In regards to posting on the xda site I'm new, but I've been surfing the site and its various forums for quite some time. As stated in my topic title, I've had the Droid X2 ever since it first launched and I'll be making my move into the Razr HD this weekend.
I've been closely watching the Razr HD forum and all of it's topics and have gathered questions that I'd like answered as a whole since some of them weren't so clear through some of the answers provided.
1.) It's nice to see safestrap out for this device, but how long should I expect to wait before the initial ROMs start rolling in?
I've compiled a list of problems that people have come across with this device and was wondering if people as a whole were experiencing the same issues (I am on Verizon if that makes any difference between any version variants of the Razr HD)
1.) Some have listed their phones are showing up as 1500 mAh through the Battery Monitor app (battery should be 2530 mAh) is this an error for some or an actual flaw?
2.) Some have listed that their notification light isn't working or stops working after they transfer their stuff over from Google (Common problem? and/or is there a fix?)
3.) Is everyone's Camera flushed perfectly into the phone or sticking out?
4.) How common is the internal call volume and external speaker problem affecting some? I heard this phone has a great external speaker (my dx2 doesn't!)
5.) Battery Life! Hows everyone's battery holding up and what kind of user are you? Trying to get an idea of what to expect since I'm an above average user and will do lots with this phone.
Thank you all in advance for all the input, I'm just trying to make sure I know what to expect when jumping to this device.
My job doesn't have an actual demo unit out to play around with so I'm screwed on seeing this phone up close =/
Regarding the app called Battery Monitor Widget by 3C, it also showed 1500mah for my Maxx HD.
I believe it to be false stats from the app as my phone actually last longer than what appears to be.
I love my Maxx HD, however I have one complaint. In idle state, my Maxx HD would lose around 6-7% in 10 hours compare to my Xperia x10 with
WolfBreak custom rom which would only lose 4%. I guess it's because I haven't disable all the bloatware yet.
P.S. Just to clarified, if both phone plays the exact same 20min video thru wifi only - Maxx HD would only lose 4% while my Xperia x10 would lose 10%.

1. ROMs - There is already one out, and one in the works for the developer edition. I would say it shouldnt take more than a couple more months (at the longest to see some ported over to or made for the regular devices.)
1. Yea that app shows incorrect battery life for some but it is a free app and I wouldn't put much emphasis on it. There is no way to get the battery life people are reporting on a 1500 battery.
2. Hmm sounds like an isolated problem. Mine works fine. (don't know much on the subject right now)
3. Camera is flush.
4. The volume for me is loud. Almost too loud with notifications. I also came from a X2 and the phone call sound is a major improvement for me.
5. I have the Razr HD Developer edition. I would say i am a moderate (maybe slightly heavy user) and i have no problem getting a good 24 hours out of it. (sometimes a couple less sometimes a couple more.)
Thanks for the feedback man, this is assuring. I want to have a phone that will last out of my own usage and even through some dev support from roms. I felt somewhat alone when it came to the development for the X2 seeing as very few roms came out for it. (I only used eclipse, cm, then I went completely stock root these last few months) the Razr HD just has a complete build and will receive jb so I'm satisfied on that alone.

battery life on mine is ridiculous, completely stock never rooted Maxx HD here and I'm pulling at least 24 hours out of the battery and thats with heavy usage... if I can find the screenies on my phone I'll post them, I got something ridiculous one day like 26 hours of good use with like 6 hours of screen on time set at 75% brightness

Sure thing man. A little off topic but did you try CM10 on your X2? It has some bugs but it lets you experience JB. So I can't even imagine how smooth it will be on the HD.. coming by years end.

If you're buying the phone off contract, I'd go with the developer. If you are using an upgrade, the Maxx is worth the extra bit of coin. It's the same hardware, just better battery life.

yep same charge and the brightness was pretty high too about 80% or so, I usually don't use auto brightness lol... oh and that was from maybe my 3rd or 4th day of having it so the battery wasn't "broken in" yet either
edit: also notice how the light use at the beginning pretty much flatlines the battery drain, its pretty good at low power idle

Alright guys, I just saw pictures of the new Droid Bionic and I gotta say.....WOW. I am really blown away and I think I really want this, plus, moto said there going to unlock bootloaders (not quite sure why everyone forgot this http://pocketnow.com/android/motorola-promises-android-bootloader-unlock-in-late-2011). What do you guys thing? This phone is one hell of a beast but I also am in love with sense but blurs been winning me over. Thoughts?!?!?
2 fascinates and 2 droid x's later i can say if it aint stock android or htc sense i dont want it.
If it has unlocked bootloader so u can run cm7 then thats a different story but dont hold ur breath.
It's all personal preference. If you want to shell out the money for a bionic go ahead. I am quite happy with my thunderbolt. I really don't see how my experience can be improved much. But then again personal experiences vary.

My expierence with the TB has been great but im definitly worried about our longevity because every time i think about it, the TB just seems like a test bed device for 4G. Ill be honest, the only thing holding me back is HTC Sense because I love the heck out of HTC Sense but I really need that next gen power.
I say give the Bionic a look. The hardware looks great and the new Blur is actually really good.

Thats moto official right there, of course there going to do it (Okay I do realize i sound pretty nieve right there), but still Verizon confermed that they have no problems with letting unlocked bootloaders on their networks so I dont see why it wouldnt happen
I don't think I would believe the "no-locked-bootload" bit until I see it.
No Brainer
HTC Thunderbolt
1) When we need to have conference call we use anyone else's phone because the external speaker on the TB sounds like crap.
2) The ear speaker is so high pitched and scratchy sounding it actually hurts!
3) Mine has a bad head phone amp. (can't add base).
4) battery lasts 4 hours.
5) Takes forever to find satellites.
6) Random reboots.
7) Who needs sense when 3rd party launchers and widgets are better and more configurable.
I could keep going but you're probably bored already. The only thing good about the HTC is it's looks. I'd go for the Moto or wait for a dual core Samsung.
@mcargil05
It sounds like you've had nothing but problems. I am surprised you haven't traded the TB for something else. My speakerphone & ear speaker are no better or worse than any other phone I've used. When I stream music over audiogalaxy thru my car aux port, it sounds as good as my ipod. If your phone amp is bad, that should be covered by warranty & you should be able to swap phones. If you're only getting 4 hours between charges, that's definitely a hardware issue or bad battery, or both. I got 7+ hrs on stock before flashing a battery-sipping kernel (16-20 hrs now). GPS lock in 3-7 secs depending on whether I'm indoors. I had a couple of random reboots right after flashing GB-based rom, but nothing since. It's true that Sense is kinda "take it or leave it", not a lot of customizing options there. But I think it's pretty good for a stock app & it does what I need it to do. I used Launcher Pro on my Captivate & Nexus One, and I don't miss it enough to ditch Sense. Some ppl absolutely despise Sense, so there will always be demand for alternative launchers & widgets. Good luck with your TB, if you decide to keep it.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I would trade my Bolt for a Bionic IF the bootloader is unlocked. And I wouldn't be an early adopter on the Bionic. I would only buy it after CM7 is stable on the phone. And by that time... Kal El Tegra 3 phones will be out nearly (they're due by X-Mas, and the Bionic isn't due out until August).
I would say, if you have a Thunderbolt, it's probably best to wait until Xmas/CES time the end of this year/early next year. There are going to be some crazy phones out in 6-9 months from now.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
I am good with the Thunderbolt until early next year when we have a new crop of phones. I wanted to the Moto, but was on blackberry and didn't want to wait until the moto dropped when we kept getting pushed back to get 4g and Android goodness.
The battery could be better but I have 3 spare batteries and an external charger for them so it is all good.
Personally the screen is the killer for me. The crappy light leakage, terrible in bright lighting, and don't get me started on the spot lights. Terrible blacks. I bought a $4300 65" plasma to get an amazing picture, why would I not want that kind of picture on my phone if possible.
I dont see how comparing a $4300 dollar TV and a phone makes any sense.

Love my TBolt. Everything has been great with it so far. All the whining you are hearing are from people who haven't tinkered with their phone. Things like low battery life can be solved in a matter of minutes and a google search. I am now going on 10 hours with 65% battery left, which is better than my old X.
Plus I got it on a 2 year plan so 1. I will hopefully be grandfathered into 4G and 2. Will have plenty of time to see how new phones are going to develop before jumping right into them (Kind of like what I did with my TB).
I see nothing but good for the TB for at least another year. Soon the RIL will be released alongside of Gingerbread with 4G speeds. Come on you can't go wrong.

Has anyone of you played with one yet? I hear they have CM7 on it already....
After jumping to several new phones and then being pissed while waiting on a good ROM to come out, I have finally seen the light. I am no longer jumping to a new phone the second it comes out. When I see that there's a good amount of dev being done on a device, then I'll switch. That's right around the time something new comes out... So, I'll still be upgrading every year or so, but about 6 months after the new stuff gets released.
Thankful for the devs that make these phones great!

No, the Charge is a quality device and I will be happy with it until there is a phone launched with ICS on Verizon. The Bionic has no guarantee for timely software updates and comes with too much bloatware for my taste. Honestly, I only bought the Charge to have unlimited 4G data. I would have rather just waited for a device with ICS but Verizon forced my hand.

The Bionic has way too many disadvantages for me starting with the awful looking washed out/grainy pentile screen, the camera sucks etc etc etc
My boss had one for two days & I played with it constantly before he returned it. Neither of us where impressed with the thing at all.

I am spoiled rotten by Super AMOLED and + displays. There is no way I would be happy, content, or even mildly okay with a pentile fuzzy screen. If something comes out that is faster, has more memory, AND has an awesome screen then I may consider it. I don't have to have a screen as good at the Super AMOLED or Super AMOLED+, but they sure have set the bar really high for me.
The screen was the deal breaker for me, no point in having a super fast phone if it looks like s*!#

AMEN Brother
I've had just about all the smartphones out & only 2 or 3 have been an upgrade
I am on contract but don't mind selling the phone to recoup some of my loss..
Two reasons why I'm thinking of moving away from the DC.
1. Handset speaker volume to low during a call...yes I have it all the way up!
2. No matter what ROM I use, the phone gets laggy after a few days and needs rebooting to clear. Using Zeam as launcher right now too!
Battery life is ok, get about 2 - 2.5 hrs of "screen time" a day
I do love the screen though...except for the over saturated colors....wish there was an app to adjust saturation

Well, I have to totally agree with you on all of those. #2 is the one that really kills me, especially when you are trying to do something as simple as making a phonecall.
We need a good app like QuickGamma, that would fix the colors with the screen. Red is WAY overblown!
The bionic's screen is horrendous ..

Many Fascinate users were upgraded to the Charge for free during a short period of time. I, myself, was one of those users and I am eligible for an upgrade if I were to see something I really liked.
As was pointed out, many other people buy phones off contract. There is a huge used market. Many folks will buy a like-new used phone and turn around and sell it when something bigger/better comes out to recoup some value from it. There are lots of folks that upgrade their phone several times a year for a number of reasons.
I don't upgrade that often, but I've seen others that do.
Hi,
I bought my Nexus a week ago. During the first day the battery life seemed to be ok but since 2 oder 3 days it is really bad.
I didn´t really use the phone today (checked some emails and used for 2 or 3 really short calls) and the battery is emtpy after 11 hours...
Phone is rooted stock rom (CF) 4.4.2 since the first day. Any ideas?
Need much more information to get an idea what you do with your phone and how its setup. What features are running and stuff like that.
Rooted?
And do yourself a favor and get Gsam from play store, as well as gsam root companion after, if you're rooted. It has much more detailed information. The stock battery usage screen says very little to help find an issue.
Also, read through some of the following thread...start on last page and go back a bit. Tonnes of good info and tips there. A better place to discuss issues as well.

i see this too often, but not as much on xda, more here in real life.
OP...there are threads about the possible battery issues with the N5 and how they can be fixed all over the N5 forum. Perhaps you could've checked those out first before opening a thread. However, I do agree with the assessment that it takes a bit more investigating on your part to figure out why you're having battery drain issues.
The picture you posted is just a microcosm of what things could also be draining your battery. Do you have apps running in the background? Are your apps syncing too frequently? Are Google apps running or syncing too often?
What fixed my drain issues was going into my Accounts settings and ticking only the Google apps I used on a regular basis (Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts) and unticking the others.
Seems just another post a question, then don't bother to return to see responses....or at least not comment on any of it...kinda thread. Lol
You can lead a horse to water, but can't make it drink.
Hi, I didn't have any more issues so far. Right after creating this thread the issue disappeared without any changes except installing the battery app mentioned in the first reply (and maybe a reboot).

I have had my Gear 2 for about 7 days now and i barely get 24hrs on a single charge.
What are people seeing for battery consumption?
Am i missing something?
I thought it was the newness and that i might have been using a lot so i planned to reset the watch and not use it that much as a test. So yesterday i reinitialized my G2 and reinstalled the Gear Manager on my phone. I planned for a day of limited use. I turned off the screen motion sensor. Then this morning i took the G2 off charge at 8:30am. I checked the time today maybe about 10 times received 2 notifications and at 8:50PM i am at 49% WTF?
This is terrible performance and sadly i am contemplating returning my G2 to best buy and waiting to see what else comes out in later this year. I also can't seem to get notifications to pop up on the screen. I get vibration and beeps but i still have to open the notification section to read the msgs from my messaging app Invi.
The battery is really going to be the deal breaker for me unless someone has some insight to what might be causing this massive drain.
I've had mine for a little longer than yourself. I have mine hooked up to a note 3 and I have been getting great battery life, in the 3+ days range. I turned off the motion sensor and the battery has gotten even better, sitting at 69% after pulling it off the charger yesterday morning, I am not a heavy user of it however, I use it mainly at work, since I can't have my phone on vibrate, only silence it allows me to know when my phone receives things in a discrete manner. You probably received a defective unit as to the battery life and the notification issues. I would take it back to best buy and trade it for another. My 2 cents.
It is now 12:45AM the G2 has been off charge for 16hr 15min and i am at 20% I have only checked the time about 5 times since my original post.
I don't think it will make it to 24hrs.

That is the kind of performance i was hoping for.
Maybe i will return it for another but i don't have a good feeling. Maybe it is something related to my S4 and the G2 combination.
You need to remember that although the screen is off its still working. Mine is working fine on S4 and I have everything on and brightest it can go and use it a lot .anything over 24 hours is fine to me. Currently been off charge for 10 hours and still 83%. We all use devices differently so it's either defective or something isn't set right.

As i stated in my post i refrained from using the G2 aside from checking the time throughout the day. I completely agree with you. The question is what could possibly be set wrong to cause this,
When the G2 reached 15% at around 2AM (~17hrs off charge) i turned off the bluetooth on the G2 and after 2 hours it was at 14%. So it seems that it is related to the bluetooth and S4.
Which android version do you run on you your S4?

I am rooted running Hyperdrive Rom (Android 4.3)
Could it be the rom version? There are more battery problems reported with roms that are not samsung stock roms. Good luck!

I'm on sac's v3 kit kat . Runs great except when downloading apps fails. I went back to stock and apps worked fine. I playing around with different kernels and will post my findings

I thought Gear 2 only work with 4.4?
No they work with 4.3. My note 3 was 4.3 due to Verizon being slow to update. But the gear worked great with 4.3. Works better with 4.4 though. I see better battery life on both devices, it seems to not drain as much.

The same
Bought mine a couple of days ago. Wonderful device, however, the battery last for only 1 day. Running with Note II Android 4.3 . If Android 4.4.2 doesn't solve a problem, I'll head for Service. Fortunately, here is Taiwan there is no problem with that.
Anything significantly different about the user experience with 4.4.4 vs 4.4 for the Maxx?
Any issues loading up on the Maxx?
Is root preserved with survival mode? Any issues with xposed?
Is it worth upgrading?
Instead of creating new threads, you should probably visit the main thread which answers all of those questions
I figured it would be a good idea to start a new thread now that all the initial excitement has subsided and people could formulate a complete response about their experience as a whole.

Or join in on the thread that has answered these questions numerous times. But hey whatever works for you
My opinion: if you're rooted/WP off.....don't update. There's nothing about this update that makes it worth losing WP off. Yeah its cool that were up to date with nexus but 4.4 rooted beats the update to me.

Well... it's the same as 4.4, there's no or little visual changes, but, at least ART is much stable compared to 4.4...

I'm of the same mind. No one has said anything compelling enough about 4.4.4 to make me give up root & wp off.
I might feel differently if there was a working WiFi tether hack, but that only matters because I'm unlimited data.
I'd said for 8 months Droid Maxx was just about perfect and didn't need root to be a great device, until they broke FoxFi functionality.
Still, faster ART and reports of improved battery life are airways tempting. I used to get an easy 36 hours on this phone, for months I'm lucky if I get 18 hours.

Yes if you are on locked bootloader. Pretty sure you've been told this in the other 3 threads you've asked though.

You seem to be following me [emoji47] hehe
Im not rooted yet, I just wanna make sure I know what Im going to do about root and later install soak test.
Things in this phone seems to be difficult.
I received an OTA to 4.4.4 this morning! Battery is definitely holding better than on 4.4 and a camera works better than before.
Works great...can't really tell yet if battery life is better..but "Android System" is certainly reported as using a much lower percentage than before the update...
No lag or stuttering to be seen (though never really had any before either)...
Overall solid update, but almost everything is under the hood type stuff..so if you're happy with current battery life, and really need w/p off...then you may want to hold out...

NOT!
My phone is using about half as much battery as it was in sleep.
I have a total of 5 email accounts syncing (don't ask), plus miscellaneous other **** (Facebook, Twitter, etc), and I use about 1.8% per hour.
