so I got my tf300 updated to jellybean and installed nova because it was sluggish. so I wanted to put some widgets out to the desktop and I had no problem. went into settings and saw that the app has root permission. how is that possible?

Download root checker to see if you truly have root permissions. If you do, then it would seem you got a used, rooted device.

If you have installed Super Su or SuperUser, when you want to open an apk which is need root rights (as Titanium Backup for example), you will see a notification as Pop-Up.
If you have it, check it.
And you can used Root checker (via Play Store) for confirm your root
"Sorry! This device does not have proper roof access"
So what? How do I have root access on nova?
And the tablet was brand new everything had the plastic foil on and stuff

It's so simple.
You want root rights, but you are not root. YOU CAN'T
You are in JB bootloader apparently, if you want root rights, you must doing:
UNLOCK your device
FLASH a recovery
ROOT your device
and finally, you will have root rights for your app

evidently nova is lying about root...
This is an old option, on ICS 3-rd launcher don't have permissions to add a widget from the drawer, this is why he needs root, on JB this problem is fixed, so the launchers don't need root to add this widget, maybe the Nova developers forget to rename the option right.

So I'm running CM 7.1 stable with Matr1x 8.0 cfs and I went to turn on my tethering yesterday and I got a toast notification saying I was unable to start tethering due to an inability to gain root access. As of a few minutes ago, I am unable to gain root access with titanium backup, wireless tether, or the terminal emulator.
Has anyone ever seen something like this, or know what may be wrong?
Thanks in advance

I tried updating from within SU and the prompt showed up, I accepted, and I got a toast saying that Superuser had been granted SU permissions. Then the update failed from lack of root privileges. Titanium Backup and the terminal are still not able to gain access

I already tried that. No dice.
I have a NOOK Tablet which is, for all intents and purposes, rooted. I've been able to do everything on it you would expect a rooted tablet to do. I tried to change my build.prop today to gain access to some different apps in the market, and I've gotten errors from every app I tried (two apps called "build.prop editor" and "es file explorer) saying that I don't have root access. All apps have been given superuser permission, and my root is toggled on in voodoo? Any ideas? I really don't think it's a bad root. Thanks.
I assume your still running stock firmware or 2.2? Just flash a new rom and gapps them you should be good, if you are running 2.2 then you options are very limited

Why do I keep getting this message???
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
I started getting this a bunch earlier today. Phone was incredibly sluggish when this was happening. It took multiple reboots before it stopped and phone started acting like normal
I'm getting the same message quite often running SynergyROM 1.6. Not sure what's causing it.

My GF is on stock (but rooted) and will once in a while get that too... I never do though on Synergy, unless of course I'm trying to access something that needs root.
It has something to do with the superuser binary 3.1.1
Keep superuser installed, download SuperSU from the play store and upon opening it youll get a prompt to update the binary. Do that, uninstall superuser and no more popups, just use supersu instead of superuser from now on.

He does mean literally uninstall superuser. SuperSU and Superuser are both apps used to manage root, they function just about the same. Before you go through the hassle, try updating the binary on Superuser. Open the app, flick to the right to info, click on the third option 'su binary'. The click update on the bottom. I
Or if you just want the messages gone, simply turn off notifications.

Do not un-install until after you install supersu. Run that first to give it permissions and to allow it to update. After that you can go into root explorer and delete superuser from the system/apps folder.

Im getting also on a rooted galaxy note but ive not flashed a rom or anything. Just rooted last night but mine seems to hang and then i get the msg. Should i try the same thing that was sugessted? Its kinda annoying
Don't worry about uninstalling Superuser. It's not the actual su binary in linux, it's just a management utility for storing root permissions. You'll keep your root.

This. But you can't keep them both, otherwise they *may* conflict.

Ive installer superSU and updated bianary and still getting this error. Its keeping me from using my keyboard and fcing applications left and right! Its so annoying.
I've also had this issue, and though it seems to have gotten better after a reboot... We'll see if it comes back. I had the same problems with keyboard not appearing and TW FCing along with the phone freezing up. I'm currently on stock rooted using the windows fsdebug app.

Hello,
I've been looking everywhere, and for some time to find a resolution to this issue that I could understand. I have a Samsung Galexy S3 that I've rooted. It has no changes, I only got it to use GameGuardian. While in games, the toast will pop up 3-6 times and then the game will shut down and I'll be back at my menu page. If I reopen the game it works normally. This happens whether or not GameGuardian is running. I am using superuser and have updated the binary. I have also found a post where someone changed to SuperSU and that has not solved the problem for them, but I have not tried this for myself. I'm looking for suggestions on what to do next. Also, I'm not very savvy, so please don't assume I know all the in-between steps. Leave anything out on the assumption that I should know it, and I'm going to get lost.
Thanks much
I just finished following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668173 guide.
I have the SU app, but when i check for SU it says i do not have it.
I can view the Root Dir.
Any thoughts?
Try to cold restart the tablet and when you are back online install root checker thats for free in the market. me myzelf had to reboot twice before i realy got all the root acces on my tablet.
Can you elaborate on what a cold restart is?
I booted my device down twice.
When running Root Checker i have the output of " Sorry! This device does not have proper root access."
I was helping with this device and the rooting methods seemed kind of out of line to me. I was surprised when it came back online and had super user, Then we downloaded root checker and titanium backup and got the no root error. We've made a few reboots and even retired flashing the zip file. Not sure where to go from here.
What does ota root keeper say? Load that up and launch it. You should have 5 checks. Any missing is A problem.

Sounds like you are half-rooted. I assume you are unlocked running stock jb? If so have you used this guide? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30516010
Following step 3 is what solved the half-root for me.

Getting close.
I used the file they provided to recover from and close but no cigar!
The only option that is not checked now is "Protected su copy available".
Seems like something could be missing, I followed the guide you linked verbatim.

If that's the only one you should be good. Use root checker to verify. To enable that protected su, use ota root keeper to make a backup. Should be a button for it.

Alternative Fix
It seems like you fixed your problem, but I have an alternate solution that might work for anyone else that might stumble on this post. This sounds like a problem I had, commonly referred to as a half root, and just fixed without having to unlock or change the recovery; all it takes is pushing a file via adb and a few other lines of adb shell commands. The fix I found was on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30522201&postcount=118. Follow the long code section at the end and you should be back to root goodness (or better than it was to start, in my case). If you have problems feel free to reply or message.
I did resolve it and forgot to post. I'd like to thank you guys for the help though. This was my first post and the community seems very mature and professional. Is there any apps (also roms) rooted/normal that you would suggest for the TF300T? Thanks again for your time
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T
I installed a new rom TrickDroid, and after flashing, and successfully booting up, I could not access certain things that require a rooted phone; so I ran root checker again, and it said I had NO ROOT ACCESS.
I restored my phone to the previous ROM, and all was ok..... wth? I think I had this happen to me when I installed SlimRom, but I was able to find a "Root Access" option in "Developer Options" that allowed me to tick on, root for adb and apps.
I know I'm missing it, and its right in front of me.
Just make a flashable zip of the super user app and binaries and flash it
