Stuck on hsdpa (not H+) Noob help.

Ok I've rooted my phone via one click method. I have the rcmix hd 3.4 rotate Rom with leeroids 2.2.4 kernel. So far I love it except ever since I changed from factory default Rom I have no H+ or what I'm under the impression of it being 4G. Instead I'm stuck just a regular H with data arrows underneath. Any ideas for a noob?

Don't quote me here, but I'm pretty sure the afr001 and afr002 ROMs don't have an H+ icon since they are the European Desire HD ROMs. So you may be getting 4G HSPA+, but it doesn't have an icon for it.

I'd bet that is what is happening.

That ROM may only show an H. I know with the one AR ROM i was using it would actually switch between "E", "3G" and "H+" depending on what i was using.

Thanx I think this is very possibly as it seems I have moderately fast connection when off WiFi. Is there possibly an app or a reference to see if the signal strength or speed of connection equates to that of 4G?

Speed Test app

Just run a speed test with the app and you'll know right away what's going on.

Where do you live?
The stock AT&T setup shows an H+ icon even when in hsdpa... to let customers think they are getting 4g. Your rom is probably correct in showing you an H for hsdpa, because AT&T only has 4g service in like 6 cities nation wide. So unless you live in one of those cities you're not getting 4g anyway.

Wrong! The phone is using the H+ frequency, now if the backhauling has been done yet is the question.

There is no "H+" Frequency, 2G, 3G, HSPA+, they all use either 850 or 1900. He's right, they have enabled the "+" to show up all the time, even if you aren't getting an HSPA+ connection. It's very deceiving and AT&T is in some hot water right now over their false advertising, google it to see.

getting 140KB/s in bsnl

and I'm getting 140 KB/s on a 2g pack
any other bsnl users getting it

EDGE can carry a bandwidth up to 236 kbit/s (with end-to-end latency of less than 150 ms) for 4 timeslots (theoretical maximum is 473.6 kbit/s for 8 timeslots) in packet mode.

So such speed is not possible... U might be using 3g but rom you are using must be showing 2g network ;P

I am using wcdma mode so I am getting a H SIGNAL AND I HAVE 2G PACK

Bsnl and Mtnl's security is sometimes weak, I remember when airtel launched 3G, i got above 2mbps(256kBps) speed on rs99(1GB-2G) pack. :laugh:

I had got 6 mbps (highest) in tata docomo in 2G pack but I had activated wcdma so ...
Sometimes it happens ..

You mentioned that you are using wcdma. Its a 3G network. Even if you have 2g pack sometimes you can use 3G at same cost.

Do any special recharge for 2g data and your done
It doesn't matter if your recharge online or from shop

Na I'm using a year old SIM and its working for me too getting maximum possible 3g speed (350 KB/s max)
From last month(Dec 13 or something)

Bro yes we all know that we are using WCDMA network but the main thing is that we recharged for 2g pack ie(gprs/edge) but on in 3g network we are getting 3g speed without 3g recharge

It worked me for a day but now it dont. I get 3g signal but bsnl limits my speed to 30KBps even on 3g.damm.
Can u make it clear that what was the recharge? Online or coupon or what?

I have activated 2gb net pack and the data is going from there only

So, please elaborate So that others can try the same..
What mobile number series?
Which state?
How did you recharge?
Before recharging, did you have any 3gpack active in your number?
You use bsnlnet APN I hope.. when you finish browsing, it comes as "your last call charges to bsnlnet.MNCxxx.MCCxxx.GPRS is x.x" right?
I hope that's about it..

[Q] can the Atnt version use 3g?

im just wondering if the atnt s2 skyrocket versions can use 3g...im on digicel jamaica which uses the same frequency as atnt
im able to get 2g and 4g but i cant use 3g
2g is way too slow and 4g uses too much battery life
im using os 4.0.4 stock

Go under the connection and change from the default to wcdma only

when i do that i dont get any data at all... this sux oh well i guess digicel dosnt support it for androids yet still they do for blackberries

yes its changed for digicel...as a matter a fact as i put in my digicel sim card they send all the setting to my phone including the apns

If your on a stock rom it shows 4g icon when on 3g also

Nope go to settings - about device - status if mobile network type says umts then its on 3g

Using EE 4G Contract SIM

I put my EE 4G contract sim into this phone, and it cant find network or anything, tried various basebands, the most common working one for UK is V20a so I tried that. Tried V21d which someone had luck with in the UK too.
Im not sure why its not working..

try forcing it to1800mhz

you sir don't know much about phones then. My area has no 4G coverage i live in the highlands of Scotland. It goes to 3G default ( altho at my house its 2G max speed sadly ) wouldn't it go to 3G or 2G does default as it does in the 4G phone?
also its crashing every few minutes, i was told to change baseband but ive tried many, none are stable. Just leaving it locked it will restart after about 30 seconds. Tried new kernel too.

[Q] Atrix 2 Signal problem

I have a atrix 2 MB865 and the cell signal sucks. There is no way to take it out of 4G . I had better signal using MIUI and could switch to 2G but the phone got hot and the battery drained way too quick even when i wasn't using it.. Is there a way to flash a different radio like the one used on miui ? Im using Super charged v7 Rom
