[Q] 4.2 Camera Photoshere behavior - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I couldn't find anything in the 4.2 camera threads ... so here my problems/experience with photosphere.
I flashed the camera42_patched_v2.zip on my 100.01% AOSP Rom on my i9023
I can not make a full sphere or a 360° picture: i always get about 1/3rd of the sphere (solid) grey, although i captured it.
Photosphere crashes 50%, doesn't matter if i take a half-sphere or full-sphere. Sometime Gallery behaves strange after the crashes, eg. all picture thumbnails are grey or the photosphere-viewer-button doesn't show any more.
Does anyone else have these issues?

I'm using the same version; mine works perfectly. I'm on:

clear the app data for the cam/gallery, fix_permissions, then reboot, then flash the cam zip again.

Can anyone help me with rolling the camera app back to 4.1? The photosphere never works for me (always blurred / messed up), so I'd prefer to get rid of it...

Clearing the app data worked for me. It runs now solid and tiny planet is working!!
Thanks!

Where/how can I access the tiny planet function?
Thank you

You have to take full 360 degree picture with Photoshphere

When i trying to save tiny planet, it always crashes. The only way to save tiny planet is to select second frame from frame option. Othewise it'll crash. Using Omega 33.2 with Siyah kernel.

I would as well, but I can't find it. I read about it in the article that I've linked on pocketnow. I should just point out maybe that it was in no way through my doing that this is available. I just wanted to spread the news, that's all.

Good to see it works for others too.
I installed the new camera apk (by moving to system/app etc) on my nexus s running blackbean 6 and it works! But it keeps fc'ing when i open sphere camera mode!
I deleted the old gallery app should i have kept it? Or does it fc for you too?
I haven't been able to try the Camera mod yet, I'm only linking so that others can try them. The keyboard however does work for others, and I'll try it soon.

Agreed. Camera works for Cam and Video but not Pano or Sphere (FC). Does anyone know if we must delete something, or fix permissions?
Camera apk on Nexus S i9023 stock 4.1.2 (deodexed-zipaligned) works well... I've found PhotoSphere fix, but after all, it says me: "Your device is not supported yet: Nexus S"...
No FC but this... I think that in two-three days it will work...
PS.. sorry for my english..

Gallery Will Not Open
I flashed the files . The camera works fine, but the gallery doesn't open. When I hit the gallery icon it says "Unfortunately Gallery has stopped." I've tried reinstalling and several other avenues and end up with the same results. Is anyone else having this issue? I am running Scott's CM10 Rom.
Working fine on liquid smooth.
This doesn't affect the gallery man. Your gallery doesn't work because you flashed the 4.2 gallery. Idk why it doesn't work.it should. Didn't you back up your old gallery?in system/app

Try to clear data+cache for Gallery in Settings -> Apps -> ALL -> Gallery.
It's possible that Gallery is using old data from previous version.

If it's working correctly, you'll see a blue dot. You aim the reticle so the blue dot is in the middle. It will do a countdown then take the fist shot. After that, when you move the phone up, down, left, or right, you'll see other possible blue dots. Same procedure. You can do a 360 view or just a partial. Click the shot button to finish.
It will take 30 seconds or so to compile. You'll see a message in the notification bar.
Pretty cool that it works this well on this old phone.
Picture will be in the gallery.
I have a separate, working zip if the packaged photosphere doesn't work. I can post a link.
Good luck

[Q] **HELP**Unfortunately gallery has stopped responding

I have a Galaxy S2 which was running resurrection remix 3.1.3 and I updated it to the newest version which is 4.0.4(ROM version) but since doing this I have an issue with the camera and cannot find an exact cause and was hoping someone could help.
What happens is that the camera app will open but the screen will be black, I can see the camera controls but the screen is black, and if I leave it or close the app the message appears about gallery not responding. I can replicate the issue quite easily, as long as the camera is listed in the recent apps list the fault will occur but will always run fine when I remove it from this list.
I have tried clearing the gallery and camera data/cache, i have also cleared dalvic and cache and also done a wipe data/reset via CWM as well as reflashing the ROM. The ROM has not be modified by me, it is as supplied by the ROM creator.
Does anyone know the cause of this? I am unable to ask this in the ROM forums as I am a new member.
Can nobody help with this query?
maybe this is the bug in custom rom...
you should try other camara/gallery apps like snap camara...it combines camara app and gallery app...and if you are advance user then you should change the default app...

It doesn't happen in other ROMs so clearly it must be but was hoping to find a way to fix it, instead of working around it as the camera app otherwise works fine. I have never heard of snap camera, how does it compare to other camera apps?
