I've tried every bootloader unlock and I keep getting that error. Any thoughts? The supposed non htcdev bootloader unlocks still take me to htcdev and the same error. I'm rooted

Please read my post before telling me to read. I know that it won't work strictly through htcdev. I'm trying the bootloader unlocks in android development and am still getting that error. Do you have some information I need to know about?

I managed to unlock the bootloader for my AT&T One X. These are the steps that I took.I think that the problem I had was that my root wasn't done completely. SuperSU was installed, but whenever I tried to use an app that required root, it would ask if I was rooted.
1. I factory reset my phone through the bootloader. (For me, this removed root).
2. I uninstalled the HTC drivers on my PC, then reinstalled.
3. Re-root, using this root.
3a. USB debugging enabled3b. Disable fastboot.3c. Make sure HTC sync isn't running.3d. If using desktop, plug USB into the back of the computer.4. Check and make sure root is working properly. You can go into SuperSU and it should update SU binaries.
5. Use this tool to unlock the bootloader.
That is what worked for me. I took every precaution I could think of and it worked. Good luck!

I'm running 3.18 on my att one x and having zero luck unlocking my phone via htcdev... keep getting error 160. I also cant find any one click roots for 3.18?? Any special steps I should know about?
That's because htcdev blocks AT&T phones. You need to get SuperCID first. You can't have looked very hard, because there is a 3.18 root method in the General section of our phone's forum. Also, you probably need to do some reading, because you should have known these facts before attempting to alter your phone.

You can't find any 1-click roots for 3.18, because there are none.
The "special steps" you should follow, are to first start looking at my Index thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Find the root method for 3.18. Then you will need to SuperCID. Then, and only then, will you be able to unlock the bootlaoder. Read read read.
Has anybody had this issue with the HTC One M4
To anybody that knows about these forums,
I have been trying to unlock the bootloader for the new HTC One from Verizon, I went to the HTcdev website, and I follow all the instructions step by step, I paste the code into the box, then it tells me some code error 160 mid not allowed, so now I have no clue what that means, I check out the websites and they all have similar instructions on unlocking the bootloader, but they all worked and none of them got the error 160 mid not allowed, I check out the error forums, and they are just as frustrating because they get detailed into what the reason in the code is, but considering that the need for the code to be all 1111 doesn't help when the phone won't even unlock through the htcdev site.
Has anyone else come up against this particular error and if so how was it resolved? Any help is greatly appreciated:fingers-crossed:
You're I'm the wrong forum buddy, this is the HTC One XL forum.

I relocked my bootloader so I could get back to stock from soft brick. I changed to super cid and reulocked it, but it still says relocked. Now when I try to unlock it again I get an error from command prompt. Is it really locked still and what can I do to reunlock it if is. Thanks

try getting into bootloader with the phone plugged up to computer. sometimes the token wont take when its plugged up to computer.
The token took and sent me to the unlock bootloader prompt, but now when I run the unlock token thru cmd it gives me an error message, something about the unlock token itself, also did this when trying to flash recovery.

if your already supercid you dont go through the supercid process again. the token should always work though. just try again and again. get into bootloader manually then plug phone into computer and do it.
Should I try bootloader oem unlock since the unlock token isn't working, and its supposed to be unlocked. I ran the htcdev instructed command successfully and chose to allow unlock on my phone once but it still says relocked

so what happended? I am having the same problem and can't figure it out. Let me know if you got it re-unlocked and how.
Sometimes the unlock codes need a few attempts to take. Try disconnecting your phone and shutting it down, then restart and try again. That worked for me.
I wanted to root my phone and apparently I have to unlock it using the HTCdev boatloader first but I can't.
It says on HTCdev that I have to select the "Fastboot" option from the boatloader but I can't select anything. It shows the options for a second then it switches to this automatically:
postimage.org/w57u6jjh5/photo.jpg I can't put the full link because xda forums doesn't allow to post links until after 10 days but just copy that and put it in your browser.
(I got this picture somewhere from the internet but it's exactly what I see on my device).
After that, it says something like "Failed. Press Power to Reboot." Help?
Mine keeps doing the same thing... Very frustrating!!!

make sure that you register to htcdev and if it is ok with you, I can help you over teamviever.

ok...don't know what to tell you. May I have a look over teamviewer?? BTW, why do you want to unlock the bootloader for?
Dear XDA experts,
I'm trying to unlock the bootloader on my HTC one X phone for AT&T. My reason for doing this is i am no longer using AT&T so i unlocked the phone but i would also like to be able to use the wifi hotspot function which AT&T has blocked.
I followed this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671396 to accomplish the unlock but I'm getting this error when typing "su" in the adb shell command: /system/bin/sh: su: not found
127|[email protected]:/ $
I rooted the phone (AT&T HTC ONE X) using this technique : http://www.androidauthority.com/att-one-x-root-87398/
I'm a little new to all this so I would really appreciate any input.
Thanks a lot!
The Issue might be caused by your Firmware I Personally Recommend using Hasoon2000's AIO Toolkit which can be located @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952426 ive tried it on 5 of my devices all One X and works without an issue. If you run into errors feel free to contact me

I'm really grateful for your reply, thanks for taking the time to answer me.
I was about to download the toolkit you mentioned but i noticed it says v2.0 and I'm running 2.2 is that still going to work ?
Also i before i read your post i had tried this technique :http://www.bestandroidblog.com/root...phone-on-2-20-firmware-with-x-factor-exploit/ which actually almost worked. What i mean is i was able to get the unlock token from http://htcdev.com/ but when i try to flash it to the device it just says "waiting for device" and i don't get the message on my phone asking if i would like to proceed with the unlocking of the bootloader.
C:\Android>fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
< waiting for device >
The phone is on charge only mode and has usb debugging enabled.
Please help.

Yes all the Version Means is it's Version 2.0 for the ToolKit, You probably have the 2.20 Firmware on Your phone... any way yes the ToolKit Will work, as a Troubleshooting step, make sure that you have the latest fastboot Drivers for HTC, and those can be found @ http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe also check your device manager and make sure that your PC is recognizing the Device, it should say Android Phone --> My HTC, or something similar.

I can't lock on the HTCdev side to unlock the bootloader. I only got windows 8, and can't lock on. Any other way to unlock the bootloader?

where does your unlock stuck?
I'm on W8 too and unlocked two One s via HTC Dev without any problems.
Be sure you have installed the latest HTC Sync driver and be sure you have admin rights.
It may take some time till HTC send the unlock_token to you. It can take 1min but It can take a few hours too.
