Zagg Invisible Shield on the way - Nexus 4 Accessories

It seems as though the Zagg invisible shield for our soon to be Nexus 4's is on the way
I've used them before and thought they were pretty good, but a bit of an orange peel effect for me, but did it's job of protecting my gs2 very well.
This is a very reputable site here in Denmark, I get quite a bit of stuff here - I was surprised as it is not listed on the official Zagg website yet but they have both a full body cover and a screen cover for sale right now.
http://www.dustinhome.dk/product/50...lg-e960-nexus-4-full-body/?s=c#intcmp=con_sel
Obviously people outside of Denmark can't buy it but thought that people might be interested in knowing that an Invisible shield will be available soon

They are practically a big piece of colorless orange peel.....

I had zagg on my old blackberry. I ran over it with my car and completely destroyed the device. When I peeled back the zagg, the screen was in pristine condition. That sold me on zagg's ability to protect the screen.
Unfortunately, the tackiness and orange peel really detracts from enjoying the screen. Once you have used screen protectors like SGP, you will never use zagg again.

I hate this screen protector. It feels like I put it on backwards. I'm trying to use the swipe typing on the nexus 7 but it's a real chore.

The last Zagg I used from years ago was quite bad.
Hate the rubbery feeling and it's not smooth at all.

Ugh, I'd rather use peanut butter as a screen protector

Screen protectors, which ones are the best?

So i have the two pack from Tmobile that they sold me comes with anti-smudge ones, but they are getting scratched up rather quick, are there any more scratch resistant protectors or @ 2/$15 are these good?
I use Invisable Shield by Zagg and its sweet, touch works the same after its on, i think it helps glare from the sun but maybe thats just me. But make sure you read the instructions, make sure its placed just right the first time, if you take it off and try to place it again after it sets the first time its gonna be super hard to place it just right again, good luck on that one... but overall i think its an awesome protector, it has a lifetime guarantee too!
I'm currently using the Skinomi screen protector, and it works perfectly. No finger drag when using the screen, and they have a lifetime warranty. To test this, I emailed them and said that my screen protector already have a huge noticeable scratch on it, and they just asked for my shipping information and sent me a completely new package! Wonderful customer service, I recommend it.

Yep, rockin the Skinomi as well. It's excellent.
There are so many available! I like Zagg, but I hate that they charge $5 for a replacement, and they peel mad fast!
I use best skins ever and would never use anything else. They don't peel easy, don't charge a lot for shipping, are pretty cheap, and pretty scratch resistant. Kept my Nexus One in perfect condition from day one.
I have Zaggs Invisible shield on my Z. Very durable(it will most likely outlast the phone itself). Maby a little pricey if you compare it to the cheap ones, but in the other hand the phone is quite expensive too. Fitting the is easy as long as you follow the insructions.
I have a Zagg one on my Z like some others here. I had one on my G1 from day 1 as well, and it is still on it and scratch free. The varnish is peeling off all over the rest of the phone, but the screen is perfect. It is a shame they charge so much, but it is worth the money. I had the peeling problem with the body of my G1, but the screen stayed on just fine, so I just bought the screen protector for the Z.
I used Zagg in the past on many different devices and it is a great product. Protection is top notch but for touch screen devices, the protector is a little thick for my tastes. Don't like the way my finger 'drags' on the screen with the ZAGG.
Currently have the Skinomi on my DZ. Works excellent. Same amount of protection, a little thinner and the touch feel is great. Can't even tell that there is a protector on the screen. Lifetime warranty, haven't had to use it yet. After 3+ months still looks the same as the day I installed it. Highly recommend.
I started with a Zagg full body... hated the way it felt on the screen.
Replaced it with a Skinomi, it feels great but it's got pretty scratched up in the month and a bit I've had it installed.
I have a Clairvue sitting around here which I'll stick on once the Skinomi scratches start to annoy me... will report back then.

+1 Zagg
I started using their Invisible Shields on my G1 and it still looks great. I've gotten a few replacements and haven't had any issues with the warranty.
One issue (and this probably happens with all full body covers) is that the rounded corners eventually lift up a little and collect lint. It's not too bad with the G2, but the G1 had some pretty tough corners to cover.
I have to agree with guys and +1 for Zagg. I bought one of these the same day I purchased my Desire Z:
The precision pre-cut invisibleSHIELD applies directly to your HTC Desire Z creating a full-screen cover providing the toughest, most durable protection you will find on planet earth. The invisibleSHIELD has its origins in the U.S. military, where it was used to protect the leading edge of high-speed helicopter blades from dust, dirt and debris. Now you can use that same powerful technology to protect your Device. Our exclusive, patented nano-memory technology film covers and shields your device, always keeping it as pristine and shiny as the day you took it out of the box.
The invisibleSHIELD is only .2 millimeters thick making it the slimmest skin or cover of its kind. It is so tough that we back it with a lifetime guarantee. So, if it ever does wear or scratch, ZAGG will replace it for free, for the life of your device. And if you ever need to remove the invisibleSHIELD, no problem; it comes off clean and leaves no sticky residue.

This shield is amazing and I have never had any problems. I had the professionals at the store install the shield as well, so they guaranteed that their installation would produce zero bubbles or they would replace it. As a Canadian I went to Future Shop and it was great and I couldn't be happier with any other 'case'.
I found that if you're careful for 24 hours following your case installation, you shouldn't have any problem getting the case to stick around the corners. Also as long as you're nice to your phone you shouldn't have the corners lift up.
Clarivue!!!!! or StealthGuard. Zagg products are overpriced in my opinion.
I got a stealthguard for shipping (first class mail, 3 days or so), have had it for about a month.
Application was good after watching the videos involving a drop of soap.
Hasn't come up at the edges, no scratches. It does seem to do a little bit of "self healing" for dings.
I am only using the screen protector, didn't use the other parts of the cover.

I bought the PRIVACY SCREEN PROTECTOR from t-mobile. When I received it, it was too big for the g2. So I had to cut it down to size. Touch response with the screen has to be pressed harder.
But the privacy part of the screen is perfect..

I thought Zagg was where it's at....and they are ok but Ghost Armor is king now. I got 2 full body sets for 24.99 and it looks absolutely great. Doesn't have the orange peel feel like the Zagg and is wayyyy easier to install. They are smart and tell you to get some water and put some soap in it and submerge the shield in it before putting it on the phone. This is where Zagg only sends you spray. Your results are that the Ghost Armor goes on so much easier, slides perfectly into place, and has no bubbles at all. The results with the Zagg are kinda different. You could do the same thing with the Zagg (soap water), but of course they don't tell you that, so you end of trying to use as little spray as possible. This results in you having a harder time putting the shield on. So all in all, they are very similar, but I like the Ghost Armor better because its cheaper, easier to install, looks great and has the best method of putting on your shield.

I'm currently using the Skinomi screen protector, had it for about a week now. I had the T-Mobile one and the clarity is much better with the Skinomi one. No issues yet.... The best thing was it was only about 3.50 shipped from Amazon.
Last time I bothered with a screen protector was when the storm 1 came out on verizon. I ordered it from seidioonline.com and it was easy to put on and lasted a long time.
I did get screen protectors for another phone that verizon sold...I went thru all 3 of them in the pack just trying to put the stupid things on. Waste of money right there.
I have not used a screen protector since. And never found the need to have one in over 3 years. So I say don't waste the money

Screen protector or not?

I was checking to see how many people do not use screen protectors and how many people do use screen protectors? I am just seeing if anyone is not using the screen protectors. I was wondering because I am having to change mine and it is clear as hell with it off. With it on it is kinda fuzzy. Anyone experiencing scratches in their screen without the screen protectors?
It was the first thing I did to the phone. No need for a screen protector. I have trained myself to carry the phone in my left pocket and keys in the right.
Mine came with a screen protector from the t-mobile store. It seemed pretty smooth, and clear, so I decided to leave it on. About a week after buying the phone, I noticed that the screen protector had gotten scratched, most likely from keys in my pocket. So I removed it and cleaned the glass.
I've been without a screen protector for weeks now, and I like it much better. It is so smooth when I use swype, and obviously the clarity is unmatched. With that being said, I am much more careful about what I have in my pocket along with my phone.
Judging by the lameness of the original screen protector, and what I've read about the GorillaGlass, I have a feeling that whatever was jagged enough to scratch the GorillaGlass, would have gone right through the protector anyway...so I'm going without one.
But I guess I have to be prepared for the consequences if I do mess it up.
I don't use a screen protector and I don't have any scratches. Its gorilla glass so its a lot more durable than ordinary glass.

Yea man I had them stupid T-Mobile anti smear screen protectors on and they sucked Aldo had a body glove case on... well guess what I keep both off the body glove scratched the sides of my phone a little and with the screen protection off its so much clearer and beautiful the screen just pops I love it had it off now for a month and not one scratch not even the tiniest scratch. So I guess the gorilla glass works and when I go out I'll throw a gel case on around the phone
I've kept the screen protector that originally came installed on the phone on it. Its not the greatest and is pretty scratched up now, but I'm not going without one. I've had a vibrant and sgs4g, both with high quality gorilla glass, both ended up getting tiny hairline scratches all over them. I only noticed the scratches at certain angles in certain light, but that's enough for me to not be foolish and think I should have to baby my phone. I shouldn't have to think alot about how I set my phone down or which pocket I put it in and "I hope the coins, keys, pens, etc don't scratch it ". I'd rather just keep a screen protector on and forget about it.
I've decided for now though to not worry about a case. They add too much bulk in my pocket and I'm not too concerned about the condition on the body. That may change if I find a slim case that doesn't hang in my pocket when I try pull I out.

Not to sound x-rated, but going without a screen protector is like not using a condom. You'll love the feel of not using one, but you may possibly pay in the long run by not using one. To me its just a phone and I know it will be replaced by the Samsung Hercules or the next Nexus phone whenever that comes out. Also I am pretty careful about where I place my phone so I never get scratches or dents. If your a landscaper or mechanic then I can understand the use of a screen protector.

No screen protector here and it's awesome. I have used them on all previous phones.
The phone always gets its own pocket or I just hold it. No scratches at all.

those screen protectors you see on amazon or wherever are freaking impossible to get on perfectly without bubbles from little specs of dust
I don't personally use a screen protector but I've installed about 60 invisible shields on G2x's and they look and feel great. If someone installs a screen protector for you and you get bubbles from dust specs or lint then the person who installed it failed.

I'm using the Clarivue anti-glare SP on mine -- not for protection, since I keep the phone in a belt case, but to reduce fingerprint smudges and glare. It really helps with those things and doesn't degrade the image quality much at all. I also really like the feel -- on the bare screen, my finger would drag and stick a little on the smooth glass, but the screen protector has just enough texture so it's like moving my finger over paper, no sticking or dragging.

Zagg shield or bulletproofguard

its a mental thing, atleast for me it is. when i purchased my inspire it came with the zagg shield on and i had a sense of relief. then i removed the zagg and used a cheap protector. which is turn felt a lot better to the touch. now i have the otter box and the built in protector for the case has a hair scratch or two on it, but whatever i got the otter box for free so i dont mind the case. plus i dont want anything to break if i drop the phone.
on the other hand i have a kindle fire that also has the gorilla glass too and i have never had a screen protector on that this at all and i must say im impressed by it. but i dont carry it around everywhere like my phone so im not afraid of dropping it. but damn there is no scratch on it anywhere.
if you watch the videos on youtube some pople claim it CAN be scratched but just not near as easy or often as normal, plus tons of videos of people stabbing their device and dropping it is kinda fun to watch
I've been using the Zagg shields on my phones for a couple of years now with good results. Only issue is that dirt will eventually build up under the shield after a year of use, and the install is a PITA. Of course is that really an issue? How long do most of us use a phone before we switch for the latest and greatest?
i have a small scratch on my screen, no idea from what. (shrugs) people will buy broken phones for good money on ebay so im not too worried lol
I have the Zagg Shield and so far its being pretty good. The install can be a pain though.

Coming from Mobile at Best Buy, if you use the install liquid, and all of it, it's easy to install. I've got the anti-glare invisheild and love it. Smooth feeling, no glare or smudges only down side is it's a bit pixelated due to the anti-glare technology. I think that should be soon fixed because they have fixed it on the iPhone ones.
I had a zagg shield on my iPhone and have one currently on my inspire. They're not quite as smooth as regular plastic screen protectors, but they scratch much less and are easier to put on without imperfections. If you want to try one for cheap, head to radio shack. I just picked up a clearances zagg for the Droid bionic. Two quick snips with a pair of scissorsand it covered my screen completely for only 50 cents

duh,Zagg is where its at
Hey I have been using the Zagg ones ... the first was a beast to put on but the secret is in the slick-um. IF you don't have nuff slick-um it will turn out all wrong...
ALSO,
make sure to check the box... my last box was light, sum dumass clepto did a snatch & grab...
hehe, heh
I recently purchased some of the BulletProof protectors from ebay as well. I scratched mine putting them on. Not sure if they are as "BulletProof" as advertised if you know what i mean. I do like how they are slick like glass instead of sticky like soft plastic. My phone had something similar to a Zagg on it when I bought it and i was not happy with the feel. Too bad you cant buy a thin sheet of gorilla glass and bond it on top of what is already there. Then if it does scratch the top sheet would be replaceable.
Gorilla glass all the way!
Ive had the phone for about a year now... NO scratches, period. My phone is always in my pocket, occasionally with keys, coins, or other items. I work in garden retain, so i often have sand, dirt, gravel, etc. find its way into my pocket.
Again, not a scratch
No protectors for me!

I've been using the Zagg shields on my phones for a couple of years now with good results. right now I'm using the smudge free version on my inspire and I just love it.
I bought a zagg shield when I got my Inspire, it served its purpose (rather it needed to or not with the gorilla glass). But it eventually collected so much dirt+dust I decided to take it off. I never seen such a beautiful display before on my phone! It was clearer, and the colors were more vibrant. I've been screen protector free for about 3 months now without any issues! (Knocks on wood!)
I suppose I'll let you guys know what I've been using.
I've had an xtreme guard screen protector on my phone since april 2011. By now it is due for replacement. The screen has "stretch marks" lol, they aren't bubbles or wrinkles...
I do have to say for 3 bucks I couldn't be happier. It is applied with some soapy water, which was great and allows for repositioning. It does seem fairly thick and makes me think it would actually help if I were to drop it onto pavement or something. The best part is that it is very slippery. It makes scrolling much easier than a bare screen.
I've heard they can be removed and replaced to fix any imperfections, even after extended periods, but for 3 bucks I just ordered a new one.
I give it two thumbs up!
In general they're all the same, clear TPU is what the screen protector is made of, I believe.
I have zaggs on both mine and my wifes inspires and love them. We decided to get them after my wife somehow scratched her screen (very tiny and very thin - you can only see it at the right angle and only with the screen off in bright light-cant see it at all with the zagg on). The reason I went with the more expensive zagg is the lifetime free replacement - Would much rather scratch the zagg than my screen.

Screen Protector

Anyone can recommend any good screen protectors at a good price? I don't mind paying extra for good quality. The verizon ones blow. Makes the screen look VERY pixelated. Trying to avoid purchasing a screen protecter like that.

Yes you should make a search through the forum next time but since this thread is already up..
I highly recommend a ZAGG Invisible Shield screen protector. It costs a little more but its absolutely worth it. They have a model for each specific phone so the protector molds around the camera and corners perfectly. It comes with a whole method of putting it on so its smooth when you finish. Plus if you register the screen protector on their website you can pretty much get a replacement for free if anything happens to the protector which isn't likely but still (too scratched to see the screen or something), plus if that happens it peels right off so you can put another one on and the screen is good as new. But its pretty epically scratch resistant, you can check out vids on youtube or their website. I can't stand when my screens get scratched, so I've been using it for years, very happy customer. They sell them at best buy.
Thanks for heads up guys. Much appreciated

These. They have great reviews. I am very happy with mine. Doing it's job well since July 2011. And it comes in a pack of 3 in case you mess up. And it comes with installation instructions. And, for giving them a good review, they offered to send me a pack of screen protectors free. So I got a pack of iPhone covers for my parents. Great company, great product
BTW if you mess up, soaking it in rubbing alcohol works great for removing dust and then you just try again and squeegee with a credit card.

It does have gorilla glass. When the phone originally came out it was on corninggorillaglass.com under products with gorilla glass. Now since it is old news it is off the site, but seeing as every major samsung phone is there like the GS, GSII, note, tab, and wp phones, I am sure the charge has it.

Without screen protector, you droid Charge will get scratch. Already happened to my daughter's phone.
I have never managed to scratch a smartphone screen, Gorilla Glass or not, and I've had smartphones since the original iPhone. I hate screen protectors of all forms. I hate the way the look and the way they feel, so I've never used one for more than a few days. I don't think I'm particularly "gentle" on a phone...the only thing special I do is keep it in a pocket by itself. I've seen other people's phone of various builds covered in scratches, and I still don't understand how they get so scratched up.

Doesn't matter what type of glass it has, it can get scratched. And not having a screen protector doesn't mean it will get scratched either. The Charge does have Gorilla Glass, but I wouldn't go around testing it out to see how tough it is. Odds are there are minimum hardness specs that it needs to pass, so some pieces of glass are harder than others.
I had mine in my pocket with keys for a year, no scratches. the plastic is scratched to heck, but the glass remains unscathed.
the charge has gorilla glass making it very scratch/crack resistant. i havent had a screen protector the whole time ive had it, which is about 10 months and it still looks brand new. and trust me, ive dropped it my fair share of times, infact i just dropped it earlier today. had it in my sweater pocket while i was riding my bike and it just flat out fell screen first onto the concrete. not even 1 little scratch.
just dont bother with a screen protector, it looks so much better without one.
but if you really are hell bent on getting a screen protector i can recommend Zagg, i had the enV Touch before this phone for 2 years with a Zagg invishield on the whole time. it kinda got that "rainbow" effect from the grease/sweat on your hands but it was very durable and scratch resistant with a nice fit. overall a perfect screen protector for my needs.
So everyone brag about how tough the screen on the charge, how would you explain to me there are 3 scratches on my daughter phone, which forced me to buy a screen protector???? you all claimed it "UN SCRATCHABLE".
I think you're the only person who's used the word unscratchable, but I did imply that you have to be careless to scratch a glass smartphone screen. Keeping my phone in a pocket by itself, and no other protections, has protected my screens without a screen protector since the original iPhone in 2007. Yes, there are situations where a screen protector would make sense, but in those situations, I'd probably rather use a case/holster that completely covered the screen.

Otterbox Commuter Screen Protector

What is the quality of the screen protector included with the Otterbox Commuter Series? I just ordered a brand new one (half off normal price on eBay), and though I already know that I love the case, I'm curious as to the quality of the screen protector that comes with it. Is there any screen clarity that is lost when it is applied correctly?
I've had the ZAGG Invisible Shield on my phone for a couple of months, and the screen quality on it was awful. It was so pixelated. I just took it off. This phone has such a gorgeous screen that if I can't have a screen protector that doesn't sacrifice the gorgeous HD display, I'd rather have none.
So I guess there's two parts here: is the included screen protector good, and if not, what is a good screen protector that works with the Commuter Series and doesn't sacrifice the screen quality?

Haven't got one for the gs4 yet but with precious otterbox I end up taking it off.
Since it only go over the screen and not stuck to the screen, it still allowed dirt and small particles to get under it. I ended up having to take the case apart to much to clean the dirt. So I took the screen protector portion off and applied a regular screen protector.
BTW you have s link to this eBay half off deal?

You want the best screen protector that won't sacrifice quality, you have to start looking at glass screen protectors. They are the best.

Just search for "otterbox commuter series galaxy s4" into the eBay search bar. There's tons of cases for much cheaper than the store or website. I was able go get one for $18, half off the official website and $22 less than Best Buy.
BTW, it sounds like you're talking about the defender series.

Yes sorry it was the Defender series that I've gotten in the past.
Well I'm 99% sure I got suckered into buying a fake Otterbox. I guess we'll see when it gets here.
I have the commuter and the screen protector that comes with it is pretty junky. It has the rainbow effect. Color streaks that you see far too often. I bought an iloome glass protector and its great! The only thing is they have crappy home buttons, they are cheap plastic or used to be. Idk if they changed to aluminum but I got an aluminum home button for a couple bucks and its all good

I can second that screen protector is junk. Hard to clean, rainbows really bad. I would recommend the spigen glas.tr nano if you have another 35 to burn. Best screen protector ive ever had.
Are these glass screen protectors easy to install cleanly? Do they leave any bubbles and is the screen still HD crisp? Also, do they fit well with the Commuter Series case? Sorry for all the questions.

They are super easy to install, Judy place on top of a clean screen and press... no bubbles because it is a solid piece of glass. There is a possibility for one large air bubble butt that is an easy fix, just lift up and slowly apply again by setting it back on top and press from the middle out.
It should fit that case but if the glass doesn't go to the edge perfectly or if the glass is too think, then it may not stay on right. Good luck!

I don't understand how the Zagg screen protectors detract from the screen quality... Yeah, if there are fingerprints on it maybe, but on a clean install I can't even tell there's a screen protector on it. To the original question though, the OB screen protector is terrible. I use the Otterbox defender, but the 1st thing I did was pop the crappy plastic screen protector off of it and put the Zagg protector on the phone. It's not like the Otterbox's screen protector is there to do anything more than prevent scratches to the screen.
I'm not sure it is clearly understood that there is a difference between the Commuter and Defender screen protectors. The Defender's is built in, while the Commuter's is a separate protector that is applied. I want to know the quality of that one.
As for the ZAGG, I've concluded that it's because of the Best Buy install. On lighter colors, the screen looked so ridiculously pixelated. It's an insult to the gorgeous screen that the S4 has.
At this point, I'll probably get a glass protector at some point, unless I love the protector I get with the case.
The iloome glass I have fits great with the commuter case. And its easy to put on. Just have to make sure the screen is clean. The glass stays straight so it very easy to align

Dont get the defender, the in built screen protector is worse than the separate one that comes with the commuter. It doesn't sit completely flat against the screen and will result in even worse rainbow effects and little pockets of separation that look terrible. Overall as good as the commuter case is i don't think that you would really gain much protection. That said the outside of the defender does feel really nice with the silicon.
As for glass screen protectors mine has been great and was really easy to install. Only thing is once its on, its on for good or at least until you change to a new one.
I think I'm gonna go for the iloome. It's on sale for $25 with free shipping on their website. I've spent a lot of money on protection for this phone, but it's still less than the insurance deductible on a new one.

I was worried about the same thing, but mine turned out to be authentic (I think). Look for:
Quality of silicone lining - Otterbox uses fairly stiff, yet flexible, silicone in their cases. The fakes usually use flimsy stuff that flops around and offers no protection.
Packaging - website listed on back, otterbox hologram sticker, sku sticker, etc. If the cardboard insert is printed to show a dummy screen, it's probably a fake. All of the otterbox inserts I've seen have been plain black.
A lot of people emphasize where it is made. I'm not too sure about that. I'd rather go by quality issues and obvious errors in design or packaging.
Look on youtube under "fake otterbox" and you'll see plenty of samples.
Good luck!
I must have got a good one, the screen protector that came with my otterbox commuter is just fine. No rainbow effect or anything

I have a commuter for my evo lte, and the quality is decent, but I can tell that it's on there if that makes sense.

Just an update: I got my case in an awesome green yesterday. Pretty sure it's real, and it's wonderful. The screen protector is horrible, but I knew that going in. I'll probably get around to buying an iLoome screen protector one of these days. For what I paid, I'm pretty happy.
