Huge battery drain & irregular shutdowns - HTC Sensation

Hello guys.
It's a month now since this problem started. I was using virtuous Inquisition v 4.2 then suddenly the phone started to drain battery from 100 to 0 in only 1 or 2 hours of moderate use. I only manage to make 2 calls and browse for less than an hour.
That's not only the problem. I experience more than 10 sudden shutdowns in one discharge cycle.and when i reboot it recovery works very well but when it completes bootanimation, the phone suddenly shutdown.
I'm now on MIUI and tried cm10 & AOKP.and the drain still present. I'm s-off and using bricked kernel. I also downclocked my cpu to 1.2 with no result.
I'm thinking if that's bootloader, ROM or battery problem?

Have you tried to use another kernel? I understand it was working fine before but just for your own peace that your battery is OK you should try other kernels too.
edit: Also make sure your battery is not loose in the housing. If it is so, put a small piece of paper in the housing to make sure the battery stays in it's place.

I am sure it's not loose in the housing because it never shutdown when in charge.
I used MIUI stock kernel first then changed to bricked. Do u think it could be kernel problem?

Hi,
If the battery is loose, you will feel it moving around.
It does seem like your battery has had it.
Try getting a new one.

It doesn't move at all

I suggest to try different kernels. If the issue still persists, the problem could be with your battery. Try to get another battery from someone to try with. If it works then it's your battery. If it doesn't work, there might be some hardware issue?

My phone keeps rebooting!!!

Hello everyone, for the past few day my phone keeps rebooting and this is driving me crazy... At first I thought it was the Rom I was using but then I changed to a different Rom and the same thing kept on happening...
It doesn't matter what Rom I'm using this keeps happening, and I was wondering if this is happening to anyone else. If it is happening to others is there a fix for this or should I unroot my phone and get it replace?
Any suggesting that could help me fix this problem I have will be greatly appreciate it...

Have you updated the radio?
Do you superwipe between ROMs?

I haven't updated the radio... and I always perform a super wipe when changing from one rom to another... I don't know what else to do its driving me crazy....
Could you tell me what's your supetwipe procedure

Try a different kernel

Is it the phone that's restarting, or just sense?
Are you overclocking or undervolting your device? If so, try it without (or not as severe)
Are you using a backup/restore app after flashing a ROM? If so, try without a restore....or at least just user app restore (no system app/data restore)
Sorry I. Never replied to you guys again. My phone just stopped working... Now. It's. Working again but it's still rebooting. I notice that once my battery hits 50% or less it reboots.. I'm not. Overclock. Any ideas what I should do. I have insurance but I don't know if there's a way to unprotected the phone and make it completely stock... I'll looked around. To see if there's a way.

battery overheating, wilk anker help?

Hey guys. I have the sensation and I have to say I am really annoyed by this phone, HTC sense repeatedly crashing but then I rooted and have many roms but yet again, since the beginning my phone always overheats., even after about 2 minutes of browsing the web. I've just ordered an anker 1900 battery and all I want to know is if I replace the battery, can I expect less overheating or is it something else?
Thanks
Are you running any custom kernels? Also sometimes you get stuck with a defective battery.

[Q] Phone shuts down automaatically

Hi All need your help,
I have custom ROM Insert Coin with Android 2.3.5.
My phone shuts down automatically any time ... It will work good for 5-6 hrs some time 1 hrs then its gone. I have to start it again...
I have observed that when it automatically shuts down and I start it goes till lock screen and then again shuts down it happens twice and then 3rd time it works fine for more 5- 6 hrs. I tried MIUI same issues and again Insert coin still same issue.
Though I put ROM freshly without any apps it happens and issues started from moving MIUI to insert coin.
Please help I really need help...I feels like it can be Vodafone service issue or my GPRS issue. bcoz last night removed sim and tried so it was not down for 5-6 hrs. But is it possible.
I had the same problem as you, so what i did was..
Flash an original RUU and do the guide for rooting again and its gone
That is how i did it ;-)

Today I had word with one of the XDA Senior and he told me to run fullwipe.zip before installation & after that it looks stable.. as per him it can be power issue.. and I think he is right bcoz my automatic screen off setting was changing to never automatically...

Where do you get fullwipe.zip? I always use superwipe from the ARHD rom page. Does the fullwipe clear the ruu as well or something?
Sent from my HTC Sensation with Beats Audio using XDA App
Issue still persisting ... don't know what to do ....very annoying :S and don't see any member helping...That dose not clear RUU... If you got any solutions please let me know.
Well I solved my problem. Turns out the battery wasn't fitting tight enough. I just folded a little piece of paper to make it tighter.

Have you tried some of the reboot fixes like a piece of paper/card where the battery slots in.
If that doesnt fix it then you will have to be much more specific as in logcats, last_kmsg, what kernel you are on etc etc.

^^ true, if no Rom is stable then you gotta check if something is not right on your end

Yeah I doubt its the ROM because I'd assume they all go through pretty rigorous testing before being released though I can only speak for myself, I spent an entire two weeks testing my v7.0.0 before I released it

Most all of of the roms I've tired have been stable and I've tried a lot of roms. It's very unusual for me to have a reboot as a matter of fact I don't have reboots. Have you thought it just might actually be your device causing the reboot and not the Rom? An example would be a wiggle in your battery- causing the connection to break. This could be fixed with a paper wedge to stabilize battery. You might look into something like that and see if that's causing you're issues. Sure certain roms might have small bugs once in awhile but usually the developers are upfront about them. Also they usually are not major issues.again I think you should look at your device itself. It very well could be the problem.

[Q] Help! sensation XE battery drain and charging problems

My sensation XE is having massive battery drain after rooting. it goes from 100% to flat in less than 3 hours in standby mode. i can't even charge it 'cause it drains even when charging in AC AND even with the phone turned off. the display consumption is constant at 95% even though i deactivated the automatic brightness and put it at minimum.
I can only charge the battery via a modded USB cable.
I don't have an extra battery so i can't try using another one and i want to consult you guys before buying a new one.
Any ideas?
I'm running on ARHD 6.8.0 XE with Beats Audio
You might be experiencing a wake lock.to find out download better battery stats it will let you know what is causing the wake lock. This way you can fix the situation. Hope this was helpful.

i'm afraid so...when i try to charge it (phone off), the orange led turns on for a few seconds, turns off then turns on again and it stays.
does that mean anything?
i'll try to buy another battery to see if the problem insists.
