New OTA Update for the EU was released today. But it has the old Radio and no further changes, except the working PEEP Twitter Client
Updates HBOOT to 0.93 and of course you will lose root, if you install AS IS! Be careful and wait for a rooted version...

Thought, this could be useful
That does contain a radio update from 2.09.405.8, and updates HBOOT to 0.93, and changes the kernel too.
For me the HBoot was updated from 0.92 to 0.93.

Thanks, teppic74 forgot to mention a warning in the first post
There are a few fixes in it. HTC's announcement is a bit vague:
Update Information: 1.Android OS update patch 2.Enhanced multi inbox Gmail support 3.Improved Russia keyboard layout

AFAIK the older Peep is working again also, so the folks at Twitter just loosened their leash. *wondering if HTC gave some kind of incentive*
hi all. i have 2.09.405.8.
Can i install this new ota update manually? My desire is not rooted.
How can i install it?
thx
Yes, download it rename it update.zip (not update.zip.zip, mind!!) and put it on your SD card
Boot into HBOOT, select recovery and once you get to the red ! hold volume up and press power and select 'Apply SD:update.zip' and it will install

i believe that for now on there is no way to downgrade 0.93 or even root?
unrEVOked 3.2 works - I did it the other day with the now removed version. You can also downgrade using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
unrEVOked will hopefully be up again soon so everyone can root easily!
hi guys,
I try to do downgrade because of the wifi problem, but i`m unable to go to recovery mode.
i`m using froyo 2.10.405.2 with gold card
I have a normal unrooted and unbranded desire. I have copied the update.zip on the SD card. How do I enter the recovery mode?

1. Download the official firmware update.
2. Copy the file to your microSD card and name it update.zip (newb warning: not update.zip.zip)
3. Power off your phone.
4. Hold down the VOLUME DOWN button and power it back on.
5. The phone will now search for files like PB00IMG.zip, etc. This is normal. Scroll down to recovery and press the POWER button.
6. When you see the /!\ symbol, press the POWER button and the Volume Up button at the same time. You should be presented with a menu and one of the options should be "Apply sdcard:update.zip".
7. Use the trackball to navigate to "apply sdcard:update.zip" and select it.
8. When you see "Install from sdcard complete", select "reboot system now".

I'm getting the same issue actually. I tried both downloading OTA, and this file, but same issue.
Edit: It's due to the phone being rooted, so either wait until someone smarter than me uploads a rooted version rom, or un-root.
guys i have downloaded the file and i have the Goldcard which i made earlier when i was updating to froyo from Eclair.
can i use that old GOLDCARD or i need to make a new one ?

I can confirm that you can use the same goldard. Just successfully updated debranded, non-rooted t-mobile Desire to build 2.10.405.2
Rooted version ?
Hi,
Is anyone working on a rooted version of 2.09.405.8 ?
To be honest I'm not that worried about root but I guess as what I have on here is a rooted ROM I'll have to wait till I can put one on.
I had the OTA notification but it failed in Clockworkmod.
Excuse my ignorance but If I do load this ROM will it wipe everything? The OTA update says it will retain all your data but obviously doing it this way it's a bit different I guess?
HTC updates usually don't wipe but it's always recommended to backup.
Normally flashing roms from clockworkmod does not wipe unless you select wipe in the menu.
Anyway. Do a nandroid backup from clockworkmod before flashing just in case.

You can't apply the OTA to a rooted phone, you need to go back to stock and do it again. Easier to just use the 2.10.405.2 RUU and then root it again
I got the 2.3.5 Update OTA on my One-click-root Nexus and applied the update, but now I'm stuck on the android/exclamation point screen.
What do I do??

That's the stock recovery - hold power and hit vol up to get the menu.
I've been doing that, but nothing happens.
I did a battery pull, and it rebooted in 2.3.4
So what am I doing wrong? Do I need to change something before trying the update again?
Hold power and slide from volume down to volume up. But that wont do u any good you need to flash a custom recovery and reflash super user.

So I goofed something up on my phone?
Is there a way to do this without losing all my app info/game saves?
I was going to run a TItanium backup.
And sorry, I'm a total noob with this.
ROM Manager, would I flash an older ROM or the ClockworkMod Recovery?
At that point could i just install the update and re root with Shabby Penguin's one click and then get all my app data back from Titanium backup?

Nothing is goofed up if you rebooted into 2.3.4.
The update did not apply. Did you receive the OTA or download it manually?
If you are unlocked just flash CWM via fastboot and apply it from there.
If you are locked then you can go back into the stock recovery, hold power down and hit vol up (in that order) to get the menu and apply the update. You may want to ensure it is in the root of the sdcard and named update.zip.
The OTA does not wipe nor is a wipe necessary, so you shouldn't be losing any data/apps.
I got the update OTA, but not it's not asking me if I want to apply it.
I'm sorry I'm such a noob here, but step wise.
If I boot up with Vol UP, I can then go to Recovery and get to ClockWork Recovery.
From there do I just hit update from SD card?

Yeah, choose apply update. Choose your zip from the SD card and apply.
It will go through a series of asserts and then apply if it passes. If you've modified any of the checked system files, boot image or kernel it's likely going to fail.
Well, I didn't alter any of them on purpose
I used Shabby Penguin's one click root so I could use Titanium Backup only. (Although now I'll probably add tethering to the list) So I don't think I changed any kernel files.
It's saying it can't find the file. Whatever downloaded must have gotten deleted somehow. I may just download the update and do it myself like everyone else.
Just to clarify. I place the update.zip in the root and select apply update on the ClockWorkMod Recovery, and that's it?
I was waiting to just get the update OTA organically hoping it would avoid these problems, lol.

In CWM use the choose zip file from SD card option, then you can pick the file regardless of it's name.
That's it - if you are stock (other than rooting) it should apply without any issues.
You may need to reflash CWM and delete /etc/install-recovery.sh to keep CWM installed. I haven't looked at the update itself to see if it is installing the script to reflash the stock recovery.
I had this problem too. I rebooted and its back to 2.3.4. I will attempt to go to 2.3.5 today once I have more time and post my findings here. If anyone has any success please keep updating this thread.
It looks like I have to reflash CWM in order to restore Super User.
My bootloader is still unlocked, but it won't let me run/install CWM. How do I do this?
Jagar, I did finally figure this out after reading through the code in the rooting .bat that Shabby Penguin put together.
basically his file has the Clockwork Recovery image that you need.
Boot up in bootloader.
then type
fastboot flash recovery ______.img whatever image you have.
Then select RECOVERY on the bootloader menu and now you can install the superuser.zip file to re-root.
you might wanna just run the new one click again, make sure its version 2.0.. it will do teh dirty work for ya
Seriously Shabby, big props to you for automating that process. I learned much more from your code than reading through all those other posts
@gnuf99 although you succeeded in getting root , please do read the guides abt adb and fastboot. This will be always handy for you, indifferent of the device you'll use later.

Hi All,
Problem with TF700 with JB, rooted but not unlocked. I cannot enter into stock recovery: after volDown - volUP I have dead droid with red triangle. I think this my mistake: after was rooted in ICS .26, not unlocked, I tryed to install GooManager - after that I cannot enter to recovery in ICS. After that JB OTA installation was no problem, i backup and restore root, but still not have recovery.
So, now I have root in JB and can you point me to answer, how I can return stock recovery without unlock?
Thank you!

This relates to same problem I have . See cannot open recovery in JB in this same QA forum a little further back. I get the icons and when I pick recovery I get to Red triangle Andy but then no matter what combo of buttons pushed nothing happens. In my thread I was given a solution but I am locked but rooted and I believe had to be unlocked to use it. My question is can you get to recovery with a locked rooted tab to wipe cache etc . I can no longer get to that menu.

I think what buhohitr was saying is that RCK is a recovery that you can only boot into when there is an update file waiting to be updated on the microSD card. Otherwise, it does nothing but give you that Android with the Red Triangle.
I can confirm this on JB, never tried it while still on ICS.

It seems that the only solution is to unlock and put a custom recovery on . Unfortunately for me I did not unlock for warranty reasons and I updated to .30 and JB OTA and now it seems I have painted myself into a corner since I did not do nvflash or unlock downloads before accepting .30 and JB OTA. It appears ICS stock recovery is gone. Thanks for responses in this and my other thread Tom

No, you're not corner, you can easily downgrade from JB to .30 (download full version from Asus site), root your device, install superSU then save root with Voodoo OTA root keeper, then upgrade to JB through OTA, restore root using Voodoo OTA root keeper and you all set.

Yes i didn't think the whole number was a requirement for everyone to see after I sent it to you, do you have any other suggestions? apprentley I can do it manually using these instructions:
Check your device’s SKU through the following procedure.
On the tablet, go into Settings » About tablet. Then, check the Build number.
If the build number starts with “TW”, your SKU is TW. Similarly, if your build number starts with “US”, you must download the firmware for the US SKU. Similarly for WW, you need to download the WW firmware.
Download the update for your SKU from the official ASUS website. Select Android from the drop-down box, click on Firmware, then download the latest update’s file.
Extract the downloaded zip file once to obtain another zip file.
Now, we need to copy the obtained zip file to the tablet.
If you have a custom recovery like ClockworkMod or TWRP installed on the tablet, copy the zip file obtained in step 3 to the internal SD card.
If you are on stock recovery on the tablet, rename the file to ”EP201_768_SDUPDATE”, then copy it to the external SD card.
[Important] Now, further steps depend on whether you have stock recovery on the tablet or are using a custom recovery like ClockworkMod or TWRP recovery. Follow step 6 if you have stock recovery on the tablet, or step 7 if on a custom recovery.
For stock recovery
Shut down the tablet. Hold Power + Vol Down buttons until a message appears saying “Press Vol. Up to enter RCK (5s)”. Here, press the Volume Up key within 5 seconds to enter recovery.
The update will automatically start installing, then the tablet will reboot after the update is finished.
You can now stop following the guide as your tablet has now been updated.
For custom recovery
Shut down the tablet. Hold Power + Vol Down buttons until a message appears saying “Press Vol. Up to enter RCK (5s)”. Here, press the Volume Up key within 5 seconds to enter recovery.
Select wipe cache, then select Yes to confirm cache wipe (if using TWRP recovery, select Wipe, then select Cache/dalvik cache).
Select install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from sdcard. Scroll to and select the update file that you copied to the tablet in step 4. Confirm installation by selecting Yes on the next screen. (if using TWRP recovery, select Install, then select the update file)
After the update is installed, select go back then select reboot system now to reboot the tablet (if using TWRP recovery, select the Reboot system button to reboot the tablet).
After the tablet reboots, it will be running the latest firmware.

Don't worry about the OTA, this is the incremental update, you want the full version update anyway. Just follow the direction that you posted above. Do you want to root your device? if you do, you need to do it now before upgrade to Jelly Bean. Once you're on Jellybean, you can't root anymore.

I was able to get to Jellybean per the below method with my stock Infinity. The issue is that OTA Root Keeper doesn't seem to keep root with installing from/with a EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip.
I would like to avoid using the unlocker because I just want to be rooted not really fool around with any rom's at this time.
Anyone got suggestions?
Mine came as a stock V9.4.5.26 US SKU. That is what I updated to Jelly Been from with V10.4.4.16 US SKU zip.

If you don't want to unlock, the only way is you have to downgrade back to .30, root, install OTA rootkeeper and make a root backup, then do the OTA upgrade to JB, then restore root with OTA rootkeeper.
I am rooted on locked bootloader. My tablet just downloaded the 5.0.1 update. Has anyone flashed this yet and kept root? Not sure where the download is stored on the file system in case of sideloading or flashing from CWM. Thanks.
Hi. Inside the update ZIP there are some hash checks of the system partition, so what is needed is rebuilding ota update ZIP, which I can't do atm.
didn't work for me
Im 5.0 rooted with unlocked bootloader, using CWM.
After downloading, it restarted to cwm and installation failed. Didn't take a picture or write down the details; making a second attempt now, will report back. Did not lose root during install attempt.
Mine is failing because CWM seems to be telling it I'm still on Android 4.4.2.
same here

Until someone rebuilds the update to remove the checks you will keep getting an error.
Ok. Here is what I did on my locked bootloader shield:
1. Download the full 5.0.1 US LTE zip and SuperSU 2.40.
2. Entered CWM, flashed 5.0.1, then SuperSU, wipe cache partition, and reboot. Done.
Nothing to it. Only thing now, how do I remove the OTA notice I keep getting to update? It seems that the incremental update had downloaded and now it keeps prompting me to flash even though I manually updated with the full version. Anyone know how to get around this? Thanks.
EDIT: I used the command 'pm disable com.nvidia.ota' and so far seems to have fixed it.
