Need help: not able download paid apps from play store! - General Questions and Answers

As I am using android gingerbred2.3.6 (not Rooted) on my samsung galaxy y pro duos & my problem is that I am not able to purchase any kind of paid apps; b'coz whenever I am trying add my debit card to a/c there is error shows as follows ["error while receving information from server REC:AEC 0"]. I have tryed every tricks like clearing cache of play store, uninstalling update of playstore apps, or even I have used to add another a/c to downlaod these apps but unfortunatelly nothing works.
So if anybdy can solve these issue I shall be much obliged to him. If it is possible to solve this problem without formating device, its better for me b'coz I am very frustrated to loose or download all apps/contact/ important sms repeatadally.

[Q] Android online market says "No Android devices associated with this account....."
Just found the problem this morning. Was about to install apps from android online market and discovered that it says "There are no android phones associated with this account. Please sign in with a different account.". Have tried the exiting solution given on various webpages by deleting phone number and again restoring it. But no luck :-( .. Can anyone help? Will be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

android market no device associated with this account
i have the sam problem
I've read the rooted phones have trouble.
since you are on eclair, you could use z4root to unroot and see if it works. If it doesn't then use the suggested solution while unrooted

It seems that I have not the official ROM. How can I fix this,
hey i too had the same problem!
What i did was ,
Went back to android market via mobile and synced it once and twice while keeping google account signed off on pc.
and then again loggin on on pc!
see if tht solves your problem!
Create new google account. Remove older account from phone. Add new account info, reboot, then add info of your primary account. Now reboot again and remove info of new account. If it doesnot works then do a factory reset after first step.
Hope it helps you.
i had the same problem, i simply contacted google
and believe me they are very responsive, i got a reply within a day and my problem was fixed
same issue

I tried using connected the android market via wifi and downloaded the apps but when I wana click run...will appear could not acquire superuser access, is your phone rooted?.. i downloaded superuser ...but i keep having this pop up process of android.process acore has stopped unexpectedly. please try again.........
seriously need help!! tq.
I have the same problem many times. I know how to solve it.
Option 1 - Try downloading any application from ur cellphone. Once its downloaded and installed check the market online.
Option 2 - Try syncing ur account by using Gmail, Gtalk or any google application. Just send some mail or something via Gmail. That should do it.
Option 3 - Remove ur account from the cell phone and add it again
Option 4 - (Wont Recommend this, but you want to you can try) Download another of the market. Try upgrading the market verison. Use this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1328878
If None of these work, it means there is some internal prob. Try after somedays, or flash another rom.
Solved for me.
I had this same issue this morning. And boy, was I pissed off...!! Did a lot of Google search but nothing fixed the issue. And then stumbled upon something on my own, that fixed the issue for me. Here's what you can do -
Login to your Google dashboard; from a PC preferebly. Else from cell is also fine.
There, scroll down to "Android market" and click "Installed applications"
This will open android market, with your already installed apps list, under orders tab. Click the 'Settings' tab here.
Hopefully you'll see your device listed here, but the nickname will be missing. At least that's what I saw. Edit and add a nickname, save changes.
And voila. Your device will show up in the apps' pages now.
Let me know if this helps you.

Android Market: “Error while retrieving information from server.” SOLVED

So, I got the error message “Error while retrieving information from server.” when trying to buy apps on Android Market. However, I could buy apps via the web site, and my friends could buy apps. So it wasn't a server-wide issue.
Two days later, I solved it. Full, sordid story are on my blog on tolaris.com right now. Perhaps someone who is not a noob can post the link here?
The short version: If you get this error message, try logging in to Google Wallet, removing your credit card, and adding it again.
Hopefully this helps someone else.
ps: Love the "noob" video on the registration page. Massive props to azrienoch.
Here's a link to the whole story and the fix with screen shots. Might be very useful to anyone experiencing this issue. All credit goes to tolaris.
http://www.tolaris.com/2011/12/18/android-market-error-while-retrieving-information-from-server/
I'm surprised this method worked, because I DID try deleting my credit card and adding it again before and it still wouldn't work. Only thing I did different this time was to delete ALL my credit card information. I added my credit card information from my phone this time and it worked perfect.
For people who tried this but didn't work out, try deleting everything including your address. Also, add your information from your phone once you get to the purchase screen.
You can add one more account to your phone and select that account on play store. your problem will be solved.
i m using JB 4.1.1 and having an error while opening Google Play Store "error retrieving information from server. [DF-AVI-01]" plz help me out
Bumping an old thread. I purchased an app on my Nexus 7, and it wouldn't install on my Nexus 5. Instead of saying "Purchased" on my N5, it gave the price of the app. When I would click on "Accept", it would give the error above. I tried clearing out cache, and stopping the app. I synced my google account, but no change. To solve it, I went to the play store on my computer, and clicked on install, and pointed the install to my Nexus 5. Worked just fine.

Can't download apps in play store: Error code (406)

Since today I'm getting an error (406) when trying to download an app in the play store. Is there a fix for this or does anyone have any idea how to solve this.
Try creating a new google account on your phone with new details and select it in the play store and see if you can download anythang
You could try clearing the cache and data of your market, or you could try removing your googleaccount from your phone and readd it after this.
Does it only occur for one special app?
IMHO the Web server returns a header containing the 406 error code, when detecting that the data it wants to return is not acceptable to the client.
Clearing the cache should solve the problem, if not I found the following:
There was a similar issue in Germany last year (older version of market, but maybe it'll help).
Google-Support described it as follows (translated!):
This error can occur, if you
- Delete the Google account, with which you have logged in your Android phone,
- Reset the phone to factory settings
- You register a new account in your Google Android phone.
This problem does not occur for all users. We investigate the problem and report back to you as soon as we have more information.
Community solution was (sounds funny, but...): starting youtube app --> logging in with your credentials (if logged in, resign and ignore possible error message), reboot (didn't work for all users).
Google solution: Open a ticket with them
In trying to troubleshoot this error myself, I've noticed I get the error when using Wifi for the connection, but everything works fine for using the 3G coverage.
Where I'm at there isn't a 4G connection, but I picked up a few days ago the new HTC Rezound through Verizon. I went to download Angry Birds Space and saw the error. I verified it was for all apps when I tried to download a different game. As mentioned above, the 3G connection works, but Wifi doesn't.
I do have the workaround but would like to figure out why the Wifi isn't working on Google Play. I can surf, use splashtop, and browse Google Play, it's just when I want to install and download that I run into this problem.
I tried clearing out the Google Play cache and that didn't work.

I found some information about an optional Apache module called mod_security. This is a module that acts as an Apache firewall – it blocks a lot of the usual routes that we use to access i.e. websites (this module sends back an error code 406 if you're IP is not allowed to view or download the content you requested).
That could confirm Google's statement regarding opening a ticket with them.
But maybe we're delving into it to much now (hopefully grammatically correct).
There are several ways to limit the sources of the error ourselfs.
1. Can you download the games mentioned above through another wlan?
2. If not, it's time for debugging.
- Which radio, ROM version do you use?
- Did the download work before? (If yes, updated your ROM? Changed
anything else?)
- You can check your requests to Google Play and the according answers
with tcpdump or Wireshark (http://www.kandroid.org/online-pdk/guide/tcpdump.html or http://gadgetcat.wordpress.com/2011/09/11/tcpdump-on-android/) (1. connection with 3G 2. connection with Wifi)
Which ROM do you both use?
Funny enough, I think it is the Wifi we're allowed to join at our work that is causing the issue.. I went home, connected to my Wifi at home and was able to download just fine. There's a loose firewall of sorts here, that the network guy explained to me, that could potentially be putting the block on downloading from google play (although I can use Splashtop, surf via browser over Wifi, etc).
I guess it makes sense although others on other droid phones are able to download over the wifi just fine.
My phone - non-rooted HTC Rezound
Android 2.3.4
HTC Sense 3.5
Software number 1.02.606.6
Baseband 0.95.00.1017_24, 0.95.00.1013r
I had this problem. I disabled wifi, cleared play store data/cache, opened play store and let it do its thing while on data connection. After that's done, turn on wifi and works again.

Have you checked your firewall settings or tried to connect to another wifi? Does it also occur with a 3g connection?
This problem occurs when u have Package Installer or Package Access Helper frozen or deleted. Its a system app and u shouldn do it if you want to keep your access over Google Play store.
You can try to clear cache and data for Google Play store and Google Services Framework and after that restart the device.
This should do the trick, at least for a while...

clearing cache and data solved for me.
I think after rooting and restoring it restored some bogus half downladed apps.

Sorry for bringing this thread back up but i am having the same error.
I cleared the data and cache on the Google play store and services and I still can't download any app from the play store what so ever.
I even uninstalled the play store and restored it by reinstalling a gapps package...but still nothing.
Do i need to reflash my ROM?
Any kind of suggestions will help me out.

"Unfortunately google play store has stopped": what to do (general)

There are a gazillion threads on this topic, but most of them are about device-specific or carrier-specific problems. However google play store can stop for a number of reasons that are more generic. Googling them is a pain in the butt, as I recently discovered. This thread is intended as a place to collect them together. As well as checking here, it would be important to check on threads for your specific device and carrier, as they may have pushed a bad version.
Cause: Part-installed apps: something went wrong part-way through installing an app
Checking: Check in google play; if it says 'downloading' or 'installing' permanently, something is amiss
Solution: Try uninstalling the app (you may be able to reinstall it successfully afterward)
Cause: /mnt/sdcard is full
Checking: If you have a terminal, use the "df" command, otherwise use a capable file viewer
Solution: On a terminal, "cd /mnt/sdcard", then "du -s (dirname)" to check sizes, "rm -r (dirname)" to remove something (or use 'mv (dirname) /mnt/external_sd if you have an external sd card with some space). On a file viewer, move or remove relevant directories. You can't avoid this: if your sd card is full, you're definitely going to have to remove something (or move it to your external card) - the system isn't going to work with a full card. USE WITH CARE EITHER WAY. Whatever you remove cannot be retrieved, and removing the wrong thing can make your system or applications misbehave.
Cause: Corrupted data
Checking: Try the solutions in increasing order of severity.
Solution:
Go into Settings, then apps, then All, click on Google Play Store. Then:
Clear cache, Force stop, restart Google Play and retry
Go into Settings, then apps, then All, click on Google Play Store. Then:
Clear data, Force stop, restart Google Play and retry
Go into Settings, then Accounts and Sync, Click on your account, then on options icon, Remove account (ignore warnings - it's easy to restore)
Restart Google Play. It will ask you to add an account - add your original back in.
Cause: Corrupted binaries
Checking: Not sure how...
Solution: Install an updated binary. This thread always seems to have the latest. But you should probably check your device and vendor lists in case there is a device-specific binary (I think the more specific binaries currently just add a different skin, but further information would be good). You may also need to reinstall google play services (thanks jpeg1900)
Or:
"I just reflashed the same gapps in CWM over the first installation, rebooted and had to wait a few minutes before Play Store actually started working again." - Thanks Nephatiu (see below).
Please feel free to add further info below. I'll try to incorporate all good nuggets into this post.

Not sure. I had a similar problem at one time, and eventually discovered it was due to a specific app that had only half-installed itself (perhaps the tab had crashed halfway through the download, not sure, it's lost in the mists of time). Uninstalling that app got over the problem. However it might help someone (perhaps you) if you post the error message that you get on the display (people are likely to google it, so that you might get together with other people with the same problem).
I had issues with the Play Store earlier today and tried clearing the app cache and data to no avail, but found another simple fix. I uninstalled updates from version 3.8.15 back to 3.7.15. Worked like a charm.
Well, my Play Store recently crashed during updates, after which it wouldn't run any longer anymore stating that same message every time I try running it and also every time an app accesses the store for information (which seems to happen when I just open the apps). My sdcard wasn't full, clearing data and cache did nothing, no other data is corrupted, I replaced the market with a fresh copy apk, tried different versions, ... Nothing worked... So, reading the internet, I saw the final solution was to remove and re-add my Google account, but for some reason (not a rational one) I didn't really want to do this, so I went back to CWM recovery mode, reflashed the gapps zip I used the first time and rebooted... Once booted it didn't give me the error I usually get on any other boot since it started crashing, but when I tried running Play Store, it crashed again with the same message... Defeated I went to my Google accounts to remove, at which point (just before doing anything) I noticed the Updates-notification of the Play Store popping up in my notification drawer. I tapped it and Play Store booted, everything works again, and it updated itself back to the latest version, still without any problems.
So in short, if you don't ant to read the entire text:
I just reflashed the same gapps in CWM over the first installation, rebooted and had to wait a few minutes before Play Store actually started working again.
Dunno if this will work for anyone of you, 'cause it depends on the reason it's not working, but this possible solution should not be missing from your list since it worked for at least one person (me).

Hotspot Shield VPN 1.3
just download Hotspot Shield VPN 1.3
http://www.androiddrawer.com/11257/download-hotspot-shield-vpn-1-3-app-apk/
and google play store will work again
What does Hotspot Shield VPN 1.3 have to do with Google Play not working?
That is an app which creates a VPN so you can access sites that are locked or not authorized.
Personally I went into Settings than Application Manager, then ALL, then Google Play Store.
After that i cleared all the data, force stopped the app and restarted it again.
It worked nicely.

seems point 3 fixes it for me, but as soon as im back on the play store and starting to download something it just starts over again with the error message. Any ideas?
Not even sure how to describe this one..
Hardware: ASUS ME301T (MeMo Smart Pad 10)
Version: 4.2.1 (10.6.1.29, but it was happening on 10.6.1.25 as well)
Rooted, SuperSU installed for the multi-user support. Aside from that, the device is stock.
Play Store: 4.1.6 (4.0.something factory)
Setup:
2 users
Primary user has 2 Google accounts+FB account
Secondary user has a single Google account
Problem:
I have 43 apps installed on the primary user. If I install even 1 more, the app crashes when trying to load the list of installed apps. Doesn't seem to matter what the 44th app is. Uninstall it to drop it back to 43 and it works just fine again. Secondary user is at 46 and no issues. I've tried removing both Google accounts, clearing data+cache of the store, DMClient, and Download Manager, as well as removing the store updates. Nothing has worked. The only things left I can think of is trying to update the store manually via newer apk or a factory reset. I don't know what, if anything, ASUS changed in the store, as the installed size reports 10.46mb or so. Also want to avoid a reset for obvious pain-in-the-arse related reasons.
Any ideas?
I ran into a similar problem. After reading this thread, i tried a few of the suggestions. What ended up working for me was to go to the application manager, got to google play store, uninstall updates, and re install the factory version. Did the same for google play services.
same problem with 4.3.1.1
using a custom rom (LiquidSmooth) on a Galaxy Note II (N7100) international.
went through all the removing\reinstalling\clear cache tricks.. same error pops up every time i try to open the store, and sometimes just as a background process.
not sure if re-flashing will help... (cleared cache and dalvik too).
thoughts..?

No good ones, but just wondering - is there any possibility it's the 43rd app that is the root of the problem? Perhaps its data is corrupted in play's database, and adding another app reveals the problem.

Just in case you didn't try it, jpeg1900's suggestion of reinstalling google play services (rather than just google play) might be relevant here, in light of it crashing as a background process.

I broke it!!!
after trying all the processes, several times
I am running Paranoid Android ROM and just wondered if changing hybrid profile of Google play store was contributing to app crashing?!?
note: I was able to open app but from opening menu could not go into any individual tabs (I.e. "apps") without crashing...
Changing hybrid settings back to lower DPI fixed issue and I have just set to the maximum DPI before app starts crashing
hope this helps others

If your problem is due to google sites being blocked by a firewall (your company's, your ISP's, your country's, or whatever) this may be helpful. Be aware that you will need a site on the other end, outside the firewall, to route your google play communications.
If that's not your problem, this solution won't help.
Usually you will know - only a few countries block google, it's highly unlikely that a commercial ISP would, and you will know whether you are trying to do updates on your company's network.
There's a host file in system-etc- delete that file and reboot your phone and see if that works..

Did I install wrong google play service?

Hi guys, yesterday I try to pick latest google services and google play store on latest apk website call apkmirror.. And after installing it.. I notice that every rating turn into 1 star
I am using samsung s6 edge
And the version of apk I am installing is 8.2.99 (google service)
What I did wrong.. Is there a solution or I need to do a factory reset? :'(
Hi,
I did one time the same update as you from apkmirror and won't do it anymore. Too many errors from play services even after deleting cache/data/reboot, etc..
From my standpoint, either you reinstall another version to test (like downgrading), either better to do a factoring reset ... and never do it again ;-p
