Does anyone know if there's any kind of SIM card adapter that will work with this phone's micro SIM? I work around coal and power plants daily and I'd rather not ruin my new phone, so I'd like to be able to switch back and forth between the One X and my old Samsung Captivate. Anyone have any idea if this is possible with an adapter somewhere?

A micro sim is a micro sim.

if you use a piece of scotch tape the micro sim should fit into the captivate no problem. just set it properly over the contacts and then put the battery over it
Yes, it will be the first question.
If anybody will have to disassemble it, please say us or give pics!:good:
Lol shouldn't root be first

sure. but photon 4g thing (insert abroad sim card and use it) really impressed me, that's why the question was asked
I live outside US, most people here uses GSM network, that's why some "global phone / world phone" that released in US, can be use here.
but, that phones has "removable" SIM Card, which is simply put GSM SIM Card inside these phones than we can use it in my country.
personally, I use Droid Incre2 and Photon 4G but, would like to try this new Photon Q. Since it just came out on Sunday (August 19), there's not much info about the "global phone" capabilities, except the "embedded / soldered SIM Card"??
would u mind guys, to show us here, what kind of this "embedded / soledered SIM Card" looks like? do we still can see the SIM Card inside the phone? or not?
If it's true non-removable SIM Card, looks like I can't use this phone outside US, except I use it in CDMA network only

Unless a method is discovered to safely remove the SIM and carrier unlock the phone to accept a generic SIM, I don't don't this device is going to be for you.
Its unknown yet as the only way of really knowing is voiding the warranty by removing the battery. Our answer is under the battery

the first chance i get at work, im going to take this baby apart and see if the sim card is actually removable or if it's just an aproximation of a simcard integrated into the board.

confirmed, there's no "sim card" in the phone it's just gsm enabled with a micro chip in the phone. -_- easy as hell to take apart... the back cover pops right off, no glue no screws. lol

If I were you I'd see if you can cancel the order, at least for the time being.
hi all...
I'd like to buy photon q for parts - bad esn / water damage ...etc.
I need it for check board for possibility connect sim slot.
...let me know
GSM SIM
I stay outside US where GSM is the way of life.
Get a GSM SIM, insert in any handset and start using.
Anyway I will be able to do the same with this handset??
....maybe....but first must i see full service manual, or board
If the first Photon 4G could be used successfully with GSM connections, it should be possible with this one too right? Is anything fundamentally different between the two?

AFAIK, Photon Q uses "embedded SIM Card", there is no slot for usual SIM Card. The GSM network will run on this baby but via Sprint's roaming capabilities..which means, it can be use outside US for GSM Service but still in Sprint's network..
I'm in India right now on vacation. I own a rogers s2 lte. Recently I've been getting random popup messages saying my Sim card has been removed and i need to restart the phone. Thing is I did remove the Sim card for a minute or so a few days ago but I'm still on the same rogers Sim card and the phone is in flight mode the entire time. Its annoying for this to happen. Any ideas?
It could be a ROM or radio issue. Could also be a sim card slot issue, bent or broken pins etc.
Wish I could help, but you need to give more info. Are you running stock or a rom? Have you dropped it recently? It could be software or hardware, but nobody can help you if you don't give any info.

A word of caution ...just sharing from my mistake...
I bought a sim adapter same as you to use in my rooted m7 ....I thought I would be smart and store the sim adapter inside the m7 tray with no sim, for safe keeping.. Big mistake ...the pins inside lock the adapter inside...I did finally get the tray out, but it took some doing and luck..no damage...
Anyway just a thought to save someone else aggravation.

I leave mine in the DNA SIM tray (with no SIM card) without issue. It opens using that HTC pin thingie they give you very smoothly.
I've read reviews for some SIM adapters that get jammed like that but the reviews for this one were very good and from my use I'd back those reviews.
i have the same one, little pricey for what it is but it works.
Today I wanted to insert a data sim in first slot but it was not going down. Thinking that there the sim is old. So I went to provider office and bought a new data sim. I inserted the sim without any obstruction but the device is not detecting the sim. I found that there are scratches on one lower end of sim terminals but there are no signs of scratches on the other end. Meaning that the device terminals are not attaching the sim terminals.
Any help would be much appreciated. I can't approach even the service center even if it is present.

I think you should trace the problem and go step by step here.
Since you are using the 1st slot then I am assuming you have a micro sim here.
A good first move would be inserting your friend's sim in the phone. If the sim works, then it could be possible that your sim got damaged for some reason.
If both are still not working, then you need to check for the carrier.
Maybe the phone is not fully unlocked, which means it will not work with some carriers.
Hope that helps

Thanks for coming for help.
The sim is working fine in another phone.
Secondly the same phone was having good data connection with the same carrier.
I think there is a problem in the terminals inside the slot. It has dislodged??

So, how did it go? Did you verify that the pins was messed up or what happened? (I have a ulefone be pro with the exact same issue)

What you are talking about? This was posted before the other post you have seen. I am the best keeper of any phone. But this was very unfortunate. I was inserting sim into the sim one tray. It was not going. So I left it. It was an old sim which was cut. I didn't use much force. Then I went and got a new sim and tried again. It went but was no more detected. I took it to the shop, from where I bought it. They sent it to Huawei center. They returned the phone saying that the inside terminals have broken. You have to pay 400 dollars. I refused to pay as I am not insane to do that.
It means that it is very delicate inside. Broken with a mild force.
Now I am using it with sim 2 only.
