the website not ota) is for 9.4.3.30. In my opinion there should not be an expectation of a stock based rom released before asus has released it on their site due to the fact that anyone with an unlocked device doesn't have access to it.
So I have been reading alot of post saying that the OTA is released in Asia. So I have an AT&T A2 from the US that's rooted and has cheesecake installed. Is there anything that I need to do to have a successful update? I'm on 2.3.6 right now and as far as I know I haven't changed any of my system files, other than how I look for updates.

Good sir, there are MANY posts on how to get your A2 on ICS. We officially have three ICS leaks for this phone.
Only ONE of which you can roll back to GB with. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779968
And please, from now on use the search bar and search for your answers before posting a new thread.

And yet another ICS Thread. I sense the same when JB leaks roll out.
Ok folks, use the search button and you shall be rewarded. I know people can be cautious when jumping to another OS, but there's no need to start new threads for things that have already been covered. Just post your issues in the current threads, and they will get answered.
So, thread closed.

Hello;
Been a cleanrom 7 user for the longest time on my Sammy III, I updated to 8.1 and since then ive been having what looks to be a random reboot, the phone will softboot 2-3 times a day at various times, never when im on it, I have flashed twice with two different downloads and done a full wipe.
I have seen a gapps process crash msg a couple of times
I do use Titanium backup to restore Data only, but Ive also tried it without it and the normal Google OTA restore.
Any ideas on what I can try/look for? Any logs I can read on the phone that might help me
thx!
Post this in the respective ROM thread please. People in that thread will answer your question a lot quicker.
