[Q] Cost of Used G3

Hi, I suggested G3 for my friend as it was a sweet deal on flipkart. Almost half the price,(and now flipkart is out of stock). I suggested to upgrade from eclair to froyo, and flashed a custom ROM on her fone (Big mistake) she is so tired of freezes, FCs that she wants to sell it, (Im not new to flashing, i ve been flashing/customizing for more than a year) I told her i can fix it, but she has no patience.
My q is, if she want's to sell it, how much should it be? she got it from flipkart for ~7000. I can use another G3 for my brother or for R&D.

my friend, instead of a g3 just buy one of samsungs newer models like galaxy
pop or fit....
g3 is an outdated phone now and even everyone including the devs here on the forum will stop supporting this phone in about a year....
it is much more worth it to buy some other model as of now.......
as for your friend,,,,,just flash a stock rom or maybe close to stock like lestatious 1.9 . dont use any oc kernel for best results....
hope i helped!

I was thinking about buying a new version of G3 when my went in the washing machine, but then I saw that the used price for a Galaxy S is around 200€. So I got one for 170€ or something. Couldn't be happier as this is way better then Gio or Ace or whatever.

Exactly, just buy a high-end phone used for a cheaper price. There's no difference or buy for a good deal. On CEx the price for a Motorola milestone is £109 and for experia arc its £130. However they're used but it makes no difference.

Oooooooo Crap!
Thats the worst Nightmare.
But there was a person with the same problem Maybe worse. He got his screen fixed from Samsung service center. Check the general section.
All the Best
EDIT
Check this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445425&highlight=screen
But for me, its not the external part (the digitizer) witch is broken but inside the phone, the LCD panel
If it was only this, i can change it myself
www.youtube.com/watch?v=thIORNQ4_og
these guys fixed it on a very similar phone. so theres hope! might be cheaper just to buy another g3 though...
Im sorry for your loss

Hm 60€ is about half of a new galaxy 3 phone. If you are okay with the phone pay 60. If you want a new phone and you can spend some money go for a better one. In any situation dont buy a new g3, just fix it That's my opinion.
PS: I just saw this http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_mini_2_s6500-3883.php I liked it..

Huawei is better than LG

Believe me. I gave my IDEOS X5 to my elder sister and now she has ICS 4.0.3 stable ROM. What do I have? A ****ING BRICK which can't call and recieve calls.
I gave my Xperia arc to my sister and she has ICS too.
I went crazy. I am really bored of this ****! I am bored of waiting and I am frustrated that LG does not accept the problem and act quickly.
Please tell everbody near you to NOT TO BUY LG!

yep the p920 was my first and will be my last lg phone... every brand has had problematic phones at some time, i wouldn't be mad at lg if it wasn't for their super ****ty support... after sending the phone to support twice, they returned it to me twice exactly as it was because they say they can't find any problem (and my problem is worse than ghost call [which i have too] my phone turns off by itself at least once a day...)
crappy phone + ****ty support = me never buying anything from lg again.
this phone has so many problems lg should be forced to recall them off the market...
Amen to that shizz i am never going to buy or even fing look at another LG i don't care if it has 20 cores 1 million gigs of ram and a screen with 2080p on it idgaf.. I called up lg and told them about the gc problem they told me to send my phone in. really lg you can't acknowledge the fact people have been posting about it and spaming your facebook page about it?
I am sick of it too but i am waiting for the HTC One x to go cheaper i am not paying £41 a month..

I'm 100% positive the reason most developers stay away from this phone is because of the .kdz format.

Not really a problem now with LGExtract which extracts the unencrypted .bin files. The .img files can then be extracted and edited.

Android phone for girlfriend

Hi XDA,
my girlfriend got a LG Optimus L3 (40€) from me to WhatsApp with me.
Now her parents want to buy her a new (real) phone around 250€. Her sister chose the Galaxy S3 Mini (250€).
Of course I said, choose the Nexus 4 (310€), choose it, it's awesome, Nexus 4!!!
But she thinks about getting an S3 Mini, too.
Are there any good Android phones for a price around 250€? With nice design and a good camera?
I looked around and the S3 Mini seemed to be a good choice, but WTF, it's half as good as the Nexus - for 60€ less.
Any recommendations? :/
Thank you!
If you're looking for design and camera, Sony will be a good choice. Though the hardware and OS is quite backdated

Thank you for helping me.
Well, I showed her all (mid-range) opportunities and she saw the Nexus 4 in a shop, finally she chose to go high-end for cheap with it.
It's available right now in our German Play Store, her parents are even paying her the full 310€, so here we go, luck for both of us

I always stay away from them low end Androids... They usually don't have the speed, space, and usually cause more frustrations than they are really worth... Invest in a mid to high end android and put insurance on it... She will love it!!!
well my 2 cents...
I think you must look at Sony TIPO..its Great for Girls..
well it depends on your girl friend
does she care about the look of the device (the fantastic pinky thing thta makes calls ), or she needs a device that do everything without lagging and with easy UI
if she wants the look , i cant help you
if she needs a good device capable of doing nearly anything , go for nexus 4
then use any launcher to make an easy UI and she will be totally happy

Where is the love for this phone

The one phablet that can go toe to toe with the Note 3, high end specs, great camera, great building quality and there is one ROM for it and as yet not an easy root method. Bugger all threads.
Why is no one loving this phone?
Rooting can be done via towelroot. No custom recoveries or roms though..

I'm wondering the same. My phone will be delivered shortly. But it seems that this will be my first Android phone without CyanogenMod. I can't believe this.I have already asked Ricardo with a pm but no reaction yet. May be somebody knows him better and could ask him to make a recovery and start a CM project for our sweet device? The hardware does not much differ from the G2 isn't it?
The problem is that LG decided to implement a stupidly secure boot loader, without an unlockable boot loader, not much development can happen. Being the flashing addict I am, I'm gonna sell mine and but an Xperia Z Ultra

I don't understand that business decision. Why would you not sell in one of the biggest cell phone markets?
Not releasing it in America is mostly the problem, without American developers getting their hands on it, no development can really happen. Not a smart move by LG is my opinion.
I have got my hands on one now.. and hopefully not very soon , but soon will be releasing something...
I sold my 16gb D838 a month ago as I just couldn't resist the temptation of the G3. Yesterday, I put my G3 on ebay and have ordered a 32gb D838  For anybody lusting after the G3, don't do it. The screen is beautiful (if you can find 4k content ) but, other than that, the G Pro 2 is a far better device IMO. The G3 is a lagfest with frequent launcher redraws due to bad ram management, (at least it was on my 2g ram version) it appears to have been rushed out with no software optimisation. The 801 chip cannot handle the resolution.
Anyway, can't wait for my new baby to arrive, I consider it to be the best device I have ever had and that is many.
OK Here we go

That is so true. I couldn't resist to try the G3 too. But I really regret this choice. the D838 is so smooth and fast in everything. Even the camera is very fast and makes really nice pictures. The camera of the G3 is for my idea not any better and the phone itself is lagging everywhere. I have the 32GB version and the extra RAM doesn't make a difference. Like you said the CPU or the GPU isn't enough to make this device to what it had should been. I'm now on vacation but when I'm back home I will immediately sell the G3 and keep my Pro 2.

I've had my LG G Pro 2 32GB for a couple of months now, it's the best phone I've had since my Sony Xperia Z Ultra 16GB. But now it's time to move on to another device so put it up for sale on Ebay at a bargain price. It's a shame LG messed up the D83810F update, looking forward to G Pro 3 if LG bother with it. I will say that I won't be rushing out to by the G3.
I hope a custom recovery will release for this phone soon, after that many Rom will appear!
cannot agree more , I am on the same camp got G3 , sold and took the G pro 2 hahha
